The turtle, if it had any objections, did not seem to make any sign of it. It didn't seem to move very much, but then, what turtle wanted to move from a comfortable sunbeam? Even Thaw did not like to stir when he was lying in the sun.

"Now, I'm sure the turtle does not mind so much, but I think we will be much more successful in wooing him to your cause if we offer him something to eat. Turtles are quite fond of berries, and there happens to be a blackberry bush just over there," he said while pointing his nose in the direction of the bushes.

"Why don't you go fetch some for the turtle?"

A protest rested idle on her lips to the instruction. Nonetheless, she rose and made her to way to the proposed bush. She was careful in her examination, nose brushing against slick leaves as she picked a branch littered with plenty of ripe berries. She was gentle in the breaking of the twig and slow in her return as her head was held steady, her steps measured. It would not do to lose many in haste. Thus it was quite a feast she set before the turtle, eyes lifting to the buck. "There we are. I hope he likes them."
