Wtfing Day 2:
Alex's day had gone better then expected, and he was still on a bit of a happiness high from the day before. The training had gone fairly well, and he felt like he hadn't completely screwed anything up, so that was a plus. Really, how hard was it to clean tables? He had to work faster then he was really accustomed too, and it had been a little difficult, maneuvering around in shoes, but well...he didn't really walk all that steadily anyways so if anybody noticed, they hadn't said anything. The ghoul that had helped him get hired hadn't been there, and that was a bit of a let down, since she was really the only one Alexander recognized from the place.
Except for he who will not be named or mentioned because Alexander really just did not feel like letting his spirits get dampened by that complete a** hat.
Upon returning to the school, he debated going straight back to Yin's room, or stopping off at his own to check on things. It was at that moment that he fully remembered the weirdness from the day before, and that got him thinking about how he really aught to check on things in his own room to see how that poor kirinni was making out. Though honestly, it was very very tempting to skip out and head directly to Yin's, because the day before had been amazing (by Alex's standards) and it just made him want to spend more time with the weremantis.
But no, his room came first, and it was quite clear that things were still not right as he made his way through the cool hallway leading up to his room. For one, the shrub that he had kicked to the side was back in front of his door, and now there were several semi-crushed and wilted flowers, all strewn around it. He was just wondering if this was some kind of ongoing prank played by the gnomes, when he pushed it to the side again so he could get to his door, and pushed his way into his room.
Only to be greeted with more chaos then the day before.
Seriously, where the jack were all these scrags coming from? They were littered around the room, again, fresh bodies that left the air thick with the scent of blood. There was another, larger body in one corner as well, but it was mostly unrecognizable. And what the hell was that oddly ghostly looking thing moving around with the glowing red eyes? Whatever it was, the other pets weren't going anywhere near it.
Again, Alexander was just feeling incredibly overwhelmed by whatever was going on. His cycorgi was on a chair, yipping at him with it's tongue lolling out of the side of his mouth, the kirinni with the vivid red mane and tail sat next to him. Well, it looked as though he had made a friend/ally...so that was good, right? Still, this was just too much craziness to walk into, and Alex took a couple of steps back, out of his room, though this time he had the fore thought to lock the door before shutting it.
Just as he was about to close the door, he paused. Yes, things were chaotic in his room but...did it look somehow cleaner then it had the day before? Like, there was less garbage littering the floor? Maybe it was just his imagination. Alex finally pulled the door closed with an audible click.
He then stood in the hallway for a time, completely dumbfounded.
Before he finally left, he turned and bent down to pick up the pathetic looking flowers and the even more pathetic looking shrub, carrying them to the nearest waste disposal bin and dumping them inside before leaving.
Some time later, back at Yin's room, much earlier then he had been the night before and pushing his way inside, still wearing his work uniform and more then ready to get changed out of it.

This time, when Yin heard the door, he was still awake. Which meant that he knew what he had to do. Carefully leaving the book in plain view (and on a different page than the day before) he got up to go to the door. There was no need to rush, he would reach Alexander probably by the time he got the door shut. Alexander...looked different in that outfit, somewhere between what he usually wore (when it was clean) and his suit for prom, but it was a perfectly fine change. He simply walked up to him, put his arms around him, counted silently to himself all the way up to 10 (but slowly) and then backed away.
"Greetings Alexander. How was training?" He looked up at Alexander's face, not quite beaming but rather content with the feeling that he had totally nailed everything again today.

Alex was barely in the room, barely had the door closed behind him, when he turned and found himself already in a hug. This time it wasn't quite as shocking as the day before, and after what he'd just experienced back in his room, a hug seemed like just the thing to make everything all better again.
To think if Alex had actually just spent five minutes checking groanspring on his phone in the last two days he would have known exactly what the ******** was going on right now.
Mmmm, but hugs. Hugshugshugshugshugshugshugshugshugshugshugs...
Oh the hug was over. Damn.
Oh Yin was asking a question.
"It was good!" He said, rather happily, and again, completely forgetting about his dorm room problems. "I think I did a good job, anyways." It was hard to tell, because he hadn't actually gotten any feedback from the management, but as far as he knew he hadn't done anything bad.
"How was your day?"
He wanted another hug, but he needed to get his uniform off before got it wrinkled or dirty. It already had some dirt smudges on it from that stupid shrub and those flowers, but he was pretty sure he could just brush that off. He turned towards the closet, unbuttoning his things and grabbing a change of clothes while he waited for Yin's answer, and thought about getting more hugs.

Hug quota filled for the day, Yin could relax and just enjoy the rest of his evening. "I am pleased to hear that," Yin said with a smile. Really, why had he ever thought that relationships were hard or something?
"It was very productive," he answered, which for him was a good day. He could not imagine just doing nothing all day, but he had been out and about enough that he was content. "I was just reading a bit more before you came in." Well, reading about half of it. There were words that he did not quite understand, and when he got too hung up the entire sentence did not make sense. Still, he was reading. Kind of. "Oh I caught something for dinner if you are hungry?" He gestured to the corrividus. "And was there anything that you would wish to do tonight?"

Alex had a glance over towards the bed, seeing again the book that Yin had been reading the day before. He still found it odd that the other boil would want to read that particular book, as he really still thought it was probably much too difficult for him. But the fact that he was making an effort to improve in his reading skills made Alex happy. And hugging made him happy. Odd minipets in his room and dying plant life in the hallway? Not so happy, but he had no idea Yin was to blame for those things, so all in all?
Happy boilfriend was happy.
He had slipped out of his vest and shirt, then pulled on a plain black t-shirt before leaning against the wall and lifting a foot to pry off one of his shoes. Yin was mentioning something about dinner, and Alexander looked towards where he was indicating, inhaling before quirking an eyebrow. It was..not a rat? That was certainly different!
And there were just oh so many ways Alexander could have answered that last question, and he could have put bets down that Yin would not have been at all happy or amused by any of them. Besides that, he knew pretty much none of his interests appealed to the weremantis at all. There was no skeevee for them to sit down and watch together, no video games to play. Reading seemed awfully anti-social, unless he was reading out loud to Yin. They could go out, but they didn't have any money, so options were very limited.
"Uhhh..we could...." Hug more. Or cuddle. Cuddling is also fine. Maybe if you're feeling really adventurous, we could even... "What do you want to do? I've had a fairly busy day, for me anyways, and I'm kind of drained." He admitted with a shrug, though his eyes kept wandering over towards dinner. It was really hard to think around the hunger and the feelings, but he tried anyways.
"Maybe you'd like to go for a swim in the lake? Or go and relax at the hot springs?" Neither of these things really appealed to Alex, but after how happy Yin was making him, he was more then willing to do something for the other boil instead.

It was rather obvious that Alexander seemed to be thinking about food, and Yin went to go get the corpse for him while he was pulling off his shoes. Wait was that...a suggestion other than reading? To go do something? Yin already felt a bit perkier at the prospect.
"Either sounds fun," he decided. It was warm enough that the lake would probably not be freezing, and the hot springs were always nice. "Is there one that you prefer? Are the hot springs too warm for you?" He went to go look for his shabbiest pair of pants, then realized that he already had them on. Whatever. And he could just take his shirt off whenever they got there. All he had to do now was wait for Alexander to finish eating. "I hope they did not work you too hard," he added as an afterthought.

Well, Alex had really meant that he could just..sit back and watch since he wasn't the biggest fan of water. But if he had to choose between the two the lake seemed like the lesser of the two evils, since if he had to actually get in the water, it would at least not be unbearably hot.
"Thank you." He said, as Yin handed him his dinner, once his shoes were both off, not hesitating to tear into it with his teeth and swallow the mouthful before answering.
"The lake then, since the hot springs really are a little too warm for me." He replied, before tearing off another hunk of raw corrividus flesh with his teeth. "Nah, I think they took it easy on me today. I might have to go in again tomorrow, though. They said they'd call first. Have you eaten yet?" He asked, with his mouth still partially full. Alex had actually already had some food at work, so adding more on top of that without offering some to Yin felt incredibly greedy. If the weremantis accepted the food, fine, if not, he'd finish it off himself.
Once the meal was finished, he was ready to go, though he had to change out of his work pants first, something he didn't really want to do in front of his boilfriend because it still felt...weird. He may or may not have tried to hide himself in the closet with the door partially concealing him while he did this, which was ridiculous considering how tall he was and how little space he had to maneuver in. Still, he managed to get himself into some less then pristine clothing that he didn't mind getting wet before they headed out the door.

"I meditated," Yin explained as Alexander offered food. Really, at this point he did not need to meditate simply to remain "full," but it was still a good practice, and settling his FEAR could not be a bad thing if Nurse Cricket had taught him. Already he was thinking about the lake. He had not actually gone swimming there, mentally imagining that it would be much too cold, but now it was probably fine. He was entirely distracted, was Alexander changing clothing? Who cared.
Soon enough Alexander emerged from...the closet(?) and was ready to go. Naturally Yin rushed to open the door, racking his brain for new ideas. JackB came to mind, and while he highly doubted it would work...well he was going to try was he not? He began attempting to hum, his voice not awful but the tune...well probably nothing that Alexander would recognize, one of the songs he had heard priestesses singing when he had been with the Clan. But it was music, and he was serenading. Kind of.

Once out into the hallway and on their way, Alex slipped his hands into his pockets and trudged along. He wasn't exactly tired, but he hadn't been lying when he mentioned that he was feeling a little drained. He wasn't used to being on his feet all day, and his shoes were so uncomfortable that they made his right foot hurt. It was such a relief to be out of them, but he now found walking without them was almost awkward, as he had gotten used to them through out the day.
A strange sound caught his attention, and Alex blinked in surprise before glancing over towards Yin. Was he..humming? Had Yin ever hummed to himself like that before? It was a little off putting, and the zomboil had to wonder what he was so happy about or at least why he would choose now of all times to start doing something that Alex had never noticed him do before. He tried his best to just ignore it, however, since music just really wasn't his thing unless he could dance to it.
He tried to ignore it, but he couldn't. As they approached the lake, he felt like he should say something, so he asked, as pleasantly as possible. "What song are you humming? I don't think I've ever heard it before." There, he could make it into a conversation. Easy. And Yin would have to stop humming to answer him. Win/win.
He stopped at the edge of the lake, and tried not to look too much like he'd rather not be there and instead tried to focus on the fact that he was getting to spend time with Yin. A very happy Yin who was being very nice and doing surprising things that Alex enjoyed.
Yep, that brought a smile back to his face quickly enough

Yin had no knowledge that the music might be bothersome. Jack had said that it was all but required, and while it certainly was not his thing (and he may have skipped over a few bits that he had forgotten) he was doing what he needed to.
And Alexander was oddly quiet, so maybe he was just listening to it. Which was a good sign Yin figured. But when Alexander asked what song it was..."I do not know exactly," he said, not looking quite so cheerful as before. "Priestesses or those in training would sometimes sing it while they worked. We had little reason to sing." No, not quite so happy as when he was not focusing on it too hard.
By now they were at the water's edge, and Yin quickly stripped off his shirt and set it to the side so that it would not get wet. The area they were at seemed mainly deserted, and he hesitantly moved toward the water where it lapped on the shore.
Still cold.
Trying not to pull a face at it he turned to look at Alexander. "Do you prefer to wade in or find somewhere deep enough to jump?"

Alex couldn't figure out why, if the song was that depressing, Yin would have chosen it to hum. He might have stared at Yin a little harder then usual, certain things that had seemed a little off starting to add up in his mind. He did not want to think about this, though. He just wanted to do things with Yin and be happy and not have to worry that every little thing had a hidden meaning or an ulterior motive. But since Yin looked so stressed out, and since it was his question that seemed to have caused it, he quickly added in. "Oh? It uh...sounded nice."
Smooth.
Alex shuffled up next to Yin, after pulling his own shirt off and throwing it just..wherever. Somewhere behind him, he wasn't really looking, before sliding his foot into the water.
It was a bit warm, but it would do.
"If I jump in, I might not come back up again." He pointed out, having found out that he wasn't much of a swimmer and generally just sunk to the bottom.
"I'll just wade in. Is it warm enough for you?" Really, he couldn't see how it wouldn't be. It was being on the verge of too warm for Alex.

Glad that Alexander was not going to push him for the answer about why he was singing songs from the Clan, though he did not exactly believe Alexander complimenting his singing. He was average on a good day, if that.
He would not be able to come back up? "You should not jump in then," Yin said, sounding highly concerned and slightly stressed at the idea. Wading in would work just fine. "I should adjust to it," he decided, though it would probably be easier to adjust if he just jumped in and went from there. Instead he slowly moved into the water alongside Alexander, trying not to shiver too much, letting certain bits of him shift away to be more humanoid so that he could cope with the cold better. Then he gave up and moved forward until it was deep enough that he could completely submerge in the water, coming up sputtering and cold but having gotten the worst over with.
Still, it had been a while since he had been swimming, and this was at least a fun activity. And active. Very active. "What do you think?" he called to Alexander, though the water was starting to feel a bit better.

Alex had to chuckle to himself when Yin told him that he should not jump in. He hadn't planned on it, anyways, and he very slowly, even slower then normal for him, waded into the water, the bottom of his pants getting soaked, the warmth of the water soon enough lapping up against his knees by the time Yin had just...thrown himself in. Maybe that's what the zomboil should have done as well, since then he could just...get it over with.
"If it's too cold for you, just say so and we can leave." He tried not to sound hopeful, as he continued to sluggishly move forward, determined to at least make it to Yin. The water was probably up around his waist when Yin called over to him.
"I think..." What did he think? Alex continued to move along, pondering the question. He didn't want to tell the truth, that this was really not his thing, because he didn't want to put a dampener on it for Yin, who seemed to enjoy it. "I think I'll get used to it," He shrugged, before an idea crept into his mind, and mischievous look came into his eyes as he gave Yin a smile.
Before letting himself collapse in the water and out of sight. It was really nothing for Alex to sit on the lake floor. He wasn't at any risk of floating back up to the surface, and he didn't need to breathe. He could really, for all intents and purposes, stay underwater forever, though there was nothing worse then the smell of a waterlogged corpse. He had a look around him, hair floating around above his head, though there really wasn't much to see. The water was murky and dark and it was hard to make anything out.
Eventually, slowly, he moved to his hands and knees and crawled along, heading in the direction that he had last seen Yin before completely submerging himself. Several minutes had probably passed by now, and he didn't want the other boil to worry too much about him.

Alexander must have done too good a job at not sounding too hopeful, because Yin did not catch on to that at all. Get used to it? Yin chose to believe that that was referring to the temperature. The lake was different than anything he was accustomed to swimming in. It was so large for one thing, and the water was really rather murky. But it felt good, and really, he was getting used to it.
If only he got used to things that Alexander wanted to do so easily.
He watched as Alexander moved underwater, smiling a bit at the absurdity. He moved a bit deeper, enjoying the gentle laps the water made on his skin. Alexander...did not reappear. He did not think of it immediately, but as the zomboil stayed out of sight...well it was beginning to become a concern. In times such as these facts such as "oh yeah, my boilfriend does not need to breathe" flew out the window, and so Alexander not making an appearance was becoming a significant reason to worry. "Alexander?" He called out, trying not to panic. Maybe he had just went behind a rock or left the area. But for Alexander to move so quickly...reason was forcing that idea out. Everything was okay though. It had to be. "Alexander?"

Hm. He really should have actually run into Yin by now. He stopped and sat down again, looking up but having difficulty knowing how deep in the water he actually was now. Would he be able to just stand up and resurface? This had been a bad idea. Well, there was really only way to find---
Hold on, could he hear something? It was faint, distorted, but he was sure he could hear..shouting? Not that the words were even recognizable, and he couldn't even tell the direction.
Frowning, he again came to the conclusion that he was just going to have to stand up and hope that he hadn't gone too far out into the water, but then the slightest bit of movement caught his eye, and he swiveled his head towards it and crawled closer towards what he thought he saw. Oh, yes, legs! Weremantis legs! Perfect!
Grinning to himself, there were two things that Alex could have done at this point, and he finally decided that the first one would have just been too mean. So instead, he pushed himself into a crouch, and stood up, so that his head broke the surface right in front of Yin, his hair plastered down on his face and covering his eyes as he reached out with both arms and drew the weremantis in for a hug.
"Hey, I think we might actually be the same temperature right now." He commented, grinning from ear to ear.
