Also, Imma gonna ramble here because my brain is mush, but I can answer some of this.
The nieces, nephew, and sister were made nameless and vague PRECISELY so I could stick them all in the adoptables thread. Giving back and all that wink
yeah, he probably doesn't remember his mom beyond a few flickering, faded, and that peculiar bizzarness that goes with childhood memories. Likely of either being hugged, the comfort behind it, or of enjoying the exploration. Good things. He's not the kind of person to get lost in his own memories though. Thats Biroki XD
He doesn't see his temper as a problem, usually, though he does like to think clearly.

Well, he isn't plotting. He doesn't plot very well. But, though he likes to tell himself he can take them on, he has juuust enough self preservation instincts to not challenge them yet. I would say that he also doesn't want the village to retaliate against his sister and nieces, but he doesn't think like that and wouldn't associate that outcome with his actions. So thats MY motivation.
Following along with the elder's desires... makes them pay attention to him? Thats the best way I can articulate his actual motivation.
He's got an ego, and he likes inflating it, and their attempts to control him reveal that they fear him. He likes that.
It also gives him an excuse to get out of the stupid village while still letting him return to visit his sister and nieces... when they can get away from their mom. His other option would probably be exile, and while he doesn't mind being alone in the wild with only the cold for company, he feels drawn to his sister and nieces and a bit reluctant to leave them for good. He isn't sure why, but I can see his mother being the root of this as well by her association with the key supportive female family members in his life.
