[.M E E T I N G.] .yei umeko, orchu, nagual, hania.
.orchu.
Orchu dully opened his eyes; yawning widely. Where am I? He wondered; though not throughly concerned. The wind cascaded over the clearing and made the slender willow branches above him dance wildly. He tilted an ear back and frowned a tad. The ebony stallion remember last night had been unusually warm and he had decided to sleep under the willow instead of venturing to his teepee since he had been out so late. What did I do last night? Orchu thought in a dazed state. Shrugging his shoulders he yawned again and unsteadily rose to his legs. He shook his mane out and ruffled the feathers of his wings lightly. His eyes scanned the clearing in front of him for any signs of life. Orchu's ear perked up when he noticed a small gray and black speckled form lying in the tall stands of lush grass. He curiously began walking towards it. As he approached he noticed the creature was that of a soquili foal. Leaning down he nudged her shoulder with his nose.
.yei umeko.
It had taken a considerable amount of persuasion from the back of her mind to goad the front into even approaching the clearing. She had never been one to be anti-social but having resided on the outskirts of the clearing for so long she wasn't particularly used to encountering others of her kind, in fact, she had no doubt that she would have found it rather difficult to converse with any of her own kind.
Nevertheless, she gave a brief whicker as she flicked her gaze briefly across the clearing before sighting something in the corner of her eye. It only proved to give her a slight start and she abruptly turned her head round to point it in the direction of the ebony stallion, or more to the point, his wings - she couldn't help but feel terribly plain in comparison.
...Still, she was lucky in the sense that he seemed otherwise distracted by a speckled foal not that far away from her and thus she gave a brief shudder to remove the flies from her coat and gave a slight shake of her head to readjust the 'position' of the locks of hair within her mane.
.nagual.
Nagual was resting soundly when she felt the insistent nudge to her shoulder. She bolted to her feet, accidentally banging the stallion in the neck with her head. Immediately, she fell back down, stunned.
Using the time to figure out what just happened, the filly looked around, "Who? What? Where? Why?"
Her gaze settled on the winged stallion. "Erm, hello..." she blushed slightly. Finally getting to her feet, Nagual also spotted the red mare in the distance. She turned to the dark stallion once more, "Did you bring someone else with you?" Nagual nodded her head in the other direction.
.orchu.
Orchu snorted indignatly as the young filly startled and bashed her head against his neck. "Hi. Hm? What's this about someone else?" He inquired raising an eyebrow sardonically at the speckled filly. Tilting his head increduously he followed her gaze upon a red mare. Orchu flickered his ears forward and whinned lightly to the unfamiliar mare. He pawed at the ground with his hoof a bit and swished his tail. "Hello." He chimed lightly to the mare. Looking between the two females he stated, "My name is Orchu." Uncomfortably he rustled his wings.
.yei umeko.
Startled, yet again the red mare gave a shake of her head, the suns rays causing the orange and yellow tressles riddled within the depths of her red mane to ripple in response to the abrupt movement before they once again settled into a relatively still, yet hardly dull form. It was only after this shake of her head that she arched her neck briefly and surveyed both with what appeared to be a critical eye.
"Yei Umeko." She replied at last in a surprisingly calm voice, full and rich despite evident discomfort in the way she held herself. Still uncertain as to how they might act towards her she had taken it upon herself to be as reserved as possible and by the way in which the stallion appeared to be acting...
"I apologise if I have interrupted you." She offered at last, her gaze flicking between the two before resting on the stallion's wings again - he had wings!
.nagual.
Nagual smiled encouragingly at the mare. She was conpletely intrance with the utterly striking appearance of her. "Hello Orchu and Yei Umeko! I am Nagual-An, and I am glad to meet both of you"
Bowing her head, the filly looked to Orchu, "I am truly sorry for running into you...I am usually not so incredibly clumsy." Even though she was serious, the little giggle that erupted from the back of her throat would have said otherwise to the statement.
Again, Nagual turned to Yei Umeko, her eyes soaking up the rich colors. "I must say, Yei Umeko... Your color is amazing! I don't think I've seen anything so pretty!"
.hania.
Hania yawned as he shook himself to wake up. He wondered what he was going to do today, so galloped away from his forest home and into the usual area where most Soquili met, new and old. "I'm hungry," he mumbled, and looked around for some food before spotting three different Soquili. One red mare, a black stallion that looked strangely familiar and he couldn't put down why, and a little spotted filly. "Why is it that every time I come out here I see different Soquili in groups?" he said aloud, and chuckled as he trotted closer to them but stayed away a bit to watch.
.orchu.
Orchu nodded at the red mare. "You have interrupted nothing." He said flatly; scruitinizing her. "My pleasure to meet you Yei Umeko and Nagual-An." He bowed his head momentarily. Orchu's eyes wandered back down to the foal as she spoke to him. "It is fine." His words were betrayed with a hint of reproachfulness in his gleaming steel eyes. The stallion caught a glimpse of a familiar golden stallion trotting towards the group. Orchu blinked and neighed lightly to him. "Hania my brother!" Orchu nodded his head upward and swished his tail.
.yei umeko.
So many, they all appeared at once and she fought to remain in control of her composure as she tried to adapt to the sudden accompanyment of so many of her own kind. It was with a delicate whicker and another bob of her head that she politely side-stepped the one who was apparently named 'Hania' and turned her gaze towards Nagual who, despite being so young carried herself surprisingly well.
"I fear that due to my colour I lack the ability to blush sufficiently but I assure you that I accept your compliments with gratitude." She offered her first equine smile of the day towards the young one and released another of herdelicate whickers as she glanced towards the two stallions, both of which gave off the illusion of being terribly gruff.
"Are all stallions like this or is it just when they get older?" She asked curiously towards the mare who she assumed would jest in the same manner as she, even if the stallions did not appreciate the observations from a lowly mare and a filly.
.nagual.
Nagual watched the interaction of Orchu and the one deemed 'Hania' with about as much interest as Umeko. Smiling brightly, her eyes gleamed, "So proper, ma'am." The filly nodded again.
Turning the conversation to the apparantly brother soquili (?), Nagual chuckled, "Quite frankly, I cannot answer. I have only met one other stallion before -besides my father-, and a few colts. I haven't had the time to compare the differences in ages... or even male interactions. I have a feeling that this is indeed a common practice among the males." Shaking her head jokingly, the filly feigned disappointment in the masculine gender of the soquili race.
.hania.
Hania quirked an ear when he heard his name come from the stallion. He blinked. And blinked again. "Orchu?" he said in wonder as he moved toward the black stallion. "Orchu! It really is you! You grew up!" Hania's eyes were wide in shock. He still couldn't believe his little brother was all grown up. "Orchu, who are these ladies," Hania asked, turning to smile at the red colored mare and the cute spotted filly.
Hania quirked his ears in the weird way to show that he was "raising his eyebrow" like a human would. He had been listening in on the conversation between the females and glanced at Orchu for an explanation. "I didn't know the female species hated our guts," he said out loud, and bluntly was well. Turning, he grinned. "If my brother has mistreated you, forgive him, please. I'm Hania." He bowed, his traditional way of greeting females, especially pretty mares.
.orchu.
Orchu smirked. "Yes I grew up and now I doubt the term little," He cleared his throat meaningly as he emphasized the word. "Brother is now fully appropriate." He chuckled softly and nipped at Hania's forelock. Orchu raised an eyebrow at his brother. "It is not my place nor your's to assume all female soquili dispise us. However I have in no way mistreated Yei Umeko or Nagual to my knowledge." Turning to the ladies he bowed his head deeply. "If I have offened you ladies I am truly sorry and apologize for my bluntness." Orchu snorted lightly. It is not my fault Polar has kept me in solitude for the past month. The stallion thought begrudgingly.
.yei umeko.
Her eyebrow shot up at the bows and after a few moments she released a giggle and lifted up her foreleg so that she might allow the other to slide down slightly into a bow of her own. Needless to say, as she lowered her head in accompanyment of this motion she couldn't help but snicker - it was only when she straightened up that she seemed to have recovered her composure and chose to gaze at Nagual more so than the males to continue with her little charade.
"Alas, it is true that the general populace of males all appear to be terribly grumpy - what are poor females like us supposed to do?" She sighed dramatically and tossed her mane as she looked skywards before at last allowing her gaze to flicker towards Orchu and then Hania.
"My dear sirs, I am terribly offended by your actions but just this once I will forgive you." She cooed and gave another toss of her mane, her eyes twinkling with mirth as she seemed to grow accustomed to the company of her own kind, "But I do warn you it will not be so easy next time." She continued before lowering her hoof back to the ground again with a small smile.
"And it is nice to meet you, Sir Hania - I am Yei Umeko."
.nagual.
Nagual couldn't contain herself. It was a pity she didn't have a long mane to hide her smile behind. Immediately, the filly was engrossed in the mare...she had a lot to learn about the woo-ing of stallions! She watched everything as a little child might watch a Raindance for the first time.
Finally, it was time for her to say something. Nagual managed to cough and compose her face -failing as well- in a serious expression. "I guess I will forgive you too! I am Nagual-An... and it is a pleasure to meet you Hania, brother of Orchu!"
.yei umeko.
Yei muttered something about rabbits and wandered off in a stupor.
N.B. - Epee went to work
.hania.
Hania smiled. He'd never met flirty mares before, so Yei Umeko was interesting. "It's a pleasure to meet you, beautiful Yei Umeko, and young Nagual-An, it's a delight to greet a pretty filly." He laughed at the way he was named. "Ah, brothers we are but in spirit. Orchu just happens to be more elegant than I am in that he has beautiful wings." Hania always envied the flyers of the Soquili family.
"Alas, poor me, I have met with such a sturdy mare who has seen through me," Hania said, winking at Orchu. "And such a young filly to carry herself in such a proudful manner, I am ashamed to have tried to catch you!" Laughing heartily, Hania flipped his mane to the other side of his neck since his feathers were tickling him. Prancing a bit, he grinned at the mares before looking at his brother in concern. "I haven't seen you for so long, I nearly didn't recognize you at first. I admit you looked familiar though, Brother."
.orchu.
Orchu snorted an eyed the mare. "I wouldn't say grumpy; a more proper term would be stern or something along those lines." He tossed his mane irritably. "However I except your forgiveness with appreciation and will do my best to remain.... pleasant if that is what you wish of me." Orchu pawed at the ground and sighed heavily. As the filly spoke Orchu smirked casually and tilted his head. He could tell she was merely mimicing the mare and didn't have truly defined feelings upon the matter; or so it seemed. The stallion nudged the speckled foal gently and nickered softly. Orchu caught his brother's wink and smirked to himself. Hania was certainily a ladies' man if one ever was. "It is true brother for we have not seen one another in ages. I however recognized you immediately by your gleaming coat." Hania's pride came strictly from his ego and Orchu felt it might be necessary to give it a slight boost.
.nagual.
Nagual rolled her eyes at Hania, "I think pretty hardly describes my decor!" She grinned, "Maybe something more like scrumptious or fillet-men-yon!"
When Ukemo mumbled her words and ran off, the filly seemed to pout for a moment. The gesture was lost, however, when Orchu nudged her. It was a comical scene to see the filly maneuver her gangly legs to remain upright. She turned to the winged stallion and gave him a sterm look, although her eyes laughed, "Is that any way to treat a lady?"
----------
Nagual nipped at one of Orchu's feathers playfully. She took one of the non-required ones for flight. Because her father was a wind soquili and she had stolen a feather or two from him, the filly was an expert in not causing any harm.
Jumping back she bowed to the two stallions and ran off, "I hear adventure calling me! It was a pleasure to meet you both... and thanks for the feather, Orchu!" She winked and then was off, her crazy legs whipping beneath her.
.hania.
Hania grinned to himself with the way Nagual-An told his brother off. "Ah, the spiciness of female sternness," he laughed, and then smiled at his brother. "My gleaming coat? Hardly!" he snorted. "Mahiri--my fox-colored mate--is so playful, I hardly stay clean any longer! She's a beautiful, playful mare, though, and I do believe you might expect a neice or nephew..." Hania hinted, laughing.
-edit-
Hania watched as the filly ran off. "Farewell, young Nagual-An, I hope we meet again," the golden stallion called out.

[.M E E T I N G.] .tai, yei umeko, flame, gully.
.yei umeko.
Considerable measures had been taken to ensure that she was looking her best. She could only put this down to the fact that she was becoming steadily more sociable and wanted to make an impression upon the pleasant beings (and not so pleasant beings) that often congregated upon the plains - granted, the clearings were not her idea of a perfect meeting place but it seemed that everyone else enjoyed it.
Therefore, she had slowly made her way down from the mountainside and towards the Clearings which, as per usual she paused at the edge of and released a gentle snort as she surveyed the long, lush grass that was in striking contrast to the coarse foliage that lurked in her home atop the mountainside...not that she was complaining, she absolutely loved her home but it was a mild observation.
.tai.
While the term '"cabin" fever' may not be completely appropriate, Tai was certainly itching for a change in scenery. Celei had been gone for days on some spiritual journey he did not understand, leaving him in charge of their teepee and all of her precious pottery. Add to that, the teepee they called home happened to be the most secluded teepee of them all, deep in the woods past all of the others, nestled in the foothills of the higher mountains. And Tai, a highly sociable Soquili, was beginning to chafe against the bindings of his promise.
Flame was of little help, the older stallion and his companion Gully had taken themselves off as soon as Celei vanished into the woodlands. Fustrated, Tai had stayed in place for 3 whole days, until he finally had enough. Looking around, half hoping to catch of glimpse of red hair, the young stallion whinnied a farewell to the forest creatures around the teepee and cantered off into the brush, heading straight for the common gounds closer to the Kawani Village, where others were known to congregate.
.yei umeko.
She was stood down wind and thus as the male released his farewell whinny to whatever it might have been the faintest of calls caught her ears and after a few moments she swivelled her head round to fix her gaze upon the direction in which she had heard the cry amit from - needless to say, she was mildly curious as to how the being was coming from her current residence...she did after all live far up in the mountainsides just below the darkening mists - well her companion human was terribly odd in that respect.
Nevertheless, she did release a delicate sigh and another snort as she very quickly tended to her tail and mane, tidying them up as best as she could while savouring the delicate heat produced by the sun's light during the hours just before luncheon - in this light she looked even more red than before, even the red flecks in her mane and tail gave the illusion of her being alight with flame!
.tai.
Picking up his pace as much as the dense wood would permit, Tai released another high whinny, this one full of laughter and good cheer as he leapt a fallen log with ease, flagging his feather adorned banner. The deep earth welcomed his pounding hooves when he landed, cushioning the impact so his pace never faltered as he came upon the clearing, racing into the open meadowlands with gleeful abandon.
.yei umeko.
Her brow quirked immediately as the soquili bounded across the clearing without any consideration for who might have been there. Nevertheless as she watched him whoop for joy at his apparently new found freedom she couldn't help but release a little giggle of appreciation for the liveliness of the unnamed stallion who had come into her line of vision.
Still, she deemed it rude to interrupt his apparent spurt of freedom and thus she remained silent and focused on observing him and his apparently lithe frame - considering his build which was so similar to her own she could only assume that he had been close to the mountains every now and again (more often than most at least)...that made a change.
Although she couldn't help but marvel at all the feathers he wore on his legs and mane.
.tai.
Stretching low, Tai raced around the seemingly empty clearing, not at all chagrined that the others he had hoped to meet were absent. He relished the thrill of the wind through his mane and the dancing feathers, so he spun back on his hindlegs, his body wretching around at an impossible angle as he struck out with his hooves, tossing his head as he once again came to earth. Standing still for but a moment, his deep chocolate eyes surveyed the area, nostrils flared as he thought he caught a scent, but with a toss of his head he was off again, kicking up his heels with another whinny.
Until he passed one of the far edges, and a glimpse of red sent him to a immediate halt, hundreds of possibilities crossed his mind, but the one that stood out in the forefront of his thoughts was...
Celei! She's back! Along with a wave of guilt that he had left the teepee untended, so in a rather coltish manner, he ducked into the deep grass.
.yei umeko.
He couldn't have been that mature a stallion, in fact the manner in which he acted reminded her very much of her old friends who were only just reaching maturity as she was. She herself was relatively young but due to his height and mannerisms he appeared to be a bit younger than her, either that or he seemed to 'act' like he was a two year old just discovering his manliness for the first time.
It was only as he dove into the grass as though he had spotted her that she released a rich peel of laughter and shook her red mane, the tendrils of gold and orange flickering in the sunlight as she very slowly waded through the long grass towards the now hiding stallion.
"Am I really that terrible to gaze upon?" She asked curiously as she looked around for his exact location within the grass...
.tai.
The laughter that accompanied his abrupt dive was anything but Celei's, and as he gazed between the waving grass stalks, Tai realized his error with a great deal of embarrassment. But now that his deep blush was turning his face a hue as deep as the mare's coat, he wasn't about to stand and apologize.
No no, apologizing while safely hidden was perfectly fine.
"No ma'am, not at all..." he said, the stammer in his voice giving his deep baritone a funny ring, as he peered between the grass cautiously, apparently unaware that his ears now pricked above the grass.
.yei umeko.
"You know, I can see you..." She cooed silkily as she crept forward and very calmly leant down to give the tip of his ear a delicate nibble to point out that they were perfectly visible to her despite his best attempts to hide - still, following this move she did back away once more to provide him with his personal space and gave another rich-filled laugh at the manner in which he was acting.
"Can you even see me?" She enquired curiously as she allowed her ears to perk and flick towards him in interest. If she were entirely honest he was one of only two stallions that she had ever seen adamant in attempting to avoid her and the only reason she'd seen the other one was because his hawk was yelling at him.
"Or are you just guessing that I don't look ugly, I could be a boar for all you know!"
.tai.
Tai stiffened at the nibble, but couldn't resist a giggle as the act tickled him. "Hey!" he said, without any real force behind it as she backed away, but at that point he didn't feel the need to hide, and wanted to prove that he could see her.
So first his head, then the rest of him, rose from his crouching position, and with a shake he cleared a few grains of loose dirt and dead leaves from his coat. Looking at her now, he had to admit she was anyting but a boar, and snorted. "I don't guess at anything, and you are pretty." he said adamantly, flicking his golden tail.
.yei umeko.
"Well now, that wasn't so hard was it?" She enquired softly as he rose to his feet and looked her up and down. Needless to say she was quite a bit taller than him and could only assume this was partially due to his youth...either that or he was naturally tiny in which case she would promptly coo and give him another nibble (degrading as that may be).
"And you don't look half as bad yourself, although I think you over did it with all those feathers." She mused as she stared at the feathers on his leg, tail and mane with a hint of amusement, she had always been perfectly content with her dream catcher!
"So, now that you have a face - who might you be?"
.tai.
The young stallion snorted again, though he couldn't help but grin at her, he just naturally found eveything funny, even himself. "I'm Otaikimmio'tokaan, though Cele and Flame just call me Tai. And I like my feathers thankyouverymuch, Celei gave them too me, she said they were a gift from the creature that is my 'namesake'." he said primely, shaking his head to stop the tickling sensation on his ears from the said feathers.
.yei umeko.
She couldn't help but feel terribly plain in comparison and gave a sigh as she listened to the young stallion defend all his feathers, personally she would have been happy with just one or two and after a few moments she simply gave a shake of her head in with an unreadable expression upon her equine features - she really hadn't got a reply to his explanation for his feathers other than that he was overdressed in her eyes.
"They call me Yei Umeko," She introduced herself at last and offered a vague smile of her own and a shake of her long mane to brush the forelock out of her eyes so that she might see him properly, "Very few shorten my name but for those that do, they call me Yei." She added with a mild snort.
.tai.
Tai's head bobbed politely as she spoke, the odd expressions that drifted across her face having little effect on him as the infectious grin was ever present across his features. "Well, it is a pleasure to meet you Miss Yei Umeko." he said, reaching forward to brush his nose aginst her's in greeting.
.yei umeko.
Oh goodness, her nose was terribly ticklish and as she felt the tiny whiskers upon his muzzle brush against her nostrils she took a deep breath and creased her face into the most unusual expression yet as she attempted to hold in a sneeze - it failed though and she lowered her head as her entire form shudder and then she released what appeared to be an outward splutter of air...well, horses always did have difficulty coughing and sneezing, this was the best she could do at short notice and her hooves couldn't reach high enough to touch her nose...well they could if she leant down but she wasn't really thinking logically at that point.
"Don't do that!" She chastised as she fought to regain her composure and eyed him critically before shaking her head and releasing another splutter, apparently she was being attacked by some sort of obscure sneezing fit, "Would you like me to nibble your ear -" Another weeze, "Continually?!"
.tai.
Golden brown ears flicked back momentarily, then another slight chuckle escaped Tai as he ducked out of the way of her sneeze. "Well I can't say I mind having my ear nibbled Miss Yei, but since you apparantly mind having your nose tickled.." and he paused to slide closer to her, chocolate eyes alight with mischief. "I'll just, nuzzle your neck then." But instead of her neck, he whisked his nose against hers again.
.yei umeko.
A deep breath prevented her from sneezing again and she gave a rather loud whinny of anger as he attempted to set her off once more. Her ears flattened against her head and in a brief rage she bounced forward and unceremoniously nipped at his neck as if to demonstrate that she did not appreciate the painful reprecussions of her nose being tickled - sneezing was uncomfortable.
"I'll have you know that I would appreciate the nuzzle to the neck but not my nose! Where are your manners?" She chastised haughtily as she drew herself up to her full height and seemed to puff out her equine cheeks.
.tai.
Tai seemed to deflate almost instantly, his ears dropped and his tail hung low to the ground, and if he could have, the young stallion would have whined when she nipped him.
Instead he stared at the ground guiltily. "I'm sorry Miss Yei." he mumbled, much as a young human child would after a scolding.
.yei umeko.
"Awwww!" She couldn't help herself as she gave a very girlish squeal in response to his actions, she'd only ever seen a foal do that and as she watched him deflate and almost shrink to the size of a colt she couldn't help but giggle and step forward to give the stallion a tentative nuzzle - with a demeanor like that she could hardly hold a grudge for long.
"It's alright - just don't do it again alright?" She shook her head and gave him a 'critical' glance before offering one of her normal equine smiles, "I'm open to other games...just not that one."
.tai.
Looking up at her tentatively, he finally matched her smile, and nuzzled her neck apologetically. "Ok, no nose tickling." he said, standing to his full height, though he noticed with a bit of chagrin that she was still taller then he was. "Miss Yei, if you don't mind my asking, where do you come from?" he asked with a touch more seriousness then he had shown earlier.
.yei umeko.
"Mmmm..." She murmured thoughtfully before turning her head in the direction of the mountain ranges a distance away from them. For a few moments she simply observed them and then at last she gave a nod and seemed to be rather certain of the words she wished to use, "Do you see where the mist just hits it's lowest point?" She began gently as she bobbed her head to just where the mists began.
"I live just there, close to that barren rocky cliff - my companion's teepee resides just under one of the ledges. He's never in that often but the teepee is well sheltered so I think that might be why he chose the location." She mused in an almost fond manner.
.tai.
Following her gaze, he found himself a bit surprised at the location, for so long he had thought little Celei was a hermit! "It seems very peaceful, and very high up!" he said cheerfully, the beginnings of an adventure beginnning to turn in his mind. But before that... "Your companion, did he raise you like Celei did me?" he asked, more for curiousity's sake.
.yei umeko.
Calmly, she shook her head and offered a wry smile as she lifted up her right foreleg and pointed towards the tiny hairline crack along her hoof - it wasn't severe but it was enough to denote that she had been injured at some point in her life and it had otherwise left her lame for a few months at least until it was cured.
"He found me, I stumbled down one of the rock faces and when he was gathering herbs he saw my crumpled heap." She gave a giggle at the 'derogatory' term she had used and shook her head again, "He coaxed me back to his Teepee and took care of me until I recovered - cliche as it might be I decided to stay with him...he's very nice."
.tai.
Tai nodded at her words, remembering the images of Flame when Celei and himself had found the stallion. Tai had been but a colt at the time, yet old enough to understand that his 'momma' Celei had to take care of the other soquili until the horrible wound atop the stallion's head could heal. While he could not relate personally, he did understand the mutual devotion on the sides of Flame and Tai's bonded, Flame appreciated Celei's help, and Celei was glad to give it, yet respectful of the mighty stallion who looked to her now.
"He must be if you say he is." the brown and gold stallion said, brushing aside the old memories in favor of newer ones. "Has he ever come down to the Kawani Festivals? Maybe Celei knows him."
.yei umeko.
She shook her head, as sociable as she might have been Achak was not and preferred to stay hidden in the mountains. In fact, he seemed to make it his duty to whole heartedly avoid any encounters with his fellow man as though he found it terribly uncomfortable - this fact had often confused the Soquili herself but she couldn't question it, it was his choice after all.
"Nay, he's a solitary creature - he seems to like the company of creatures in the mountains but doesn't like other humans...I'm not really sure why." She confessed with a furrowed brow which she quickly removed from her face, she had always thought frowning was not a delightful thing to look at.
.tai.
"Ahh, I see." he said, looking around curiously for a moment, then back at Yei. "Say, do you think he'd mind if I visited him? I've been stuck around my teepee for the past three days, so.." he paused, unsure if this was the proper way to ask for an adventure.
"Well, do you think he'd mind?" he added redundantly, his tone almost pleading for something to happen other then the usual grind. Tai wanted to explore, to chase things, to be chased, and to flat out have fun with this red mare he was already labeling 'friend.'
.yei umeko.
"Well -" She paused thoughtfully and took note of the pent up desire to explore in the stallion. She wouldn't take pity on him but she could understand his desperate need to do something other than stand around the same area repeatedly, even she needed to explore and Achak very rarely stayed too long in his Teepee himself.
"I don't see why not." She mused at last and gave another one of her friendly smiles, "Of course that does mean you have to walk to the very edge of the mist - they say it's haunted by spirits up there." She cooed silkily before giving an unusual grin.
"I think that Achak reckons my coat colour is because the spirits in the mist wanted to paint me like fire to warm them up!" She announced proudly.
.tai.
Tai's expression changed from one of longing to an intense need to meet the challenge presented so playfully, so he grinned at her fearlessly. "Oh I don't mind the spirits, and I doubt they mind me! And if they took the time to paint your coat so beautifully then I doubt they would mean us harm." he said, his chest puffing out slightly with youthful optimism and arrogance.
.yei umeko.
She wasn't surprised at his overly optimistic nature and thus she took it upon herself to 'rein him in' or so to speak as she shook her head and gazed at him pointily as if preparing to give him a lecture - she wans't one for lectures though and instead, she simply gazed at him a little more before saying just one simple line.
"Don't you think they might wonder where you are?" She asked curiously, referring to his own home and his apparent absence from it. She often gave at least a little whicker of greeting to Achak at random intervals throughout the day to let him know she was around, it was only right that Tai should let his own companions know as well.
.tai.
A board applied to the back of his head would not have garnered the same expression, nor was an analogy to a landed fish appropriate enough to describe the look of utter shock and realization that crossed Tai's features as the full weight of her words sunk in. Dammit dammit dammit! She told me to stay at the teepee, what if she's back, or even worse, out looking for me!...
He didn't need a reflection in the water to know that all of these thoughts were passing in waves across his face, the faint heat rising on his cheeks was enough, along with the automatic ear flick towards the far away teepee. "well uh... you see I kind of left without telling anyone to begin with and uh..." he paused, looking her full in the eyes, his voice taking on a childish whine again. "What if they are looking for meee!"
.yei umeko.
"Well, then it would be much more wise to go back and stay there until they return to the Teepee to regroup." She offered a logical explanation despite holding back a peel of laughter at his whiney pleading, he definately reminded her of a colt and she couldn't help but feel terribly maternal towards him in the sense that she wanted to adopt him as her little brother and take him home - Achak might not appreciate that though...
"And once they return then you can tell them where you're going and then apologise for forgetting to tell them until now." She added, well aware that an apology was always desired for whatever reason.
.tai.
"That sounds reasonable." he replied glumly, glancing back in the teepee's direction again, ears straining for any far away sounds. Hearing none, he sighed heavily and looked back at Yei. "Does this mean no adventure for now?" he asked, his mind clearly wrapped around the extreme negative of the situation.
.yei umeko.
"No, it means that the adventure is postponed for at least an hour or so until we fix this little accident." Yei replied wistfully as she gave him a gentle nudge and canted her head to the side, "Now, which way is your Teepee - I'll come with you so that you aren't alone and you can say I kept you distracted all this time!" She flashed a smile and then snickered briefly as though she found something rather amusing.
"You could even claim you thought i was an intruder and you chased me away from the Teepee if you really want to!"
.tai.
Tai had to laugh at her last idea, he could just imagine the look on Flame's face as he tried to tell the bigger stallion that he was chasing off an intruder. "Well, they won't believe I was chasing you, and knowing Flame, if he has returned and found me missing, he's already assumed I'm out disobeying orders and having a good time." he said wryly, shifting his weight. "But I'm glad your coming with me Miss Yei, and the teepee is this way." he finished with a bright smile before indicating the way with a toss of his head.
.yei umeko.
"Well, I could always act whiney and submissive." she pointed out and drooped her head and ears to prove her point as though she were submitting to the victor. Nevertheless, after a few moments she gave a whicker of amusement and broke into a trot as she headed in the direction that he had pointed towards - she was in no rush otherwise but she would most certainly need him to take the lead eventually...she wasn't all knowing in that respect.

[.M E E T I N G .] .amayeta, yei umeko.
.yei umeko.
Tip, tap, tip, tap...
Her ears flicked towards the sound and her azure gaze tentatively trailed towards the trickling water that descended the low small ridge in pursuit of it's 'brothers' so that each individual drop could join as one in the vibrant lakes a short distance away from the Clearing. She smiled at this and after a few moments of contemplation she wandered away from the edges of the clearing and proceeded across it until she was able to observe as much of the expanse as was mortally possible.
Alas, her lack of observation made her incapable of spotting many of the soquili that were lurking within the clearing (which was quite a few) but she did release a whiney and keep her eyes peeled - eventually she would see someone.
.amayeta.
The sun shining high in the sky already, Amayeta was silently wandering through the trees of the forest near the clearing. After trotting for what now seemed to be many hours, the young adult had gotten thirsty and was looking for the river. Even though she did grew up around here, she still wasn't fully able to remember where everything was. Finally she reached the clearing and was slightly blinded by the sun. She looked down at her hooves for a moment until she got used to the light. Then she looked up and right before her eyes was the river. She whinned in happiness and ran toward the water. She slowed down her pace as she got closer and bend her head down. Her nose touched the water and a soft feeling of freshness slide through her throat as she drank slowly.
.yei umeko.
The dark flash of movement caught her eye and with a whicker the red stallion trotted towards the lake that was not particularly far away from her. Admittedly, she was terribly thristy as it was and the sound of the water trickling down the little ridge had reminded her of how truly parched she was - it was therefore no surprise that her pace quickened as she drew near the water and gave a shudder.
It was with a delighted equine smile that she finally extended her trot and then came to a halt by the edge to lower it and sip at the ice cool waters, yet at the same time she did flick her gaze up towards the other mare who was suitably more mature than the others she had met!
.amayeta.
Hearing the loud beating sound of hooves hitting the ground, Amayeta stopped drinking and looked up, raising her head. Her green eyes brushed along the surroundings and stopped on a bright red female soquili. She observed her for a moment before whinning with excitement. "Good day!" she said softly. Ama wanted to go meet her, but she feared walking through the water. She looked around for another way to go through.
.yei umeko.
Yei smiled as she lifted her head and offered a nod, she was delighted to see that she wasn't in need of striking out a conversation as the other mare had done it for her and thus, with a whicker she bounded forward towards the lake and very calmly waded through it and towards the mare - her brow creasing as she attempted to navigate her way through the water that reached up to her shoulders.
"Warm greetings to you!" She called in reply and at last staggered to the shore once she had managed to find a suitable ledge to gain her footing for the shoreline once more.
"How are you?"
.amayeta.
Amayeta's face lighted up as she saw the mare cross the lake to come on her side of the shore. A few black hair falling in front of her eyes, she observed the soquili come toward her. Her coat was of a beautiful redish-orange color that shined under the rays of the sun. Ama stepped back to leave some space to the soquili, flicking her black tail behind her. She smiled. "I am doing fine. How about yourself?" she asked with a peaceful voice.
Her eyes looked up to the sky. "It's such a beautiful day..." she added.

[.M E E T I N G .] .orchu, cyrus, yei umeko.
.orchu.
Orchu nudged the little black bear gently as he encouraged it to start walking. Rami protested with a light growl as he pawed at Orchu's nose. Polar had brought the small cub home only last night; she had found it around midnight close by to her and Orchu's teepee. Upon seeing the little bundle Orchu decided he would take care of it. He had named the bear Rami; and it suited him quite well. Orchu had guided the tiny bear towards a tributary heading down towards the forest from high up in the mountains. Rami had instantly spashed into the water hunting for fish; his bear insticts taking effect. The stallion and his familiar had been at the stream for a while and Orchu felt they should journey down into the forest. Rami, however, had other intentions and ignored Orchu when he informed Rami they were going to leave. The bear sat in the cold water; his coat sopping wet and Orchu nagging lightly add him to come onto the rocky bank. Rami continued growling lightly; pawing about in the stream. Feeling annoyed; Orchu took a few steps into the freezing water. "It's so cold! Rami how can you sit in here! Surely you are going to get sick." With that the stallion gently picked up the bear by the black fur on the back of his neck. Rami squimed wildly in the air; not wanting to cease his actions of hinting. Walking out of the stream and towards the forest Orchu mumbled. "Whaevrshlidowiffyo." It certainly hard to talk while holding a bear in your mouth. With that Orchu began lightly trotting; Rami in tow, into the dense trees of the forest.
.cyrus.
Cyrus grazed on a patch of grass that had came early before it season. One of the feathers in his tail's shafts were blowing together and a part in the breeze. It was a sunny day and nice out, odd weather for February. Cyrus arched his neck and started grazing again, he had been wondering the whole night last night and had barely gotten any sleep, despite the lack of sleep he was hardly tired.
Cyrus lifted his hoof and started pawing at the ground looking for any more grass which there wasn't. It was still dead. His emerald orbs watched the trees, in silence he tried to figure out something to do. He started walking, figuring he might find something to do, get ideas from things around him. His ears swiveled to the slightest sound hoping something interesting would pop up.
.yei umeko.
Well, she had been in the forest for quite some time due to her recent visit to her Teepee where she had been received with an odd glance from her companion who had been otherwise occupied with more 'scientific breakthroughs' or whatever he referred to him as - all she knew was that he was chattering idly to nothing in particularly and was content to continue with this.
Releasing a sigh however she drew her equine lips into a delighted smile and began to hum at the top of her lungs as though she deemed it suitably impossible to run into anyone in the forest for, as far as she was aware they all gathered on the clearing...
"Feeling hot, hot, hot!" She sang joyously and bopped her head from side to side until her mane seemed to give the illusion of flames, each lock of orange, gold and red catching the light that managed to penetrate the canopy.
.orchu.
Orchu's mouth was getting tired from carrying Rami who still hadn't ceased his squirming protests. The stallion rolled his eyes defiantly as the bear let out a particularly loud growl; causing a few birds in near by trees to take flight in surprise. Slowing his pace to a walk; he began to hear a faint voice. Is someone singing? He puzzled. The stallion perked his ears up and noticed Rami had tensed and grown quiet, straining to hear the noise. Orchu came to a halt and looked around curiously through the trees. A flash of red caught his attention and Orchu shied slightly; Rami letting out a surprised growl. The red object in question appeared from behind more trees and Orchu recognized it as a soquili. Oh it's just Yei. She must have been flipping her hair and that's what caught my attention. Hot, hot, hot. Great song.... Orchu swished his tail and began walking towards her. "Yei!" He tried calling to her; but a muffled grunt escaped his lips due to Rami's thick coat. This is ridiculous. He though; imagining how stupid he must look. Halting; Orchu arched his neck and placed Rami at his feet. "Yei!" He neighed to the fiery red mare.
.yei umeko.
Orchu's 'Yei' soon became 'Vei' ...or according to her ears 'Wei'. She furrowed her brow at the first all and shook her head as she tried to register the phrase before at last it was repeated in a much more understandable tone, it was even pronounced right this time and she gave a whicker of appreciation as she stopped bobbing her head and turned her gaze towards the voice.
Orchu....? She mused thoughtfully to herself before at last drawing near the stallion who, from her current position was masked by the shadows. It was only as she drew nearer that she recognised the white flecks on his wings and gave a small chuckle of appreciation - needless to say that regardless of how 'grumpy' she had viewed him as before, it was nice to see a familiar face.
"Well, well, well." She chimed before catching sight of the fluffy ball at his feet, her eyes promptly widened at this and she gave a squeal of what appeared to be delight.
"Oh, it's so cute!" She cried.
.orchu.
Orchu's featured flickered into a smirk as Yei approached him. "Yei." He bowed his head to the mare for a few moments. "How are you?" The stallion jerked slightly when startled by Yei's cry of joy. Looking down upon his familiar Orchu smiled. He arched his neck down to whisper in the bear's ear; making sure Yei couldn't hear. Orchu winked to the tiny creature. "You got that?" He asked lightly. The bear growled lightly and gave a slight nod of it's head. The stallion nudged the bear lightly on his back. The bear got to his feet and walked slowly to the red mare. Falling back the bear looked up at Yei. "Eeeehh Yeeeee." He said with a small growl. "Meeee Raahhhh." The bear waited; flicking his ears about. Orchu chuckled lightly watching his familiar fondly. Not bad for one of his first tries at talking. Looking up at Yei; Orchu grinned. "This 'lil fellow's name is Rami. It's pronounced Rah-me." The stallion nodded slightly; more to himself than the mare.
.yei umeko.
She didn't care whether or not she understood what the bear was saying, all that mattered was that it was terribly adorable and she gave another giggle as she lowered her head to nuzzle briefly at the top of the now identified "Rami's" head, needless to say she was not overwhelmed with maternal feelings but she still wanted one - who wouldn't for all their sanity was worth?
"Oh, he's adorable." She breathed softly as she lifted her head once more and offered an appreciative smile towards the stallion, who she was forced to take a double take of given the fact that he was grinning as opposed to the last time they had met, the quiet and serious demeanor he portrayed in their first meeting was almost completely void!
"So," She paused as she flicked the forelock out of her eyes with a shake of her head and quirked a brow, "How have you been?"
.orchu.
Orchu admiringly watched the exchange between Yei Umeko and Rami. Yei had apparently dropped her somewhat hostile approach before toward Orchu; as she has prior called him grumpy. Well Orchu had been per say miserable the first time they had met; his once content disposition returned. "I think so too." He responded with a slight tilt of his head. "I've wanted a familiar for a while now; I am rather pleased to have recieved one as you can probably imagine." Orchu stopped his back hoof against the solid ground.
Rami looked up from Orchu to Yei then back to Orchu. The confused bear had no idea what was going on and had a rather dazed expression on his features. Growling lightly the bear grabbed his feet with his paws and toppled onto his back. Continuing to roll about Rami attempted to swat at the decorative feathers attached to his ear.
Orchu looked down to his familiar and chuckled at Rami's unorthodox antics. "I have been good Yei. How have you been keeping?" The stallion asked pleasantly; eyes traveling back upon the mare.
.yei umeko.
"I feel like I have been strung up with all the travelling I have done in recent days but otherwise I am ablaze with happiness." She confessed in a rather articulate manner before quirking a brow at the antics of Rami who she deemed to be incredibly adorable, he made her want one of her own more and more but she wasn't sure how Achak would respond to such a desire...even if he couldn't understand her verbally he seemed to know what her eyes expressed.
"I certainly haven't been lonely." She mused as she reflected upon all her meetings with innumerable Soquili although her meeting with Orchu was perhaps the most prominent of all for he had been one of the first she had ever clapped eyes upon since her descent from the mountains where her kind were scarce.
"How did you acquire him?" She enquired finally as she tredded along the safest line of conversation she could until she assessed the situation fully and made an estimated guess in relation to how far she could push him with her jests...
.orchu.
Orchu nodded. "Travelling eh. Sounds exciting. For where have your recent adventures taken you to have left you quite so content?" The stallion was passionate about adventure and especially danger. Chuckled to himself he wondered, What kind of male is one who doesn't like danger and would rather spend his days living in a safe manor? Hell that would be little fun. Living life on the edge ir far more thrilling. Orchy frowned upon the mare's lonesome words. "For you are lonely? Well we can't have that now can we! I am generally around my friends, Polar and now my familiar Rami. They keep my spirits rather high; making it difficult to find my self in a state of loneliness." Orchu wondered if her sourch of loneliness came from of craving of something she could not acquire; a familiar perhaps. "Ah Polar found Rami. It was late last night, past middnight I am assuming. As you probably know it was pouring yesterday evenining. Dreadful weather. Polar was having trouble sleeping and she heard some low growls coming from outside our tent. Her curious nature lead her outside to find this little bundle in a cluster of bushes attempt to seek shelter from the rain." Orchu looked sadly at Rami; thinking how horrible it must have been to be alone in such conditions.
.yei umeko.
"I was aware of the weather." Yei replied rather ruefully as she motioned towards her flank and the weather beaten surface of her red coat that she hadn't had time to tend to as she focused primarily on descending the mushy mountainside slopes - due to the lack of long grass there, there was very rarely any grip and without wings she had indeed had quite a hassle of it.
"It's just unfortunate that someone so small had to be alone." She pointed out before raising her eyes heavenwards to observe the canopy of trees and the delicate rays of light that sometimes penetrated through it to speckle the ground beneath her feet.
"And as for where I've been - " She hesitated for an instance before offering a delicate smile, "Aside from meeting so many new faces I simply visited the very peaks of the mountainside I live upon. I was curious..." She trailed away again and eyed the small familiar fondly once more, "I remember coming out of that mist but always wondered where it led, so I went up." She cooed and released a shy laugh as though climbing up a rocky mountainside was not a momentus feat for one withotu wings.
.orchu.
Orchu scanned her coat closely; there appeared to be dried mud splashed upon her once perfectly groomed coat Orchu remembered from the first time they had met. "Ah. No offense Yei but your looking rather worse for wear. Perhaps we could venture to the river and take a bath. It will be fun taking a quick swim and I'm sure Rami would like the opportunity to search for more fish in the river. I regret there were no fish in the tributary we visited early; although Rami didn't seem to catch onto that fact. Little fellow was splashing about hopelessly determined to catch some kind of meal." He watched the bear with a hint of pity in his dark eyes." Orchu looked back at Yei inquisitively. "You ventured into the mountains? The rocky terrain certainly is difficult to navigate over. Loose rocks every where; most terrible." He closed his his eyes and shook his head wearily.
.yei umeko.
"How observant of you." She couldn't help but allow the sarcasm to trail from her equine lips and then with a delicate chuckle she offered a light nuzzle to his shoulder as if to indicate that it was to be taken in jest as opposed to any form of distaste - if she were entirely honest she would rather like to bathe as her coat was in need of some care but she wasn't surprised in the slightest that he would advise such a thing.
"And I do live in the mountains, it's only logical to clamber further up every now and again." She mused as she delicately shook her head to readjust the positioning of her 'firey' mane, she was pleased to see it flow into the place she desired. "Besides, I rather like to explore and I hadn't been there before, although I have to admit that given the weather it wasn't my most educate of decisions." She confessed and canted her head to the side.
"As for bathing, I wouldn't mind in the slightest - I just hope your companion can swim..."
.orchu.
Orchu felt a nagging feeling to stick his tongue out at the sarcastic mare, although he was aware so was only joking with him. He was surprised when Yei nuzzled him but never the less nipped playfully at her mane in return and began chuckling as well. The stallion enjoyed light sarcasm and being playful at times; although he had seldomly acted in such a demeanor since he had grown from being a colt. Orchu tilted his head; flicking his ears about. "You live in the mountains? Which area pray tell; and do you have a teepee in which you live?" He felt obnoxious asking so many questions and grinned sheepishly at the mare. For he meant not to be that of intruding upon her life and personal information which the mare might wish to elude from him. Orchu laughed lightly. "No; it truthfully doesn't seem as though it was a wise decision. Although luckily it can be washed away." He winked at her and smirked inwardly to himself. "And now Yei I feel we should head towards the river. Rami will be fine I can assure you; bears are born swimmers." He nodded at Yei and looked down at his familiar, gesturing with his muzzle the bear should come with them. Orchu staring walking towards the outskirts of the forest; he knew the river lie beyond the clearing which was just outside the lining of the forest.

[.M E E T I N G.] .yei umeko, thelerian.
.thel.
It was a typical day. The sun was up, the birds were chirping, Elan was being as sacarstic as usual. Thel couldn't feel more at home at the moment; though 'home' would not an appropriate word seeing that Thelerian was taking a dip in the lake.
Taking a deep breath the stallion plunged his head into the icy cold water and blew bubbles from under its surface. The cold water was delicious to the painted stallion on such a hot day as this. Too bad Elan can't swim thought Thelerian to himself as he resurfaced.
"Thel! You're scaring all the fishes away! Now what am I going to eat?" yelled Elan as he flew overhead. "Would it hurt you to be a little more understanding?"
"Sorry Elan though...I think the fishes were chased away by your loud cry...," Thelerian replied smiling slightly. Even while jesting with Elan Thelerian's voice did not change it's quiet tone. The only way to see if the stallion was actually enjoying himself was to observe the runes on his legs. They seem to grow darker and lighter depending on his mood. Right now they were emitting a pleasant glow from beneath the water's surface.
.yei umeko.
The bickering between the pair was easy to recognise, she had only met them once before and yet both unique individuals had made enough of an impression upon her to allow her to recall them with suitable ease. It was therefore no surprise that the firey female gave a flick of her mane and slipped out of the forests towards the lake, making her way across the clearing with sufficient ease.
If she were to be entirely honest she wasn't used to the heat, on the contrary the mountains were significantly cooler and although she kept her expression passive she was mentally very disgruntled by the stifling heat that would have otherwise engulfed and suffocated her had she received no other distraction - in fact she was rather thankful for the interuption.
"Well!" She announced in a merry tone, her voice resonating across the still air towards the paint stallion while her 'spirited' red coat seemed to develop even more of a glow in the rather severe rays of sunlight, "Here is a face I haven't seen in a while!" She teased softly and released a delicate chuckle.
"Am I still as scary as before?" She continued in the same jesting manner.
.thel.
"Huh?" Thelerian replied wheeling around to face the firey female. Recognition was slammed into his face at once and the painted stallion immediately began making for the bank in fear that the mare would chide him about not greeting her properly. Upon reaching the water's edge the stallion houled himself up. Unfortunately this act did little to improve his state. Dripping from head to hoof with water, Thelerian resembled what Elan later described as a 'huge drowned rat'. "Umm...uhh..good day miss Yei," Thelerian stammered a greeting (it was unclear if the stammering was from the cold or otherwise).
Meanwhile, Elan who was soaring overhead screeched in suprised. "It's you!"
.yei umeko.
Yei's equine lips creased into a grin as she heard the shriek of the loud mouthed avian, it was with this in mind that she pointed her head upwards and gave a soft whicker towards the eagle and his large wing span as he soared through the sky, cutting through the still air with surprising precision despite the lack of wind - heat thermals perhaps?
Nevertheless, she eventually lowered her head again and fixed her blue gaze upon the stammering stallion who seemed to lack in a terrible amount of confidence - so granted she had chastised him once but it wasn't enough to terrify him into thinking that she was a snappy dragon, now was it?
"Just 'Yei', will do nicely." She assured him delicately and shook her head at the sight of him, "I don't bite you know." She pointed out solemnly.
.thel.
"Oh..umm...Of course you don't," Thelerian replied still looking a little lost and very wet. " So...umm..what brings you here miss...Yei?" Even through the stammerings Thelerian noticed that the mare was not as snappy as she was when they had first met her. Perhaps(and most probably true)...it was Thelerian's fault for trying to evade her in the first place and eversince that meeting Thelerian had made it a point to a least give a nod to an observing female instead of slinking off to the nearest shadows.
"You still have teeth for biting though! " replied Elan from above. It was quite obvious that the avian was still wary of the female who so smoothly countered his every remark. Living with Thel, Elan was not used to someone with a tongue sharper than his.
.yei umeko.
"Yes, but evidently not sharp enough to rip the meat from your hollow bones!" Yei retaliated towards the avian although she meant it solely in jest, the idea of consuming any type of meat was terribly repulsive to her on so many levels...yet she understood the necessity for some to feast upon the flesh of others; personally she would stick with grass though.
However, she eventually turned her gaze back towards the equine who was still terribly shy about her and released a sigh, as handsome as he was, he was really very difficult to speak to when he continued to look at her as if she had multiple heads. She couldn't have been that horrible before.
"Well, if you had not noticed, it is terribly warm." She observed at last and trotted forward until she was at the edge of the lake, her ears pricked in interest at the flickers of silver beneath the surface, "One needs to quench their thirst more frequently these days."
.thel.
" I guess...," Thelerian mumbled as he followed the mare to the river's edge. The sun's bright rays were already begining to dry his painted coat and his mane and tail also did not look as wet as before. Stepping up beside the mare ( but still keeping a relatively large distance) Thelerian too peered into the water. "There are...a lot of fishes in there...," Thelerian said trying to strike up a conversation.
Meanwhile, Elan observed the duo from the safety of a high perch. He was snubbed once again! And by that mare with an attitude as firey as her colour. Elan huffed and turned his gaze elsewhere;his sharp eyes taking in every detail of its surroundings.
Noticing smoke in the distance Elan let out a small chirp in suprise. "What's that?" the hawk called down to the soquilis indicating the direction of the smoke with a flick of his head.
.yei umeko.
Yei's gaze was trained upon the fish for quite some time before she nodded agreeably towards his observation, it was true that there were a sufficient number of fish but she was surprised that the loud-mouthed avian hadn't yet swooped down upon the water's surface to snatch up an unfortunate soul...
"Hm?" Her ears flicked towards Elan's voice and with a snort she flicked her gaze towards where he was pointing and attempted to fix her gaze on the 'smoke' he referred to although apparently it hadn't reached high enough for her to catch sight off yet.
"Why do you not go and see?" She enquired tentatively.
.thel.
"Perhaps... it is best if you do...," Thelerian replied shifting his gaze towards his feathered friend. Though he could not see the smoke, it made Thel uneasy. Smoke was always a bad sign. Smoke meant fire was nearby and fire destroys things. Even humans who claimed that they have had control over the 'red flower' sometimes lost their lives to it thus making no one a true master of flames.
"Uh huh...if you two really want to be alone that bad, you could have just asked," Elan replied jokingly and chuckled when he saw the painted stallion's face change. "Nah, I know what you mean. Be right back in a flash!" the hawk called out before spreading his wings and taking off into the direction of the smoke.
.yei umeko.
Yei quirked a brow and glanced at Thel, unfortunately she had to confess that such a shy male could only amount to a friend in her eyes as she was one who was more attracted to the 'animated' and more headstrong of the kind - whether they had wings, horns or not, she was always more inclined towards someone who could hold their own against her whenever she was jesting with them...Quick wit was most attractive to her.
"Alas, I would not worry quite so much Thel." She cooed softly as she nudged at his neck and offered a small smile, snorting her long forelock out of her eyes, "I am sure it is nothing but if it worries you so we can retreat in to the hills?" She offered dutifully.
.thel.
"No offence but...I think we should wait till Elan returns safely...," Thelerian replied keeping his eyes in the sky. " I wouldn't want another lecture from him you know," Thelerian replied faking a pained expression at the thought of hearing Elan's rant. In truth, Thelerian was slightly worried about his friend though he knew that most of his worries were uncalled for. Elan was more than able to defend himself against danger and that bird could also be quick witted when it was needed.
Far away Elan spread his wings and flapped hard. Flying when there was not much wind was hard work to the hawk. Nearing the source of the smoke, the hawk began circling as if in a hunt. The fire was made by humans alright. A group of them were burning down trees to be cleared for 'cultivation' which, to the hawk made no sense. They burned down trees only to plant other trees in its place...
Taking one last look at their activity the hawk pulled away from the humans and staedily made his way back to the two soquilis.
.yei umeko.
Yei nodded at Thel's words and simply turned her gaze backtowards the water where the silver 'slips' continued to flicker beneath the water's surface. Needless to say, she found their continuous movements and activities to be fascinating as they never seemed to be still, she wasn't even sure that they slept beneath the water!
"You allow your bird to lecture you?" She enquired curiously, turning her gaze towards him with a hint of amusement within her voice. From these words it was evident that she didn't actually have a companion and thus she failed to understand the bond between a familiar and equine.
.thel.
"Well...Elan would called that advice but I think it's lecture," Thelerian replied shrugging. "Either way he gets to let off the steam that he has picked up from...goodness knows where...,"
A sudden splash made Thelerian look up in suprise. The hawk had moved so silently that Thel did not notice that Elan had returned until he had dived into the lake and caught an unwary fish.
"Sorry, couldn't leave an opportunity like that lying about...," explained Elan as he flew off to the nearest branch with his catch. Pinning the fish down with his talons the hawk then looked back at the soquilis. "The fire was made by humans clearing the forest. Nothing to worry about," said Elan before plunging his beak into the fish's flesh and tearing it out.
At that sight Thelerian turned away. As much as he liked his friend, his eating habbits were; to put it mildly quite gruesome to the painted stallion.
.yei umeko.
Yei raised a brow, she understood the hawk's eating habits but it was more the acts of the humans that made her particularly upset. Having lived in the mountains for so long she was used to untouched soils and the idea that trees would be destroyed for the benefit of human-kind was rather distressing, in fact she had to take a few moments to calm herself before speaking.
"Many thanks for taking a look." She murmured at last and bowed her head, a small smile fluttering onto her equine lips once more despite the sickening feeling welling up within her stomach.
"Is he always that callous with fish?" She enquired as she turned her head away from the dining hawk.
.thel.
Thelerian nodded. "I'm afraid...that that is the one habit he refuses to change. Regardless of what others tell him,"
"What? I don't grumble about how you guys take hours grazing in the fields do I?" Elan asked as he proceeded to tear away at the flesh with gusto. " Your eating habits are as alien to me as mine is to yours,"
"...But you don't feel sick seeing us eat now do you?" Thelerian shot back.
"No...," Elan admitted. " But you make me feel bored,"
.yei umeko.
"You simply do not appreciate the sweet taste, the delicate texture and delightful scents of the foliage in which you now sit upon so haphazardly." Yei pointed out coolly as she gave a snort and abruptly plunged into the lake in order to cool herself down, to her it felt as if her entire skin were bubbling and she needed to find some sort of relief wherever possible.
Nevertheless, she did give a lose chuckle as she dunked her head into the water briefly and then turned her azure gaze back towards the stallion, "Where did you locate such a character as he?" She enquired curiously, for she had never encountered an entity such as he on her travels.
.thel.
"I met him...during one of my travels...," Thelerian replied stepping slowly into the water. " After our first meeting...( "which ended with an argument," quipped Elan) ... we sort of just clicked,"
"Yep! And boy did Thel needed looking after. Sometimes he acts as if he has not yet matured beyond a foal!" cackled Elan.
"Elan...," warned Thel. "Don't make me start on your side of the story now...,"
"Sheesh...spoil sport," Elan replied flapping his wings. Then turning his attention back to the half eaten fish the hawk sighed. " Man...that fish was bigger than I thought...now I'm fulll...,"
"You are greedy...," said Thel rolling his eyes.
.yei umeko.
"I see." Yei raised a brow at the banter before admiring her reflection in the water, she wasn't surprised to see her hair looking remotely stringy due to the severe heat and after a while she simply shook her mane and made a mental note to wash it and her coat later on.
"I have never had the opportunity to meet one such as he." She confessed with a wry smile while emphasising that she was terribly used to being alone and thus she might find it remotely unusual to have a companion such as that hawk wandering around her idly - although she had to admit that she would have loved to persuade a raccoon to play with her or she would quite happily adopt Orchu's bear!
"What's it like?"
.thel.
"And you most probably won't," replied Elan smugly. " I'm one of a kind! The only...,"
"...sarcastic hawk on this side of the world," finished Thel shaking his head. Now that he was in the deeper part of the lake Thelerian took the opportunity to submerge himself in it. After a while the painted stallion re-emerge in time to hear Yei's question.
"You mean...what's it like to have a companion or...what's it like to live with Elan?" the stallion enquired. "Oh well...it is the same either way I guess.Elan, although loud-mouthed and all is one of my closest friend and...I will not part with him for anything in the world," said Thel in what was most probably his most sincere and earnest reply so far.
.yei umeko.
"Oh." Yei smiled guiltily and admired her reflection in the lake against, submerged up to her shoulders she was by no means too warm but she was still rather unimpressed by her appearance in the given circumstances...in fact she wasn't very happy at all, she would have to take a mental note and ask Achak to aid her...or at least nudge him until he got the message.
"That must be nice." She mused, dipping her muzzle into the lake to taste the cool water before lifting her head once more, "To have company all the time." She added as if to explain herself before giving a whicker and shaking her head, "Is company such as yours hard to find then?"
.thel.
"I'm not sure...," replied Thel also staring into the water at his reflection. Then shaking his head the stallion directed his view once again to the firey mare. "It was not like I was actually looking for a companion...if you know what I mean miss Yei. I would say that chance and luck brought us together actually...,"
"Why are you asking about companions Yei? Don't tell me you're lonely," teased Elan with a hint of suprise in it. In Elan's opinion (disregarding the fact that he is a hawk) Yei was a good looking and intelligent mare and any stallion with a right mind would be pleased to to have her by his side.
.yei umeko.
For a while the red mare looked unusually uncomfortable and simply stared down at her reflection before releasing a snort and a tentative laugh, "Me - lonely?" She enquired and then shook her head, the tendrils of gold, black and red within her hair shimmering in the penetrating rays of sunlight that cascaded down upon the expanse.
"No, no; I was merely curious." She lied and offered a smile before glancing down at her reflection again. Intelligent and pretty were all well and good but the majority of mares were just that and thus she could hardly stand out against anyone, especially when they had wings and horns!
"No harm in asking questions to broaden my understanding of things." She pointed out smoothly and flashed a grin.
.thel.
"Really... miss Yei?" Thelerian asked with a slight concern in his voice. Somehow for one who had claimed to be merely enquiring about familiars; the mare looked rather uncomfortable. "Today is uncommonly hot...I wonder if it will get worse towards noon..." said Thelerian trying to change the subject. It was best not to carry on a topic that someone was uncomfortable with.
" Yeah... I bet we could cook stuff without fire in this weather," said Elan who was now atop Thel's back. Though the hawk did not fancy swimming, a free 'boat ride' was always something Elan found hard to pass up.
.yei umeko.
"Really." Yei confirmed, her voice now steady as she became more sure of herself and then released a lilting laugh in acceptance of his observation, he was right in referring to the day as 'hot' - thank goodness for such a firey coat, had she been black and she might have died in the heat!
"Alas, by noon I suspect I will have retreated to the mountainous areas once more, I do have matters to attend to." She confessed with a quick glance at her messy mane, "For example, fixing my appearance would be one but I am sure that Achak will require my help." She murmured, a flash of fondness flitting through her eyes at the mention of her 'owner'.
"I suppose you could always retreat into the trees?"
.thel.
"I will...be able to find someplace," Thelerian replied nodding. " No worries. But tell me, how's life in these hills? I've never been to them yet,"
"Once you've seen one, you've seen them all," said Elan with a knowing look. " I mean, there's only alpine trees and rocks; not to mention a little snow here and there. I don't think other places should be any difference Thel,"

[.M E E T I N G.] .yei umeko, thelerian, nagual, helaku.
.thel.
Should I? Shouldn't I? Thelerian thought to himself as he came across a very irresistable spot on the ground. It was a perfect piece of ground for one to roll oneself on and yet...
Thelerian gave his surroundings another glance. Elan was off hunting and there weren't any other soquilis about. Not any that the painted stallion could see that is. Finally making up his mind Thelerian took a deep breath and sank to his kness. Placing his head among the tall and sweet smelling grass felt so good. Soon, the painted stallion was having a fine time stretching and rolling; nevermind that his mane was soon entangled with bits of grass and twigs...
.nagual.
Nagual-An and her berries.... there was never a more perfect couple! More so, it was finding the berries that occupied her time so much. Lately, though, she had not been having very good luck in her hunting. The berries simply were elusive, and yet, it did not dampen her spirits one bit.
The mare thought she saw a berry bush and went straight for it. Pouting once she arrived, Nagual saw that the bush had been stripped of everything. Over the top, however, she saw a stallion rolling in the ground... again, and again, and again.
With a giggle, Nagual walked over and smiled down at him, "I heard that if you roll a lot, you can get bald-spots all over your body.... of course, if could just be a rumor!" Her broad smile hinted to the fact that she was joking.
.yei umeko.
It was an interesting thought, or at least she considered it an interesting one as she descended the mountainside and savoured the cool air that embraced her as she slipped beneath the canopies of the forest at it's base. She had finally recovered from her bed raggled state and was more than delighted with how carefully Achak had tended to her yet his overly excited chatter was really quite peculiar...he kept talking about raccoons for some unusual reason.
Releasing a sigh, the firey female picked her way through the undergrowth and for a time, failed to heed any of the sights or sounds around her until she picked up the curious and rather familiar voice a distance away from her.
Nagual-an?
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she came to a halt and strained to hear, for some reason the girl sounded more mature but then again how long had it been since they had last spoken? She smiled at this and eventually shook her head, quite a while she expected and it was with that in mind that she began to move forward once more with the intent of being reunited with an old acquaintence.
There was just one more question in her mind: Who was she talking to?
.thel.
Huh? Someone was talking to him! And not to mention in this rather embarassing situation! Jerking up with the speed only available to one who has been caught doing something one would rather others not see Thelerian quickly spun around to see the source of the voice (nearly tripping over his legs as he did so).
"I did not see you coming....," the stallion barely squeak out before he felt blood rushing to his cheeks. Oh dear....How would he ever live if Elan found out about his? Shaking his head to rid himself of the grass and twigs that were in his mane Thelerian once again apologised to the female soquili. "I'm really s-sorry... I-I did not know you were there....,"
.nagual.
If anything, the stallion's discomfort only made her giggle. Granted, she did have to jump out of the way to avoid being collided into, but Nagual didn't mind.
When her giggle-fit ended, the mare looked at Thelerian questioningly, "There is no harm done, and I am not sure why you are apologizing so profusely! If anything, I should be apologizing for come up on you so suddenly.... But I am not surprised you did not see me. Rolling with that much enthusiasm would definitely cut out the rest of the world."
With a smirk, and her pink eyes twinkling with humor, the mare bowed her head slightly, "I am Nagual-An, by the way."
.yei umeko.
Aha! It was Thel, a grin flashed up onto her equine lips and she shook her head - now wouldn't those two make such a cute couple? Such thoughts always popped into her head now and again but she couldn't help but be a hopeless romantic most of the time, it must have been the influence of a certain companion at her own teepee which caused such unusual thoughts.
Hmm.
She broke into a trot at this and picked her way with careful precision across the under growth to avoid disturbances before once more slowing to a more peaceful gait as she reached them.
"Well, well, well!" She announced in the typical cheery voice in which she held, "Here are a pair I haven't seen in a while!" She added, ducking beneath a low branch so that she could pop her head through a particular 'bush' to glance at the pair, her brow quirking at the state of Thel and then the matured Nagual.
"I hope you haven't been up to anything I wouldn't do." Yei replied devillishly as she eyed Nagual, a twinkle in her own youthful eyes to denote that she was of course, jesting.
.thel.
"Ah...a-and I'm Thelerian....Thel for short. Please to meet you miss... Nagual," Thelerian replied nodding. A few more stray twigs fell out of his hair and the painted stallion dare not even look to see how his tail was faring. Having a rather long tail meant that a host of unwanted things could be found entangled there; especially when one was rolling about as he had done.
A sudden sound of clip-clopping hooves and a familiar voice too caught his attention and directing his gaze away from Nagual Thelerian spotted Yei (or Yei's head which suddenly appeared from a bush); the firey young mare who always seemed well groomed. "Oh...errr... hi Yei...," Thelerian replied.
Noticing that Yei had greeted Nagual with familiarity the stallion raised an eyebrow. "You two...know each other?"
.nagual.
One of the twigs that was tangled in Thelerian's forelock, hanging on his forehead in a blind spot for the stallion, was really beginning to bother her. Nagual reached forward and plucked it out. "Well, it's good to meet you, Thel!"
At the sound of Yei's voice, the mare perked. "Oh, Yei! I'm so glad to see you again! How are you... and how do you manage to always be without stallion followers around you? I would imagine you'd have a hard time beating them off!" Of course, Nagual was trying to change the subject from 'her' love life to the other mare's.
Smiling over at Thelerian again, Nagual nodded, her silky mane flopping around her face childishly. "Yeah, we know each other. I met Yei when I was just a wee-little filly. I haven't seen her in quite awhile, though," she pouted slightly and gave Yei a pathetic look.
.yei umeko.
Yei seemed remotely uncomfortable at the mention of her own lovelife and after a few moments she simply released a chuckle and slipped out of the bush so that her firey red coat was perfectly visible, "Nagual, you should know by now that males -" She paused as she sought out the right words and then shook her head, there was really no simple way to explain the issue she had with males.
"Males enjoy my company, they find pleasure in my manner but I am not suitable material when being considered as a mate." She pointed out blandly and gave a shrug, her gaze flicking towards Thel who was, once again looking relatively uncomfortable.
"I promise she doesn't bite either Thel." She murmured softly.
.helaku.
A lanky grey stallion dwindled at the forests edge, large chocolate eyes set on a small group of Soquili. He contimplated going over toward them, to try and strike up a conversation, or to meddle on his way, not disturbing anyone. He, being a bit of a loner, didn't know very many others, so it caused a bit of a disadvantage when he was faced with social situations.
Snorting, he tossed his large grey head anxiously, stomping a forefoot. Yes, I'll do it. He delcared to himself, trotting toward the others at a brisk pace.
"Hello. I'm Helaku."
He told them, his deep voice softer than usual as he felt their eyes on him. This was a bad idea...
.thel.
"O-of course she ... does not...," Thelerian replied giving Yei a sheepish laugh. Was he really acting that freaked out? Taking a deep breath Thelerian tried to recollect his wits when suddenly Nagual stepped forward and gently took out a twig from his forelock. Stepping back in mild supporise and blinking a few times the painted stallion then noticed yet another soquili coming their way.Oh no...more company thought Thel before shaking his head. This place was different than the rest. Animals here were a lot more civilised and besides, Thel had made up his mind to try and be 'more socialise' as Elan had put it. With that in mind the painted stallion observed the approaching soquili.
The approaching soquili was a fine young stallion. Strong and confident looking;the two things Thel did not exactly feel right now in his present state. However, Thel noticed that the male too seemed unsure whether his presence was welcomed or not.So trying to sound friendly Thelerian whinnied a soft greeting.
.nagual.
Unlike the males, Nagual had no problem with more company... in fact, she loved meeting others! She couldn't resist turning to Yei and sighed emphatically, "Come now, don't say that... you never know what goes on in private". The mare winked then turned to where Thelerian greeted the other.
The mare raised her head and eyed the approaching stallion, "Well hello, there!" Her voice had the ever-present hint of a happy smile in it.
.yei umeko.
You never know what goes on in private...
Now what was that meant to mean? Yei could only stare at the young mare in a dumbfounded sort of way before turning her gaze towards Helaku for a few moments - granted the young mare had already beaten her to the formal greeting but alas she did offer a smile and a bow of her head to show that she was more than happy with his company.
"I suffer from the same problem as my companion I fear, he rather seems himself as the 'just friends' type, whereas I appear to be the female version of that." She jested and released a small chuckle before at last shaking her head.
"I bid you greetings though," She turned to Thel again and grinned, "She really doesn't bite dear but she sometimes gets cravings for the tips of Male ears." She mused, her expression firm and serious as though she was telling the truth...when in actual fact it was complete and utter nonsense, "Do try to keep your head above hers, yes?"
.thel.
"She... bites male's ears?" repeated Thelerian who instictively pulled his back eventhough he knew that Yei was probably joking. Turning to Nagual Thelerian let out a small smile. " Yei is joking right miss...Nagual?"
At that instant, Elan who had been hunting returned. "Thel! And Yei and ...?" the hawk asked as he landed on the stallion's back. " I don't think we've met before miss...unless of course Thel's is keeping something from me," the avain said looking at Nagual then Yei and finally Thelerian.
"We've...just met....," Thelerian replied. "Nothing else Elan....,"
.nagual.
Nagual sent a positively bone-chilling glare Yei's way, "Now, was that entirely necessary? Now they are going to think I am a cannibal or something." It was also obvious that the mare didn't mean a word of it, for her face took on a slight smile soon after. Turning to the stallion, she shook her head, "No, I don't eat or nibble on or bite ears. Yei's just teasing. She's just upset no male has offered their own ears to her."
She smiled brighly at the hawk's approach, "I am Nagual-An. I am going to assume you are Elan?"
Nagual turned back to Yei and giggled, wrinkling her nose at the mare.
.yei umeko.
Did Nagual just accuse her of eating male ears? Yei's mind was really functioning at a rather slow pace today and she furrowed her brow as she attempted to very slowly coax the cogs in her mind to begin turning again - needless to say her mind did not appreciate such a request and her thoughts seemed to become even slower (if that were at all possible).
"I'm too red." She said finally as though hit by a sudden revelation, her gaze flickering up towards the two soquili who although beautiful, were of more subtle and earthan colours - no wonder nobody took interest in her, she was too red!
Damn Spirits.
She gave a snort and then released a sigh as she shook her head from side to side, "Personally I would rather chew at their mane, there's not really much to the tip of the ear." She mused thoughtfully.
.thel.
"Yep! Yep! That I am! " replied Elan flapping his wings. "Nice to meet you Nagual! Did Thel behave himself?"
"Of course I behave myself...," muttered Thel giving Elan a bored glance. " Why did you think otherwise?"
"Well...for one...you're in a horrible mess," Elan replied cackling. " Did you fall down a hill?"
"No...," Thel replied before realising that Yei had mentioned something about being 'too red'.
"Miss Yei...I don't think I understand...about the red part that is...," Thel replied looking at Yei and in the process ignoring Elan's remark about 'keeping a good image for the ladies'. She looked fine to him. True, her coat colour was unique but here where horses or soquilis as they are called came in all sort of colours.
.nagual.
Nagual stared at Yei, "There is no such thing as 'too red', my dear!" She tossled her mane and snickered, "if anything, I'd say that would be a bonus... red is the color of passion; or so I have heard."
The mare went to pondering, "I don't know. There are more nerves in the ears; you'd think it would feel more.... better if one was to chew on another's ear rather than their mane." Nagual eyed Thelerian, "You're a male, Thel, what do you think? Would you prefer a mare to nibble on your ear or mane?"
.yei umeko.
Yei couldn't surpress her smile, Nagual was certainly much more exhuberant than before and it was extremely refreshing to see a mare who was perfectly content to ask rather probing questions to a male, especially when they were mild forms of seduction.
"Yes do tell us, the ears or the mane?" She enquired curiously as she moved forward to peer at Thel in a thoughtful manner, her eyes fixed upon his ears as though she was going to use him as the test subject if she didn't receive an answer.
Granted, if she did receive an answer though she was going to experiment on every male she could find that wouldn't skewer her up against a tree...
.thel.
"Ahh...err....,"stammered Thelerian breaking out into a cold sweat. He never saw that question coming and he certainly had no anwers for them. Do males actually have to endure females biting their ears and mane? That thought scared the painted stallion a lot. He always thought that stallions with tattered ears got them from a fight with others....
Stepping back away from the females slowly until his back hit a tree Thelerian would have welcomed any form of divertion just then. But even Elan seemed keen on getting an answer from him.
Gulping the painted stallion tried to think of an answer. Would he like his ears bitten or would he prefer to sacrifice his mane?
"A-actually....I...ahh.....I mean.......I would not know... I'm still...single....after all...," squeaked Thelerian hoping that that would suffice as an answer. "P-perhaps a stallion who has had experience would be a better person to ask...,"
.nagual.
Nagual kept a straight face while Thelerian stammered, even though her pink eyes were laughing the whole time. When he finally came out with his inconclusive theory, the mare gave him a half smile. Maybe they were being too cruel to him. Even though the stallion was fairly skittish, Nagual came to the conclusion that she liked him and valued his friendship.
The mare eyed Yei from the side, "I don't know, Yei... do you think that is a sufficient enough answer? Should we let him off this time?"
.yei umeko.
"I must confess, I am terribly disappointed with the reply." Yei mused, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she crept forward and placed her muzzle against Thel's. She remained there for a time before giving a giggle and glancing back towards Nagual as though she'd come up with an idea that would make him decide.
"Why don't we give him a taster?" She mused curiously as she withdrew from his muzzle and swung round to glance at his mane and then his ears in thought. Needless to say she was of a suitable height to be able to reach his ears if the opportunity presented itself to her.
"That way he would be able to know for sure!" She chirped, her expression becoming serious despite the fact that inside she had broken into a fit of giggles - she was hardly going to torture the poor stallion like this but she was curious as to how he'd react!
.thel.
Well needless to say, when Yei approached the painted stallion Thelerian backed even further into the tree( if that is possible) with his forelegs almost touching his backlegs and stared at her with his eyes wide open. Why was she coming closer? What did she plan to do? Flattening his ears till they could go no further Thelerian tried to scamble away but it was too late. The mare had already closed in on him and before Thelerian had any time to react, she had placed her muzzle on his. When that happened the stallion thought that his legs would betray him. They were shaking so horribly.
Finally, after what seemed like eternity the mare removed her muzzle and a sigh of relief could be heard coming from the terrified stallion. But that sigh was short lived however when Yei suggested that he should be a test subject to their previous question. Words at that moment seemed to have left the stallion completely.
.nagual.
Nagual never imagined a stallion would act this way. Sure, the answer they were trying to get out of him was fairly.... personal, but all they needed was an answer, no? With a smirk, the mare approached the two, trying to get as good a view as she could.
Noticing that Thelerian was almost sitting, the mare snorted, "Huh! I never knew a male could do that! That position cannot possibly be comfortable." She leaned down to see how her legs were sustaining him, her long mane brushed against him and Yei. Nagual went to it to inspect Thelerian's hooves and legs... also, she wanted to prevent an escape through the ground, just in case he found a way to manage that.
.yei umeko.
"Oh for goodness sake! I already told you I don't bite!" Yei released a lilting laugh as she backed away slightly and shook her head. Her eyes were glimmering with amusement at the vident panic the poor stallion had endured and she quietly released a sigh as she watched Nagual inspect him, "I only nibble and that's very rarely." She added as an after thought and quirked a brow.
"Everything to your liking Nagual?" She added teasingly and then, with another chuckle she turned her neck slightly to snap at an itch along her flank, it seemed to disappear after a few 'chomps' of her teeth against her lucious red coat.
"You really should calm down Thel, we're both harmless...that much I can assure you of." She cooed, failing to mention that she could be a right 'madam' when she was in a bad mood.
.thel.
Thelerian watched as Yei withdrew and squirmed slightly when Nagual came up. Eventhough the first wave of panic was over (and the second had not started) Thelerian did not trust himself to get up just yet. He might fall and the thought of the two giggling females trying to support him on each side terrified him. They did not seem so 'harmless' to the stallion at the moment regardless of what Yei said.
When he had finally found his tongue, the stallion stammered"...L-let me go? "
.nagual.
Nagual leaned back and pouted at Yei, stepping away from Thelerian, "To my liking? I honestly didn't get that good of a look.... surely, you would know, you were closer, Yei!" The mare smiled then eyed the stallion, "Let you go? My dear Thelerian, we never had you!"
Regardless of what she said, she stepped all the way near Yei. Turning to face the mare, Nagual cocked her head to the side, "So what do you think?"
.yei umeko.
Yei simply chuckled at his feeble words and after a few moments she released a delicate sigh, her ears flicking towards the mountainside where she could hear the faint call of a rather familiar horn - it was that of her 'master' and although his calls were rare she understood that her presence was necessary at home.
"Alas, I must depart for now but do try to stay out of trouble." She mused teasingly, the twinkle still in her eyes despite a slight flash of worry betraying her expression, "And no doubt I will see you both again." She added almost as an after thought alongside her tentative whicker.
"Oh, and whether your free your hostage is up to you." She grinned at this. "Do try to get an answer out of him for me Nagual, the reply will prove invaluable in my exploration of the male kind." She finished and then gave a giggle as she broke first into a canter and then into a gallop as she propelled herself towards the slopes.

[.M E E T I N G .] .thel, yei umeko, hotaru.
.yei umeko.
The rain, what a difference it made to both the atmosphere and to her home - it was with an idle snort that she carefully picked her way down the slippery slope and flattened her ears briefly against her neck. In her short time up in the slopes she had grown used to the cold again but the fact that the rain battered and tussled her coat was really quite agrivating...
"Just a little further." The masculine voice whispered in her ear as she felt the delicate caress of the human's fingertips against her neck and mane, both words and touch soothing her rather strained nerves, "And then we will be on safe ground." He added before drifting into silence again.
The being upon her back was of course, Achak, who had deemed it essential to gather some of the herbs at the base of the mountain while they were mere sprigs - due to the fact that she was heading down the mountainside herself it was only logical and thus he had accompanied her for once in her life.
Nevertheless, she was terribly relieved as she entered the forest canopy once more and gave a light shudder as the warmth embraced her. In comparison to the mountainsides these forests were the tropics and the shelter they provided from the unwelcomed drizzle outside were much appreciated in her opinion, her spirits even seemed to brighten as Achak dismounted, provided her with a delicate kiss to the nose and wandered off into some obscure region of the forest that he deemed as suitable for exploration.
Now however, she was free to roam and it was with a small smile that she gave a high pitched whinny and an almighty shake to release much of the damp from her coat...a shame that her mane still resembled the tails of rats though, she would have to hold Achak to his promise of grooming later and if she did not receive it she would give him a rather abrupt nudge.
Satisfied with her appearance (however bedraggled it might have been) she then began to pick her way across the forest floor in search of some company of her own - she had always found that foliage wasn't very talkative despite her numerous attempts to converse with it.
.thel.
"Thel...my feathers are soaked...," groan Elan as he sat perched on the stallion's back. "Let's go find a shelter of some sort before I sneeze my feathers off,"
"Elan...I don't think that that would be possible...," Thelerian replied laughing softly at his friend. "I never heard of any animal sneezing their fur or feathers off before and I doubt you'll be the first," Nevertheless, the image of Elan sneezing and looking like a plucked bird amused the stallion. But thankfully Thelerian was smart enough to keep that to himself.
"Thel, how about that forest over there? It might provide shelter...," Elan said ruffling his soaked feathers. "It is better than being out here anyway,"
"Ummm...maybe," said Thel turning his gaze towards the forest. "But after the previous incident I was thinking that getting you wet would be a lovely payback...,"
"That's not fair at all Thel. What could I do against the two soquilis?" replied Elan in a whining tone. "Besides, there was no harm to it...,"
"Hmmm...,"said Thel flicking his ears. Nevertheless the painted stallion started to trot towards the forest through the muddy plains.
.yei umeko.
Squelch, squelch, squelch.
Her ears flicked towards the sound that soon became muffled as the hooves impacted against less damp soils, it seemed that whatever equine had entered the forest was undoubtably entering from the clearings and thus she gave a small chuckle...she wasn't surprised by those who suddenly emerged from the most sociable area she knew of.
It was with this in mind that she gave a whicker and broke into a trot of her own as she bounced across the undergrowth towards the sound and paused only briefly to take note of the overly familiar voice.
"This is becoming a habit!" She called over the pitter patter of the rain upon the leaves of the canopy above her.
.thel.
At the sound of Yei's voice Thelerian froze and would probably have turned back if not for Elan who happily screeched out a greeting. "Yei! Good to see you!" the hawk said as he flew off Thel's back and landed on a branch above Yei. "Thel *coughs* is beyond the bushes just in case you're interested,"
To Thelerian at the moment, it sounded more like a conspiracy between the two than anything else at the moment. Taking a few steps back out into the open (and still raining plains) Thelerian snorted. There was no way he could be cornered now.
.yei umeko.
Aha! Yei smiled warmly at Elan as he provided her with the knowledge she sought and very delicately motioned to her back in invitation, if he wanted to hitch a ride he was most welcome to but alas, she didn't remain still for long as she stepped through the bushes and towards the clearing where the pain stallion could be seen rather easily against the green grass beyond.
"I see you!" She cooed teasingly as she slipped out of the forest and gave a shudder as the rain began to smack at her forehead again as though in disapproval of her playful attitude.
.thel.
At Yei's indication Elan flew off his perched and landed atop the mare's back. This was definitely going to be interesting. Though Elan knew that Yei was being playful he wasn't too sure about his painted friend. The guy at the moment seemed to be debating if he should make a dash for it. Was that incident really that traumatic?
When Yei finally emerged from the bushes Thelerian nodded a faint greeting but did not show any indication of coming closer. Though the stallion did not mind company, he was weary (and afraid) of people breaching into his private space. So far, Elan was the only exception.
.yei umeko.
"I can't have been that bad..." Yei furrowed her brow in mild confusion at the peculiar manner in which she was greeted before releasing a sigh and shaking her head. Given the circumstances and the state of her mane it slapped rather unceremoniously against the side of her neck but for the time being she ignored it.
Still, she seemed rather at a loss for words as he seemed to distance himself from her and after a few moments she simply allowed her ears to droop and tentatively made her way towards the lake to gain a more refreshing drink than the strains within the mountains could provide during times of persistant rain.
"Guess no fun today then, hm?" She added thoughtfully as her azure gaze caught sight of the mirror-like liquid ahead.
.thel.
Thelerian felt bad about hurting the mare's feeling but he couldn't bring himself to take the chance of another suprise encounter. Nevertheless he followed Yei to the water's edge. His ears too were pushed back slightly. "Miss Yei...I...," Thelerian spoke but gave up completing the sentence. She was probably angry at him anyway. Why shouldn't she be? Most stallions would be happy to have a mare greet them in the rain.
Elan watched as his friend follwed Yei from behind and sighed. It was unfortunate that his friend was being so sensitive about how close one should get but Elan supposed his friend had his reasons.
.yei umeko.
She wasn't angry, simply disappointed in the fact that he had taken a sudden turn against her. Granted, she knew that he was shy but this was something entirely different and with a snort she lowered her head to the water's edge to take a gulp of the cool liquid - granted she had to close her eyes to avoid the water droplets that sprung up as the rain collided with the surface but she still savoured it.
"Forget it, you have no need to explain." She murmured at last as she lifted her head again and fixed her gaze ahead of her to the haze-obscured horizon across the lake - was that another mountain range or just her eyes playing tricks on her?
.thel.
Thelerian pawed the ground slightly to vent off his guilt. He was being a jerk and he knew it. But what was he supposed to do? Comforting the mare would be a start but his legs did not seem to want to move.
Elan observed the two soquilis with irritation. Finally, when everything seemed t come to a stand still where neither Thelerian nor Yei seemed to want to speak the avian broke out. "Come on you guys! Cut it out. It is enough to give one a headache seeing the two of you. Thel, we all know you have issues regarding personal space but you could try to be more considerate and as for Yei, perhaps you might forgive my friend over there for being the irrational one that he is,"
Thel winced as he recieved the hawk's sharp words. Bending his head low the stallion cllosed his eyes and whispered. "You're right Elan....I'm...sorry miss Yei. This...won't happen again...."
.yei umeko.
"You're right, it won't." Yei agreed as she released a sigh and kept her gaze fixed on the horizon in the hopes that she might be able to decipher what the shadows within the haze of rain were - so far it was turning out to be completely hopeless from what she could see.
"I will take care not to intrude, I understand when I have gone to far." She added simply as though such an explanation would be sufficient despite the fact that every male she had met was so terribly protective of his own space...was she really that repulsive?
"I am sorry though." She mused.
.hotaru.
Hotaru shook off the water from her pink fur, glowing faintly under the clouded sky. The ake was rather cold, but then again when was it warmer? She smiled to herself as she slowly turned towards the opening. It had been almost a week since she had not enjoyed the company of others, and she missed talking to her kind.. especially him. She had missed him, but somehow she doubted he missed her as much as she did. She streched her small wings and levitated in the air. Flying was one of her main amusements, and especially after a long and refreshing bath in the lake, it was most enjoyable. She flew above the forest and the village and then suddenly, she spotted two of her kind on the ground and she slowly landed on the ground near the soquilis.. a familiar scent.. could it be... him?... she trotted softly towards them.
.thel.
Elan was definitely a lifesaver and not to mention a fierce avian when he wanted to be. Thelerian smiled and was about to step forward and say something when the sound of approaching hooves could be heard. Turning aroung the painted stallion recognised the figure at once. It was Hotaru, the winged soquili he had met sometime ago. Thel let out a soft whinny in her direction.
When the pink mare came up Thelerian attempted to make an introduction. "Miss Yei, this is Hotaru, and Miss Hotaru this is Yei," Thelerian said stepping back slightly for the two soquilis to see each other.
.yei umeko.
Yei fell silent as she observed the sudden change in demeanor, the transformation of the stallion was startling but her face remained impassive as she continued to watch his reaction towards the winged mare and for not the first time in her life, she fell grotesquely inadequate - well she was sorry if she wasn't blessed with wings.
She couldn't help but crinkle her muzzle at the winged mare and after a few moments she released a snort and eventually gave a shake to indicate that she wanted Elan to find a new perch.
"Pleasure." She replied coldly as she turned her head away from the mare...why wasn't she surprised that she had just been outclassed by a soquili who dreamed of being an avian?
.hotaru.
Hotaru replied to Thel's whinny.. so he did miss her, maybe a little. She walked closer and gave a warm welcome to Elan and thel "Long time no see!" she teased Elan "Why didn't you stop by to share some fish with us?" and then she turned to Thel.. It was amazing how she had ran into him when she was in fact thinking how nice such an encounter would be! "Hi Thel! How have you been?" She smiled and then turned a little to see the other soquili who acted rather coldly for a reason she could not understand "It really is a pleasure Miss Yei, I have never seen such amazing colors of the sunset on a soquili's fur!" she blushed, she never knew how to hide her amazement.
.thel.
Thel stared at Yei when he noticed a cold tone in her voice and at Hotaru's warm welcome the stallion shifted uncomfortably though Hotaru did not venture to close to him; ears flicking back and forth as if he did not know what to make out of the situation. He truly wished that he could understand females more and then perhaps, he would not be in such a trouble as he was now.
Getting the message Elan flew off the firey mare's back and landed once again atop Thelerian. Even the avian could feel the tension radiating from Yei as well as Thelerian. "Sorry about not visiting Hotaru, but you know how Thel is like...," Elan replied trying to sound casual. "He always prefers the wild...,"
.yei umeko.
Oh I bet he does." She murmured sarcastically under her breath as she ignored the winged soquili's remarks and simply sauntered a slight distance away from the air. In truth she could already detect the fondness that each held for one another and she hated the bitter taste that always rolled over her tongue when she was snubbed.
Releasing a snort, she soon lowered her head to eye her reflection for a time before at last shaking her head and rising her eyes to focus on the otherside of the lake - it was times like these when she sorely wished that she had a companion to console and keep her company but unfortunately, Achak couldn't really provide her with much in that department.
.hotaru.
Hotaru tilted her head curiously at the red soquili's ignoring of her.. why was she so bitter and resentful? however she sensed trying too hard to communicate with her might push her away she let it drop; all in good time right? if she wanted to get to know her, she would have done that already. she nodded and turned to thel "so you preffer wilderness? say, you havent missed me this much again, have you?" there was a tint of saddness in her tone, she tried to made it sound like it was a joke but those were her true feelings really.
.thel.
Well, Thelerian felt really stuck in the middle right now. To answer one would probably invoke the wrath of the other. " I'm just not fond of humans," replied Thelerian shaking his head. If a choice was given, Thelerian would have chosen to fled from the scene, to start wandering again but that would mean that he just couldn't handle problems any better than in the past. Taking a deep breath the stallion decided that going to try and tackle the matter head on...
"I am a jerk," Thelerian replied shaking his head. "A huge good for nothing jerk. Miss Hotaru, I am really sorry to meet you under this situation, perhaps our next one would be better....and to miss Yei....my behaviour is barbaric to say the least.... I should have behave better...I-I am really sorry....truly...I am...
I suppose this might not help much but... I w-would like to try again...to...to start out once again as...friends....if that is possible...,"here the stallion's voice faltered and he look helplessly at Elan who only shrugged his shoulders and observed the two females.
.yei umeko.
"Perhaps when I have come to terms with my inadequacies then I will consider your offer." Yei replied simply, her ears perking as she heard the tell tale whistle of her companion. This in mind she simply shook her head and swung round to make the trek back into the forest and back to the mountainside where she didn't require wings to gain the attention of anyone, especially males (well, there weren't actually any up there, but still).
Having said that, she failed to offer any notes of goodbye and with another of her snorts she clipped towards the forest canopies once more in search of her 'owner'.

Out of sheer boredom, Sterling made his way to this particular teepee. He had seen the one they called Yei come here before, so he hoped that this was indeed the correct place.
What if she thinks I'm weird? Or worse... ugly! I don't have the guts to talk to a mare... I might as well race a cheetah.
Sterling sighed, and forced his thoughts out of his head.
But she's a very fair and pretty mare. I like looking at her, and maybe she'll find me fun to be around?
"Yei? Are you around?" Sterling stopped near the entrance of the teepee.

"Well that depends..." The feminine voice replied from a sightless location, the tone listless and otherwise content. Given the position of the Teepee, it was safe to assume that the mare was basking in the sunlight around it for there was very little cover unless you took note of the rock face it leant against.
There was a sigh however and a seeming shift from behind the teepee as hooves 'clumped' against the hard soils and at last the firey red mare sauntered out from the back of the teepee, her eyebrow quirked through sheer curiosity of who might have actually taken the time to trek the whole way up here...needless to say she wasn't expecting a stallion, let alone a handsome one such as he.
Alas, the sight of him did initial making her ears perk but given past experiences she soon narrowed her eyes and gave a shake of her head, "If you've lost your filly, none have come passed here." She said finally and released another of her sighs, "But if you give me her description I will keep an eye out." She promised.

"My... filly?" He looked surprised for a moment.
"Oh! No, no. I... I actually came up this way to talk with you. You see, er..."
Sterling stopped talking, blushed ferociously, and then bent his head down, his mane strecthing across the ground.
Won't she think I'm weird if I say I came here because I'd been watching her? What do I do? I'm such an idiot.
Sterling sighed and continued. "I came here because, I just wanted to say hi. I saw you the other day..."
He closed his eyes. Here comes the fussing...

"Oh..." Her reply was so simple and yet it was perfect for the given situation. In fact, it emphasized that she was rather at a loss for words for once in her life and thus she struggled to find something to say as she watched the fur upon his cheeks 'flush' slightly at his evident discomfort - why were the always uncomfortable around her?
"Well I apologise then," She murmured finally as she sauntered away from the Teepee and towards him, a small smile pulling onto her equine lips as she admired his fine physique and gave a small nod, "I am simply used to stallions who have no interest other than to find another mare," She pointed out dolefully before canting her head to the side.
Needless to say, it was an unusual move as one ear seemed to perk and the other seemed to flop to the side in a characteristic 'donkey' pose, it wasn't that she was stupid but it was always an expression she adopted when trying to figure someone out.
"Why didn't you come to say hello?" She asked curiously, after a pause of a few moments.

"Well, I did, I guess. I just had trouble puting that into words..."
Sterling made his way up to her and bowed his head. "My name is Sterling... And you are Yei. I've heard your name around the mountain..."
Stupid. You're making yourself look like an idiot. Stupid.
"I was just wondering... err... did you want to, by chance, take a walk with me around? I don't know, just around. Maybe you can show me around the teepee?"

Around the mountain? She shook her head in disbelief at the concept that others might speak of her and after a few moments she gave a soft whicker of thought. She was hardly going to deny him the pleasure of her company although the idea of walking around her teepee was not in the least bit interesting...there was very little here as Achak appeared to be a minimalist.
"Well, I know some pleasant areas to see if you are feeling particularly brave?" She offered as she turned her head to gaze up towards the dark mists around the top of the mountain quite a way up from her...where she had appeared as a young foal.
"And it is a pleasure to meet you Sterling." She added with a grin.

Sterling's cheeks flushed a light red as he lifted his head.
"It's a pleasure to officially meet you, as well, Yei." He looked to where she indicated they walk to.
"Brave? Of course! It'll be fun! I'll race you!"
Sterling, without any further acknowledgement broke into a canter and then a full gallop up. He soon, however, realized he knew nothing of the terrain, and was forced to slow down.
Well, nice job, big shot. She's probably behind me laughing.

Luckily, she was rather familiar with the ground around her Teepee and thus she followed after him with sufficient ease, her hindlegs significantly more powerful than a normal soquili's due to her continued ascent and descent of the mountain - it put a lot of strain on the legs to say the least and she had had to adapt.
"It might be better to save your energy for a little bit." She mused as she finally caught up with him and allowed herself to walk at a brisk gait, mild amusement flickering in her eyes as she continued up the slope.
"There's a much better places to race further on up." She pointed out mischeviously and shook her head, "You can race me there, but you know you'll lose." She added silkily and flashed another equine smile.
