Oddball was probably a generous and kind term for Chaonis, all told, but everything he did made sense in his mind so he couldn't really bother himself with how others saw him. If they didn't catch on to his awesomeness he would just have to show off harder. Or something like that.
"You're damn right we will," he grinned at her, finding her not as obnoxious as he normally found newbies. Or maybe that whole growing up thing really was getting to him, and he was just more tolerant and... maybe even nice now. The very thought made him shudder, but he couldn't help what was natural.
Everyone grew up. Even douche bags like him. Not that he had quite grown out of that yet.
"Good." Her gumption and drive endeared her to him even more, and he was going to make sure he did what he could to help her get strong and for her to survive this war. He felt that strange feeling in his chest, a tightness that he sometimes felt when he was thinking about serious things.

"Right." She nodded seriously, before pausing, recalling something he'd said. "But.. what do you mean, the Negaverse 'changed their game'? Aren't they just, like, the same old they've a-always been?" Granted, she'd yet to have a run-in with any Negaversers since her return, but she'd just kinda thought that something like the Negaverse would always stay the same old bad guys they'd always been. Stealing starseeds and such. As far as she was concerned, they were a pretty uniform lot, always doing the same thing over and over again. "I, er, just need to figure out 'how'. D'you h-have any tips?" She looked hopeful that he'd be able to impart some sort of all-important wisdom on her that'd immediately make her into a fantastic senshi. With her luck though, it was unlikely. Still, anything he could tell her would be useful - she'd been out of the loop for so long, she needed any edge she could get.

"They're obnoxious about it. They think they're good guys now or something, and since they're only attacking us and 'not killing civilians' or whatever. I don't know, there was a big fight and a bunch of them were spouting off after but it's like... they're still the bad guys."
He shrugged. Details. He was the worst to come to for advice and he was not the type of guy who took mental notes to remember things later. Maybe key things would come back to him about an opponent, but most of it was instinct.
Oh hey, he could go with that.
"Always trust your instincts. I know that's hokey but it works. And don't let your magic or whatever weapon or skill your opponent has psyche you out. You gotta remember you're a bad a**, and then everything else will work out. Youma are only a third of it: there's Negaverse and those Dark Mirror traitors. Don't trust any chaotic aura, no matter what."
Chaonis was not one of those that thought there was good to be found in his enemies.

"Oh, I see." She paused, turning the new information over in her head. "That sounds, er..." Shrugging, she looked a bit lost. "Stupid, I guess? I mean, they still have the s-same goals, right? The big, bad taking over Earth-goals?" If so, it didn't really matter how one went about it, it was still wrong. No-one should ever take over anything, in Vanadis' mind; she was a firm believer in the democratic process and there was nothing so bad as to take people's choices away from them. His advice was perhaps not the big 'this is the ultimate tip for being a senshi!'-thing she'd imagined, but it sounded pretty useful in spite of it. "Right, so, trust my instincts, um, don't get psyched out by my opponents, feel bad-a** and don't trust anyone who're with Chaos." She nodded determinedly, looking serious and giving him a thumbs up. "Got it! I t-think I can do that, no problem."

Chaonis grinned at her, nodding his head.
"And if you ever get in over your head, you give me a call and I'll bash some faces in for you. You can handle youma, but the negaverse and senshi on the chaos side are tougher and, some of them at least, even have brains. So if you ever meet one of those rare few, I'll handle it."
He laughed at her and clapped her on the shoulder. She was going to get a bruise from all his encouragement if she wasn't careful. He was not great at it, anyway, and he felt like he had done more than his fair share of it so far. The bad guy was done and the battle was over. Everything was good.
So they could probably call it a night.
He'd helped someone, which was good enough for tonight at least. He had a date with his video game console for the rest of the night. It was something to look forward to, and he owed Vanadis for getting herself in trouble and giving him a reason to justify taking off early for the night. So she was in his good book, for all the good that did her.
"Alright, I'm going to head out. Be a bad a**." Which was Chaonis for goodbye.

"You t-too!" She rubbed the shoulder he'd clapped her on and gave him a goodbye wave, followed by a brilliant smile. She felt much more confident about this 'returning-to-being-a-senshi'-business now! But she'd probably had enough excitement for one night, she figured. Time to head home, then - there'd probably be a few bruises on her body tomorrow, not least from Chaonis' encouraging claps on the shoulder. Oh well, she could live with that; after all, she'd managed to defeat a youma! Not entirely by herself, but it was still a good go, she thought. Her trip back to the apartment was short, and accompanied the whole time by a proud smile. Yep, she'd done well, and she'd continue to do well in the future - she'd become a senshi who didn't need to be saved by anyone, a senshi that could actually save others herself. Maybe one day she'd even become as bad a** as Chaonis had said senshi were!
