"GAHH NO AH HATE GRANOLA." Generally Ofelia tried not to be a picky eater since picky eaters would end up starving, but there were a few things she couldn't stand. Granola, as mentioned, was one of them, and the teen tossed them back onto the shelf without so much as trying to put them back where they belonged. Screw the store, it was unlikely she'd ever be back here. "An' no, not free meals fer life, or whatever it was ya said. Ya piss me off or get'a girlfriend an' yer all on yer own. Ah dun cook for another lady's man, ya hear me?" It was. . .really hard to tell if Ofelia was being serious or not since she looked ridiculous chucking bags of granola onto random spots of shelving.
"Also unless yer plannin' on buyin' that cereal yerself put it back. Too much sugar in that stuff, yer gonna rot yer teeth out. Also yer like older than me an' that's kid stuff. Get some decent cereal for chrisssake." Oh god, Ofelia was totally a mom while in the food store. She personally didn't eat cereal, there was always something to be had like eggs or pancakes, and a bowl of grits every morning with a slice of cheese it in never went wrong for her. Speaking of grits, she grabbed a can and dropped it into the granola-free buggy. There was oatmeal too, pretty good to eat and good for energy, and Ofelia grabbed a box of that before grabbing some cornmeal muffin mix. Shopping was easy when you just grabbed stuff that sounded decent.

"Well maybe I AM gonna buy it myself.." Bix huffed a moment. "MOM. THANKS." He still kept hold of his precious Lucky Charms. "Nobody gets me Lucky Charms.." he muttered. "They are ******** delicious and i have lovely well taken care of teeth. No rotting out in this mouth." He watched her picking all .... healthy things. He was good with healthy but he was also a dorm kid. College dude. Can he add water to it and have a meal? Yes? He snagged an abandoned basket for himself since Ofie's taste in food was so different than his own. Cereal, fruit, another cereal (Count Chocula FTW). She was grabbing baking stuff and he mosied around the corner of the aisle to the chip/pretzel/dip/soda aisle. Yes. ALL OF IT.

"Ya call me mom again an' so help me Lord 'bove Ah will drop kick yer a** inta the ground. Also seriously, put the cereal back, or at least buy the off-brand stuff. Same taste, jus' cheaper by like a couple'a dollars." The teen was looking at some of the cereals, sure, but they just. . . seemed too processed to her. Baking things was fun, cooking things was fun. Anyone could get satisfaction out of a bag of cereal but it was also more fun to have something warm that you made with your own two hands.
Of course her warning might have fallen on deaf ears since Bix was already off getting something else to eat, and Ofelia sighed as she went about her way. The cold tile of the floor felt amazing on the bottom of her feet, she might swear to never wear shoes again, and she paused down the aisle that had different types of seasonings ansd other spices on it. There was just entirely too much she could take but her budget had to be limited.
It was funny, for as weird and out there and open as Ofelia could be certain things had her full attention, likely from how she was raised and how she survived.
Or it could be she was hording her money for something else entirely different. Like steak.
Oh god, steak.
Ofelia stood in front of the meat section, drooling. If Bix wanted to find her, she would be there.

Bix wandered back to her after about 10 minutes. His basket was full of ramen, soup bowls, bread, peanut butter and jelly. There was also some candy and he'd scoped out where they kept the beer so he could get some on the way out. Then he'd wandered because he thought he'd lost her. Turns out he couldn't find her because Ofie wasn't moving. She was staring into the meat case. "I'm gonna tell all the guys how you are jonesin for some BEEF." He made perverted humping motions.

Ofelia looked in time just to see Bix thrusting his hips at her, and her cheeks went from their tanned normal selves to a wonderful shade of pale mocha to burning red. It took less than five seconds, and her response to him amazingly took even less than that.
"Bix, when are ya finally jus' make good on all this flirtin' wit' me an' take me ta bed?"

"WHAT?!" Bix probably was too shocked by that. Bix had a curse.. which was flirtiness with girls who were friends, and complete awkward stuttering and blushing with girls he actually liked. "Listen.. I'm all about helping you get a man.. but this stag flies free." That didn't make sense. Stags didn't fly. And wasn't he all weird about Molly? "Free. Flying. Stag. Women just.. beating down my door. I CAN'T BE TIED DOWN." He was puffing his chest out like an idiot while he proclaimed his awesomeness. "Plus.. ladies gotta get me some dinner before they get into these pants."

"But don' Ah already feed ya?" Ofelia chuckled and motioned for Bix to come over and help her pick out meet, apparently too amused by her joke to do much else. "An' obviously Ah'm jus' shittin' wit' ya. Yer Molly's guy, ain' no changin' that even if the two'a ya are jus' waitin' or whatever it was ya said." Ofelia lifted a packet of ground hamburger, her eye checking the date and her hand properly testing the weight. "There's also the fact ya dun see me as a girl, or at least not really, an' the fact that Ah've long since gotten over mah one-sided crush on ya. S'all good though, s'all good."
The meat she was holding was set back down, not really to her standards. The weight on the sticker and the weight she felt was off, not to mention the date of expiration was too close and freezing it wasn't much of an option. Maybe it'd be best to look into stew meat, but it was hot and so stew wasn't much of an option either.
. . and the Ofelia realized that she just admitted to Bix that at a certain point in time she'd had a crush on him. Her face turned red again but oh god she was hoping he hadn't heard her say that.

"I see you as a girl.. Don't think that." Bix knew it was not nice to be considered 'the friend' or 'one of the girls/guys'. He bobbed his head back a bit surprised that she'd thought that of him. "You are just .. like.. way tougher than me." Bix shrugged. "But still a girl. With a nice rack." He nudged her while she handled the meat. Of course then she mentioned her crush and his face turned red. "You had a crush on me?!" He immediately began to mentally analyze everything they'd ever done and how he'd never thought of it further than friendship. Of course he'd pretty much seen her in all of her underwear at one point or other but in the dorms, seeing people almost naked was sort of a thing that happened. Had he been oblivious? Had she been overt ever? Is that why she'd been weird sometimes? Or was she just weird? "I didn't know.. and I was rambling all about Molly all the time. I need to stop doing that.. Sorry." But yeah.. she was.. just his friend!

"Whelp, glad ta know that." Ofelia turned and looked at Bix, a faint and sad smile tugging at her lips at how flustered he looked. While Ofelia was generally tactless and her ability to grasp a situation was subpar, she at least had an idea when someone was upset because of her words. The episode with Jordan had taught her that, and it had been a hard lesson to learn.
"No, yer fine. By the time ya mentioned ya liked Molly Ah made up mah mind that ya weren' the one fer me, that Ah didn' have'a chance, so. Yer always welcome ta talk 'bout her ta me all the time, Ah'm happy ta see yer happy. Plus," Ofelia had moved down a bit and was looking at chicken meat. Maybe she could fry some. "Plus, if it bothered me like ya seem ta think it is or was doin', Ah'd jus' avoid ya. Plain an' simple there. Also Ah ain' the type ta pine over a guy who jus' ain' lookin' mah way." She held up a package of thighs and breasts. "Do ya like fried or baked chicken more?"
It looked as though the subject was quickly changing, either because Ofelia didn't want to talk on it anymore or she wanted to get done shopping. Honestly it was a bit of both colums in a single set, and the teen looked down again at the meat before looking over once more. "An' ya dun need ta say sorry, Ah never showed mah feelin' nor did Ah even think ta do so. Ah only told ya 'bout it 'cause Ah want ya ta know yer a guy capable'a havin girls like ya. Think'a it as mah way of sayin' things will go okay wit' Molly."
Another honest fact? That wasn't why she said it at all - Ofelia really didn't even know why she said it to begin with. Certain things, like having a crush on someone who wouldn't turn your way? Those secrets were best taken to the grave.

Bix didn't really know how to respond. It was clear Ofie had thought of all this, worked it out already. Somehow he wondered if he'd hurt her feelings in some way in the past that was unintended. He really didn't know a way to say 'You're my friend' without it sounding.. well exactly like that. "Friend. Obviously fried!" Bix huffed, moving along the subjects since she wanted to. "I need some meat on my bones!" When the girl broke it down for him he just sort of smiled. "Well.. thanks I guess. I'm starting to think I am worrying too much about it. I mean girls in general. I need to find some other thing to make me happy. I spend my time pining away and I'll never get anywhere." He poked a piece of chicken through it's shrink wrap, watching it squish around. "I.. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings at all." The albino hunter rested his hand on Ofie's shoulder. "I really do think you are a good friend. I hang with you more than most people. I appreciate you for you. At least I'd like to think I do." It's really all he could say.

" . . .are we gonna be okay after what Ah said or are we gonna be awkward? Ah'd prefer less awkward, more sparrin' an' shoppin'. Plus Ah was kinda hopin' ya'd teach me ta read better in the future." Ofelia placed the chicken into her basket and grabbed some hamburger as well. She'd managed to amass some money, not to mention she was getting everything that was about to expire so it was going for cheap, and the teen grinned at her spread. There would be meals, so many meals. Maybe she should get some noodles - everyone liked spaghetti, right?
When Bix's hand came down on her shoulder she looked at him and her cheeks flushed, though the flush quickly faded as she gave him a wolfish grin and proceeded to punch him square in the stomach as what was meant to be a sign of affection.
Probably.
"A'course we're always gonna be good friends though, an' thank ya fer likin' me as Ah am. Ah know Ah'm kinda hard ta deal wit' but ******** the people who think that. Ah ain' changin' fer no man. . . or woman. Or whatever." Now where were the noodles?
