Jacin gave a shake of his head, "I... I wish I knew." He murmured, wished he knew what drew them out of the village that day, wished he knew what sort of 'monster' it was that had taken them, he wanted to know so that he could hunt it down, exact his revenge, but all he recalled from the night that it had happened was overhearing the others talking about the 'monster' that took their parents and no real specific details other then that. When it came to telling them the elders had just put it in simple terms that children could understand, that 'their parents were gone' and that 'they wouldn't be coming back'. They were little at the time but even they knew what that meant, that their parents were dead. It had been a rough blow to deal with but having Kei had help Jacin through it, knowing that he wasn't completely alone in the world.
"Maybe one day we will understand better." Maybe one day he would find out the identity of what it was that took them and he would deal with it with his own two hands. Sure it had been some years and the odds of the monster still being around might be slim, but that wouldn't stop him from searching. Giving a bit of a smile, trying to cheer her up, "Come on now, little Kei, let's try to perk up and look at all the good in our lives instead of looking instead to the bad. Just look around us, we are in a whole new world here." He said, giving her a pat on the back.
Leaning over he whispered, "You need to be careful Kei, can't have anyone seeing you with puffy eyes, you look a bit like that derpy frog of yours and that won't attract Enki." He was prepared for a punch in the gut, deserved it too, but if it got even the slightest smile out of her it would be worth it.

Like any child may do Keilana only pouted at his slight teasing, she knew he was just trying to get her back to the way she normally was, a independent woman with a quick temper. Yet despite all that she felt herself rub her eyes with the back of her hand and sigh. She hated crying, hated how heavy her chest felt after sobbing, how puffy eye's always betrayed what you were doing.
"We..well I don't think we need to worry about him liking me....you know he's too old for me anyway."" Keilana tried to pick up the conversation though her words got caught in her throat earlier on. Keilana knew that her 'crush' on Enki was superficial...he was easy on the eye's a nice fellow but she couldn't exactly see herself with him...or any man for that matter.
Though she couldn't see herself with friends either until Animah forced herself upon her. "Do you think...we are too independent? I mean....I ...talked with a girl..surely you met her Animah? The ...stupidly bright and cheerful one? Yeah...and I know we didn't want people to take pity on us...but there are some people who ...are so restricted they can't function in the world without being supported....I...well I dunno..." Keilana got out all those words and had no idea what she was trying to say.
"I mean Animah doesn't know how to do ANYTHING, gather...or hunt for herself...she basically admitted to me that she probably wouldn't last long on her own...I dunno..I ...kinda want to fix that."

Jacin gave a chuckle when she said that Enki was probably too old for her anyway, "Could be, let's just not let him hear us saying that." He said in a whispered tone, as though the man might pop up from behind any rock around them with hurt feelings. He couldn't quite see that happening but it was an amusing mental image nevertheless, the idea of their leader skulking about to see what the younger crowd thought about him... it was something that caused the slightest chuckle to escape his lips.
When the conversation turned from love, something he thanked the spirits of Tale for, he found her asking if they were too independent, "Is that possible to be too independent?" He found himself asking, he liked being able to take care of Kei and himself, to be free of the worry that he would end up further indebted to others of the Leaf Tribe, and instead he was able to give things to them. When there was mention of Animah his ears gave a thoughtful twitch before he gave the slightest of nods, "I think I know her, yes." He couldn't help but to find Kei's description kind of amusing 'stupidly bright and cheerful' she'd sad, it did kind of describe her, didn't that just sound like a Kei description of something? He listened to what she was saying, about how there were those so restricted that they couldn't function without support, he gave a bit of a face at that, "I will never be one of those people." He vowed, instead he'd rather be the sort that supported others.
"I must say the idea that she can't hunt or gather makes me worry a bit, isn't she bothered by that?" He mused, then found himself openly starring at his sister when she said that her friend of sorts was just waiting for the end since she wouldn't last long on her won, "Yeah... kinda makes me want to give her a thump on the head." He muttered.

Keilana chuckled and nodded her head slowly, yes it worried her as well that Animah had no skills of survival. Did that mean her parents did everything for her? What...a strange thought. Would they themselves have turned out the same if their own parents had lived? It was a disturbing thought. Would Keilana had been the bubbling ball of energy Animah was? Cherish the thought.
"Aye the idea that she can't do anything on her own...really is bad. I mean...what would she do if she ended up separated from the group?" Keilana asked more as a open question than one that wanted a real answer. After all...the thought immediately followed a grisly image of a rather dead Animah on the ground.
"Hey...maybe we should try and help her...you know...teach her some things that could help her survive." Keilana sounded a bit dubious given how...cheerful Animah was...she was pretty sure killing any animal would be faint worthy to her.

Jacin made a bit of a face, "I doubt it would go well if she got separated from the rest of the group." He murmured, wondering why it was that her family allowed for her to go on through life without learning how to care for herself. It made him wonder if their plans for her were to just have her married off to a hunter or warrior that might be able to take care of her in their stead? Still, that wasn't the best idea since people weren't invincible. It was something that they had learned personally when they were still quite little.
At the mention that they should try to help her he gave a slow nod of his head, "It might be a good idea. We are her fellow tribesmen and we shouldn't leave her to be eaten by witu just because her family didn't train her." Certainly not as well as Jacin and Kei had trained themselves and each other, "We will do what we can. Well... provided she will allow it, she might not appreciate meddling." Which was how some might seem them showing up and trying to drag their fellow Leaf Tribesman off to learn how to hunt, or even just the simplest things like climbing trees to get food... not that they had many trees in this place. They would need instead to climb the rocks in the stead of the trees he decided. Giving his sister a smile he said, "If you can get the girl to come work with us I see no reason why we can't try."

Keilana looked up to the sky leaning against her brother's legs and rocked from side to side like she had when she was little. A small humming coming from her lips as she thought on his words. Keilana had already discussed it with Animah before, brought up the subject of training though she had no idea if her brother would be on board for such a task, for Keilana imagined it was going to be a difficult one.
"I don't think she would mind, in fact I ...kinda already brought it up to her. She is the kind of person who probably can't say no to anyone." Keilana pointed out with a shrug. Leaning back she looked up at her brother giving him a small smile, to indicate she that her crying spell seemed to have pass. Her eyes still were puffy but no more tears seemed to want to threaten to spill out of them.
"I think..it could be a lot of fun....and we don't do that often...we are always so busy..."

"Someone that can't say no, huh? Well I suppose that means that she won't argue over every little thing that we try to tell her to do, that's a plus." He said, one ear twitching, "It's impossible to train those that aren't willing to listen after all." The more hardheaded the person was the more difficult it was to get something through their skulls, were the girl a stubborn one he wasn't sure how well the training might go. That she was the sort that would actually listen would help... though at the same time that could very well get a person in trouble. What if she obeyed the wrong person after all? He shook his head, not wanting to think about it.
Glancing at Kei when she said that it could be a lot of fun he gave a bit of a laugh, "Fun for us maybe, I don't see your friend having as much fun." He said, giving a grin, then said, "I hope that she will be ready to work hard. I am not about to make it easy on her and I can't see you doing so either." He would make sure that she fell over after her first round of training from exhaustion. It would mean that she worked her absolute hardest after all.

Keilana rolled her eyes, thinking back to how Animah had dragged her off and wanted to talk about animals and how she wanted one for herself. Giving a snort of a laugh at the memory about how Animah's thought the spitorog was cute, she thought she may as well tell her brother more about the girl.
"Animah..is more the type of girl you could picture her singing and having all the animals come and adore her. In fact that spitorog that stalks me all the time she thinks is my pet. She was actually jealous of the idea that it was my pet. I quickly corrected her..." Keilana hurriedly added at the end,
"I think we will mostly be the ones needing to be patient with her...since she has absolutely no skills.." Looking at her brother she gave him a grin and then slowly got up stretching. "Alrighty weren't we going to try and get you some practice with that bow?"

Jacin made a bit of a face at the mention that the girl that they were going to train was the sort to sing to animals, "Huh... well if she wants to sing and lure them in it would make hunting easier." He said in a joking manner, wondering what Kei's friend might think about such a suggestion, given she was the 'pet' sort he doubted she'd be amused. Pets... it was just lost on him. Sure, the idea of maybe raising animals to eat might work, but a pet was something altogether different and useless if you asked him. That damn frog especially, "I have to say I am half surprised that the idiot frog didn't somehow make it all the way here." If Kei had opened her pack to discover it there, blowing bubbles all over her things, he wouldn't have been surprised in the least bit. It seemed to know where she was at all times with disturbing accuracy.
"Patient I can do but I am not going to go easy on her or she isn't going to learn anything. Especially since I am not sure how much time we might have to train her with." He supposed it would depend on how often the girl would be able to join them for lessons.
At mention of trying to get up and practice with his bow he gave a nod of his head, "Yeah, I do need to work on that. The more practice the better, I want to be ready to fight with anything." Though he was sure he wasn't quite yet ready, even with a bow, to deal with the crystal spiders. One day though, as it was that seemed to be the biggest goal that he had set up before him, to one day claim a crystal spider body as a trophy, likely a gaudy and sparkly trophy but still a trophy. Giving a bit of a grin at the thought he moved to scoop his things up, "Gonna see about setting that trap of yours? See if we can snare something delicious." Though what did they have in Sauti that was delicious, that was the question.

At the mention of the frog Keilana bit her cheek, did she dare mention that the frog had...followed them? Some how? She wasn't entirely sure HOW but it had though she would admit that she hadn't seen it recently. Not since arriving in Sauti anyway. Perhaps it had gotten lost...or starved to death...
A smidge of Keilana was worried about the spitorog, after all it's presence had become...common place and predictable. Looking around she wondered if it DID make it here, when it would show itself. Or when.
"Oh ..well that thing has a stubborn will to live..." Keilana stated offhandedly now wondering if it was ...watching her this very moment.
"Allright lets see...what could you shoot at?..." She murmured looking around as..there were very few tree's to practice on and rock just seemed foolhardy to shoot at, more likely to break your arrows than be productive. "Spirits above..this place is sure desolate."

"I don't know about stubborn will so much as it's so stupid it can't die." He said as he walked along after his sister, watching her closely, wondering if her stupid stalker pet had actually followed her as far as this. He wouldn't put it passed the thing though how it had gotten as far as this he had no idea... dumb luck most likely.
As she posed the question of what he could shoot at he found himself looking around, "That is... a good question. There really isn't much to this place is there? Just rocks on top of more rocks, and then to add a bit of diversity... rocks! I don't know if I am too keen on coming back here again." Even if he might like that golden hair, both because it reminded him of treasure and of the sands of Tale, he couldn't say that he was too terribly fond of Sauti itself, "Strange to find a place that feels more desolate then even Tale, it really makes me miss our home." Even the hot sands, sparse plant life, and nippy beasts were far more welcome in his mind then the endless supply of rocks they had here.
After a moment he gave a grumble and replaced his arrow in his quiver, "I will see about taking a shot when we find something that my arrows one dull themselves out on." He said after a moment of debate with himself. He didn't know where he might get more arrows so he didn't want to waste the ones he had.

It sounded like a cruel thing to describe the spitorog as being too stupid to die, but it was strangely very accurate as well. Keilana didn't really care, though she wouldn't admit to her brother she found the damned thing breakfast on occasion.
Looking around she brushed her hair out of her face and sighed before looking up at the sky. Clouds were gathering towards the taller mountainous ranges, but besides a lot of rock Then something caught the corner of her gaze and she saw it up in the sky high above. Using the wind to glide along.
Pointing up Keilana bent her back funny to get a better look at the critter.
"...How about that?" She inquired tilting her head slightly as if it would give her a better idea of what exactly it looked like. It seemed big enough though awfully high so it must be a predator of some sort.

Jacin lifted his head to look up toward what it was that his sister was pointing at, seeming to take in what it was that she was wanting him to shoot, "That, huh?" He couldn't help but to wonder if his sister was messing with him, telling him to shoot something that was so far away. At the same time he did need the practice... but if he weren't careful and missed his arrow might very well hit someone. He chewed on his lower lip in a thoughtful manner before giving the slowest of nods of his head, "I... should be able to get it, but I would like for us to get a bit closer. That way I will know if anyone is in the area. I don't know about you but I don't want to accidentally shoot anyone in the face today." Purposefully either, today he'd just rather shoot dinner, not a person.
Walking along with her he kept a close eye on the shadowy creature that was flying around over head before he looked around, "We might be able to get a good vantage point if we climb a little higher." He mused, then said with a laugh, "We should probably train rock climbing ourselves a bit if we are going to end up training that friend of yours while we are out here instead of at home." They didn't want to look as though they didn't know what they were doing after all he thought to himself before his ears gave a little twitch. As he looked around he spotted what he though looked like a good spot and motioned to it, "How about we climb up there and I can take a shot at what I hope will be a good dinner." He suggested before he started up the rocky slope before them.

Keilana actually laughed at his comment about shooting someone in the face, it seemed almost funny to think that the reason a war started was because of such a thing. She could almost picture the two of them trying desperately trying to explain that they were aiming for a bird that was quite possible too far away to actually hit.
Following after her brother she nodded her head at his observation. So..many rocks. "Ahaha yeah I suppose we should.." She mentioned though the idea of practicing that in the heat of the day seemed to be almost more defeating than doing it. looking to where he pointed she nodded his head and quickly followed up behind him.
Trying to follow him testing the same hand and footholds that he used she found that they were making pretty good progress. Though the times the rock would shift under her weight of come crumbling away from her fingers made her a smidgen nervous.

Once Jacin had finally made it to the top of the rock he stretched out all over, lifting his gaze to watch his target once more, then reached over to draw an arrow from the quiver, "Alright, we need to keep a close eye on where it falls or else we are likely never gonna find the thing when it does." He told Keilana, knowing full well that it would be easy to lose something here given all the rocks. It was yet another thing that he missed about Tale, he could likely shoot something there that was miles away and it wouldn't end up lost, just a bit sandy that was all... not that he thought he was near good enough for a miles away shot but it was just an example. The Leaf Tribesman set to notching his arrow, drew back, and set about taking aim, "Alright..." He was watching the way that the bird was circling, taking in its speed, the distance, the angle, even the wind at the moment. While practicing he'd learned that there were so many more things involved with this weapon then just pull back and shoot, it was a touch frustrating at times but he really wanted to get it figured out.
As his mossy green eyes narrow he felt he found the perfect shot, drew in a deep breath, and loosed the arrow... he watched as it flew straight on ahead, slicing through the air, and with a 'THUNK' hit the bird and brought it down. His eyes widened then, as though he were shocked that he'd been able to hit it before he quickly erased that expression and said, "Alright, that was easy enough. Come on, Kei. Let's see if we can't find our meal." He wanted to find it, not only because it was food but because he wanted his arrow back. Best not to waste them when he had no idea what might be coming next after all. Moving along as quickly as he could, stumbling a few times when the rocks he was moving across shifted, the archer seemed quite determined to get to the bird before any passing scavengers did. He'd shot it fair and square and he wasn't about to share with anyone other then Kei!
"Come on, Kei! We are always there!" Alright, he couldn't be sure of that, but he would like to believe that they were close at least. Come on bird, be nearby he thought to himself again and again as the two of them moved along the rocky terrain.
