Since she knew that teaching was a rather strenuous job that required more patience than she would ever have, Aurora was glad to hear that he'd been well. His own question caused her give a small sigh as she answered honestly, "I've been a bit busier than I'm used to." After spending four years traveling and learning, she'd gotten out of the habit of having a strict schedule, something she had to regain for classes. Her schoolwork wasn't too taxing, but she'd signed up for cheerleading and therefore spent at least three weekdays at practice. Still, it was fun and she was enjoying the activity enough that she wouldn't complain. Instead, she reverted to his mention of his painting, a faint smile appearing as she told him, "Botching? I very much doubt that." Recalling the murals along the walls of his studio, she was fairly certain that his work was never of a poor quality.

Turning around at the tap on her shouler, Bella was prepared to some sort of question, so when she heard a compliment instead, a faint smile appeared. Keeping her amusement under control, she spoke politely, not wanting to be rude or unduly stand-offish. "That is a very sweet thing to say." She took in his own appearance, then added honestly, "You look very nice as well. I don't often see such an outfit." That was true, as while she knew a handful of dark elves, she never knew one well enough to see in a formal setting that required them to wear a traditional outfit. After a moment, she decided that there was no need to rush away; she would volunteer her own name, giving him the opportunity to realize that she was a teacher. "I'm Bella, a health professor here."

Rebecca Lawrence | Outfit
Nodded to show that she'd heard Simon's response, she wondered breifly how long 'not long' was by his standards, but didn't ask. Instead, she thought for a moment about his question for her, and she decided that he was most likely asking about her reasons for being at the school, since that was the topic she'd asked of. "I'm half genie, so I need a little help with my abilities." It was the truth, though she chose to not mention exactly what she could do. From her experience, when people knew she could read their minds, they started thinking faster, to cover up whatever they felt shouldn't be heard; all those quick threads of thought would eventually give her a headache, and she would always need to excuse herself. So, she wanted to play it safe tonight, when there was already enough people to keep her on guard. "And you?" she asked, steering the conversation back towards Simon. He looked human enough to her, but he could still belong to all sorts of races, as her stay at Reed's had certaintly shown her.

Lorina Jinn | Outfit
Grinning at the compliment given, she thanked the girl, then glanced over where Ciel shot a glance. Seeing the teacher, she made a mental not to remember him as her brother, though she couldn't recall what his first name was. Ignoring that thought for now, she leaned closer slightly, as if telling her a secret, "Brother have to prove their macho-ness by doting over their sisters." Here, she lowered her voice to a mock whisper, which she knew would do little good, since her friend could easily pick up the thought. "Rich acts the same way."

Richard Lawrence | Outfit
"I do not." he protested, turning his attention away from Emile to face the girls again. Sighing, he spoke again, explaining to Ciel, "I have a younger sister here, too." He pointed in the direction where Rebecca was currently sitting, though she didn't notice, saving him the trouble of having to explain the action later. Sliding one hand into his pocket, he spared a glance around the room again, spotting a few of his friends. "Do either of you mind if I go mingle?" he asked after a couple of moments, though it was more for Ciel's benefit, as he knew Lorina wouldn't mind.

User Image "Half-genie, eh? I'm guessing a Genie-human combination?" he chuckled slightly, humans weren't usually all that fussed with reproduction with supernaturals, not like supernaturals with other supernaturals, but it had been known to happen, "Well since we're trading race and whatnot I'm a half angel, mother was an angel, father was a human, both nice people... but I'm sure your not interested in that." he laughed slightly again, he went into his philosophic voice, "I'm here to discover my next move in life, I've been told by different people to do different things, I just want to know what I want to do, whether that be setting up a tacky magic shop, or become the CEO of a chain of tacky magic shops." he laughed again, "And there I go again, off on my own little tangents, now, pray tell what are your abilities?" he knew the stories of genies and the Three wishes malarky, but he wanted to know, precisely what a genie could do.

Laughing quietly at Lorina's antics, she gave a small nod of agreement. "He's ten years older, so sometimes he acts more like a dad than a brother sometimes." she didn't sound pleased about that fact, but she was still smiling from Richard's response. She wasn't convinced, he seemed like the sort that would make a very good big brother, but she looked where he was pointing to without comment. Taking note of the girl, memorizing her face for future reference, she turned back to the two. She didn't think it was a bad thing if Richard did dote on his sister, but she didn't know how welcome her opinion was, and so chose to stay quiet. At his question, she was pulled from her thoughts and gave a small shake of her head. "I don't mind." she didn't really think it her place to mind, and she didn't blame him for wanting to leave the awkward girl for greener pastures.

Giving a small nod to accept her answer, he considered it a moment; she had been gone since the incident years ago, and while he didn't know where she had went, he assumed that it hadn't been a school from her words. That was understandable, as being thrown into a school system one was unused to generally made one quite busy. That, and there were always extracurricular activities and a healthy social life to factor in. He smiled at her compliment, at least he assumed it was a compliment, though he didn't agree. "I wouldn't say that. I recently started trying my hand at ink painting." he withdrew on of his hands from his pockets, raising it a bit to show it to her; his fingers were stained the worse, though his palm and the back of his hand were graying a bit from his attempts at scrubbing. There were splotches of skin still visible, but it seemed that he was starting off at the bottom rung of painting with ink. "I seem to get more on my body than on the paper."

PostPosted: Sun Jul 22, 2012 1:13 pm

Aurora Solindo | Outfit
Seeing the stains on his skin, she covered a small smile with her hand for a few moments. It seemed that he was ever the artist, as the past two times she'd seen him about the campus, he'd had on a smock that portrayed paint. Now, she could see clearly that his own hands showed his work. Lowering her hand, she poked the back of his hand to emphasize her point as she told him, "When I was little, I used to think that teachers were automatically perfect at what they do. But now I know everyone starts somewhere." She nodded, then flashed a smile as she continued with a positive tone, "So I'll say what my tutors always told me, 'practice makes perfect.' You'll get more on the paper than yourself in time."

Rebecca Lawrence | Outfit
Nodding at Simon's assumption that her other half was genie, she listened politely to his own race. Interested by the fact that he, too, was mixed, she told him, "It's fine. Now I know that if I run into your mom or dad, they'll be nice people." She smiled at her joke, but quickly gave her attention back to the boy as he continued speaking. She understood what he meant, as it seemed like he was just looking to find out what he wanted from life. She was in the same boat, though she was still in highschool and felt that she had plenty of time before needing to decide. "I see, though I admit I'm not familiar with what is usually sold in magic shops." She'd yet to visit one, since none of her classes demanded such items at this time; still, she knew that such shops would always be needed on this side of the veil. Hearing his next question, she frowned faintly, but quickly managed to cover it with a polite smile once more. It would be rude not to answer, and she'd been speaking with him long enough that she was fairly certain she wouldn't accidentally read his mind. "I can read minds and emotions." she began, leaving out how when she got better at controlling her abilities, she would be able to interefer with another's emotions. Instead, she continued quickly, trying to move on the ability that seemed not be as distrusted. "And I can grant wishes to someone who meets certain requirements. Of course, I'm not really allowed to say what those are, or else I'll be letting myself get trapped."

Lorina Jinn | Outfit
After telling her friend that she didn't mind, she pushed him off, though not in the direction she knew he would go. She watched him move around the table for a few moments, then turned her attention back to Ciel as she continued speaking. "My oldest brother is thrity-four years older than me, so I understand, but we imps are used to large families." She shrugged, knowing that some things were just plain different between races when regarding culture. "As for your brother, you could always do the same to him?" She had little idea of what would happen if she did do something like dote over her brother, just make him realize that such antics grew tiresome quickly. "Or spike his drink so that he's sleeping while you go out and party~" She laughed for a few moments, then quickly put on a seriously expression as she told her, "Okay, I'm kidding. Don't do that or I'll get a big lecture from Mr. Richardson about how pranks can be dangerous and blah, blah, blah."

Richard Lawrence | Outfit
Picking up on Ciel's last thought, he was about to apologize when Lorina pushed him in what he assumed was a random direction. Well, he would leave her to speak with the shapeshifter, and just hope that no bad tricks were passed on. Swerving between a couple of tables and students, he reached the group of friends he'd wanted to speak with. Though he did notice a couple of other familiar faces in the room, he would stay where he was for a little while.

User Image Simon nodded, he noticed the fluctuation in her mood as he brought up her abilities, "Must be a soft spot..." Simon thought, making a mental note to not mention that again, "Heh, I was more thinking one of those "Sleight of hand" magic shops, the ones filled with cheap toys or instruction manuals for tricks like this one..." Simon flipped a coin out of his pocket, placing it between his thumb and forefinger, he captured it in his right hand, he then blew on his hand, opened it and the coin was not there, he stuck his left hand over her left ear "Oh? What do we have here?" he said, pulling his hand back and showing her the coin, as though he'd taken it from behind her ear, "Humans love these sorts of tricks, I was talking about magic shops like that, REAL amulets and tomes of magic would be what a real magic store would stock." he smild slightly, curious as to how she'd react to his trick, if she asked he might explain it to her, but then again she probably already knew how he did it.

Giving a small wave as Richard moved off, she turned her attention back to Lorina. She was a bit surprised to hear that she had a sibling so much older than her, but she chalked it up to racial differences. Ciel gave a small nod to accept her friend's comment about imps and large families. The other girl's suggestion, however, caught her a bit off guard; it wasn't a bad suggestion at all, but she couldn't say she knew quite how to go about it. She laughed openly as Lorina spoke of spiking drinks and lectures, giving a nod to show she understood and wouldn't actually spike a drink. "Actually, I think my brother would be rather supportive of me going to a party. He would say that it's part of a healthy social life." she smiled freely, knowing her brother was a bit strange; always injecting his anthropolgical opinions in everything.

Solomon laughed at her comment about teachers, agreeing wholeheartedly. "Well, I'm still fairly new to the whole teaching thing, so maybe I don't count. Though you've seen my work, so you're aware that I'm very far from perfect." he smiled, allowing his hand to fall to his side after she had poked it. "I do hope you're right. Otherwise I've ruined a whole mess of clothes for nothing." the ink stained worse than the paint, and while he didn't mind stains on his jeans, he wouldn't wear stained shirts in public. His problem was that he would treat the ink like paint if he wasn't careful, and that was what messed him up. Even though he loved paint and painting, he didn't want to restrict himself to one medium; he wanted to broaden the art program there at Reed's as best he could. He could sketch and use pencils, and he was even quite adept at digital art, but ink seemed to be more of a challenge for him.

Miguel was going to talk to the other girl and his teammate when Shikyo stopped him. The teen was a little surprised that a girl did that. There had only been one other girl who did that kind of thing. The teen turned to the girl and looked at her. "Yes?" He asked her wondering what she wanted to ask.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Koran smiled at the woman. It was kind of too bad that she was a teacher. She probably would want nothing to do with him. "I don't have very many western clothes. I kind of feel out of place." He told the woman. He was trying to think about if he wanted to flirt with her or not.
"Well...um..." Shikyo began as she wanted to ask him out but she couldn't help but be shy as her cheeks were starting to turn a light shade of pink. "Instead of that tour sometime of the school...Maybe we could go out on a date somewhere?" She asked him as she let go of his sleeve, she wasn't going to force him to stay there since he wanted to talk to some other person. She certainly wasn't the type to force anyone into anything and if he did say yes, he would probably be the one pulling her in for kisses and other things.
Miguel smiled at the girl. "Sure." He told her. It was a change of place from a tour, but he didn't mind it. He could get out of practice a little early to go on a date. It was just harder to miss everything. "Catch me in a bit and I'll make sure to have a dance with you." He then turned and walked over to his teammate. "Hey." He told her with a smile. "Um... how was practice? I wanted to make sure things are going well."
Looking up at a familiar voice, Asta looks to the boy speaking with a studious expression; she had just finished a small paragraph, the Norwegian lightly sprinkled with words in English that didn't translate appropriately or didn't have words in the old tongue. "Hei." she greeted him informally in Norwegian, though it sounded enough like the English 'hey' that he needn't speak the language. She was curious as to why the boy had approached, as he had seemed rather eager to get away from her when they'd met. That, and it seemed he was on rather... close terms with the girl he had just been speaking with. Still, the vampiress wasn't about to be rude when he was currently being polite. "Practice is fine. I remember not to wear glasses." she was wearing them currently, but then she wasn't on the soccer field. She wasn't sure why practice wouldn't be going well, maybe he didn't think she was very good, but she stayed quiet about these thoughts.
Aurora Solindo | Outfit
Smiling at his response, Aurora wondered if such thing did work like that; however, she quickly set aside the thought, as all teachers had to be new at some point, and therefore none could automatically be perfect in their lessons. At his self critism, she shook her head, waving it off as told him, "Teachers are also confident." Her tone was light, as she found it amusing that she would be telling him how teachers were supposed to be, when it was only from the eyes of a student. WIth that thought, she added, "Or so it appears from one who does not teach." Her memories of childhood always put teachers in their own world, as if they were different. So now, as she grew older, it was always interesting to think of people she knew going on to teach, or even to see someone who was a fellow student, such as Solomon, get into the profession.
Rebecca Lawrence | Outfit
Readjusting herself, Rebecca moved to cross one leg over the other, words coming from her mouth absently as she told him, "No, it's fine. It just usually bothers oth-" she paused, realizing that Simon hadn't actually spoken that part outloud. For a moment, she bit the inside of her cheek, expecting him to get mad or flustered, but once she was calm again, she continued with an apology, "I'm sorry. See? My abilities sometimes...do that." She felt terrible, as she always did, when she accidentally read another's mind. It was rather intrusive, but when he didn't say anymore about her other abilities she began to relax. Perhaps he didn't mind so much? Sending her guilt away for the time being, she listened to him speak of what his shops would sell, a faint smile appearing at his own trick. "Can you show me how to do that?" she questioned, making sure that her mind was blocked off from his own once more; it would ruin the lesson if she were to discover how reading his mind.
Lorina Jinn | Outfit
Glad not to have to worry about being a bad role model, at least because of that suggestion, she regained her usual smile. "Unfortunately, I don't know much about how to be healthy." She glanced to the wall for a moment, remembering how she'd barely passed health. Most of the people she knew was surprised by that, since it was one of the easiest classes, but she'd found the whole thing rather dull. Personally, Lorina just spoke and acted open, and she wondered if that would be apart of having a 'healthy' social life. "Maybe I should take a class of your brother's." she mentioned, glancing over to Emile for a moment before looking back to Ciel. The subject of anthropology was bound to be more interesting than learning how to balance her diet and droll stuff like that. "I could always take you to the next party I go to~" she suggested, trying to recall if she had any such invitations pending at the moment. However, if the semester in full swing, she knew that most students, even herself, were attending less parties than they would when on vacation.
Bellatrix Solindo | Outfit
His comment drew a small nod, as she knew that adjusting took time. Acquiring a new style took time if one was one a limited fund, and most people in the world were. "Don't worry too much. Most everyone feels like you do." she told him, trying to give him less to worry about. From her experience as a student and from dealing with students, she knew that alot felt out of place, if not for one reason then for another. "May I ask where you're from?" She was curious, as his words made it clear that he wasn't apart of any tries that had gone completely modern with their dress.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 22, 2012 9:09 pm
Smiling faintly at Lorina's comment, a healthy social life didn't have much to do with being physically healthy, she chose instead to maintain an amused expression. Lorina seemed to zone out for a moment, and while the girl was quite curious as to why, she didn't ask. It could be anything, including something unpleasant, and since she didn't want to be rude or intrusive, she chose not to ask. Ciel perked up a bit at the idea of Lorina taking one of her brother's classes, knowing that her brother would take to Lorina rather well. "I think you'd like them. He's the type that gets bored rather easily, so his teaching method is quite interesting." she smiled, getting the vibe that Lorina was similar in this way. The mention of a party made her pause, and while her parents would find it to be a horrific idea, the teenager actually found it quite appealing. "I think I would like that. I've never actually been to a party before." her parents had always refused to let her go, and so her social life had slowly begun to suffer because of it. Emile, while very protective, also knew what it was like to grow up under his parents' eyes and he wasn't about to let his little suffer as he had.
Looking quite amused by this point, Solomon didn't argue. "Then maybe teaching isn't for me." he admitted, though his expression and tone showed he was merely joking. He generally was not the confident sort, but he was different in the classroom; in the art studio surrounded by easels and canvas and paint he felt different. Like he knew what he was doing. Confident, even. "But I've spent a fair amount of time with the drama teacher, so maybe I can try and fake it." this was a joke, as he wasn't that great of an actor, and also because he didn't think confidence was something that could be properly faked. He hoped Aurora wouldn't think less of him through this admittance, as he had been told that while women liked honest men, there was such a thing as being too honest. Still, his statements had been in jest, so hopefully she wouldn't take them too seriously.
Miguel smiled at the girl. He then reached his hand out to the girl. "Do you mind if we have a dance together?" He asked her. He didn't really hate the girl, he just had a lot on his mind. "That is if you want too. I think it's good for teammates to bond." He told explained.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Koran looked at the woman. Well she was also a type of elf so she probably understood. "Grimoires." The boy answered. He then corrected himself to what he said. "It's a town in the Veil located in Denmark." He added with a blush. His black cheeks turned red even.

Aurora Solindo | Outfit
Picking up on his amused expression, Aurora was glad for such when she heard his words. She'd hate to be the reason for discouraging a teacher from his job, so she was happy to see that he was merely joking. "Acting is hard." she mentioned, remembering the one class she'd attempted. Whenever she had to do something that remotely serious, she'd burst out laughing, or it was far too dramatized to the point of not being believeable. However, that she blamed on the novelas she prefered to watch. "But I believe you." she told him, her expression still upbeat and positive. Personally, she was enjoying talking o Solomon about things that didn't have to do with her sister, and in a relatively normal setting. Glancing to the floor and then back to him, a sly smile crossed her features as she told him, "I've been told that all teachers can dance, as well. Yet that is something I'm not certain about."

Lorina Jinn | Outfit
After being told more of the classes, Lorina made a mental note to see about taking one the following semester. Perhaps it would help her understand more about people in general, which in turn would help her with gaining fame. When one knew how other's behaved, then one could use that knowledge in positive way. When Ciel responded to the idea of a party without disagreement, Lorina smiled again. "Awsome! And don't worry, all you do is have fun." That was her opinion, since there was no rigid way to behave at a party. Once she was sure that there was no upcoming parties that she knew of, she added, "I'll let you know when the next one is, though it probably won't be until the winter break." Every proper student knew that studying and finals came first, and despite the lack fun she had in such work, the imp knew that her greater goal of being an actress began with a proper education.

Bellatrix Solindo | Outfit
Noticing the tinge of pink on his dark skin, she managed a small smile as she responded. "Ah, I have distant relatives there." They were on her mother's side, of course, and abstractly related; she hadn't bothered to contact them him years before her parent's death, so she wasn't completely sure as to how they were related. This made it so that she was sure that none would remember her, as she didn't remember them very well, either. Still, she at least knew where Koran came from, which allowed her to sympathize better with him. "I come from a small village near the Baliea mountains." she volunteered, feeling that it was only right to give him the same about of information.

Pleased that the girl hadn't immediately brushed off the classes, many people said they sounded boring, Ciel hoped that she could introduce her new friend to her brother sometime. At least, she thought of Lorina as her friend, though she didn't know if the other girl returned her sentiments.... More importantly, she really needed to stop worrying! The thought of just having fun was an attractive one, and so she nodded at the other girl's statement about the next one. "I look forward to it." she smiled, knowing she would be around for winter break. Her parents had actually agreed to come to the island for Christmas after hours of argument with Emile. Speaking of her brother, he would be rather pleased to hear that the party wouldn't interfere with her studies.

Nodding in agreement to her comment about acting, as it was certainly hard, he smiled at her second comment. It was a sweet thing to say, though he wasn't quite sure how to respond to it. Luckily for him, she continued on another train of thought. One brow raised slightly, his expression curious now. "Is that so?" he questioned, though he wasn't necessarily seeking an answer. While not a social ninja, Solo had gotten much better at reading social signals and he could guess at what she was hinting at. "Would you like to test this theory, perhaps?" he questioned, choosing to play a little coy for now. Because of the confidence issues they had just been speaking of, he would test the waters a bit before blatantly asking.

Looking at the hand offered, she set aside her pencil before taking it. "Don't you think your friend will be jealous?" her eyes shifted to the girl he had just left, curious as to what had transpired. She hadn't been able to hear the majority of their conversation, but she had a good idea. Asta stood from her seat, not worried about leaving her notebook at the table; she didn't think anyone there would have use of a notebook containing notes about social events and teenage interaction, especially when it was written in Norwegian. Asta would dance with the boy if that was what he wanted, but she would remain suspicious of him until given a reason otherwise. The reason he had given was a decent one, but she knew for a fact that at least one other person on the team was present; why approach her instead?
