" I can understand you, I sort of feel the same way. That's why I thought may be gathering some fear would be helpful... and least, it erases the emptiness.. a bit", she nodded to Mmur. " I just activated Medea's stature, and figured out it launches the portal to the human world. I didn't want to come alone because of the hunters". The alchemist was still feeling hungry; perhaps, she can reap out more fear? Eisheth was roaming down the outskirts on her mount, when she felt a human's presence. It was a small scareling, or as humans call them, a child; the alchemist didn't want to kill the creature, it proved to be much more useful just to scare Jack out of it. Just a slight manifestation of her fear revealed an enormous amount of Fear, which the horseman quickly absorbed. The feeling was overwhelming. At the very moment, she was trying to balance her inner Fear, feeling almost drunk, she noticed a familiar figure in the wood; was it a Death Priestess? Surely, according to her outfit, though it clearly wasn't Heidla. Eisheth though the silhouette was recognizable, she probably met her before... "Hello", she addressed the young lady smiling. " Enjoying you time here?" Fear: +4

Mmur nodded. It was a wise plan, both coming here after all that had happened and doing it in a group. He looked to quickly take another victim, but Eisheth's successful harvest had sent a flurry of confused children his way and he hesitated, waiting for them to pass. There were advantages to chaos sometimes, but rash action would not benefit them here.
As the alchemist addressed the newest member of their party, Mmur turned to the priestess as well. It had been some time since he had last seen Erintis, and he was glad to know she was none the worse for wear. She received a nod and a grin that more closely resembled one of his usual greetings before he temporarily slipped into the trees, searching for his next target.

Kiwi continued to sense a strange presence in the air. It was unsettling, and he struggled to refocus his attention towards the group of humans nearby.

Heidla watched Kiwi curiously. Could it be that the young one was too taken by the human world that it was so hard for him to concentrate? She smiled with comprehension: "You have not frequented the human world before, have you?"Then there was Erintis, and her presence was reassuring. Heidla look at her sister priestess trying to communicate with her eyes what she would not put into words. Something went wrong, again, or was it that life close to the happy turbulent virulent Amityville made Heidla so suspicious? She wondered what Erintis thought about Medea's disappearance and their recent adventures in the minipet world... There were a lot of small details in Heidla's recollection of it that did not fit the picture...

Heidla looked hesitantly at the member of the Famine party she didn't know. Could it be that they met at the prom? She frowned. She was not sure she recognized him, though his appearance seemed familiar. Or was she getting used to Famine company to start actually distinguishing those who in her Temple years seemed to her a faceless mass? Recently she has been almost enjoying their various personalities.... Anyway, horsemen fighting together rarely implied horsemen being friends, so it might be for the first time that they met, but that wouldn't be a nuisance to their task. She nodded to him in recognition of his presence, and watched him disappear in the leaves. Well, they'll save the introduction part for their way back.

So, last time she was definitely wrong. That was no abode for the elderly, as more and more youngsters were getting their appearance. A couple were hushed by Eisheth, and Heidla giggled with excitement as she saw their eyes widening in terror.
Fear. That was the essence of their power. The core of their existence, even. After the limited supply of fear in Amityville, here she was almost going berserk with opportunities. Her eyes were bright and wide as those of a wide animal. Wasn't it lovely to feel this free after awhile? Her mood cheered. Well, as long as she could harvest fear, she was sure to keep all her premonitions locked up in the back of her mind.
Making her fear aura take the shape of a nightmarish creature, she suddenly appeared in front of another human child. They screamed. She screamed back enjoying the havoc. Delicious. The stinging smell of fear in the air was delicious. She smiled viciously....

"A few times," Kiwi responded, rubbing absently at his nose with the back of his hand in an attempt to clear his senses. "Formerly, much of the Clan relied on what FEAR the scavengers brought back. However, I am still not feeling well, and I think it is in part to that ..."
Kiwi took a few steps farther from Heidla. To where exactly, he wasn't certain. He felt a bit dazed, almost as if floating through a surreal atmosphere. And down deep in his core, he could feel the longing calling to him. The greed, the need for power. But why?? ... why did he crave this power now?? ... why so suddenly, what had happened?? ... The boil struggled to recall, when a sudden aura in the air twisted and sharpened that greed, livening it.
FEAR. There was FEAR here. Pure. Untainted. Innocent. FEAR.
Kiwi's head snapped round, eyes wide, glowing almost in the dark of the night, to the small human child standing just in front of him. It was quivering, a moan on it's lips, eyes moist and trembling at the phantom orange-golden glow of eyes in the night, the dark shape of claws that tore towards it. But the FEAR that rolled off that little form was overwhelmingly sublime. Kiwi drew it in like the sweet cool waters of the desert oasis, allowing it fill and soothe him to his core. The hunger in him lessened, but only slightly. Even a thousand bloodied human corpses at his feet wouldn't be enough to sate such a thirst. Those humans had taken something precious from him, and he would not be satisfied til he had soaked all the FEAR from every last one.
At least he felt a good bit better at the moment. The clouded fog he had been wandering through, the restlessness, the uneasiness; Kiwi could feel it slip away with every drop he drank in. He left the child cowering and screaming. It was still young, and could be useful later on. Instead, he hurried back through the trees, relying on his fresh sense of FEAR to guide him back to Eisheth, Heidla, and the others.FEAR +2

Erintis emerged slightly from the woods smiling to herself, well even if that wasn't the BEST time of her life she did enjoy it quiet a bit. Seeing a woman greet her she nodded her head slightly, "A little...In fact, I am feeling a little better now."Walking over to Heidla and standing a little closer to the priestess she nodded her head slightly, "I do not remember the human world being so..."She stopped to think of the proper word as she looked around and sighed, "Bleak...I remember it being a source of great fear...that old woman barely gave off any fear before she fell down dead."Erintis felt a little pity for the woman but it was a passing feeling. His spot in the trees proved to be the perfect vantage point. It didn't take long for the villagers to return to the area, most of them certain the frightened children had simply overindulged in sugary candies. One teenage girl, a slight, mousy thing with bulging, damp eyes, pleaded with her muscular boyfriend to head back into the safety of the crowd, but he had other ideas. He chuckled as he lifted her off of the ground and carried her toward the river, and by the time her feet were back in the grass, she was giggling and slapping at him. The slaps weren't serious. Mmur couldn't feel their happiness, but he could guess by their expressions that their subsequent terror would be sublime.
He took his time, watching the pair as they joked and touched and laughed. The soldier had never had what might be termed a real relationship and couldn't really imagine what it must feel like to harbor lust for someone you purported to simultaneously respect and love. He supposed this was what it looked like. Maybe. Mmur had a feeling this was more like plain old lust. He supposed it didn't matter.
The soldier circled the couple, solidifying bits and pieces of himself—a clawed hand here, a glowing eye there, even a decaying hoof—but instead of just giving up and dying like the old woman had, these two fought. The young man shouted a word the horseman didn't recognize, a name perhaps, and the girl gasped and ran. She ran directly into Mmur. Her death was too quick.
He swayed on his feet as he approached the remaining human, the smile on his face the most genuine expression of happiness he had managed since returning to Halloween. He dragged out the young man's death for as long as he could, and when it was all over, he rejoined his fellows, silent but at peace for the first time in a while.

Eisheth was still riding her mount patrolling the outskirts of the human settlement stopping here and there to check how the things are going on with the rest of their group. She was full already, her body simply couldn't absorb more Fear after such a long period of abstinence (pretty much like humans getting drunk with just a pint of a fine ale after months of non-drinking), so the alchemist decided to guard the other horsemen who were still satisfying their hunger with the humans. She noticed Heidla who was almost full herself; she, and another Death priestess, what was her name? Erintis? - were rummaging through the forest with some sort of vicious smiles on their faces. Eisheth shrugged: if she was a Halloween denizen those two would probably give her creeps, such a sharp balance between cuteness and danger they created. " It's not the Human world which is bleak", she replied automatically, even knowing the priestess' words weren't addressed to her. " It's we who are weak this time, considerably weaker than last time you've been here", she had to admit. Mmur appeared to just finish the human couple: at least, the soldier got back his normal facial expression; he still didn't look happy, but was much more like his normal self this time. " After we return... can we talk may be?", she was a bit surprised with her request herself. " Would be better to talk to Cym, though, or one of the sages, but I figured out we all might need to speak out what happened to us in the minipet land. May be... may be that would help us to remember, even without trance session". The alchemist felt pity for her fellow Clansman, but she was also feeling pity for herself: their trip to minipet land was torturing her inside, she couldn't help feeling she lost or forgotten something very important that happened to them, and without Medea or Cymbeline around she simply couldn't manage explaining to herself what exactly happened to them. They were very dependable on the Head priestess and protectors, after all. Perhaps, thought Eisheth, that might be a good lesson for them all: the Lost Cland should learn to find the answers and explanations themselves, otherwise they gonna be doomed, if something happens to Medea... Lastly she did find her cousin, heading back to the place they appeared to; Kiwi seemed to get enough Fear from his victims, and his entire image was glowing with the Fear particles. For a moment Eisheth wondered, was that sudden fear explosion big enough for hunters to notice it, but then again, from what she knew, Human world was amazingly huge, and to tell the truth, she had no idea where they were, nor where the Hunters headquarters is located. " You all right?", she gave him a tender glance. " It doesn't feel like it used to be... I am almost full, I nearly got drunk with the fresh Fear, and at the same time my body tells me I should get more, and more, hundreds of those creatures. How long ago, Kiwi, we actually harvested Fear last time?... it seems like an eternity for me. We should probably revive this little habit before we end up as the powerless scarelings". Anyway, it shouldn't matter, since they are not going to stay here for long, and she will make sure to deactivate the statue after their returning.

Erintis looked quiet shocked when the alchemist spoke. "I suppose you could be right...however, I do believe that there should still be a great deal of fear to be had...if we only knew where to start."She trailed off as she looked around, wondering to herself as she slowly pulled away from the group she was drawn back to towards the sound of moving water, seeing a couple ahead of her she smiled. This might be a better source then the first time, blending in to the threes Erintis flashed her boline, just to give the illusion to these mortals that there was something shiny in the woods with them. The man turned and looked her direction and she quickly hid the silver, she smirked as he turned shaking his head telling his companion that he swore he saw something. Oh the sweet taste of fear was begging to roll off them. The girl she held him closer as they continued their walk just at a bit quicker pace. Manifesting a little more fear Erintis pulled her hood up and flashed the couple a quick glimpse of death itself, her boline raised. The man grabbed his mate as they started to scream in terror, oh sweet fear it was rolling off them in waves now. Erintis laughed as the man pushed his mate behind him yelling "run!" Where was she to go, oh no Erintis knew she was unable to move, with so much fear coming from them both she could feel it smell it taste it. It was quiet a feeling, letting wave after wave hit her until she ended their lives. Feeling much better about that particular hunt she grinned wondering if there was any more to harvest before heading back to the group. Looking back at the dead, she had laid them neatly on the ground allowing them to hold one another. Fear: +3

"Bleak?" Heidla mused. "Strange I thought it's me who's bleak, actually, the world seemed to be washed out for a long time.... " She rustled old leaves in dismay. " Do you really feel the world's changed, Erintis? Could it be somehow related to the recent developments in our world?" She looked up questioningly. " And also, doesn't even the fear seems different? I can't have enough of it...." She smiled weirdly. Eisheth was probably right. They were definitely weaker; should she hunt down someone else? "Say, Eishe, are you still hungry for fear?" she teased the Famine alchemist.

He looked at Eisheth with a faintly quizzical expression, inclining his head before responding. "Yes. Talking might do some good." Mmur was not one to ever truly discuss more than his most outward feelings, but his loyalty to Famine and his superiors won out in this instance. He would try to share. He did not know if he would succeed. The soldier yearned to be alone even now, but he remained on the outskirts of their little group, scanning the area for threats while the priestesses spoke.

Kiwi nodded as Eisheth spoke. She had described his feelings to perfection. "Yes, something is different ..." he glanced off with a slightly troubled look. Try as he might, it didn't make sense. Granted, when the isle of Famine still thrived, the scavengers had left almost daily to provide enough FEAR for the clan. Had the explosion of raw FEAR really weakened them so?? ... It made sense. The amount of FEAR the needed to sustain the entire isle was immense. Having that strong supply cut suddenly short was as grave as if the Famine Oasis had suddenly ran dry. They were weak, famished. And power, raw FEAR was what his being craved. He turned to the others and answered with a small nod. "We need this. Until we can adjust-" He paused, and corrected himself. "If we adjust to having a less constant power source."
Still ... in the back of his mind, Kiwi was wondering precisely why Medea had not yet ordered a new FEAR source created for the clan. She had been quite hush hush about the portal; perhaps this was a first step towards that goal. He dearly hoped so. The craving was almost unbearable, sustained as he was.
