Oke waited patiently for Garret to try and locate teh water - she'd meant that he should lead them there with her request but really with a stallion like Garret she supposed she should just be happy that he was helping at all.
She beamed at the foal when she said thank-you and turned her attention to Garret - clearly expecting him to say 'your welcome' . "Yes thank you for your help Garret...I suppose, if your willing to leave a mare and a foal alone in the woods we can manage to get along just fine on our own from here" Oke told him in a clear effort to guilt him into doing the right thing.

'Thank you were not words he ever thought he would hear. Never even thought he'd like it if he heard it. He was a a mischief make, an Imp, not some nice help all Putti. But just those two words and he felt like they were praising how amazing he is. It was an awesome boost to his ego. So with a smug grin he nodded at the small child. "You do good to thank me. I'll go an' bring you home." He had decided as he was thanked for the first and second time that he would help the little wimp. If these two thanked him for something he never really wanted to do, how would he be thanked when he brought this little twerp back home to her mommy, and pappy? Maybe he'd received gifts as thanks. Or just more praise, what ever it was it seemed worth helping her out for. And in his good mood he didn't even hear the guilt tripping in Oke's words. So he just smiled at her expecting some praise at his next words, "I wont leave you two alone, I'll come with. I can get ride of anything that comes out to attack." He said with a grin and a puff in his chest even though he knew he'd run at the first sign of trouble.

Poe was starting to think that maybe her mother was right after all - and that those who seemed scary at first might be a little less so when they were shown some appreciation and respect. She wasn't quite sure yet if this stallion had really turned over a new leaf since the mare had arrived but she was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as long as he was talking about taking her home.
One thing was for sure she would never, ever wander this far away from home again! Of course some of the things he said were a bit worrying "Will..will there be things that attack? Is it dangerous here?" She asked in a small quiet voice..oh my it was bad enough that she had wandered off and gotten lost but had she also somehow wandered into a dangerous area?

"I'm very glad to hear that, it makes me very relieved to know you'll be along" Oke replied to Garret in a sugar sweet voice after she observed the way a little bit of praise seemed to manipulate him into doing the right thing. "Why don't you lead the way so that you can keep a watch out for potential problems?" She suggested in a tone which indicated she didn't think she as a mare would be able to handle such a thing - which was rubbish, complete and utter rubbish but if it got Garret to cooperate then she was willing to put up with it.
When the foal expressed some worry Oke lowered her head and nudged her lightly "Oh no dear, I"m sure we'll be fine with Garret leading us" She assured the foal.

Oke's words did just what she wanted them to do. Garrets ego was as big as ever and was putty in Oke's hooves. So at the hint that he was the strong man of the situation made him puff up his chest and cemented the fact that he would stay with the small group till they found there way to Poe's home. "Of course I will. Seeing as I'm the only male here it's only right I lead you girls to safety." He said completely forgetting his previous goal of tormenting the poor foal.
At the foals sign of distress he turned and grinned at her way to smug and said with an air of over confidence, "Don't worry pipsqueak I'll shock anything that comes out. I'm strong!" while complimenting himself he almost sounded like a young colt who just got his first compliment. And with his chest puffed out and full of confidence he trotted in front of the two girls and toward the sound of water.

Poe still wasn't entirely convinced but certainly following the stallion back home was better then trying to get there herself and the mare was here to help too - so nothing bad could happen right? In any case she gave one last look at the mare before mincing after Garret with nervous steps.
Of course despite her fear she was still a foal..and had a foals curiosity, when the stallion said he would shock anything that jumped out at them she was curious and couldn't help but attempt to work up the courage to ask "How..how are you going to shock them?" as she walked in between the two adults and watched the bushes around them nervously. skittering this way and that with every strange noise she heard, tail and ears twitching almost constantly. She was pretty sure at least that they were heading in the right direction - well mostly sure, at the very least it seemed familiar. Then again most of the woods around her home looked fairly similar to one another

Oke trailed along behind the other two - acting as a sort of rear guard although she was pretty sure that this part of the woods was fairly safe. In fact she was spending more time looking out for the herbs she had originally come out to get then any possible danger in the woods. Since Garret seemed to be behaving and even enjoying the ego boost helping someone was giving him she was willing to let him play the leader.
Maybe..just maybe this experience would make him realize how good helping others could make you feel instead of tormenting them all the time. It was a long shot really - odds were that he would turn back to his previous ways as soon as the praise stopped, but for the moment well...she would take what she could get. Hearing the foals question she pricked her ears to see how the stallion would answer and to prompt him she stated "Oh, Garret I'm sure would love to tell you about his powers" The group was nearing the stream now and she was rather hoping that the foal would pipe up and say weather or not the area was familiar.

Yes Garret was having fun playing nice with these two. But it wouldn't translate over to anyone else. It wasn't in his nature to help, he was born an Imp and would die one happily. Though with these two it made him happier to be nice so when they're around he'll try to play it up. Like his answer towards the small girl over his sparks. If he was acting how he normally was he'd cruelly shock her to show what they were. But he was being nice so instead he tried to explain them best to someone who lived in a world he was told extensively by the elders was different then his. "I will use the natural current in my body and hit my opponent to paralyze them for days." He said purposely exaggerating to the small mare. To see if she'd believe him and maybe even show a face of awe. forgetting that Oke was right behind him and would hear the lie, and probably tell the girl as such.
When the group reached the flowing water he turned to the foal and asked i what he was hoping was a nice voice, but ended up sounding more demanding. "Now tell us witch way to your home child. Or does none of this look familiar." He said looking down at her with a slightly oppressive look that was supposed to be a reassuring smile..((Sorry I took so long))

"Wow...really?" Poe asked the stallion her voice dripping with awe , forgetting for a few moments that she was somewhat frightened of him in her amazement of this apparent ability to render someone paralyzed for days - why if she had that ability she wouldn't have to worry about anyone hurting her ever again! Not that anyone actually had hurt her before - but it would be nice not to be worried about the possibility in the future now wouldn't it?
Of course once they reached the water and he rounded on her with a demanding tone and that somewhat creepy smile on his face she gulped and took a few steps back, huddling somewhat as she dutifully looked around for something familiar. "I...I think that stump there looks familiar" She told the stallion after a few minutes of silence, motioning with one of her tentacles towards the rotten stump a ways down stream. She was pretty sure that was the stump her sister Lapin had almost fallen into the stream standing on once.

Oke rolled her eyes slightly at Garrets boasting - for days? Really? That was hardly true..if anything she was pretty sure all his shock would do would be tick off whatever came after them even more - if he even stood around long enough to try shocking it. Oke was betting ten to one that the stallion would flee at the first sign of real trouble.
Still the foal seemed to be soaking it all in and Garret was trying to be nice so she decided to let the exaggeration go for now. "Well then I expect we should head in that direction" She answered when the foal indicated that the stump looked familiar. "Surely it can't me much farther if she is seeing things she knows..foals generally don't wander all that far from home" She assured Garret.

Garret turned away from the foal as she light up with awe. Success! He thought to him self with a large stupid grin on his face. Heh I've never been looked at with awe before. None of the kids in my tribe were so gullible. I wonder what else I can make her believe? He turned back to her his funky grin still plastered to his face. "Yes really. And if I concentrate long enough I can make it so his skeleton appears!" Ha like that could really happen. I mean really who'd believe that? He did hope she would though. Her admiring face made him happy and he'd like it if she kept it. He was glad Oke decided to keep her trap shut. If she had spilt the beans chances are the little tyke wouldn't trust his lies again. That would be dull.
And there went the awed expression. Did he do something wrong? Maybe he didn't ask nice enough or maybe his smile was off. Maybe he should try and do it better next time. He didn't want to loose this small bit of respect he got from her. So in an attempt to make her look at him and not shrink away he tie harder to be nice. "You sure that's right pip-squeak?" And of course he again came off like a bully out for her lunch money. "Yeah lets go. You might find even more familiar things like Oke says girl." He looked up at Oke with the same failed attempt at a nice face. "Good this rugrat should be home soon th'n."

This stallion was so confusing - one second he was telling her something nice and interesting and great..the next he was acting like he was about to beat her up or make fun of her. Were all stallions outside of her herd so hard to figure out? Oke didn't seem all that phased by the stallions behavior..maybe it was normal. If that was the case...well..it just cemented the fact that she never wanted to leave home when she got older. Nope she'd be perfectly happy living out her days in the secure little alpine meadow her grandfather kept safe for them.
"The whole skeleton?" Lapin had shown her a skeleton once - it had been kind of creepy, with bits of skin still stuck to it. Well she certainly didn't want him to make her skeleton show but she supposed it was a good talent to have if any bad guys showed up. "I bet that makes bad guys run away for sure!" She told him, trying really hard not to cower in the face of his rather aggressive tone and demeanor. Trotting down the trail with her escorts - and she still made sure to stay closer to Oke then Garret - despite her growing awe of him. He was awesome..but still scary.
"Look! look there's the tree that fell over in the last storm and that clearing up ahead.. that's where I live!" She suddenly called out gleefully.

Oh brother...really? She cast Garret a bit of a look as he went on about making Skeletons show. That taking it a bit to far...but the foal seemed to think it was interesting and well, she didn't really think there was much harm in letting her think it for now. I mean she'd out grow it and realize it had just been a story when she got older right? Like Santa Hoof.
Still she was relieved when the foal excitedly began to point out things she knew and then the clearing that she lived in. Garret was being nice but who knew how long that would really last for..seemed like a good idea to finish this off before he decided to get nasty again."Great! I"m sure your parents will be looking for you! They'll likely be more grateful that you came home safe"

As he was so distracted by himself and his boasting Garret didn't see Oke's look. He was just so amazed how easy and fun it was to trick foals into awe. It made him wonder why he had been so against meeting foals in the first place. This encounter gave him the idea that fathering some children might be a very interesting idea. And in this slightly new mindset his unconsciously mean face relaxed into a slightly, very slightly, nicer face. He responded to her statement in a prideful voice and smile, "Yup the whole skeleton. The bad guys don't stand a chance against my fearsome prowess. Right Oke?" Finally addressing the mare daring her to refute him and crashing the foals hopes with a single look.
When the foal started pointing out familiar land marks Garret started feeling a small mix of feelings. He was happy that he'd be able to go back to wandering on his own. But he also felt a little sad to leave the foal that showed him so much awe so soon. Still he was sure that if he wanted to keep the foals respect he should act happy that she found her home. But Garret didn't do 'happy' at least not often enough to fake it well. So he gave this sorta smile and a mocking laugh and said, "Oh how nice for you foal. Being able to go back to your mummy."

Poe was so excited and happy to be home that she knew without a doubt that the strange stallion wasn't nearly as mean as he made himself out to be. Instead of finding his words mocking she chalked them up as sincere and pranced over to him, pressing her tiny foal head against his neck and whispering a sincere and slightly awestruck "Thank you!, Your my hero!" Before stepping back and beaming at the nice mare "Thank you too!" She told the mare before turning and running - carefully in case she tripped - back towards the clearing and her home. Her mother was going to be furious that she had been gone for so long..and worried too..but she could just tell her about the nice - if slightly intimidating - stallion that had found her and brought her home.
