Wait, what?
This wasn't how the meeting was supposed to go. Midnight was the only one who deserved answers. At a sound akin to muffled laughter Midnight whirled around to see Coda trying her best to contain the noise. Her gaze narrowed at her sister before she turned around to face Orion again. So he wanted to know her name. Midnight paused and thought about this. It was obvious that is she tried to lie that Coda would give her away. It looked like if she wanted information that she would have to give a little in return.
"Fine, it's Midnight's Whisper. Don't think this brings us any closer Orion. You might have won over my dear sister but you will not win me over that easily."
Midnight stomped the ground with her front hoof as if proving a point to herself and to the other two. She wouldn’t be as forthcoming now. If Coda wanted to spill all their secrets then so be it. If it came to that she’d happily take her leave from the conversation.

The laughter was getting harder to muffle as the conversation between Midnight continued. She had an inkling that Midnight knew that she had been bested and it wasn't sitting well with her older sibling. From the earliest times that she could remember Midnight had always been the one to call the shots. Coda caught her breath sharply as her sister indulged Orion's request and she locked gazes with her half-brother. When she was sure he was looking at her she gave a succinct nod to indicate that indeed Midnight was telling the truth.
At Midnight's last revelation she sighed. It seemed that Midnight's stubbornness had reasserted itself entirely. Coda knew that there was a good chance that Midnight would leave before this meeting was over. It was a sign of how well she knew her sister. If things didn't turn back to the way she wanted Midnight would leave.
"She speaks the truth Orion; do not worry. So you wished to learn the names of the rest of the family?"
Coda searched her brain and gave Orion a gentle smile before speaking again. "So you already know of our names. The remaining names are: Dusk's Resonance, Twilight's Murmur, Night's Requiem and Aurora's Ballad."
Coda paused in her recitation before glancing down at the ground. "There are more family members though. Aurora's had children already."

Orion listened to Midnight as she acquiesced to his demand and actually gave up her name to him. He nodded appreciatively towards Coda as she caught his eye and indicated that the name was indeed true. He sighed though as Midnight became a little more foreboding in her posture. She'd not stay it seemed if it didn't suit her. Mentally Orion was a little hurt that she would decide to flee rather than learn about her extended family. However he couldn't be too choosy he guessed. To learn that he had at least some other family running around was interesting. He could take this information back to Katell and their children. Speaking of which, it seemed like he had to hold up his own end of the bargain.
Orion listened to Coda in thanks for the names that she gave him and the extra little piece of information. "Thank you Coda," Orion paused to glance towards Midnight, "and thank you as well Midnight's Whisper. I have family too. My sister's name is Delphina. I have two children at the moment and they've had children of their own. The family is growing rather large it seems."

Midnight glanced sharply towards Coda as she revealed something even she hadn't known. She was an aunt now? Her expression might have softened before Orion began speaking again. She listened to what he had to say before pausing in thought. Just how large had the family grown on what seemed to be the other branch of the line? Midnight gave an impatient snort before grinding her teeth.
Now that she had what she wanted it was possible that she could take her leave? She'd not even excuse herself to Orion and Coda. Her sister could find her own way back. Midnight gave the skies a thoughtful look before turning around and heading off without even saying goodbye. She wasn't going to hang around any longer.

Coda's eyes were alight with excitement. There could be more family to meet. At the very least information had been exchanged that could benefit everyone. Well, at the sound of crashing foliage, almost everybody. Coda turned around to watch Midnight's form disappear into the surrounding darkness. She sighed once before gazing after her sister. One couldn't choose their family.
With another sigh Coda turned back to Orion. The stallion had been a fount of information this night and she had been glad to share information with him. "I do apologize for Midnight. It's just the way she is. Spoiled rotten by our father since birth and all. However I also thank you for being rather open and free with the sharing of information. I'd like to keep in touch if that is at all possible."
Coda quieted and let Orion mull over the decision. It'd be nice if a giant reunion could happen but it was unlikely that it would occur. "I suppose I should follow my sister to make sure she doesn't do damage to the next poor soul to come across her in the mood she's in. Goodbye Orion, it was nice meeting you."

Orion chuckled at the expression that Coda wore. He did not need to ask what she was thinking about. It seemed that although Midnight had been the one to find him that Coda was the one more interested in the rest of the family. He gazed thoughtfully at the spot where Midnight had taken her leave before realizing that Coda was speaking. As she apologized Orion made a sound of disgust. He let Coda finish was she was saying before he spoke up. "Coda, you should never have to apologize for someone else; Even if that someone is a family member. Midnight should apologize for her actions."
Orion watched as Coda made her exit. "By all means if you wish to come back and meet my family one day you would be more than welcome. We could make this meeting between us a regular thing. I'd like it if we could keep in contact. I hope that you feel the same."
Orion watched as Coda nodded to his suggestion and then turned away. He stood in silence as the mare disappeared after Midnight. This had been a rather interesting night.
