A tall, bald man with a serpentine black tattoo twirling around his ear and down to his shoulder turns to the strange female who just walked behind his bar. He rose a brow at her as he tossed a glass cup over his shoulder into the sink behind him. He slammed his fist upon the counter top right next to Luniya. He didn't look happy.

"Who do you think you are and why are you tending to MY customers?"

He scowled at her intensely, eyes falling over her quickly before focusing back upon her own eyes, judging upon her own attitude. He grinds his teeth a bit as he waits for an answer.

Luniya was making sure to keep track of the mouse running back and forth on the ceiling, then suddenly a loud thud sounded next to Luniya. It was a mans fist, and it passed so closely to her arm she could feel the wind from the force of the fist on her skin. This man gave her goosebumps from the very bottom of her toes to the tip of her neck. She instinctively wrinkled her eyes and nose while turning to face the bald man.

"Um, I've been working here a almost a week. My name is Luniya and I'm tending to these fine, tip-giving, customers because they appreciate the good service I give," she answered with a a small smirk while straightening the wrinkles in her soft, fair skin.

She sincerely hoped if this was the owner of the bar that he would realize she had some talent with bartending. She put on her best sweet-eyes for the man and was prepared to plea if she had to in order to stay.

Once, again the mouse caught her attention as she thought, mm that could be dinner to herself and her eyes darted at the mouse for a split second. She quickly refocused her attention at the tall, bald man with a nervous smile hoping as she gently moved a few strands of her hair from her face.

Having made himself sure of the girl's safety without revealing his presence, Damien had opted to do as he usually did on a full day off. He spent the afternoon running and leaping through the forest, unmolested by any of the things that would normally pester a visitor - no mosquitoes, no poison vines, no bees or nettles - while stashing any litter that had been left, clearing the dirt paths so they could be easily traveled, and tending the one part of the forest he had taken for himself: a garden.

He was still not wholly certain what had driven him to do this. Entering a small glade, though, with a brook burbling down the middle, he slowed his frenetic pace and stared at his work. Here was strange. There was a slight slope to the area. He had cleared a patch of that slope of all vegetation and dug a hole in it some time back, then set steel supports in it two feet deep in the earth and one foot above it, and filled it in with hastily-made cement. He had dug so the cement wouldn't come loose, and then begun raising a small structure around the supports and finally, had planted ivy at each of the four corners. By now, the ivy had crawled up the small "building," which had slate for walls and glass windows. It was a fusion of the natural and man-made worlds.

After cleaning the area and fleshing out a new hole he had begun, he traipsed down the hill and in short order found himself in the bar that had popped up on the edge of his forest. He smelled like the earth and looked dusty, but his gaze was bright as he surveyed the room, looking for the new bartender. "Hey, Lun-" he started, and then realized there seemed to be some kind of altercation at the front. Gaze darkening in curiosity, he leaned against the wall and waited to see what might happen.

"ahhhhh" Niko yawned as he got out of his hammock and stretched rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "another beautiful morning" He looked out of his window to the sun.

Niko lived in an old tree house, he wasn't sure whose it used to be, but it was his now. He assumed it must've once belonged to a wealthy family, because you could see the wreckage of what seemed to be a big house just outside of it. even Identifying the wreckage is hard now though, as it has become overgrown, moss and trees blotting it out. He assumed the house belonged to someone wealthy, because not only did it seem large, but the house was almost in the middle of the forest, outside of town, he also assumed that the owner must've owned all this land, before whatever happened. The tree house on the other hand, held up quite nicely, the floor was weak in some places, and one of the walls was coming down, but using his skills Niko was able to get the materials to fix it, up and now calls this place his home. The treehouse itself is pretty big, you can definitely tell it was made for some wealthy man's children. The main room is a living room/kitchen. The kitchen was definitely just meant to be used with toy food, but with some ingenuity on Niko's part, he made it work enough to at least hold fire without burning down the tree. There was also closet, that used to be filled with toys, but after Niko emptied it out, it made a nice little area for a Hammock which is where he sleeps. there are also various knick-knacks and little trinkets that Niko has collected over the years, decorating the space as well, making it look very eclectic.

Niko reached into one of the cabinets looking for some bread, only to see that it was empty. "Damn I forgot to stock up... oh well looks like I'm paying the bakery a visit today! Better go wash up." he said to himself as he got dressed, and climbed down from the tree house, humming happily as he washed his face in the near by river. The Baker was a jolly little old woman, and all it really took was bit of sweet talking from Niko to get what he needed, but she was kind of a stickler about hygiene, and he knew she would comp him a bit more if he looked nice as well.

"There that's better." Niko said to himself looking in a piece of a broken mirror he had scavenged from the remains of the house as he headed off in the direction of the city. "Should I compliment her hair or tell her she looks good for her age today... hmmm" He thought aloud to himself. "Maybe if I can find something new to compliment she will give me a loaf or two of bread, OR maybe even a pie, if she's in a particularly good mood!" He thought to himself, humming as he headed through the forest. Most people would be a bit more cautious when heading through the forest, but he just kind of shrugs it off, being a sound magician has it's benefits, nothing gets close to him without him hearing it first.

Thaddeus spent most of his morning wandering the forest, enjoying the fresh air and fair weather. His long, maroon robe protected his skin from the worst of the insects and the well-kept dirt paths were kind to his bare feet. The pleasant conditions and appealing scenery made for an enjoyable stroll that lasted into the afternoon. As the sun drew nearer the horizon, Thaddeus veered from the path and stumbled by chance upon a small glade.

He took the time to survey the area and discovered an odd structure covered with ivy. Thaddeus spent a moment admiring the fusion of nature and man before he decided to investigate. He found the site to be currently abandoned but recently tended to - as a recently fleshed-out hole seemed to suggest.

After making a mental note of the site's location, Thaddeus returned to the main path and made his way into town. He asked around for the location of the nearest bar and easily found his way to it. He stepped inside and made his way to the front, taking note of a few interesting characters and the altercation taking place behind the counter. Thaddeus took a seat and smiled at the man and woman behind the counter; his brown eyes glittered with kindness.

"Excuse me." He said softly. "Just water, please."

He purposely chose to ignore the altercation, hoping it would instead dissipate now that they had been reminded that there are customers to tend to.

Luniya spotted Damien's sparkling silver eyes across the room. She wanted to speak to him but he was standing too far and she didn't think it would be very lady-like to shout in a bar. The bald man was serenely quiet. Luniya couldn't tell if he was drunk or not, but she decided to slowly step back and turn her body to walk to the other side of the bar. Hopefully the scary bald guy would just go away. She hated having to deal with rude people and tried to avoid them.

As she slid to the other side of the bar she came across a strong earthy scent. Her nose was becoming flooded with all the forest smells of people coming in. She started wagging her tail as if it would help the scent go away. The scent almost made her dizzy as if she was getting intoxicated. The bar smelled more like a forest than an actual forest.

She heard a man quietly request some water and because the tall, bald guy she hadn't served him yet. She turned around and picked up the spray attachment to the sink and filled a tall glass with water. She creeped up next to the guy asked for it and put her hands in front of her mouth as she leaned over the counter.

"That is a scary guy! Watch out. He might ask you why you only want water," She whispered not quiet in his ear but low enough so that nobody else overheard her. She paused in that position for a second spotting the mouse crawling on the floor. it was almost within her reach. She looked around the bar to see if anyone was really watching her then proceeded to lean further over the counter. Her bright green eyes dulled a little bit as she realized she wouldn't be able to catch the mouse. She stood straight up once more and dusted imaginary dirt off herself.

She winked at the man who ordered the water becoming embarrassed because there was no doubt he saw her yearning for that mouse. After releasing a long sigh, she grabbed a rag and started to wipe the bar off.

The argument appeared to've been solved by the man's silence, so Damien shrugged and made his way over to the bar finally. He followed Luniya's gaze to the floor... huh. Well, she was a cat... person... and being kind had never hurt him, so he went ahead and, with a gentle hum, stooped down and coaxed the mouse into his palm. Once he had stood back up, the gentled creature sitting quite still, he sat down on a bar stool next to the quiet man who had ordered water and, smiling, said, "A white Russian, please." Without any further comment, he set his murine captive on the bar and waited. He was obviously minutely nervous, as he always was with human interaction, but he seemed able to brave the awkwardness for now.

Thaddeus smiled to himself, satisfied with the likely-temporary end to the conflict. When served his water he tilted his ear towards the woman and listened politely.

"Thank you. I'll be sure to watch myself around him. Let me know if he starts to give you trouble." Thaddeus told her, maintaining his gentle smile. He noticed her glance around and then fixate on something on the ground. Thaddeus traced her gaze and discovered a mouse. His brow wrinkled in curiosity and looked back at the woman, who stood and winked at him. He smiled, thanked her once again for the water, and took a drink. He then dipped his fingertips of one hand into the water, ran them over his dark, shaved hair, and let the water drip down his light-brown skin. The cool water felt refreshing as it dripped down his face and Thaddeus let out a contented sigh. Another man soon sat next to him, ordered a white Russian, and placed a mouse - likely the one he had just seen - on the bar.

Thaddeus rubbed the back of his neck and watched curiously.

Luniya let out a triumphant laugh, her voice was deeper than usual when she felt confident and underestimated.

She spoke to Thaddeus as she continued wiping the counter top, "Ya know, I almost changed my first name to trouble, but I figured Luniya was was a pretty good name. And you know they say never mess with a good thing, or whatever the saying is." Luniya waved her finger as she spoke to him.

She watched him dip his fingers into the glass and fix his hair. She secretly wondered if he would drink from the same glass again and just how dirty his fingers were. Nonetheless, she figured it was normal. She couldn't say anything about it because she used to lick herself.

Suddenly a man walked over to the bar and placed the mouse on the table for her. Her face elated with overwhelming joy. She took out her dagger which was embroidered with two tiny sapphire jewels on the handle. It was one of her favorite daggers. Luniya twirled the dagger in her hands and swiftly swung her arm at the mouse. She stopped right before she pierced its skin and proceeded to scoop him up on her dagger. The tail of the mouse was hanging off her dagger as she threw him in an empty bottle. She felt the urge to howl but that would be pretty embarrassing so she suppressed it for now.

She heard the man order a White Russian and grabbed some vodka, Tia Maria, and cream to mix his drink. She looked at the man from the corner of her eye and poured a little more vodka than usual into his drink. She added the other ingredients and handed it to the man.

"So, tell me what brings the both of you guys here? You both sure do smell like the outside." She spoke cheerfully and softly even though her hair was standing on end waiting for them to answer.

"Oh, this is just my day off," Damien replied quietly. He gave a small grin as he received the drink, having seen her pour in the extra vodka, and sipped it. Mmmm... creamy. "I work in the woods, usually - I'm a ranger. You've been working here about a week, yeah?" He kept one foot on the his pack, which he'd placed against his bar stool. Always good to keep it in the range of his perception one way or another.

"Traveling." Thaddeus said with a small smile. "I've been walking through the woods all day. I decided to come here for a small rest." He took a sip of water and addressed Damien with a glance. "Are you the one who cares for the paths? They were quite nice." Thaddeus wondered if this was the man who had built the structure he had found in the woods, but decided not to speak of it for now. He felt that it would be unappreciated by the builder if he simply asked everyone he suspected of building it.

In the middle of the town, a small rumbling could be heard. It could easily be mistaken for a light earthquake for a few seconds, but it began to grow more intense. The shaking of the ground increased ten fold until a split was seen, several hundred feet in length. The land of the city would quake with a massive field, metal grinding against metal as a gigantic maw would literally open up, felling several buildings and destroying much property. Several of the onlookers would fall in, falling straight to their deaths. The maw would continue to open and break and crack before it would suddenly stop, and a large metallic device would show. It would grow and grow.... raising up to present itself as a space worthy vessel that would be armed to the teeth and armor so thick it could be almost inconceivable as to how it could even lift off of the ground. This large ship looked big enough to home hundreds of people. Suddenly, a loud gravely voice would break out over the city to regard its inhabitants and visitors, fiercely echoing off of the broken city's walls.

"Citizens of this broken and defeated planet... I call upon the more gifted of you to come and join me. Whether you use magic or not, if you can wield a blade or not. You're invited to join me on a cruise of sorts... You will be provided home, sustenance, and... access to power. Those who wish to join me... come to the new clearing of the city..."

Damien smiled, his eyes bright. "Yeah, I try to keep things neat and cle-" He stopped abruptly as the ground under his feet rumbled ominously. Soon after, the caustic, vibrating voice made its announcement, and Damien narrowed his eyes slightly. "It sounds like whatever this is just killed... hundreds," he murmured, quietly enraged. "If nothing else, I'm going to see what's going on. Pleasure meeting you," he said stiffly, then gathered his pack, paid for his drink, and sped out the door at a brisk walk. He broke into a run the instant he was outside, and sprinted to the site of the disaster.

The man's eyes went wide as he took in what had happened - the carnage of the ship's emergence. He looked around for a speaker, and drew his sword, silently ushering some of the frightened populace behind him.
