Lyric dove through the wave of water that was sent her way, laughing and enjoying every bit of it. She was also happy to see that Heath was enjoying himself, and she wondered a bit whether he swam often or not. She swam swiftly up to him to where their noses were almost touching, grinned and said, "You can't win in a splash war against me."

Heath was still laughing in his own strange way when Lyric came close--close enough to touch, and he blinked in surprise, then smiled gently. Slowly, he lightly touched her nose with his, then stepped back as if shy, before smiling as if it never happened, and tromped, splashing. Bring it on! He loved water! And could either of them lose a splash war? Really.

Lyric was a bit surprised, but pleased, when their noses touched. She blushed and stepped back as well, smiling shyly. It was a warm and loving moment, and words weren't really needed. She began tromping and splashing in the water some more as well. Finally she stopped and looked towards the beach.
"Want to go for a walk?" She asked him. A walk down the beach sounded lovely. She'd often walked alone on the beach, but having a companion seemed like the greatest pleasure. It would especially be nice when the sun began to set. It was already into the afternoon. She lost track of time with Heath, and time just went on by, hours and hours, but only feeling like moments.

Heath looked shy several moments before her question, the male perking, smiling and nodding. This sounded good, yes! He'd like that! Carefully, the male nosed her gently, much like a male human offering a hand as they moved.

Lyric began to walk down the beach, smiling with Heath by her side. She nosed him back, gently, blushing and smiling in the moment. The sand was soft and warm under her hooves. The setting sun was warm on her back, and a cool breeze tousled her mane.
"This day has been perfect," she commented to Heath. It was very romantic. She couldn't picture how it could be better.

Heath smiled softly himself as they walked, nuzzling Lyric lightly with his muzzle. As the trees parted, he spotted a honeysuckle, and quickly niccped a bit from it, offering a branch of flowers to the female shyly, with a smile and a small whicker.
He was happy she was content... Happy she smiled.

"Oh, honeysuckles!" she exclaimed. She took a few flowers off the branch he offered and ate them hungrily. They tasted good and sweet. Lyric smiled and leaned close to Heath's cheek. Then she kissed him real quick, a small little lick and a nuzzle on his cheek, and then pulled back shyly. "Thank you," she said.

Heath's ears pricked to full alertness, and the stallion smiled warmly, leaning in to nuzzle the mare back, kissing her own cheek lightly.
He'd done well! Made her hsppy!... And that made him happy, certainly.

Getting lost in little moments with Heath had been too easy all day long, but Lyric's attention was caught and drawn away from him, back towards the sea right at the moment when the sun hit the horizon line. The sun burst against the water, a glowing orange half-globe, and cast pink and orange hues across the sky like paint.
"Look!" she breathed as she nuzzled even closer to Heath, for the night was setting in and it brought chilling breezes with it.
"Isn't it the most beautiful sunset you've ever seen?"
Was it really so beautiful she wondered, or was it because she was just so happy that it seemed that way?

Heath smiled, enjoying the day, the snippets of light, the laughter... He nosed Lyric gently, nuzzling her as the light caught his eyes and he smiled.
His voice was a whisper, cracked and broken, and surprisingly frail, as if his voice was gone for a long time.
"...Beautiful."

Lyric whinnied softly in surprise. She thought she had just heard him speak. But he had never spoken before, and she wasn't aware that he could speak. Now a new revelation came to her mind. All that stuff he had shown to her before about his past, it had only locked his words away temporarily, not permanently.
"Oh, Heath..." She nuzzled him gently. She wasn't sure what to say.
"I had longed to hear your voice," she finally said, with a smile.

Heath had worried at her whinny, blinking, afraid to move.
Speaking once meant pain and death, or torment, but this was a good reaction, and the stallion smiled, nuzzling her. He was-- slightly shy of speaking more, and his voice wasn't right, but it made her happy, it really did! He was happy for that.
