Americans are stupid and don't think things through that just because birth control is an option does not mean they have to use it. Simple as that. Canada and Europe are more educated than us.

glitterboypilot Yes they are medical conditions, Not one, everyone should have to be paying for. Just so, Jack and Jill can get it on... I don't want to come of, mad or something, I really don't mind helping people. It is just, why should someone else pay for there fun, when their is so much more that that could be directed at, that are Actually life savers. There's part of the problem there. The two medicines while popularly advertise for sex have a varity of uses outside of treating ED and contraception though. While an employer could hold some sort of panel to find out why they are using these drugs, that just seems kinda petty. as for your other post: Quote: They swear it as much as, one would swear the moon is white on most nights. Whether they are telling the truth, it is a side effect of taking two drugs, drugs and street drugs(I know one is a pothead for lack of a better word), a preexisting condition, or they are just lying. I don't know, I just know they swear that they can't now. While drug interaction is a possiblity, that doesn't mean that birth control was the cause. And again, webMD is often good about citing drug side effects. I'm failing to see sterility listed. I'm not accusing them of lying, I'm just saying that they could be mistaken about what caused their sterility. It's fairly easy for a non-doctor to misdiagnose the cause of an illness.

Canada and Europe are more educated than us. I disagree. I have met Canadians and Europeans who are just as "stupid" if not more so than some Americans. It isn't wise to try and categorize an entire country, hundreds of millions of people, under one label. In this case I believe the problem is people believe what they hear without question (a problem that occurs in both countries and the continent mentioned). They then spread this idea, insisting it must be a fact, without any evidence to back it up. "Ignorance is bliss" is the quote that comes to mind. Too many people of all nations decide to do as they are told, go with the flow, and not bother to think things through because life is just easier that way.

Canada and Europe are more educated than us. I'm going to have to agree with Lord Kilo on this one too. It's not good to generalize especially concerning the United States since it contains a large variety of different socio-economic backgrounds and with varying differences on levels of educations. Most people do actually believe what they hear without question. Doesn't matter what country you come from, it's part of human nature. We are social animals who are tribal instinctually. It's been a huge benefit to us but it also has side effects such as group-think. Let me give you an example of this. The myth of science and religion being bitter enemies is root deep over in Europe and Canada; it's even over here in the States. Despite historians of science saying that this thesis is factually wrong it is still tooted to this day as a "fact" in the Western World. Why? Because this "fact" is part of the Western identity. It is a myth that give meaning to those who hold to this. It conveys the message of being a free-thinker and not giving into dogmatic traditions, which ironically this "fact" is doing.

To which, I have to point out... just because you have a slip of paper saying you graduated from x college, doesn't make you intellegent like Rob said... anyone can convinced of anything with the right words and tone. The case with Casey Anthony, or more modern Zimbermen...not entirely sure that is how one spells there names, The trial isn't even over, but because how the media put a spin on the cases... there are people saying that they did it with out even seeing one ounce of evidence.

When it involves a culture that one is actively in it's hard to examine the box critically when you are in the box without training that is. I think the word you are looking for is wisdom. You can be very intelligent but not very wise. Having a degree doesn't make you immune from giving into group-think and falling onto traditions, though it does imply that you'd be less likely to do so. You can be very wise but if your information is faulty then your wisdom may not hold true. While wisdom of the past is useful, if it's not supplement it with new information, it can quickly become nonsense. Quote: The case with Casey Anthony, or more modern Zimbermen...not entirely sure that is how one spells there names, The trial isn't even over, but because how the media put a spin on the cases... there are people saying that they did it with out even seeing one ounce of evidence. That's why I don't trust the court of public opinion. The only thing that it wants is blood and retribution.

rmcdra That's why I don't trust the court of public opinion. The only thing that it wants is blood and retribution. It doesn't help that the media, plays on that mentality for ratings. If they can spin it just right for ratings, they would make a fire chief a arsonist for starting the fire in a test building.

One thing you can generalize about the USA... is that when something to do with "free speech" or "free will" seems to be, tampered with, people go all berserk over it. That is definitely a trait I have noticed is strong with people of the USA. They love their "Free Country" and all that comes with it... or so they think. Quote: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. You know... this first amendment is actually being broken by that "God Hates Fags" people. Want to know how? "...the right of the people peaceably to assemble..." Now tell me... do they assemble to spread the word of God in peace? Heck... is any kind of protesting peaceful? No... I do not think so. People seem to twist and turn this first amendment like people twist and turn the Bible itself... mere words it seems... to most people.

I know there are smart Americans, I consider myself to be one of them, but, unfortunately, it seems the stupid ones tend to make the most noise and complain the most. And yes, I agree, people, especially in the US and probably other places too, just hear one piece of information and insist it applies to them no matter the circumstance. In this case, it would be the fundamental Christian groups who hear "the country is going to provide free contraceptives," and automatically think they will be personally delivered to them without their consent. They don't research or think things through. They just completely skip over the fact that contraceptives will be an option, rather than a requirement.

I'll admit that there have been times I've done it myself. But I didn't go around warning people about it and stretching the truth to get people nervous and fired up. I just kept it to myself, thought it over, developed a bit of skepticism over the idea, and did a little research. If only Conservative Christians would do the same.

By the letter of the law, they have been peacefully assembling and protesting. By the letter of the law, they are just standing there with signs within so many feet of a funeral or whatever they are attending. By the letter of the law, they can legally do this and suffer no penalty. The WBC is a joke anyway, they only have like 100 members all family and they are just attention whores. The less they are talked about the better since talking about them for any reason gives them what they want. They only start shouting when the cameras are on them.

When one thinks that they have the truth and that it's absolute, it breeds arrogance and willful ignorance. While conservatives here in the states do this, it's something that none of us are completely immune from. The saying "harden your heart" means not only being uncompassionate but being closed minded as well.
