The young man laughed at the pair, the confidence still shining in his eyes. "Well I don't know if I'd go so far as ta say ally." he said with a shrug. "I've only got about three friends in the entire world I'd trust enough ta call that. And ain't none of em friends anyone supporting them Otobe fella's fer sure...but I reckon that them and me don't quite fix right with folks who go around stealin children." he set aside the block of wood he'd be working on half finished. "So like I said...I was fixin ta handle the problem maself...but if you two fine gals are gonna handle it, more power to ya. If ya'll don't mind I think I'll hang back and use ya as a distraction then, iffin ya'll don't mind."

The man smiled slightly wider at the girls both standing before him, a funny little air of self assuredness coming over his face as he slowly rose to his feet, giving a stretch. "Yeah, in fact that sounds like a good idea. It'll let me see what you two fine little ladies can do." he stated, his accent still in place. "I'll grant ya, swee things like you don't come around but every so often, and I spose that since ya at least seem ta have figured somethin's up, I'll break character and show myself to ya just this once. Ya'll got me, just this once. Consider it a free bee." he winked...a his figure exploding into a brief show of smoke, before revealing a very different sort of figure.


Phantom

From the smoke, an entirely different air seemed to come, the debonair charm and a rather easy going confidence sinking into the wind coming from a strange figure in white, his young handsome visage beneath a white western styled hat, coupled with what appeared to be a monocle. He merely lifted an eyebrow, as though was all that needed to be said in his defense, his voice now far more cultured. "I do apologize for the deception...but we actors all must play our parts hmm...?" with a quick hand cupped the each of the girls by one of the cheeks, offering a wink. "My name is Phantom, and as soon as you two fine ladies come out of shock at my charming appearance, please feel free to address me as such. Professionalism aside, you being the keepers of the law and I an outlaw, i would like this relationship to be a pleasant one. please let us, though we stand on opposite sides, hole no grudge with another." he seemed to cast an eye over both their faces. "Hm hm," he gave a youthful chuckle. "You'd best be careful. Two lovely faces such as these would fit right at home in my collection of art...I might have to send warning letters that I'm going to steal you next." he leaned in unnecessarily close. "You girl's don't mind serving as the distraction do you? I do hope that you don't put yourself in any unessary danger...I wouldn't want anything to happen to you on those poor children's behalf, let alone my own." with a sudden spring backwards the man grabbed his cane, his face still undaunted in it's confidence. With a sudden flicker, he seemed to suddenly be some distance away down the road, his cape swishing about him as he called. "I'll be around, dear ladies...may we meet again..." the cape seemed to be the medium for a jutsu, a basic academy one, but used effectively...as he seemed to vanish from sight...

Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Technique)
The user utilizes the sheep hand seal or the tiger hand seal and concentrates their chakra to assume the appearance of another person, an animal, or even any object. This is one of the required basic jutsu taught at the Ninja Academy.

Kakuremino no Jutsu (Cloak of Invisibility Technique)

This technique is where one uses a cloak or a piece of cloth to make oneself blend in with the background, making oneself appear invisible.

Requirements: Learn in the academy.
Training: 1 stage.
Stage I: Stealth DC 10. Learn to hide and effectively use camouflage, utilizing your chakra to enhance the effect.
Special: +2 to your Stealth check when hiding.


Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique)
A high-speed movement technique. It is described as 'appearing with the wind and disappearing like the wind.' Using chakra to activate the body, the user is able to move from one point to another with extreme speeds. This super-fast movement is almost impossible to see with the naked eye. To a normal person, it would seem as if the user has teleported.
Cp cost: 15 or 1 per ft

Requirements: Dexterity 20, Chakra Control 10, Ninjutsu 8
Training: 2 stages
Stage I: Dexterity DC 15 {d20 + dex mod} First of all, a ninja much be able to run fast. Get your speed up to scratch rookie!
Stage II: Chakra Control DC 20 Now practice fielding your chakra towards your leg muscles to enhance their power. If done right, you should move at an accelerated pace with minimal side effects.
Special: When rolling initiation checks or racing, or anything that involves speed, add chk mod to the dice roll. Does not nullify Stealth checks.

((You notice something about the young man's wording...he didn't say bait...he said distraction. As though he suspected that they would be moving in plain sight. Phantom was rather notorious for his modus operandi of working solo, but if indeed he was trying to help them, much like everything he said in his letters, perhaps it should be examined more closely...

For example it WAS rather odd that Phantom might send two young ladies directly into harms way... and even MORE odd for him to be so frivolous with with ladies attentions. It was perhaps to be expected for someone of his reputation, but if one had even glanced at the actual case files for each of his robberies, it didn't seem to click. Why then would he reach forward in such a way, blocking his own mouth and there's from view from the...sides...? Unless he was intentionally trying to stop someone from reading lips... and the fact that he new nothing of their skills with stealth, yet assumed that they were going to be a distraction...

Unless he was implying...that they were already being watched... he was never straightforward as such, always speaking in metaphors and riddles... but the other things that strikes as off was that when he vanished he did so in the opposite direction of the villages, as though to imply to any prying attentions that he wasn't going way...while telling them that he intended, if indirectly, to help them rescue the children... it seemed that there might have been more to this encounter with the mysterious phantom thief than met the eye... ))

((Reaction: Same for both. As you approach the village, you see that it seems to be nestled rather comfortably in a small makeshift valley nestled between two slowly tumbling hills, the farms and homes spread out across them. Everything seems to be more or less in order at the moment, the sleepy looking little village showing no signs whatsoever that anything might be amiss. Well...to the casual eye. You are able to note, and avoid, as you cross into the village fringes along the tree line, that there's a good deal of wire traps attached to explosives notes along the border, which you easily manage to spot, but would have been in deep trouble had you been paying less attention. You also notice that there seem to be a few men patrolling around the village occasionally, your even able to pick up on the pattern they seem to going in. They don't appear to be ninja, because you're able to rather easily avoid detection by them, and there's no real sense to attentiveness or danger about them. You suspect that you could rather easily slip by them.

while you can't see too much more from your perch in the trees, you note several land marks about the village,

An abnormally large granary

And, even more oddly, at the exact center of the village, what looks like it might have been another cart loaded with rice...out of the proper season. you don't know what they were carrying in that cart, but it wasn't rice...

((You manage to slip around to the top of the Granary without being detected, the interior of the structure coming into view...only to give you a rather damning look into the villages inner workings. Inside the granary are stockpiles of weapons and what appear to be crates of explosive tags. There's a great deal of "fire power" here, as it were, and off hand from looking at it closely, you'd guess that some if has been recently shipped off to another location, as you continue to inspect the granary, you hear voices below...


"...ust don't think it's right...their just kids..."

"All the more reason not to let the Otobe get their hands on them! You want them brain washed into fighting for them like mindless calves to the slaughter! They're better off out of the country...another few days and we'll be able to safely get them across the border."

"Are you sure that these...people, can be trusted...?"

"They're mercenary's...I don't know who hired them, but they've a reputation for honest business practice. If they say their job is to help us...their not lying."

"But what if whoever hired them is helping us only to use us...it won't do any good to oust the Otobe if something even WORSE takes their place..."

"There isn't anything worse..." muttered the man with a frown. "Don't be like the rest of the nation and by into all this...prosperity. They intend to lead us to war...they don't care who they hurt so long as they get what they want."

"...I know that your brother was..."

"THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!" the man slammed something into the ground. "They're evil....and we WILL stop them..." the man walks off...

"What was his problem...?" inquired another voice.

"Ah, did you forget? His brother was at Oto...he died in the reclamation."

"Ah...yes. I forgot. Where are we going to bring the weapons...?"

"We'll wait. The hatch in the elder's house is too conspicuous if we're already being watched. We'll take them through the bases back entrance over by Taka's house when it get's dark."

"Right. I'll go check around to see if it's clear."

"Good idea."



The one of the farm house's with an abnormally large cellar door suddenly seems a bit more relevant...but it seems a bit too out in the open, you'll need to be very stealthy to approach it now...))

((The two men seem to be standing guard over the stockpile of weapons, you can glimpse their shadows standing outside the door, the the interior of the granary is indeed full of weapons and cheap padded armor, though you don't think much of it would be suitable for a ninja to use, sue to the lower quality. The explosive tags are another matter, but they're boxed up in crates. It would probably cause quite a racket getting them open, though it is certainly doable. Off hand you'd guess that if you could take more than one of the the crates with you, it would cause a bit of a ruckus, and they would take notice, however one of the crates missing might not immediately make them aware of your presence.

It would seem your options here depend entirely on whether or not you intend to get cause, or whether you have a more creative solution to the problem...))
