"Well you are a female" Alak offered up in defense. It only made sense that a girl would lunge at the chance of filling a clearly vacant position of power. It sometimes made Alak wonder what was up with this city. It had no one in charge at all. It was like the Dark God had forgotten that some structure was sort of needed. Alak wrinkled his nose at Spin as she would burst out into laughter. "Intelligence has never seemed to be females strong points when it comes to dealing with males...in my experience." He adds with maybe just a sulking tone to his voice. His eyes roved down the length of the road as he shifted uneasily. The unexpected compliment left him unsettled. Which was saying a lot for a guy with eight legs. "I don't feel like I've relinquished anything. I was born here like this, not as a drow. So I simply am what I am." His fingers drummed over the upper muscles of his arms as he considered edging his way down the wall. Hanging upside down for so long was making the blood rush to his head...

Spin blinked and stood back, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "I suppose that is the right attitude to have about it," she admitted after a moment, "I remember being... different than what I am now..." it was all still quite blurry and foggy in her mind, "...I think perhaps I died..." She looked somber for half a moment, then pretty much shook it off with a quick motion, like a dog shaking off an excess of water, "But it doesn't matter- I am alive, no matter what the circumstances. Perhaps I am still allowing myself to cling too much to the past- and I never even really liked it that much to begin with." She gestured vaguely, "I suppose I shouldn't have laughed- I knew plenty of females who -would- seriously try and take over any strange place they ended up in," she chuckled, but it was less aimed at the drider, "but I'd like to think they'd only get their fool selves killed for it." She tilted her head, grinned, "I am sorry, sir drider," she murmured- and it was only somewhat teasing- maybe there was a slight real apology buried in there that she would deny. It was getting easier, really, speaking with males.

Well...if nothing else the female had made a point of not...well..being threatening. Slowly Alakvyld crept down from the ceiling so he was no longer upside down. Moving his hands through his hair, he straightened it from the slightly frizzy upside down tangles he had gained. "I'm not sure about dieing or not. I mean, I have knowledge of that other place but no real connection to it. Just a strong wariness of any female that seems to be from there." Which he assumed she'd understand without him having to explain.
"Alakvyld." He suddenly threw out to her. Sir Drider seemed almost itchy in his ears. It made him want to scratch his head to get the feeling out. "So..what are you doing down here anyways?"

She smiled wryly, "It's a far more useful instinct to carry over than some of the first things I was able to remember." Spin didn't kid herself- if there was one thing she could pick and choose as a general thing to remember, even -she- might think 'Stay away from drow females' to be a useful instinct. "Hmm, Alakvyld.... I go by the name of 'Spinneret,'" she replied, impulsively, "It's not my birth name, to be sure... and I suppose it's slightly childish... but I've been calling myself that in my head since I got here. So, it's my name." She shrugged and moved on, "As for what I'm doing here... I was just walking home and I got lost," she pointed at the bag at her side, "I stole some things from the surfacers and had to make a quick getaway to the roads." The drowess seemed entirely shameless and unrepentant about stealing things.

Alak thought nothing of the name when it was given to him. It just seemed very..drowish. Thus proper. However, when the woman would feel the need to explain, he shrugged his shoulders some. "Well, your in a new land. Nothing wrong with a little reinventing." He mentioned to her. Alak's eyes peered over towards the items she had stolen, and he casually scraped a foot against the earthy ground. "The Umbra roads do seem to make for good get aways. I don't think there are many on the surface that would just leap into one of these roads on impulse. There is no guarantee you will end up getting back home."

The drowess found herself pleased when he didn't seem to find her name odd or anything- it wasn't exactly -entirely- drow-like, but it wasn't far from the theme. It fit her much better than her birth-name, though... more like a comfy blanket than the stifling mantle of her old life. ...but that was enough reminiscing, even if she'd only done it for a moment. She made a grand gesture, speaking theatrically, "Ahh, but I have -faith- on my side, Alakvyld!" Spin snorted, her tone dropping back to normal-for-her, "Well... some faith. I would rather just try and make my way back to the city myself somehow instead of mewling like some helpless infant to my Lord every time something doesn't work out my way," she paused, "I might as well ask if perchance -you- know the way back to the dark city? Since I'm speaking to you and all."

Oh...the look of such disgust rippled across Alak's face at that grand show about Faith. If there was one thing he did not have, it was 'faith' in beings other then himself. Even though it was clearly more of a joke, Alak had a hard time wiping the disapproving grimace from his face. "I personally don't think the gods should involve themselves in out lives at all." He remarked after a moment. "They are gods, not parents...and even parents should smack their kids around when they get annoying." Alak glanced back over his shoulder to look down the tunnel. "I was trying to get to the forest...but I guess if you keep going down this way, it'll take you to a main road, which will be easier to follow to the city."

Ahh, well, maybe she -wasn't- getting the hang of talking to males after all. She half-smiled cynically, "I won't argue with you," maybe if she had been new to her faith, she would have. As it stood, well, she realized she was only just learning about her own faith and didn't entirely understand it herself. "I just suppose I disagree- sometimes if someone in power shows a little mercy or guidance, well... then perhaps a follower or even a child shall prove a useful ally someday," she shrugged, "That is all," she chuckled wryly, "But this is coming from someone who found a home because of a god's indulgence... and someone who hasn't had any of her own children yet- just helped raise a younger brother." She eyed the drider, her smile broadening, "But I suppose I understand- you must be terribly strong yourself... I doubt you've needed much in the way of indulgences." ...she was flirting, flattering a little- she just couldn't resist after all, he was so elegantly put-together! "In any case, I thank you for the direction."

A woman that wouldn't argue. Alak had to bite his tongue to keep from making a unfriendly remark. Spin was being, by most terms, very agreeable. "I can't say I am in the habit of being charitable like that. Though I have not seen anyone needing help, or a child, wandering around here." Alaks lips curled enough to show the pointed tips of his fangs. "Other then you." he added with a small degree of humor.
Antar felt himself straitening up some as Spin would compliment his strength. With a clearly vain flick of his hair he replied. "Not even the dark beasts bother me in the tunnels." Of course all the ones he had come across were all smaller then him... "Mmm..oh...it's nothing. I mean, your heading this way anyhow. You would have figured it out on your own."

The insult just seemed to roll off her- frankly her pride had suffered worse wounds and gotten over it, and she knew she was a little foolish for getting lost. Once she either found her brother or she gave up on finding him and learned a little more self-defense, she would have to learn her way around a bit better... Spin chuckled, "Ahh, so you think perhaps I'm helpless... but not entirely -hopeless-, hmm? Or at least I'll take your words that way. Even if it's not much help, I'm still thankful- I haven't had much of a chance to talk to anyone, let alone someone as... exquisite as yourself," she straightened her clothes and sighed, "I only wish I'd gone out looking my best today. Damn..."

Alak shifted his stance a bit while Spinnert would pick at his choice of words. he let her, simply because he was eyeing her now and considering...hmm..How would she react if he jumped her? He didn't see a weapon on her..and he did indeed think of her as helpless... Still..she called his exquisite..and that was a hard thing to ignore. Alakvyld tossed his hair over his shoulder and watched her straiten her cloths.
"Your cloths are very...plain...I had assumed you were someones slave lugging around their possessions at first." He decided to explain in a more then likely ill formed desire to be honest. Alak turned and started to crawl down the tunnel. "Come on..I'll escort you back to the main road, in case anything big followed me up here."

Her hands continued to fiddle with her clothing for a moment, but her eyes followed the motion of his hair. It looked so -silky-, mmph. Oh, wait, what was he saying? She made herself tune back in and stopped her hopeless fiddling. Spin snorted, "I am merely someone who only possesses one good dress and who wishes for it not to be torn- it's not really my area of expertise, repairing such things." She eyed him, "Though I do suppose you may not have to deal with clothing issues. I can't really blame you," oh, on the contrary, she was most appreciative of the view... where was she again? "Ahh, I do like your circlet, though- very elegant." Spin scuttled along after him, continuing to prattle, "Oh, so if something followed you, are you going to throw me in front of it?" she seemed quite chipper, really, for saying such a thing, "Or do you merely wish an audience for your inevitable victory?" she flattered, "...or maybe you just think the idea of a female trying to poke something to death with a stick is humorous."

"Yes...I suppose only having one set of cloths worth wearing is something to be frustrated about." Alakvyld casually ran the tip of a claw over his naked chest while he walked along. His other hand lifted to touch the circlet on his head, and he couldn't stop himself from replying with a hint of pride. "I found this in the same cave I had awakened in. It was clearly meant to be mine, or was all that was left of the one who had carried my capsule down here." His fingers stopped on the gemstone in the middle, so he could rub it thoughtfully.
His eyes slid back to Spin as she would question him about what he would do if something did happen to cross their paths. "You have forgotten the most obvious answer." He chastised her. With a flick of his hand down the tunnel he rather arrogantly boasted. "The thing will run away at the sight of me. Though seeing you poking a darkbeast with a stick would be good for a laugh. Particularly once it chewed off the tip and started trying to take a bite out of your firm a**."

Watching the drider touching his circlet made her grasp her own pendant without really meaning to- it was the plainest piece of jewelry she owned, but it was also the one she rarely ever took off. To be fair, even if she did take it off, she felt uneasy until she could put it back on... she supposed it was a bit ridiculous, but it was comforting- even if she had to clean it constantly so it didn't get smudged from all her handling. "Yes, I had other pieces of jewelry, and my dress- they were on me from the first moment I remember, and they seemed familiar enough... so I never questioned if they belonged to me or not-" she half-smiled, "not that I'd give anything -back- if anyone claimed any of it!" Her half-smile turned into a velvety sort of chuckle, "Ahh, beg pardon, Alakvyld- sometimes my imagination fails me and I can't think of the mindset of someone running away from you, wise though it may be," her red eyes glittered in the darkness, "Oh? My -firm- a**, did you say? Are you just presuming or have you been -looking-?"

Alak turned over in his mind the curiosity of just being...born with cloths. "It must have something to do with being dolls." He finally decided. His head tilted some to glance at Spin as she would seem to brush off how clearly fierce he looked. It was because she was a drowess of course. That was the only reasonable answer. Alak's head jerked back slightly, his calm and controlled expression faltering. "I...no...of course not!" He choked while his gray cheeks started to turn a odd sort of purple gray. His eyes moved off from Spin to stare down the tunnel. "I was not staring at all."
