Picture perfect, that's what it seems Follow the leader, stay in the lines They've got this whole thing figured out, What will people think of what you've done this time? We'll leave this place behind, doesn't that feel right? She heard the knock on the front door from the kitchen where she was chewing on a piece of toast and talking to Dolly. She jumped down from the counter, curious as to who was at there house. Her parents and Michael were both out and her cousins were still asleep. As she walked towards the door, she saw Jupiter opening it and bowing to whoever was outside. She turned the corner and saw her best friend. "Cait!" She squealed, with a smile. She had reached the door by now and pulled her friend inside, hugging her. "What are you doing here?" She glanced down at Jupiter who was lugging in Caitlin's trunk. "And why do you have all your stuff? What's going on?" Gracie was thoroughly confused, although happy to see her friend.

"There is nothing more badass than being yourself." Caitlin was taken from her thoughts when the door open. She looked down at the creature that opened the door. She had never seen that before. Then she was pulled inside and wrapped into a hug by Gracie. "Hi Gracie, I like what you've done with your hair," She complimented and fidgeted with her figures. "I left home. I-I need a place to stay. I haven't told anyone. No, that's a lie, I've told Sam," Caitlin said awkwardly. She was avoiding telling her what happened the night before.

It was obvious Cait didn't want to talk about it, but as much as she loved her best friend, she couldn't just let Caitlin stay with her without some kind of explanation to give her parents. "Why did you leave Cait? You got to give me some kind of explanation..." She looked at Jupiter. "Please go wake up Elli and Ver and make them carry the trunk up to the guest bedroom."
"We can carry it miss." Jupiter said politely. But Gracie shook her head. "I don't want you two hurting yourselves." She replied before returning her attention to Caitlin. "Come Cait, Dolly will whip us up something to eat and we can talk."

"There is nothing more badass than being yourself." Caitlin frowned when Gracie pressed her. "My dad died..." She said quietly. "I'm not hungry, I ate before I left," Caitlin told her friend but followed her anyway. She glanced back at her stuff. She really hoped she wasn't intruding, maybe she should have stayed home with Darren. If not just to make sure he was okay.

"You're dad died? Cait... I'm so sorry." She whispered hugging her friend again. "If your not hungry... can I get you anything else? Something to drink? Or do you want to sleep.... or talk? Anything?" She chewed her lip, she couldn't imagine losing her parents or anyone in her family. She ruffled her hair, looking at her friend in worry. She noticed Cait look back at her things and gave her a sort of half smile. "Don't worry. You're not a bother at all. You can stay here as long as you like. My parents and Michael won't care and we've got lots of room for guests."

"I'm sorry to wake you misses, but Grace requested that you help carry Miss Engel's things to one of the guest bedrooms." The house elf bowed to the twins. Elli yawned and walked over to Cait and Grace. "Not that I mind or anything, but why exactly are you here?"Elli asked, looking at her quidditch team mate. Ver on the other hand was carrying Caitlin's things up to the guest room by herself.

"There is nothing more badass than being yourself." Caitlin listened to Gracie's offers. She doubted she would be able to sleep, even if she wanted to. Instead, the Gryffindor nodded, "Can we just talk? Please? I didn't want to talk to the police," She said and bit her lip. She slipped up, hadn't she? Why would the authorities be at her house if he died of natural causes? 'Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!' Caitlin mentally scolded herself. She looked up when she was addressed again and blushed. "I, uh, need a place to stay and this is the first place I thought of," Caitlin said awkwardly.

She said with a smile. She had heard the mention of police but she didn't want to get herself involved. Whatever was going on, must not have been good though. She walked off quietly, heading back up to the room she and Ver shared. "We'll see you guys later." She called before disappearing up the main staircase.

"Police?" She frowned. "What exactly happened Cait?" She asked. She was worried. A parent dying was one thing, but police being involved in the death meant it wasn't just from being sick or a heart attack or anything. Her father had been killed, and that could mean that her best friend was in trouble too. She chewed her lip looking at her friend with worry.

"There is nothing more badass than being yourself." Caitlin turned to face Gracie and took a deep breath. She looked at the ground and noticed her hands were trembling. She closed her eyes as she tried to remember. "It was late, I was working on some music a-and I heard someone downstairs. I went to investigate," Caitlin squeezed her eyes shut, "The man, he was drunk. I smelt it on him." She shook her head, "He wasn't a muggle. He shouted a curse. I couldn't remember where I heard it from, but I remember now. It was the killing curse. There was a flash of green light and he fell on the couch...He threatened me one last time and he left. I-I dunno why, he just did. He told me to watch my back. He called me a mudblood and said my family was full of filthy muggles. Do...Do you think he did it because of my heritage?" She asked, blinking back tears. Caitlin took a deep breath and fidgeted with the hemn of her shirt. She really didn't like talking about it.

She had grown up around muggle haters and blood purists. Her uncle wouldn't even speak with his daughter because she was living with a half blood littler sister. She didn't want to tell Caitlin that it was because of her heritage but she could see no other reason and couldn't come up with any good excuse. The way she described the crime, sounded exactly like how they had done it during the second wizarding war and how some still did it now a days in secret now but still done. The only off part was him being drunk. "I...yes it was probably because of your heritage. But that's not your fault, and whoever it was must have felt threatened by you to run. You probably saved your whole family by going downstairs when you did." She paused looking down at her fingers. "Cait...what do you want me to tell my parents... and uncle when they get home?" She asked. She wasn't sure her best friend would want the whole family knowing, and even though her uncle was alright with her and her father, she doubted he'd want Caitlin anywhere near the house if he knew her blood.

"There is nothing more badass than being yourself." Caitlin chewed the inside of her cheek. "I dunno. Will they get mad?" She asked. She really didn't want to get kicked out. Caitlin had never really experienced anything at Hogwarts because of her blood. "Do you think he'll come back? I mean, when I'm not there or when I'm caught off guard? When I don't have my wand? A-and I don't want to get expelled! They'd take my wand and then what would I do? Watch him kill my family until he gets to me?" She asked and rubbed her eyes, one of the reasons she didn't put makeup on. "Gracie, I'm scared. If he gets anyone else and it's my fault, if I don't protect them, I-I couldn't handle it. I can't handle it. My dad was killed right in front of me and I didn't do anything to stop it!" Caitlin vented off. She shook her head and looked up at her friend, "Sorry..."

"Don't apologize Cait. No matter what you told my family, my parents would do their best to not let my uncle kick you out. And you can basically tell him anything except your blood...." She trailed off, looking at her friend apologetically. "I don't know if he'll come back. If you want your family to be protected you gotta tell someone, the authorities or something. They'd protect them. But if he called you a mud blood he was probably angry about you not your family. With you out of the house... they're probably safer. You're not going to get expelled! You're allowed to use magic outside of school for self defense. And with you here, if he comes for you, you have a whole family of wizards to protect you." She ruffled her hair and gave her friend a sad look. "If he used the killing curse, there's nothing you could have done. That curse can't be stopped." She hugged her friend tightly.

"It's whatever you want to tell them, but if you don't wan to go to the authorities yet then I wouldn't tell them. We could tell them that your parents were fighting and you just wanted to get away..." Grace shrugged and ran her fingers through her hair. "My dad's at work, he's got some big case going on I guess, he's a lawyer by the way, and my mum's off shopping. She has some big meal planned for tonight I guess, and I don't know where Michael is, he just wanders off sometimes."

"How is that boyfriend of yours?" She asked, trying to smile, despite what happened. Caitlin ran her fingers through her hair again and couldn't help but wonder if there was anything she could have done to stop it. It crushed her how easily someone could be killed by magic. And to think she was almost killed.

"After he asked me out, we hung out like twice and then he basically dropped off the face of the planet... kind of like Jack. I think I just attract those types of guys." She shrugged again and sighed. It wasn't like she was afraid she wouldn't find another guy, she could get any guy she wanted really, it was just that she hated how every guy she liked kept walking out on her. She looked up at her friend and gave her a smile.
