The zubat slammed into him, and Mephistopheles went reeling. But because he was so close, Mephistopheles sent a single blast of darkness after the zubat as he fell. His aim was off, however, and he shot air, slamming into the merry-go-round.

Zyk relentlessly followed the duskull down to the merry-go-round and resorted to one of his favorite attacks, Bite. He wasn't really sure where to clamp his sharp fangs down on, but seeing as he was barely awake he wouldn't have had much aim anyway. So he lunged as best he could at the insubstantial ghost.
Zinnia bit her lip tensely, her hand already on Zyk's pokeball, ready to call him back as soon as he fainted or gave in.

The zubat bit down on Mephistopheles' arm, and the duskull raised his other arm with the express purpose of hitting his opponent point blank. His senses were still addled however, so it was a risk. A risk that would be ill-advised, the darkness blasting Mephistopheles in the arm.

Zyk decided to take advantage of their close contact and, since it had worked before, tried to bite Mephistopheles again.
Zinnia's eyes popped wide open as the attack landed and Zyk rose back up in flight, victorious. He certainly was a determined little bat! "You did so well!" she exclaimed, holding out her arm for him to land on. She petted his tired head and smothered him with praise, the rest of the world temporarily forgotten. Her little Zyk had done it!

Mephistopheles regained his senses realtiely quickly afterward. He flew up to the zubat and his trainer, and afforded them a bow. To the zubat, he added, "You fought valiantly. It was an honor." He flew over to Lenore, who smiled and waved at the zubat and it's trainer. After that, the two turned and left.
