Dammit, Eva.

Otto cast a glare at the dark haired girl. He just knew it. She would try and give him an entire wardrobe of just suits. Figures. "Normal people don't wear suits 24 hours. Specially not in a damn battle prone facility like Deus."

Her admittance left Otto with a blank expression. She lost a lot too, it seemed. Most of the things he got for her were gone too. The small blonde kicked at the ground a bit, then dumped what he'd grabbed in her basket. "Pay fer those. I'll be back later."

He then ran off.

Twenty Minutes later, Eva received a text.

Quote:
In Food Court outside Burger King. Get over here.

Charming and oh so polite. When Eva arrived, she would see a very large bag on a table, as well as Otto sitting with two trays of food. He beckoned her over with a fry in his hand.

Otto had a point--a point that Eva was not about to argue--but that didn't change the fact that the girl simply liked suits, okay? So much so, in fact, that if she had been the leader of Deus Ex, she would have made suits mandatory for all the male Hunters.

...Good thing she was nowhere near that level of authority.

She perked up in surprise when the boy suddenly dropped all of his newfound clothing into her basket, and she couldn't even get a protest out before he zoomed off to...god knows where. Eva stared after him blankly for a good second or two before shrugging and cheerfully turning back to continue her shopping. Maybe Otto had wanted to get some private things while he was out and didn't want her to see. She wasn't going to pry (for once).

The text arrived just as the girl made her way out of the store, the bags of clothing dangling from each of her arms. She sent back a quick reply--a simple "Okay!" as confirmation. Guess he picked up what he needed! Now, the food court is...

After a bit of trouble, Eva finally found herself at the designated meeting place. Grinning, she jogged over to Otto and set down her bags on one of the empty chairs. She took in the food with a curious tilt of her head--oh...haha, right, lunch! Oops!--before her gaze slide towards the large bag sitting atop the table. "Done with all your private shopping?"

"Private shopping? Don't be dumb. This is for you." He waved a hand dismissivly, focusing on the burger in his hands instead. "Cause yaknow.. you lost s**t and bought me stuff so... Whatever."

The bag contained... stuffed animals. Again? There had to have been ten or fifteen of them. Well. Not just stuffed animals. At the bottom was a small box with hair clips. "They kinda remind me of your hair loopy thing. I dunno. Whatever."

Another large bite of his burger.

...Oh.

Eva stared blankly at the bag of stuffed animals, slowly sinking into her seat as she pulled them out, one by one. These...were for her? All of them? ...Was this why Otto had run off like that? As she pulled out each of the toys, she turned them around carefully so that she could look them over before setting them into her lap. Once she got to the box containing the clips, she stared at them blankly for a moment before a wide grin spread over her face. In a rush, she put everything back into the bag, stood up, and promptly moved around the table to give the blond boy a huge hug.

"You're the best, Otto," She informed him as she squished her cheek against his, "You don't know how sad I was to lose all of my plushies from you, so...thank you for all of these!"

A few more seconds passed before she finally let go of him, moving back and plopping herself down into her seat. She was smiling as she dug into the bag for the hairclips again, removing them from the box and pinning back her hair. "Haha, how do I look? I hope all of these things didn't cost you too much." The last part was tacked on with just a tinge of worry.

Oh no. She was going to hug him.

Otto didn't even set down his burger, his shoulders hunching as Eva went in for the kill hug. The patented cheek squishing that was so very Eva-esque was included, garnering a look of disgruntlement from the pouting teen. He acted like he didn't like it, but he probably did. Deep down.

And a small part of him was glad she liked both batches of gifts.

He relaxed as she went back to her seat, and resumed eating his lunch. The clips looked nice, as he figured they might. "Don't worry bout it." Otto answered, polishing off the burger and taking a long sip from his drink.

Eva would find that all tags and receipts were missing, the bag was a tote bag bought somewhere else, the original store shopping bag gone. No way to tell how much he had spent. No way to tell where he bought it.

Maybe all that time as a Death trainee was paying off in the sneak and stealth department.

For a moment, he almost seemed pleased with himself as he drank his cola.

Though Eva had been a little surprised at the gift, when she thought about it, it really wasn't all that unusual. After all, Otto had proven to be really quite sweet beneath that grumpy exterior of his. With that thought in mind, it took Eva all of her willpower not to get right back up and squish her cheek against his again. He really was the best puppy.

She reached out to grab a fry, nibbling at it thoughtfully as she stared at the bags of clothing she had purchased. Well, she had gotten almost everything she had come out to buy--except for maybe some snacks and things to bring home and share--which left her with a decent amount of money to splurge on. Otto had already bought her a ton of plushies--Eva's guilty love, to be sure--but now what about him?

...Hmmm.

"Okay, so!" She piped up suddenly, grinning, "I actually spent less money than I thought I'd have to for the clothes. So, what I want to do is wander around and find something nice to buy for you, okay? As repayment for..." Well. The girl glanced pointedly at the bag of plushies, and then turned back to him with a grin.

"Got anything in mind?"

Otto sipped at his drink as Eva started talking again, his brow slowly raising upward. "Are you kiddin'? I got ya those to pay ya back.." This was like a never ending cycle of giving! Ugh! The boy huffed and sipped some more from the straw, blue eyes staring at Eva like she was plain nuts.

"Aight, whatever." If she wanted to buy him things he'd just have to let her. Maybe he'd find a way to get her back again. "Um.... how 'bout some new earrings?" Most didn't know he even had pierced ears, seeing as his hats and hair hid most of his face half the time.

Despite having known Otto ever since she woke up in Deus Ex, Eva was clearly one of those people who were unaware of the fact that Otto wore earrings. His suggestion earned a blank stare as Eva suddenly pushed her chair back and stood up. As per usual, she did not hesitate to invade his personal space, stepping to his side and promptly pushing his hair back on either side to reveal his ears.

"...Geeeez, Puppy! If I had known sooner...!" She drew her hands back, but only so that she could prop them up on her hips. "Well, better now than never! That sounds good with me--why don't we finish up here and go pick out something cool for you?"

She stole the boy's hat then, but only so that she could give his hair an affectionate ruffle before plopping the hat back onto his head. "I promise I'll let you pick what you want and that I won't try to get you anything girly," Eva added which, considering that it was Eva, was really a rather rare and considerate gesture.

Otto blinked as she stood up suddenly, eyes following as she moved right into his personal space. He kind of saw this coming though, and simply moved his head for her as she inspected his ears for the 5 piercings he had. Maybe he was just getting used to his personal space getting invaded. It was Eva, so he really didn't mind.

"Sounds good." He mused, slurping the last of his drink just as she took his hat. He made a sound of protest, squinting at her as she ruffled his hair. "You honestly think I'd have let ya pick out some pansy pink earrings?" He said accusingly as he readjusted the hat to his liking.

"Wait why would you pick something girly? That ain't cool." He suddenly asked, tossing the garbage in the trash and picking up some of the bags.

Eva simply laughed, lifting and dropping her shoulders in a vague shrug. "My taste in stuff is just completely different from yours, you know?" As if that wasn't already clear by the dress shirts and fancy clothes she had tried to get him, "I'm just saying that, for once, I won't try to interfere in what you should get!" It was a rare opportunity, and one that Otto should definitely take.

And so, true to her word, Eva was on her best behavior when the two of them head off to buy earrings. Or, well, she hovered over a few pairs of earrings in particular, not-so-subtly looking between them and Otto, but she never voiced her suggestions aloud. In the end, she was content to buy whatever it was the blond boy had picked out for himself.

Once that was done, it was time to head back. Before parting ways, the girl stooped down to sort all of Otto's clothing into one bag for him, holding it out for him to take. With a grin and a big hug, she wished him a good night and walked off.

If Otto were to take all of those objects out of the bag, he would find something hidden at the very bottom: a skirt, and a sticky note with a heart scrawled on it. By that point, however, it was likely that Eva was already long gone.
