It was becoming quickly obvious that their discussion was going nowhere good. Remarque couldn't understand Navi's seeming blind faith in their leader, and Navi had to bite her tongue to keep from snapping at the other senshi for his doubts. But they were teammates, and beyond that they were friends. Perhaps not as close as some, but being of the same small court, there was certainly something there. She Remarque say his fill, pale arms crossing across her stomach as she stared hard at the sidewalk under foot. When he was finished she let the quiet of the night seep around them for a moment as she took a long breath and let it out slowly, releasing irritation that had been boiling up. When she spoke she was calm again, and her eyes, as she looked up, were neutral. "I don't assume, I was there when Grant was awakened." A thoughtful frown slide along her lips as she recalled the event. "She didn't awaken him just because he was there, the cat said he sensed something inside him." The little frown grew. "I'm sure she does take everyone she can get, but not everyone has that little extra bit inside them that let's them.. wake up." She wasn't sure if that was the best way to word it, but after a second or two she gave a tiny nod and moved on. "If you have so many questions for you, why aren't you asking her?" Navi did everything she could to keep the question from becoming a challenge. She didn't want to bicker with Remarque, and she sure as hell couldn't speak for their queen. Whatever questions he had, they weren't her's to answer. "She's busy, but she's there for us when we need her. If you really needed to talk to her, I'm sure she'd take the time." Once again, the teen's faith in their leader was obvious. "I don't follow her blindly, not really, I just don't have questions." Pale shoulders rose in a small shrug.

Remarque was not one to back down from any sort of challenge, though either he didn't see this as a subject for debate, or he just found it amusing; he laughed. Not a spiteful laugh, but certainly one of amusement. "I'll ask her, Navi. When I need to. It's not just about having the answers, but knowing how she wants them executed. But, then again," he shrugged, "I suppose I've always been a bit too curious. Ares is lucky to have you, I think."
He gave Navi a look over, and then just flashed her a smile. They might have had different approaches, but they both fought steadfastly towards the same goal. Remarque had questions, that he considered in private, but never had he let them interfere with his actions. Everything he had ever done had been with the Court's best interest in mind. Remarque questions extended beyond more than just motives and practices—he wondered of the parallel world Ares had come from, wondered about her plans for the future, wondered about the White Moon of the past. "You follow without questions—of any sort? Just pure, unadulterated faith?" There was a slight bit of amusement behind the words, though he hardly seemed condescending. Curiosity was one of Remarque's unspoken downfalls, but it seemed he was trying to at least make an effort to understand the super senshi in front of him.
He might not reciprocate her beliefs, but as an ally, it was at least his responsibility to understand her.

She'd expected a little more retaliation, but when it didn't come the girl looked back, almost startled. Then she smiled when he mentioned their queen being lucky to have her. It was a great compliment, at least in Navi's mind. "Thank you." And just like that it seemed as though the tension that had been rising between them dissipated, and they were back to being two team mates simply talking shop. When he asked her if she followed without question the teen had to pause, mulling over it over carefully. She'd said she had no questions, but was that really the case? For the most part. She'd always done what her queen asked of her, never even thought to question those orders, but until now nothing she'd been asked to do had been personal. As they'd argued she'd gotten caught up in defending their queen, her most recent request slipping from her mind until now. After a moment she nodded, a serene sort of smile gliding along pale pink lips. She didn't like Ares' order to try to corrupt Chaonis, but she hadn't questioned it. Really, it made sense, the Senshi of Danger was formidable, she understood the reasons. "So far," she admitted, one freckled shoulder raising in half a shrug. Just because she didn't like an order didn't mean she didn't understand it. Ares was an excellent leader. A breeze swept along the park, stirring leaves and pulling at ginger curls. Autumn was coming, it was thick in the air. Drawing a deep breath, Navi lifted a delicate hand to tuck a curl back behind her ear. "What now?" Soft eyes flicked up to the blonde, brows arching gently in question.

The question, much as Remarque wasn't so thrilled to admit, caught him off guard. "What now?" he repeated—obviously rhetorical. "Suppose that depends on whatever plans you've got. We probably ought to catch up some time. Other than just idle chit-chat and banter. I don't think I ever really got to know you, Navi. Lesath talks fondly of you. Virtus, too."
It wasn't that he was uncomfortable leaving Lesath alone with people—hell, her getting out was a good thing. It gave him time to himself and other people without worrying if she was getting jealous. And Virtus? Well, he hardly counted at all—he probably only ever had nice things to say about people. "We'll have to get into detail sometime. If you've got other plans for the evening, I won't bother to take up your time, but in the future know that I certainly wouldn't mind further conversation."
If they were going to be a team—a family, like the others seemed to like to portray themselves—it certainly didn't do to go around not seeing or talking to each other. If Remarque had to go the extra mile to get better acquainted with his team mates—so be it. These were people he'd risk his life for—he'd like to at least know them enough to know that they were worth it.

Plans? Navi had to think on that a moment. She didn't have anything concrete formed, but there were things she hoped to do before it got to late. Places to check on, people to find. Important things, but not ones she was keen to share with anyone. She was in full agreement with idea of them spending some real time to actually catch up. It'd been a while now since she got to sit and chit chat with the members of her court, minus those she saw almost daily. "How about we set up a time to get coffee or go on patrol together." She paused, features going briefly thoughtful. "Or both, really. It's getting cold, so having a hot beverage while we wander around at night doesn't sound like a bad idea." "I think I have your number, or I can easily get it from Lesath. I'll call you this week, or you can call me?" She left it open, not wanting to make it seem like she was taking control or bossing him around. Lydia was a bit of a know-it-all, but she didn't like being known as bossy. She was about to say her goodbyes when an idea struck her. "Hey, if you happen upon any newbies that are being forced to give up their identities, I'm always free to talk, or lend a hand. Whatever they need. I know what it's like, after all." The was a small note of sadness to her voice, but she bounced back quick enough.

Remarque did not miss the note of sadness, perhaps because he had been expecting it. Navi's situation was not one he had taken lightly nor ever really forgotten, and while the situation was unfortunate, he figured that it had given her experience he did not have—and hopefully never would. Considering she and Quinn lived in the same place, he figured that, should any newbies be in their boat, that would be the best place to send them.
"I'll make sure to give you a ring if it happens," he promised, perhaps thankful that whatever newbies they had accumulated of late were not in a similar situation as she had been when she was first recruited. "And I'll take you up on that offer." How could he refuse coffee?
And catching up sounded like a good plan, particularly given the fact that he'd seen so few of the other members of the Court. It would be nice to get in touch with what of them he knew were still around. "You can get my number from Lesath when it's convenient for you. My schedule is flexible, so just shoot me a text or something when you know what works for you."
…He figured it best if Raven knew if he was making plans with anyone; he didn't want her to get suspicious and think he was having an affair or something.

The teen nodded, then grinned as he accepted her offer. Good, they needed a chance to really talk, not just about the court, but in general. She knew so little about most of the members of their new little family. It was definitely time to start remedying that. "Glad to hear it." "I'll likely give her a call tomorrow then." Her own schedule was pretty flexible too, so in all likelihood they could be meeting up the following evening for that coffee. It hadn't even crossed her mind that Raven would think anything about the meeting then what it was. There was a certain finality to the point their conversation had reached. They we're meeting in a day or two to talk, so there was no reason to hang around in the park at night any longer. "So I'll see you in a few days then?"

Remarque nodded. "Sounds like a plan. We'll figure things out later, and I'll see you then."
It was as simple as that—and because of that, he wondered why it was sometimes so hard to keep in contact with the rest of the court. A phone number, a loose plan—just something to know that they were all still working together and getting along. They were more than just allies on the battlefield; if he was going to risk his safety and wellbeing for these people, he'd like to at least know that they were worth it.
He offered a slight wave—nothing too personal—and half turned away from Navi and said in a light, mostly teasing voice, "Until then, take care. Don't get yourself into too much trouble between now and then."
Beejoux I am so sorry! I don't know what happened; I didn't even see that you'd posted until now! ;;
