"You did say anyone else," Shun noted when she declined what he said. And as she thought, he didn't really consider what he had said particularly nice. It was just... that. Fact. As far as he was concerned. But it did make Hel amend her former statement.
"Who's to say you can't be that?"

“That I did.” She murmured, and rested her hands on her hips. She thought about Shun’s question and sighed. “…He said…he said I upset him just by being me…I can not…I can not change all of me, Shun.” The ghoul sighed. “…I really would…stop being me if I did that though…huh?” She paused and looked back at him.
“That…is like asking you to grin, though.”

"I can smile. I just don't have a reason to most of the time," Shun pointed out. Granted, his smile was a rather faint one. Some people might not really count that. But it was still a smile to him.
"It's possible to change some parts of yourself, however. If you must change everything about yourself, then it is better off that you two are not together," he said before setting himself down onto the ground since it didn't seem like they were going to be moving anytime soon.
"I know parts of myself have changed since meeting Mitsu.."

Really Shun, really? You were going with that? “…Heh.” Hel didn’t argue with him for the time being, and just looked more crestfallen at his statement. With a heavy sigh, Hel flopped down onto the ground next to him, her feet stretched out before her unceremoniously, and she leaned back on her hands.
At his next statement, the ghoul looked over at him, genuinely interested. Focusing on something else at the moment was most welcomed. “…Oh ya?” She murmured, waiting to hear more.

Shun nodded quietly. Yes. He was aware he had changed to an extent. Was it for the better? Possibly.
"I no longer train myself to the point of bleeding knuckles and passing out day after day for one," he pointed out. Well, he still could. Buuuuut...
"She doesn't like it when I do that."

Uh oh Shun. You shouldn’t have said that. Suddenly it all clicked for Hel.
Hey…
She was a free ghoul now. She could do whatever the Jack she wanted with no consequence from a worried significant other. That both saddening, frightening, and equally exhilarating.
“…Oh.” She murmured, and then fell silent for long while, sighing again. What more could she say about this? Nothing really. It was what it was…though she had a feeling she wasn’t going to be fine with it anytime soon. What better way to try and bury these emotions than with another topic…a demanding one. “…Ya know…” Hel started, trying to make her tone light, as if this wasn’t a big deal.
“…I have been slacking these past few months anyways…being caught up in things…now friend, it is time to put my nose back to the grindstone…I need to get better…I will add parkour training to my daily work out.” She looked over at the grim, trying to smile though falling short.

"I've also promised her to not just run off on my own to take care of serious business," he shrugged, "After all, I wouldn't exactly appreciate it if she did the same."
A hypocrite, he was not. Or at least Shun tried not to be. The Reaper raised an eyebrow at the Valkyrie was the topic went back to training.
"You hadn't been training lately?" he asked. That didn't quite sound right.

Ooh…good point, Shun…a very good point. It struck really close to home too. In fact it was a point that helped lead to her downfall she was sure.
“Oh…no…I have been…but not enough, I think.” Hel paused. “…I am going to train…even harder now!” You know Shun…to the point of exhaustion! That was what she wanted to do now…that and she needed to get better at parkour basics anyways.

Shun didn't look particularly impressed with Hel here.
"There's a reason for it you know. Did you enjoy Mot running headlong into danger without letting you know?" he said with a raised brow.

Hel huffed, staring at Shun.
“…No.” She muttered, looking back out over the water. “He did not enjoy it when I did it either.” She signed again. “…That was part of what…broke it…today.” The reaper picked up a nearby rock and flung it out into the water, breaking the pristine surface.

Letting out a breath, Shun shifted himself to sit a little more comfortably, bringing his knees up so that he could lightly rest his arms on top of them.
"Perhaps now is the time to think about these things. To strategize and figure out the battlefield," he murmured before looking into the water, "Running into a fight blindly is not wise. Nor is it wise to continue charging in when things aren't working."
Wait, was he talking about relationships or something else?

Hel stared at Shun.
Her brows furrowed as she tried to figure out what he was talking about exactly. Was he talking about relationships or…training and battling? “Uh…” Should she even bother asking him to clarify or…just accept it as applicable to everything? Yeah…that seemed good. “…Ya.” She replied.
Hel was silent for a moment.
“…Shun.”
She couldn’t go with it.
“What the ******** is the battlefield?”

Shun didn't stare back at her and continued to look into the water. It almost seemed like he wasn't going to answer her question and leave her to figure it out herself.
"It's your choice if you want to fight for it, or simply let it be. Should you choose to, you can't just run in headlong without a plan."
Or maybe he won't explain himself at all.

Hel kept on staring at Shun.
“…Jack damn it, Shun!” Hel cried. “This is not a kung-fu movie! You can not sit there and tell me cryptic things and expect me to get it.” Hel was impatient. She wanted to know all the things now.

It was tempting to just get up and walk away. So very tempting.
"This thing called love. Don't you think dealing with it is not too unlike training or battling?"
