Chryses was definitely not usually one to smile, but he could express pleased emotions over a nice piece of fashion. It was usually such a triumph that got a smile out of the normally unpleasant demon.
He nodded. "It should go well with most of my things, and it's elegant but not overboard." He chuckled. A success of fashion would have him in a good mood for the rest of this little excursion.
He considered the dress, crossing his arms and drumming his fingers against his forearm. "Hmm. An elegant, detailed dress. You'll want a mask that compliments and doesn't overbear." He looked from the picture to the available masks on offer and frowned. "Hmm. Most of these are overbearing bordering on tacky..." He scanned carefully, his eyes skipping over ones in the wrong colors. Then, he spotted one, easily missed among its more ostentatious brethren. "Perhaps that?" he nudged her gently and pointed. It was the right colors, and the only major decoration was a golden flower. "I think it will match well, and it's detailed enough to look nice but not so much that everyone will miss your lovely dress being distracted by a feathery, sparkly mask, hmm?"Kaiyumi Yay pretty reference pictures! =DDDD I PROMISE I WILL TRY TO BE MORE SPEEDY. Although Xiu had not been aware of it, she had unconsciously been a little nervous around the boil this whole time. It was not until she felt her tensed shoulders relax did she actually realize that she had been a little intimidated by Chryses. Despite having met--and sometimes having befriended--a number of initially-grumpy or cold students, it usually took the baku some time until she actually felt comfortable around them.
Feeling a little less wary now that he was smiling, Xiu grinned up at him. "If you see me at prom, swing by and say hi, okay? I'll be the one running around with a camera in hand." Snapping pictures at these events was an annual hobby for the ghoul now--if she could help it, she would grab a few shots of every student to share with the yearbook and school newpaper.
Her shell-shaped ears perked up slightly as he spoke, her lips curving into a wry smile at the word "tacky". Yes...yes, that was definitely the right word for many of these masks. Fortunately, Chryses' taste clearly leaned towards the simple and elegant rather than the extravagant.
"That...that's perfect," The baku pink eyes were round as she reached out with her free hand to take it, her gaze skimming over the delicate gold details. After a moment of silence, she suddenly laughed, her tail swishing behind her as she looked up at the beam at the other demon.
"You have good taste! Thank you very much for the help!"

Xiu was, interestingly, rather lucky in that she had caught Chryses on a fairly good day and then pulled him into his element. Fashion was his secret, usually hidden passion. Well, that and cute fluffy minipets. He was definitely mor comfortable here than if she had taken him to say, a scarecade.
"I will be sure to do so," he agreed. Chryses was, honestly, rather surprised with himself with how friendly he was being, but Xiu was honestly easy to speak to and, he felt, difficult to be as nasty and dismissive as he would normally be.
His grin widened as he saw how excited she was, and he fought the urge to point out that well of course it was perfect, he had picked it out. He generally considered himself to be very good at this sort of thing.
"I'd like to think I have fair taste," he said, though every bit of his tone indicated the falseness of his humility. Oh yes, he was definitely proud of his talents. "You're very welcome, Miss Xiu. Glad to help."

Catching his tone of voice, Xiu's smile grew a little wry. "Confident aren't you, Chryses? Though..." She turned the mask over in hand, running her fingers along it's curves before emitting a little laugh, "You've proven that you deserve to have that confidence, I think. This time, anyways."
The baku grinned, and then motioned towards the cashier, indicating that she was going to go and pay for the two masks. Fortunately, it seemed that there were many more people browsing what the shop had for sale rather than buying, so the line-up to the cashier was practically non-existent. After a few minutes, the ghoul returned with two bags in hand.
"Here you are! I suppose I should let you go now, since you probably had your own plans when you came here today, but thank you again for your help!"

Chryses nodded. "I find it's usually well-placed," he said, chuckling quietly. He waited as she went to pay, casually checking his pocket watch. It was a marvel it had gone un-glanced-at the entire time he was shopping with her, and he was surprised to see that a fair amount of time had passed without him being aware of every "wasted" second as he usually was. Though perhaps this was not such a waste after all.
He accepted the bag from her graciously when she returned, glad the line to pay was far shorter than the crowds suggested.
"It was lovely meeting you, Miss Xiu, and I hope we run into each other again," he said, a more gracious goodbye than he usually offered.
He supposed there was still plenty of time for minipet browsing.Kaiyumi And that's a wrap, I think! Thanks for RPing with me and putting up with my slow response times and such <3
