Chris hugged him back, holding him up in the water and enjoying a few moments in which they weren't straining themselves over their awkward height difference. He knew the things Paris did weren't to hurt them. If anything, Paris was almost scarily devoted to their relationship. It made Chris feel like a slacker sometimes.
It wasn't his fault he didn't know how to be all that romantic. Not any more than what he'd seen in movies, but that was all cliche and overdone, right? He wasn't very good with his words, but he at least tried to be honest. And at least when he did decide something, he really, really meant it.
"I love you, too," he said again, knowing Paris just wanted what was best for them. "We'll figure something out, okay...?"
He pulled back enough to be able to be able to lean in and give him another kiss... But they were interrupted by an "Ugh, get a room!" from an obnoxious voice somewhere nearby. Chris grumbled about little brothers, and splashed water in the kid's direction.
Maybe they would get a room.
