Why would she...? Again the concept of fashion baffled her. West's choice in attire; what did it have to do with her own? Would it? Tilting her head slightly, questioning him, Levi searched his face for an answer. He was holding a thought or two back. She could tell he withheld things but couldn't pinpoint just what. Lookin' fer my opinion?
An honest and downright despairing cackle followed. If 'were up ta'me, boil, I'd have ya dressed in whatever ya'll could wrestle's good. Essentially, the tatzel's interest was largely in West's movements and how best he could challenge her. Like their training in the woods, She'd have him remove whatever was a hindrance on performance like his boots.
She didn't ever just stare at him sometimes just to see him. Nope. No interest in doing this whatsoever. She was not doing so right now as he smirked at her in just the right way for her.
Anywho, Levi glanced down the way West directed them in, ya'been 'ere lots? Git all'a yer things 'ere? It was an idle question; what Levi still mulled over was why West would need to know what she was getting in order to get anything. Price?
Her expression got just a bit more serious. Yer folks're alright with'ya buyin' things. It was part question and part affirmation. I'mean- seen demon dorm n' all. Demon dorm was no monster dorm. The ornate side tables alone in the hallways were worlds away from anything she'd have back home; it was like they were never used.
Was he only going to buy something once he knew how much he'd spent on her? The tatzel had no intention of calling the deal off. West did what he did and, like teaching a scarling a lesson, Levi would follow through properly. Only- perhaps she need not search out the most expensive dress in the market or anything. The tatzel would watch her pricing in relation to her last dress; fair was fair. Breathing in a sigh of relief at having a sort of plan of action to resolve any issues west might have with silver, Levi's tail swayed behind the wrath demon. She fought the urge to flicker at him with all her might. It was working so long as she kept thinking about it; wasn't hard to do. She was so close but- public. Part of her mind soley focus on ways to make contact with him accidentally/briefly.
Contact... that sounds so familiar. Levi shook her head a bit, nearly walking into a pole by the sidewalk in her over thinking. Erk- hahaha~ darn things. With her words, that tail came around, smacking into the pole with as much force as she could release unto it. Relief of tension?
There might have been the sound of wood and concrete cracking behind them as they walked on.

"Mmm hmm," he said with a nod. "What I get'd depend on you an' I'd want yer opinion too. Both." Content to leave things vague for now, that was all West said on the matter, even after her wrestling comment. He could dress for wrestling some other time. Prom was one of the few places he wouldn't be looking for altercations. Prom was the place for awkward conversation and finger foods. Besides, even if he did happen to find himself brawling over the right way to hold his drink or the DJ's music choices, the boil prided himself on being able to fight in anything, even a tux if she so chose.
"Not all m'things," he continued, his attention on the path ahead. "A lotta my stuff is..." West trailed off when she mentioned money. Hm. It was true that his parents were okay with him spending fairly large amounts of silver on himself, for the most part, but if they knew who he was spending it on this time... West didn't think they would be mad exactly, but they certainly wouldn't make their knowledge of that fact pleasant for him. No. He would never live it down.
Finally, he nodded again, more slowly this time. "Yeah. They'll be okay with it." He looked at her, narrowing his eyes slightly as if he was trying to see inside her head. Why was she asking? If she tried to buy something cheap over something she liked just because he might get in trouble, he would—
He barely had time to think about how he would retaliate before she had nearly walked into a pole. West grinned, his reaction spreading across his face before he could reign it in. He shouldn't be laughing at her, but what the Jack, Levi? "Y'okay, there?" he asked, snickering. The pole wasn't. She clearly made sure of that. "Should I carry ya? Awful wobbly fer such a fine dancer." He faced forward again, his smile directed toward the building coming up in the distance.

The slow nod didn't quite comfort her despite his words. If she had any say at all, the tatzel would check all the prices on this as she tried them on just to be safe. Her tail resumed its place, looming behind West as they walked like an arm that never fully made it around his shoulders.
West's laugh gave her chills but the reason why he laughed is what made her tail finally take action with him. M'fine! The white tendril, more gently than she'd done with the pole, whipped like a wet towel against West's much lower back. Biting her lip to keep from cackling loudly out on the street, Levi gave West a look indicating her confusion, disapproval and humor over his offer. The tatzel ghoul had a mind right now to actually take West up on it.
Just to see what he'd do.
He wants to carry me because I'm weak? Hmph- what a smart mouth. Yea? Okay. Carry me, West. Levi stopped in her tracks, doing her absolute best to keep a stern expression now. If yer offerin' ta' do it, I'll let ya. If'it's what'cha want. That was one way to sidestep the dancer commentary.

He really hadn't seen that coming. West yelped and hopped up on one foot, bringing his hands up to his... lower back... before realizing that it probably wasn't a very good idea to go patting that in public. "Ha heh heh ha ho ha heh," he chuckled nervously, shaking his finger at Levi and circling her, his eyes still wide with surprise. "That was... sneaky." And so many other things he couldn't say out loud. West's gaze darted left and right to make sure they were alone before he stopped moving entirely, forcing his hands to relax and fall back to his sides. Now she just wasn't playing fair. But if she wanted tricksy, he'd give her tricksy. He'd reach right down her shirt and take his jackdamned credit card this time... um. West swallowed. "So. C'mon." Two could play at this game. He gestured over his shoulder with a thumb. "Get on then. Piggyback." He chuckled again, but it was mostly air. It wasn't like she'd never been on his back before.

Oh, she saw what he did thar. Or rather, Levi was feeling something sly coming out of West and she wanted to push it as far as he'd go before becoming a typical boil on her. Boils. Don't know what'cha mean. Me? Sneaky? Lil'ol'me? She pointed to herself in such a way, faking innocence once again, tail curling behind her as she faced West. She shrugged like it didn't mean anything in the slightest to her to get on his back in the middle of the sidewalk. It did. But fine. I'll do it. Don't think'I wouldn't do it. Cuz yer offerin' n' all.Casually striding over to the wrath demon's back as indicated, the tatzel's tail allowed for her to rise and place her arms over West's shoulders with ease. She stayed like this for a moment, glancing around a bit nervously (he couldn't see her right now, so all the visual defenses were down) before allowing her knees to come up at his sides. Are ya, gonna grab mere not? She could handle it physically... it wasn't like she'd never been on him like this before during their fights. However, the circumstances were somehow different now. Her chest was beating like something alive got stuck in there and was trying to get out by brute force.

"Hmph," West grunted, shaking his head knowingly. He didn't like to think about it too long, but these days he was finding it easier and easier to maybe, possibly, slightly believe most of Levi's innocence wasn't feigned. Still, when discussing her sneakiness, any modesty on the ghoul's part was a blatant lie.
"I said y'could, didn' I?" He was so sure she was going to back down that he could almost taste his victory, so when she actually moved behind him and slung her arms over his shoulders, West froze. Actually, it was more of an uncontrolled tensing than an all out freeze, and it didn't last long, but the impulse to buck her off remained even after he could move again. They were in public. This had gone too far for public. What if someone he knew walked past? Had he been more calm, West might have felt her beating heart against his back, but his own was thudding so mightily in his chest that it was a wonder he hadn't passed out.
He didn't respond verbally, instead he reached behind his back and hooked his hands, then forearms, up under the backs of her knees. His fingers didn't linger on her thighs inappropriately—okay, fine, they did a little—but he did grumble, "Y'only get a block," before he started to walk. West was kind of glad she couldn't see him. He might have been nervous, but his grin was clearly not a product of that feeling. No, it looked like he was kidnapping her or he had just won all the clothes or she owed him a sandwich.

Confident that he had her held, Levi's tail rose again behind her, putting her full weight onto West's hands. Was she embarrassed? Jack, yes. But the ghoul was merely waiting out West's inevitable crack.
There might've been a brief curiosity in the way fingers seemed to squeeze at her thighs, but Levi dismissed the thoughts for any and all active bodies along the sideways of either side of the street. Any forms pointing fingers were getting a tail to the face, the ghoul would swear on her Gramp's grave. One block? Weeeelp. If that's all yer doin', it's fine by me. Guess yew ain't got'as much lift in them arms without yer wings, aye? Levi was purely antagonizing him in what she considered to be a playful way. She knew he was strong enough to handle carrying her on his back with or without wings.
Levi just couldn't help herself for some reason. Touch was a sense best understood through dancing, spars and combat. Right now, all it did was make her want to get in closer. Head off to one side over West's shoulder, the tatzel whispered something to guarantee only West would hear. kekeke~ giddy up, boil. Show'me yer'as sharp'a ride as ya'think. She was no weak or ghoulie princess dancer- but she did want to say "giddy up" with some rather giggly cackling.
Staring over the strip down the road, Levi pointed up ahead. Down that'a way?

West roughly and deliberately bounced Levi in his arms, shaking his head at her jab. "I could carry ya fer miles. But I won't be yer..."
The boil's voice and concentration suddenly slipped away when she leaned closer and whispered in his ear. At first, he didn't even hear what she had said, so consumed was he by the tickle of her breath as it ghosted past. He coughed. He coughed quite a bit, actually, his mouth closed around the spastic bursts as he tried to make his fit seem like less of one. At least choking on nothing had managed to suppress his goosebumps through sheer shock, if nothing else.
"I'm a fine ri—" he began once the coughs had ceased, his voice hoarse. Sadly, the rest of his thought was cut off as West realized just how questionable it sounded at roughly the same time that he noticed someone approaching. He veered off of the sidewalk and into the trees, lowering Levi back to the ground and peering out of their cover as a little old zombie toddled past. Eventually.
He turned to his ghoulfriend, a slightly sheepish look on his face. "I thought..." He frowned. "Never mind what I thought." West looked off in the direction Levi had pointed, nodding sharply and holding out his arms to one side, like a well paid butler. He chose not to mention their kind-of bet or the fact that he had only carried her for about three-quarters of a block. "Yeah, thassit. After you." Even with their detour into the bushes, they were still only a short way from one of the maul's main entrances.

He'd started coughing like he had swallowed a pathling whole or something. Rather sneakily, in case of any onlookers, one of her hands came between her front and West's back. With an open palm, she rubbed a small circle gently in the middle of the wrath demon's back. It was something her Ma used to do whenever she swallowed a bone or something left over from a barbecue. Geeze, West. You'll call attention to us. Sure, she was partly concerned he'd hack up a lung, but mostly she thought he'd be fine and that the bigger concern was being watched. She was on his back and not strangling him. Or maybe she was? Was that why he was coughing? Levi's other hand, ironically enough, clung onto West's front just at his collarbone when the boil rushed off behind some trees for cover. Whaddaya'think yer- Her lips ceased when she noticed the shadow of something slow-moving coming their way. Sliding off of West's back, the tatzel's eyes followed the end of the shadow until they saw an old undead shuffling down the sidewalk. With a sigh of relief that it hadn't been a smart-mouthed student, Levi looked straight into West when he spoke. What? What're ya'thinkin'? It was an honest question asked simply due to his mentioning that he was thinking of something. She was interested to hear his thoughts. Although she was ready to smack him if he suggested they take out the old man. Levi took the arm, as if it were practice for their more regal performance at prom. Prom. Right. This was all still about prom. Levi hadn't asked anyone to go... and she hadn't been asked either. As she learned from last year, it wasn't actually a requirement; the ghoul could head on over there alone so long as she had the dress. Or she could ask him; which was not in the cards at the moment. The maul was in view. Or at least what Levi thought might be the maul was in view. With her fingers curled around West's forearm, Levi pointed again with her other hand, looking from the entrance, back to West, and then back to the entrance again. The tatzel ghoul might have been a bit excitable all of a sudden. She might very well be the first tatzelwurm in a city folk maul. Boil~ howdy. The size of the dorms had shocked her upon arrival at the school. This, the giant shopping center dedicated specifically to the art of shopping, was downright mind boggling.

Compared to the piggyback rides and unintentionally titillating ear ticklings that had gone on in the last forty-five minutes, walking arm in arm was nothing. West didn't even try to dissuade her from doing so. Instead, he brought his arm close to his chest to loosely lock hers in place. He had no excuse to offer taunting passersby now. There were no reasons he could come up with that would explain why sparring opponents were so merrily prancing off to the maul together.
"I was thinking..." he began, a sarcastic edge to his voice that suggested he didn't actually want to talk about it, "that it mighta been someone we knew." He didn't elaborate on why that had led him to leap into the undergrowth. Maybe she already understood.
He watched her reaction to the showy building, far more entertained by her response than by the maul itself. West had seen mauls. He had never seen his ghoulfriend react so strongly to one. His ghoulfriend. He might have been staring, a faint smile playing at the the corners of his lips. When he realized this, he blinked and forced himself to look at the building instead.
"Where'd'y'wanna go?" he asked. Inside might have been a good option. He held his arm away from his body so she could reclaim her hand, then pulled open one of the heavy glass doors when they reached them.

Okay, that hadn't been what she asked, but the tatzel just shook her head to his tone. He wasn't going to give her the answer she wanted short of her wrestling him to the ground and pinning him till he did so. This was something to consider later, but not until she got her dress and the needed business of the day was done.
The sheer size of the doorway nearly made Levi's knees buckle underneath her, causing the ghoul to fall to her knees; but she didn't. Levi did, however, ground her tail as she looked up and around, disconnecting from West to do so.
The big sign that welcomed them, the architecture, the fountains and plants decorating the front ever so neatly... Oh hey- fountains. An ear twitched and Levi's smile got just a bit wider while she ever so casually strolled up to one. Leaning to peek into the bowl of it, the ghoul gave a small sigh. No fish.
Shrugging, she turned to look at one of the large pillars lining the doorway, rubbing a hand on the surface of the column and peering up at how high it went. Never seen... somethin' so big. This is really'all just fer shoppin'?!
Levi's tail twitched excitedly as she bounded back over to West like a tatzel scarling that had too much gummy candy corn. Ready to practically burst through the glass door herself, she skidded her heels into the entrance carpet to answer the boil as if she was totally not a newcomer to the maul. Anywhere's good, I suppose. One foot was through the door, but Levi hadn't yet looked upon the interior that would soon have her in awe.

"Fountains. Yes... they are," he said, clearly amused. What did she see in fountains? He recalled being drawn to them as a scareling, but that was primarily because misbehaving had been frowned upon by many of his parents' friends. He used to love hopping out of his family's carriage and racing over to the positively gigantic stone structure, a certain pride demon at his side... West smiled briefly, a particularly insistent wave of nostalgia washing over him. It certainly didn't look so huge now. He pulled his gaze from the dancing water, looking up at the pillar instead.
Still simply a pillar. No memories there. West nodded. "All fer shoppin'. Diff'rent kindsa shoppin', but shoppin' all th'same." The boil stepped back closer to the door so they wouldn't find themselves stuck while trying to go through simultaneously. "There're plennya ghoul clothes. We should be able t'find y'lotsa things."
West followed her inside, looking left and right down the long, busy passages. Casual clothes first? He had messed up more than her dress. Plus, he wasn't quite ready to tackle the whole prom thing yet. Buying a dress meant getting something for himself and getting something for himself meant asking her if she was going with him in the first place and... ahghhhhhghrrr. Not yet. He looked to her for direction. Maybe she would have something in mind once she'd seen the place.

Yea, lots'I'm sure, kekeke. Levi was willing to replace his use of "we" to include solely himself; it was going to be up to him, she was sure. Speeding over through the door first, she entered the maul to find that things looked very different than the market back home. It wasn't bad, but she didn't know how else to describe it.
Her tail curled up and into itself while she actually gasped in awe of all the doorways and windows and things in those windows. It was a tiny city within a city in this place! There were just never-ending streets of things to look at and buy... the maul was a maze of alleyways and it looked like people were just coming out of every direction.
Oh Jack, they had to search through all these places.
She took in a heavy breath and peered down both ways of the current corridor. So... uh... where're tha'ghoul things? They got different streets fer boil n' ghoul clothes? She didn't know how this worked. Levi just wanted to know where the clothes were, but looking into some of the windows right now gave the ghoul the impression not all of these stores had what she was looking for. The tatzel had come to a conclusion then: she would have been as lost as Popcorn in a barrel in here without West as a city dwelling guide. Yew city folk sure do'a lot'a shoppin', by Jack.
Right. There was a goal here. A prom dress was needed to attend prom properly (or at least, it was a custom so she wanted to uphold tradition), so they needed to go to a shop that would have such things. Where they got, ...ya'know... the fanciest things? Levi obviously avoided eye contact as soon as she'd turned her gaze back to West before speaking. Reassuring herself that shopping for a prom dress with ones boilfriend was completely fine and it was all just a matter of payback. There was more than just the dress to consider, however, in that case.
Somehow sidetracking focusing on the case of payback for what he'd cut up in her closet, Levi was able to look West in the eye again. Maybe some'a them other shirts n' nickers ya cut up could be 'round here too. Hmm- She rubbed a finger and thumb under her chin in thought.
Where they got tha'best sorta nickers, West? There had to be bloomers in here somewhere- somewhere in this mass of a market!

The bustle of the maul was nothing new to him, in fact, West sometimes came here when he needed to be surrounded by the white noise you could only find in an overcrowded madhouse. There had even been a couple of times he had found himself outside of Cold Topic, looking to practice his anger harnessing, but his uncle had since taught him there were places far better suited to collecting rage.
He watched Levi examine their surroundings, unsure as to whether she was awed or concerned. Possibly both. "Nah, there aren't rows fer boils and ghouls," he said. "Everythin's mixed. Well, not th'food." There he went mentioning food again. West slowly moved toward the light-up directory, pointing at the kiosk when there was a break in the group of wide-eyed shoppers surrounding it. "Y'read where ya wanna go an' use the map t'get there. Easy. We dun need it though. I know m'way 'round good enough." At least he did when there weren't nickers involved. Had he known he was cutting some of those up all those months ago, he might have paid closer attention. West was certain she had chosen this moment to look him in the eye again on purpose. He turned away as he felt a prickle rise up the back of his neck. "C'mon," he muttered, trying to appear as though he proudly shopped for bloomers every day of the week.
Continuing forward slowly, the boil started on a roundabout journey that would eventually take them past all three ghoulypants stores he was aware of, hoping she would stop him if anything actually caught her eye. Between the first and second locations, however, was a little shop known as Vepar Ordenti Uni Volenti, or VOUV for short. The prospect of looking at fancier items—including the possibility of that prom dress—suddenly didn't seem so bad in comparison to shopping for bloomers. And anyway, VOUV would be... fun. The place had only just started admitting non-demons three years ago, and many of its staff members were still unapologetically elitist. It was perfect. They were gonna be so mad.

Levi peered over the heads of the various creatures in front of the directory, the ghoul's tail helping her easily rise over them. The map didn't make much sense to Levi and she frowned at it in disappointment. Hey- given enough time, the tatzel thought, she'd study it and know it no problem (not really)! They had to get going though considering all the doorways and windows they had to look through. If the clothing shops weren't all together...
Well, if yer sure ya'know, then I'll just be takin' yer word fer'it. Another toothy grin would be shot West's way as she settled back onto her feet, challenging his maul navigation skill. She followed after the wrath demon, turning this way and that while trying not to stray too far behind due to glancing at some of the windows as they passed by. Don't reckon they got no bloomers in any'a these. Only them ... uh... If West didn't know what ghoul's wore underneath their bloomers, she wasn't going to explain it right now. Focus focus.
Looking up to the sign for the store they stopped in front of, the country ghoul thought to herself: that's not real gold, is it? It might very well have been when one considered the look of the interior. Levi couldn't hide the sheer wonder in her face as she crossed through the doorway and entry.
The entry even came complete with a door person; a sleekly dressed man wearing a dress shirt and ruffle with black dress pants and shoes shined to the point where Levi figured she might be able to see her face off of them. For some reason, the ghoul noticed the shiny polish of his shoes most. Bowing lightly to West first, "Good day, Sir. Welcome," the man stayed bowed and stared at the passing pair of short shorts. He said nothing, but the disgusted thoughts were there. Howdy! How's it goin'? She didn't expect an answer; it was just her way of returning his greet.
The clear doors the man opened led into the shop itself which was, to say the least, sleek. Marble. Black Marble. Everywhere. It had a somewhat cold feeling to it with the simplicity of the setup and chains elaborately hanging from a central rod iron (?) chandelier over a table of neatly folded clothes. There were dressforms with various fashionable garments on them and there were a good 6 attendants in this section of the shop, from what Levi could count quickly. It was all ALOT to take in, and her jaw did drop at how much luxury was in this one space. Well, I'll be Jack damned in a ditch... Surely she'd be able to find a prom dress here. Just observing the sort of things they had on the dressforms indicated that this was a very very fancy place. Bet they got somethin' fer me in'ere somewhere. Got 'nuff ta'dress a whole town fer a prom, I reckon.
