Danny tilted her head, clearly confused as she stuffed the triumphant pizza into her mouth. She was going to ask a question, but she was chewing and Roch seemed like he wanted to ramble for a while.
When she swallowed, she immediately said, "Wait wait Roch ... this isn't the first time you've met a ghoul. 'Cause I'm a ghoul, and I'm pretty sure Xiu is a ghoul, and I'm definitely not sure, but Edel said she was a ghoul ..."
Danny would never be convinced with Edel.

He stared at her. "I mean--look, I'm leadin' up to the problem here, you know? I have a PROBLEM with this one. She's nice enough, sure, but one, she's stalkin' me--she followed me twice, and once down to Gramp's place. In the bad part of town," he told her, looking irritated. "And she's--" He frowned, wondering how to put it.

Danny sat back up in her beanbag chair, only to throw her legs in Roch's lap and slouch down in the chair. These really were the best chairs ever. Even came with a footstool.
"Vegas! I love Vegas..." she said, mostly to herself. Roch had stopped talking, so she said, "Hm? She's what. She's ... actually a dinosaur. She's .... TEN FEET TALL. She's ...."

He shoved her feet off. "She's... well, one, she's real good friends with Lizzy, two, I'm ninety percent sure she doesn't know when she's comin' onto a guy. But she totally does. And three, I'm pretty sure she's got a close guy pal. Which is somethin ELSE I've had problems with. Basically," he said, "she's more than I wanna deal with. And I don't wanna hurt her, but I DO wanna get rid of her, see? So got any ideas?"

The feet went back on.
"What's wrong with Lizzy? And you're my close guy pal, are close guy pals bad ..." Danny asked. She'd never been very good friends with the ghoul (clash of interests, really), but there was that one time that Lizzy made her prom dress. That had to count for something.
Danny shrugged, moving on. "I dunno. Why d'you wanna get rid of her?" she asked. "But I guess I'd burn her alive if that's what you wanted ..." It was almost mechanical, that response. Then she realized something. "Ooh but that would mean hurting her, huh?"

"It ain't always like you and me," Roch explained. "More often I run into a ghoul with a close guy friend and they turn into boilfriend and ghoulfriend before you know it, see? It gets ugly, it's way too much effort, and honestly there's only a handful of people I actually care enough about to deal with the whole 'we're dating' thing. Couples in general bug me," he said bluntly. "Some more than others."
"And me and Lizzy... I guess she's fine on her own, but I ain't gonna put up with that sort of candlewax again. Her friends are hers, I ain't touchin' them. And no burnin' nobody save hunters or people in spars, got it?" he told her. "I don't wanna hurt her... I just..." he shrugged. "Don't want that sort of trouble."

Danny frowned. Roch had a rare disorder where he couldn't view things in pairs? That was so sad. What did he do when he saw his shoes in the morning? What did he do when he saw a pair of earrings? WHAT HAPPENED WHEN HE SAW TWO BREAD HALVES ON HIS SANDWICHES?!
Danny was pondering these deep thoughts, and she said, "Mmmm why not just be friends with her? Friends are good." She smiled gesturing to the two of them. Best friends were better.
Then she realized something. "Oh my Jack we're a couple of friends Roch- do you not like us?!"

"Couple as in boilfriends and their ghoulfriends," Roch said bluntly. "Like you and Rikki. If you weren't my best friend I'd have walked away without lookin' back. I can handle Hel and Mot, I guess, and Edel and Moure are fine. But Freya and Herryk? Seriously can't stand those two in the same room," he said bluntly.
"I'm even awkward around Shun and Mitsu together. All in all I think I'll just avoid the whole 'Third wheel' problem if I can. And in this case I fully plan on it."

Still confused. "But they're like not even a thing," she said, trying to puzzle it out for herself. "And you're not a third wheel with me and Rikki ... so-"
She stopped mid-sentence. "Wait Edel and Moure are actually a thing?"

"Yeah, they have been for a while, like, since Christmastival or somethin," he said, shoving her feet off of him again. "And I'm givin' odds that Amphi and the snake guy wind up dating," he told her. "Which is why she should DEFINITELY not be stalkin' me or haulin' me into the middle of the lake, or meetin' my granddad and Monica. All of which is why I need to come up with a non violent way of gettin' rid of her, see?"

Snake guy? Who the jack was the snake guy? Whaaaaat-
"Wait wait Amphi got to meet Monica and Vegas together? No fairrr," Danny whined. She loved her some Roch-grandparents. "Hey wait, you want to get rid of Amphi?"
Oh man. OH man oh man. Roch had it ALL wrong. "Amphi is like the cutest thing ever why do you want to get rid of her," she asked. She tapped her chin, then said, "Oh you mean the mermaid thing? Yeah I wasn't really okay with that- but you shouldn't get rid of her 'cause of that! She's really nice!!"

"I just TOLD you why," Roch pointed out. "Although the lack of a butt half the time might be--" He needed to be slapped, and he knew it, so he shut his own mouth this time. "How about we pull a Yin with this one?" he offered. "YOU can be friends with her and I'll go my happy way in the opposite direction!"
Somehow he didn't see that one working...

Danny sighed. Roch was just so stubborn. "Roch you can't just avoid everyone but me," she said, "Yin is one thing, but ... c'mon you have to be nice."
She slid her legs back onto his and said, "Besides, she really wants to be friends with you! She's even gonna audition for the Fright Music Club ..."

After wandering the school for awhile (a few hours) and opening a couple of club rooms (all of them), Amphi had stepped up to one she hadn't seen in this hallway (At least she thought she hadn't seen these in this hallways. There was a lot of hallways...and a lot of doors). Voices were heard behind the door but she cocked her head (Last time she opened the door to a club with voices, it turned to be some ghost performing something with goo or something....) . She knocked lightly once and hoped that maybe she had come to the right room. (Please let it be the right room...)
She had a audition after all. And wanted Roch to see that even though he had KISSED HER ON THE CHEEK THAT SHE WAS STILL WILLING TO BE HIS FRIEND. And this was part of his punishment!
"Excuse me-" Amphi opened the door and stood awkwardly as she saw Roch and Danny on top of each other...or more...Danny was comfortable on the Reaper's lap.
Her face blew up in a blush. "Ex...Excuse me for interrupting. If its okay, I came for a audition but...." She looked at the pair, awkward. "I can come back if you two are...um...discussing things?" Roch sure was comfortable with his Best friend. She didn't know Danny long (And since Thana told her that friends didn't really sit on each's other laps or such things...) but...."Or I can do this now and you can return to your...um...friendship...bonding...or...such."

There was this awkward second where Roch felt, strangely, as if what he was doing at the moment (being used as a foot rest) was cheating. Then there was a much larger and longer second of his mind going, WHAT. THE. JACK. Because frankly he was still reeling from Danny's admission that she'd invited the other ghoul to audition, and Amphi walking in at just that moment and the seriously misplaced sense of guilt was more than the boil's mind could handle--for all of two seconds.
Then he looked at Danny, his expression entirely dark, and grabbed the still capped bottle of water next to his beanbag and raised it to where she could see it. "Off," he said, shoving her feet off of his lap. Not that there was anything wrong with what was going on in the room, but he didn't like being a foot rest in the first place. And even if there WAS something wrong going on in the room, it was none of the mermaid's business!
But the idea of doing something wrong with Danny disturbed him so much he quickly changed the mental channel.
"Okay," he said to Amphi. "But see the deal is, you get lost, I won't kiss you, everyone's happy. But if you want to STAY long enough to audition, you gotta kiss me," he said with an evil grin. "So you can leave now. There's plenty of clubs--"
