Suddenly, a massive segmented leg arched it's way up and around the buggy clinging on for a ride, mandibles snapping towards Simon with curious menace. Again, another animalistic noise escaped Jerry's throat as the cannon was swung around to rip through exoskeleton while just barely missing the Sun leader's head.

Jerry was a wreck of a man, but at least he seemed to know how to handle a bazooka.
He had always had mixed emotions about fireworks, the way they lit up the night with bright, colorful light was beautiful, but the sudden and brief shadows it cast had added to his anxiety unless he was watching from the safety of a well lit boardwalk.
He appreciated it now, though, the way the green light sent vast shadows along the clear pure dark sand, bursting through the massive glowing insects in a mixture of color, counterbalanced by the blue glow of their vehicle.

"And that's be you," BLAM, the buggy was showered with glowing insect innards, "Be what you're like," BLAM, they swerved again, but Jerry held on, moving to position himself better up on the seat, "Be like yourself..."

"And so I'm having a wonderful time, But I'd rather be whistling in the dark," Jerry was almost giggling as he blasted two more back. On the cart, it was like shooting fish in a barrel, more or less. Their massive glowing bodies were beacons in the darkness, shining like targets waiting to be blasted into a sparkling, glowing firework, "Whistling in the dark~"

And so it continued on as Jerry seemed to grow increasingly comfortable with the situation. So, the darkness was oppressing all around them, making it somewhat difficult to breath, so what? It was lit by these marvelous horrible bugs all around them and the worst thing he had to worry about was said glowing exoskeletons of light.
He picked a few more off around them, giggling further with every burst of glowing goo that rained around them before dissipating.

The little sand car swerved again, and Jerry's humming and giggling died out to a hiss as his blast only ripped through a small few this time. The numbers were thinning.

Suddenly, a pair of mandibles nabbed his ankle and Jerry gave a sudden yelp as the massive insect attempted to drag him down off of the dunebuggy. Roar was flipped, catching on the frame of the vehicle cross-ways as he clung for dear life with a yelp, kicking madly as Simon swerved once more, trying to shake it. Pain shot up his knee, his teeth gritting as he tried to kick it straight in a segmented eye.

The weapon slipped from the buggy's bars and it was all Jerry could do to hold onto the frame with one hand, swinging the weapon around to blast the creature off of him in a splatter of glowing guts. With a snarl he hauled himself back into the seat again, taking out his frustration on several more that bore down on them.

He was getting winded, wobbling faintly as he tried to blast back anything that got close. BLAME BLAME one two it was like a dance.

BLAM BLAM A dance he could deal with, the rhythm of the shots, the shining, glimmering starlight of bug guts, the dim flickering glow of Roar and the Buggy's runes... BLAM BLAM this was nice. It had been a while since he could just tear through swarms of things.

He was getting his swing back, and for a moment debated climbing onto the hood of the buggy for a better shot.
Judging by Simon's driving, though, that would probably be a bad idea. He made the best of his current position.

THERE AGAIN more bugs on the side of the vehicle. With a yelp, Jerry tried to shoot point blank, but the swerving made the shot miss, raking up into the sky with an echoing bark. He swung the barrel of the bazooka around, content to beat the two climbing on the side back to submission.

No sooner had he tried to beat the thing back, mandibles clamped down on his leg, and his arm, his weapon suddenly flying from his hand to rattle in the legspace of the passenger's seat as he clung to the frame for dear life, "S-SIMON, SIR! HELP!" He wailed frantically.
Simon did help, by pulling a rather inertia-filled doughnut to try to shake both the bugs (and possibly the trainee) free.

With a guttural scream, Jerry managed to twist around, nabbing his massive cannon with his free arm, aiming over and behind his shoulder at the two insects trying to eat him and pulling the trigger with a wince.
