"Pins, hmmm?" He seemed to consider the suggestion carefully, holding out his arms and staring down at his sleeves. "Well, I've had people try wrapping them up, tying them, slinging them over my shoulders, hold them for me..." Clearing a lot of people had tried very hard to help him with his issue. However, after a moment of thought, he flapped his arms again (despite Lan's lesson of not doing that just a few minutes prior).
"It's more fun when they hang free though! And very convenient. If there's something I want in a tree that's out of reach, I just slap it out with my sleeve."
When she agreed to see him shoot, he cheered, trotting towards the target range as he summoned his bow into his hand. He was all grins and cheerfulness as he set an arrow to his bow and drew back the string, and then...
Suddenly srs face.
Releasing the string, the arrow zipped through the air, planting itself into the center of the target with a solid thunk. Lowering his bow, Zhi simply stared at his shot, and then he grinned.
He had been aiming for the outside ring but okay, that worked too. (☉▽☉)a

He apparently was a slow learner, as he began to wave his arms about yet again. "We do not slap trees with our sleeves. If you want a tree for whatever reason you don't.. use your sleeves as ropes. It would look rediculous and not to mention you might rip your sleeve and lords know that is a pain." Still the horseman showed off his skills with a bow and lan would amit, she was slightly. Slightly impressed. He was a soldier after all. She was also impressed by the fact it looked like he took it as something more than a game. "Very impressive. No doubt this is why you are one of our soldiers. Only the finest make it into the troops after all."

Despite the fact his bullseye had kind of been an accident, the horseman couldn't help up swell up with pride at the compliment. Yes, yes he was pretty good, wasn't he? If it was possible, Zhiqiang's head inflated ten times at that one compliment, a wide grin spreading over his face.
Yup. He was one of the finest, alright.
However, despite his growing ego, when he spoke, all he said was a surprisingly modest, "Still have a ways to go! I practice a lot now." There was a pause, and then his expression darkened a little as he added, "Ever since...what happened, anyways."

Lan would have told him it was okay to be egotistical. The change in his expression did not go unnoticed. "Practice well Zhiqiang. Our time will come." She smiled, though there was nothing kind about it. "We will have our vengeance."

"We will," Zhiqiang agreed quietly, his lips pressing into a tight line, "For what we lost, and for what we will lose if they continue to have their way..."
And then he threw his arms up into the air again, that dumb, wide-eyed grin popping back onto his face. "BUT WELP, UNTIL THEN, I'm kind of hungry. I should go find some food!" He wriggled his arms, his sleeves flopping from side to side, "Are you hungry too, miss Lan lady ma'am, or are you going to practice some more?"

He was fast in the way he shifted emotions and it was a bit.. refreshing if amusing. "Until then. I was going to train a bit. Enjoy your meal Zhiqiang. My hunger is for now, that of my enemy's suffering." Summoning her bow, she shot after the target, missing the center by a few inches.

"Ooookay! I'm off to grab some food then," He declared, flopping a sleeve at her as he waved goodbye, "Thank you for the lessons! I will try to keep them in mind! Now if you'll excuse me..."
Lifting his arms straight up into the air, Zhiqiang proceeded to awkwardly run away, his sleeves trailing behind him like ribbons.
...What was that about keeping Lan's lessons in mind? Oh well.
