On second thought, it seemed that the girl was going to be a threat, having finally decided to start attacking him, and after her second hit, he swung around and kicked, aiming for her ribs.
At least Krith had the wher under control for the moment, and he was starting to decide that he really, really disliked the creatures.
Laria gasped as she was kicked in the gut, doubling over briefly to regain the breath that was knocked out of her. Can't stop. Keep fighting. Bad things will happen if you stop. As she straightened up, she swung an uppercut at the rider, hoping to catch him by surprise.
Larisk snarled when the dragon got between him and his target again. He did not want to be kept from his bonded! Especially when the man hurt her! He roared at the rider and tried to charge past the dragon to attack the man. He would not let them hurt his bonded any more!
The dragon's eyes were whirling with anger, and if he had any firestone, he would be flaming that wher happily, his rider's approval or not. He moved just enough that the wher would run into him, and for this attack at least, would be unable to reach F'nell.

Brown Krith Hp: 43/60 Defending: 5 +2 = 7 Defense given: 7-7 = 0 damage for F'nell Dmg: 7 hp from Krith
It was a good thing Krith was there, he wouldn't have been able to block both her and her wher, but with the brown distracted, he was able to block the girl's punch, causing the damage to only be to his arm. That would be a temporary pain, certainly nothing like being threadscored, and something that he could ignore.
He was curious though, about where the girl had learned to fight. Was it a part of the wherhandler training?
Laria had no idea what she was doing, but she wouldn't admit that to herself. That would only distract her from doing whatever she was doing, which seemed to be working. Then she tried to throw another punch at the rider and missed. OK, maybe whatever she was doing wasn't working all the time.
They were keeping Larisk from his bonded! They should not do this! He tried to headbutt the dragon, to push the much larger creature out of the way. Naturally, this did not move his target any noticeable distance, causing Larisk to growl at the delay. He had to get back to her!
Okay, maybe not. Maybe the girl had just gotten lucky, and he aimed another kick at her. He wasn't the best unarmed fighter, but since his belt knife had recently broken and he hadn't replaced it yet, that was what he had to do.
"Why are you guys doing this?"
F'nell really wanted to know what the motives, the thoughts behind this were, and while he didn't think the girl looked like she was going to a high up conspirator, he was hoping that she might shed some light on things, It wasn't a very high hope, she had no reason to speak to him, but any chance was better than none.
Krith rumbled in amusement as the wher attempted to headbutt him. He could understand his desperation, his bonded, while not truly in danger, was where he couldn't protect him, and while he respected that, it still was amusing to the brown dragon.
Be nice.
If I must. He shook his head, and then slashed at the wher again. This was starting to get boring, and now he was ready to get serious.
Her knee began to buckle from the rider;s kick, but she managed to straighten up somehow. His question caught her off guard, though.
"Why are we...?" she started, bewildered. She didn't know what he meant by "this." Or by "you guys," for that matter. She didn't really know what was going on at all. "Why are you doing this?" she countered, before aiming a kick at him.
Larisk was briefly down by the powerful slash, but he scrambled right back to his feet. Stop it stop it stop it! Stop keeping Larisk from his bonded! Big-mean-dragon and bad-man were scaring her and hurting her and making her sad! He turned and snapped at the dragon to get it away from her, but he failed to connect.

Brown Larisk HP: 20/40 Attack: 3+2= 5 Accuracy:5 -5=0 (miss)
He rolled out of the way of her kick, his expression confused. "Oh, I don't know." he drawled. "Maybe it has to do with the attempted takeover of the weyr." -----------------------------------------------------------
Krith slashed again, quickly and silently. It would be best for the wher if he, Krith could finish the fight soon, before the smaller brown freaked out too much about his partner.
He hadn't ever thought that a wher could have as close of a relationship to their partner as this one did, and while that fact would not stop the fight, he certainly could respect this one.
Laria aimed another kick at the rider, but his words made her hesitate and miss her aim. "Takeover?" She paused and took an uncertain step back, blinking eyes that were wide with bewilderment.
