S'kiro took Hekate's hand, "S'kiro, rider of Blue Neptanth. Greetings to you, Silver." Releasing the new riders hand, he looked over the silver. The blood on his mouth were nothing new to him. "Well, seems like you..umm. Have things under control with him." He turned and walked towards a different area, away from the silver and his rider. Something made him really uneasy around those two. Mine, I am here with you and will protect you. The love was felt strongly, knowing that the large blue would always be by his side.

********************************************************************************

Good, Loveth. You are looking splendid. The young blue took another bite. He watched as Hekate cleaned off Devith's maw, sending a smug thought to F'iar. It was all he could do, not to choke on his food. F'iar gave the blue a sharp look, but caught the end of what cause the feeling. A grin appeared, You want me to do that to you? "We are doing good. How are you two doing?"

Courath gave a draconic chuckle as Loveth joined their group. ~ Thank you Loveth. You're looking well oiled yourself! I had my meal earlier but I still hunger. I'm glad that they made it easier for us so Ours don't have to muss their clothes. I know mine is very proud of hers and Devith's must be as well. ~ It was a subtle compliment to the Silver and his rider, showing no ill will for the time being.

Dizzian waved to Aislin as her Crimson bespoke Courath. Her attention was on F'iar though. "Fantastic! I knew they ate a lot of meals during the day but it never occured to me how MUCH they actually packed away though! I know we're supposed to let them go till they're stuffed...but I'm afraid of ending up with a roly poly for a dragon! Courath's hide is already flaking and she's not been out of the shell more than a day!" She wrinkled her nose at Courath, the expression mimicked as best as she could by the green and accompanied by a snort into her bucket.

Kyrieko
Narisa watched all the new Rider pairs enter with a smile on her face. It was hard not to share in some of their excitement over finding their lifemate. She truly was happy for each of them and looked forward to watching them grow. And she also couldn't help but hope that each of them would learn to pay more attention to what their Weyrlingmaster would teach them. Foolish actions now would get their dragonets killed. She sighed softly, eyes briefly flickering around the table of ranking Rider's, a smile directed at one or another that caught her gaze.

I think they shall do fine, Narisamine. They will just have to learn how to walk on their own feet, so to speak. The gold murmured warmly to her rider. She stretched her wings out before settling more comfortably where she lay off behind the main festivities. She welcomed any of the other dragons that wished to join her while all their rider's sat at the tables.

<You are right. And I have faith in them.>

She glanced towards the Weryleader, waiting until the last of the Rider knots were handed out. Offering him a warm smile, Narisa stood clanked a spoon against her goblet to get everyone's attention, waiting for all of them to quiet down. Once she had it, the young goldrider took in a deep breath and addressed them all.

"The first thing I'd like to say to all of you is congratulations! Welcome to the life of a Rider. And trust me when I say, your journey is only just beginning. You should all be proud and excited in this and be prepared for the future in store for you. Now, I probably shouldn't need to say this, but considering some of you might be a little over-joyous and forgetful, the bond you share with your dragon is special and a very wondrous thing. They are your lifemates. Loyal and loving to you and you alone in ways that can't easily be described with words. There will never be anyone that knows you as well as your dragon." She paused, letting that sink in for a moment. "In the coming days, you will have the chance to explore this bond and learn to understand it. However, there are some rules that I have been asked to lay down for you in Abigail's place."

Taking a deep breath, Narisa continued. "Rule number one: There will be no sex until your dragon has fully matured. Rule number two: absolutely no consumption of alcoholic drinks is allowed until stated otherwise." She made sure to meet their gazes carefully with a stern one of her own. She knew very well what could happen if the new Weyrlings broke that rule. "All rules are important, but especially these two. Your bonds with your dragons are new and they are still impressionable. If you break these rules you risk your bonded's life. Sex and drink addle your mind. This WILL confuse your dragon. To the point that they send themselves Between. And let me tell you now, there is nothing that will ever ease that pain."

"Rule number three: Do not go Between or Between Times without any sort of supervision or prior training." She gave them all one of Those Looks. "I sincerely doubt you'd like to end your new life's journey by ending up in a wall." She paused. "Or another Rider." That one had always given her nightmares, especially when her mind was feeling exceptionally creative. "Along a similar note, rule number four: do not try to fly until you've been given the okay. Attempting to do so any earlier then this will result in your dragon's wings being injured. A muscle being strained too far. You could very well cripple your dragon for life by being foolish and jumping the gun. All of you will be shown how to accomplish both of these when you're ready. This does not mean that your dragon can't flap their wings and exercise them. Just please be careful. Especially for those of you with Atypical dragons." Her blue eyes flickered along those with black, silver, and crimson dragonets. "Their endurance is not as great as the other dragons upon hatching. You all will have to work harder and cautiously while assisting them in building up their strength."

Taking a moment, Narisa quickly sorted through her mind, counting off all the rules. She was missing one. Shards, what was the last one- Oh! Right. "And finally, rule number five: don't chew firestone quite yet. When the time comes to learn this, you'll be taught how to use a flamethrower as well as firestone." Her expression finally lost some of it's sternness, a warm sunny one taking it's place. "For now, all of you should enjoy getting to know your lifemates. And your bunkmates. And yes, for those of you hoping Impressing meant no more chores, you still have them. And then some." There was an amused twinkle to her eyes at this. "Never be afraid to approach any of us and ask questions. Don't let your pride hurt either of you. Be as loyal to your dragons as they will be to you."

Narisa spread her arms to encompass everyone. "Congratulations Junior Weyrlings! Follow those rules and you and your lifemate will have a safer growth. Right now, though, is a time for celebration and the beginning of new and exciting journies. So eat and be merry!" Feeling like a huge weight had lifted from her shoulders, Narisa lowered herself back down to her seat, feeling her heart pound and a faint flush rise to her cheeks. Shards, she hoped she did alright.

You did excellent, mine. I am sure that Brakiath's would be proud of you. Cepheith rumbled affectionately.

"A pleasure to meet you S'kiro." Hekate replied with a smile watching as the man seemed to fidget somewhat under the combined gaze of her and Devith.

Since when do you nothave things under control Mine? The silver asked His, his voice ripe with amusement and pride as the pair's eyes seemed to bore into S'kiro's back as the man left. Oh well. There would be others to speak to.

Perking up somewhat at Loveth's comment Devith turned to eye his sister even offering the crimson a rumbling croon in pleasure. Devith loved compliments as he arched his wings slightly, but made no move to move as he was far from ready to give up the warmth of using his rider's lap as a pillow.

My thanks Loveth. You and yours are looking rather radiant tonight as well. The dusky silver replied his voice a commanding, but charming rumble as he eyed Loveth and Hers. While Loveth's lifebond in his opinion was no where near as gloriously perfect as his own the silver would admit the two made a wonderful pair.

Then as the crowds murmuring died down the goldrider began to speak drawing everyone's attention. For a moment a surge of jealousy rocked dragon and rider at having their limelight stolen. We mustn't lose our composure. Hekate managed to grind out, the strength of their emotional bond still something the girl was getting used too.

Calming somewhat though the two settled in to listen, the low chill of fear blooming in Hekate's chest at the thought of losing Devith should she be careless. True Hekate disliked rules, really disliked rules. But Before when she broke them she had only herself to worry about, but now. . .now she had Devith.

Glancing at the meat bucket she briefly considered just taking her lifebond and running. It wouldn't be that hard to nab a cart and some horses, but the silver needed so much to eat and demanded constant oiling to make sure his wonderful hide was properly cared for. Then there was the chance of him growing up stunted should she fail to provide or worse him going between. She doubted the little dragon could hunt just yet and even with all her skills should they be attacked Hekate would be hard pressed to protect them both.

The Weyr had her cornered.

Hekate hated being cornered.

We won't be bound for long Mine. You'll see. Devith soothed his eyes whirling with love and worry and in a rather rare display of public affection pressed himself tight against his rider's side lifting his head to touch the tip of his nose in a draconic like kiss to his rider's cheek. Letting out a strained breath Hekate turned running her hands lovingly over Devith's head and eyeridges as if memorizing his face in this moment.

I'll protect you. Hekate promised looping her arms around Devith in a loose hug. She loved him, loved him enough to put up with all the rules. Loved him enough to stay in the Weyr. She loved him more then anything on Pern.

I am perfectly capable of protecting Mine and Myself. Devith replied squirming slightly in his rider's grip drawing a smile from her. He knew what lay in her heart though, beneath her words as the worry melted from his eyes and love surged through their connection.

He was a King. It was only a matter of time before the rest of the Weyr came to know him as such and fell in line. Giving his rider one more affectionate nuzzle he folded his wings settling in to sweep his fiery gaze over his subjects, surveying them from his place at the head of the feeding table with pride.

Hekate though did relinquish some respect to the Goldrider, Narisa as she was told, who spoke. She was right there was nothing in the world quite like being a dragon rider.

Dizzian had heard the rules before though now that they applied to her she felt a hint of rebelion. There was NO way she was risking Courath though. She'd take her dragon over a HUNDRED blue riders vying for her attentions. No matter how charming or handsome they may be. Courath paused in her eating and sat at Dizzian's side, leaning against her bare legs. Her crooning was a low rumble, just barely a vibration felt through the skin. ~ We will Go father than any before, but we will do it when ready. Nothing will hold us back. ~

Dizzian tilted her head down at her lifemate. "Just what have you got in mind Courath?" She whispered. A warm reassurance was all she recieved in return. Courath knew what she was about and her plans would wait till the time was ripe.

Hekate waited a few minutes for the chatter of the feast to return. She was content for the moment to sit and simply scratch Devith's eyeridges, the silver's eyes whirling in pleasure. Still it would be a shame to not go and introduce herself to those other young riders like herself attending.

I have strength enough to mingle Mine. I am not as weak as they think I am. Devith spoke sensing her thoughts even as rose from her lap tucking his wings as elegantly as one might wrap a cape about themselves and looking at Hekate expectantly.

Of course you're not weak Devith.
Hekate mentally scoffed rising from her place as well to rest one loving hand on Devith's neck. I simply don't wish you to waste your energy on unimportant trifles. She corrected with a chuckle as dragon and rider scanned the crowd, Hekate's eyes settling on the rider of green Courath.

I demand perfection mine. Soon we shall surpass all others. Devith rumbled, his mind alight with ideas even as Hekate and he strode through the crowd. Hekate in her part merely flashed a roguish smile, she'd soon see to it they had the means to see fruition to their ends.

"Good evening." Hekate greeted Courath's rider with a refined, but mischievous smile, the green rider appeared to be close to her own age. "Congratulations on impression. My name is Hekate, my lifebond here is Devith." She added and nodded down to where the vain silver was leaning into her legs in a casual and breath taking poise to show of the sheen of his oiled to mirrored perfection hide.

Sister. Devith greeted with a mental draconic nod his eyes shifting along with His to eye Courath's rider. He could already feel Hekate's mind churning as she mentally picked the girl's appearance apart and checked for any telltale signs of weapons. Eyeing Dizzian himself he did his best not to scoff at her outfit after all though it was hard for him to imagine Hekate had mentioned that there were those who actually didn't care about how they looked. A thought that made him shudder. Still the other riders outfit was suitable, but no where near in his opinion as ravishing as his own rider's which was the entire point.

He was Special, he and His deserved only the best.

Now why was she approaching her? Dizzian hadn't noticed the young woman stand and move until she was already upon her. Looking up at the former drudge, taking in once again her shimmery dress and shining dragon she felt the hair on the back of her neck rise. Something was not normal about this woman. He looks greasy She thought unfairly. Like Amunet, there was something about Hekate that both intrigued and threatened her. Dizzian felt the other's judgmental appraisal and boldly offered one of her own in turn.

~ Don't be unkind just yet mine. Let us see what they want. ~ Courath sat composed beside Hers, eyes barely whirling but deeply blue. She didn't stand to greet her silver brother but returned his nod coolly. ~ Devith. ~ Haughtiness and self importance would not impress this hatchling.

Tweaker drifted down to Dizzian's shoulder, adding another layer of green to the girl's attire. The little lizard sensed her bonded's wariness and mantled her wings, her eyes taking a hint of yellow and betraying Dizzian's calm exterior. She laid a calming hand on the flits head, clasping it to her face in a caress.

She stood, adjusting her hips and subtly tilting her chin and filling her lungs to enhance her chest. She returned a smile of her own, feisty in it's own way. "Pleased to meet you Hekate. This is Courath, and I am Dizzian. Congratulations to yourself as well. From what I've gathered you've had quite the turn of fortune. Devith looks well." She meant it as the truth at least. Even though she held fast to the thought that he was over oiled, he didn't look as frail as many of the atypical hatchlings she'd encountered.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 04, 2012 7:52 pm

Hekate eyed Dizzian as the girl turned and took notice of her seeming to puff herself up like a startled wherry. The greenrider's once bubbly nature seemed to cool at Hekate's presence as if Hekate herself was an icy fog. For a brief moment a touch of a frown danced upon Hekate's lips before it was once more replaced with that same roguish smile. Beside her she could feel Devith swelling with pride even as green, rider, and flit reacted to their presence.

They should feel threatened Mine. Weare clearly superior. Devith crooned in darkly pleased pleasure, a draconic smirk on his dusk marked face even as he eyed his sister and her pair bond.

Of course. There's no dragon that could ever compare to you Devith. Hekate assured him feeling the silver once again swell with pride even as she reached out to temper it. But remember we will be taking lessons alongside these two for a while yet. It'd be prudent not to make enemies so soon.

CleverMine. Very well I will deem them thehonor of 'playing nice.' They will both soon come to recognize our glory. Devith replied somewhat irritated at his sister and her rider's continued neutrality bordering on hostility when they should clearly be admiring him. Still what did their opinions matter when he had the best of the two-legged clutch in his eyes.

Tell me Courath. How goes yourtime with your lifebond? She seems pleasant. Is she all you everhoped for? Devith asked his tone arrogant and commanding, but warmed by amusement even as his eyes whirled a merry blue and green. She seems tobe caring for you well. He added doing his best to please his rider though he was staunchly tempted to taunt, tease, and toy with his green sibling and her rider. And Oh did her rider seem like she'd be fun to toy with.

"Pleasure to meet you as well Dizzian of Green Courath." Hekate replied and at the mention of changing fortune she glanced down at Devith running her hand over his head frill her eyes softening with love. "While I prefer to take a more hands on approach to the changing of my fortune~" She continued looking back up at Dizzian her soft smile once more darkening to that of roguish delight, her gold eyes flashing with some unrecognizable emotion.

"Devith was certainly a wonderful, but unexpected surprise." She finished an amused snort from her companion echoing her sentiments.

It does not count as a surprise Mine for we were destined to meet. I was simply biding mytime for my grand entrance when that shovel ruined everything. Devith replied so not just his, but Dizzian and Courath could hear as well his eyes whirling in residual irritation at having his glorious ascension into this world ruined.

"I'm certain your entrance would have been spectacular." Hekate soothed scratching the young silver's eyeridges to ease his displeasure even as she chuckled at his disgruntlement. She herself personally despised having her plans ruined. There was such a great beauty to a perfectly executed plan after all and if it accented her own beauty all the better. "As it stands Devith I doubt Trine will be forgetting your actual entrance any time soon." She added with a grin that turned into a laugh when her silver let out a low grumble. A very handsome grumble mind, that was irritatingly pitch perfect in sound and motion. How Devith always managed to make himself look so good with such minimal effort Hekate could hardly fathom.

Glancing up Hekate noticed Dizzian eyeing Devith's hide, the action making the silver preen somewhat under the attention even if the girl looked to me looking more for faults then admiring. Mhph, Hekate would dare her to find any. "I've been working hard to keep him fed and oiled properly. It's a bit difficult since they haven't assigned us weyrs just yet and I have to go between the temporary weyr we're staying in and my old quarters since my things have yet to be moved." Hekate replied running a careful hand down Devith's neck unconsciously checking his hide.

"Actually do you know of some better oil? I've been using what was provided, but it doesn't soak in real well and irritates Devith so I've been looking for something a bit more plant based for him." She asked tilting her head as she looked back to the green rider giving Dizzian her best innocent smile. Hoping to coax some information out of the girl. Not that she actually expected the green rider to be helpful. Since she'd impressed very few people had been exactly accepting of her sudden change of status. Though as Devith said she would simply have to prove she deserved her place among the dragonriders ranks.

Allaxon and Empreth arrived and happily received their riding knots. "Look Empreth! These mean I am yours! Isn't it exciting!"

"Of course you are mine, mine. No one else would do but you."

Allaxon glanced around hoping for someone to talk to. Empreth wasted no time in ambling over to the table full of dragon food.

"Look Allaxon mine, how delicious this looks. They went all out for us and well they should. We are that important." She nodded her little green head and looked back at him lovingly.

"I'll be sure to pick out the choicest pieces for you my love."

Tessth’s tail waved a bit irritably as she looked over Selene’s choice of clothes, Normally I wouldn’t complain, Mine, but I believe that tonight would be a good night to look like your gender. This is an important night for both of us. The Crimson had been oiled and was quite comfortable at the moment.
Selene frowned and sighed, “You’re right, Tessth… but I really don’t have anything that nice.”
The Crimson left the bed and walked to the closet looking at what she could. Mine… did you know about this package in the corner here?
“Package?”
That would be a no. Tessth gingerly pulled the box from the closet and waited for Selene to grab it.
There was a small note on the box. From Mom. Selene smiled lightly and opened up the box only to gasp and stare at the delicate fabric inside. A soft lavender dress complete with matching shoes.“How did she afford this?”
Try it on, Mine, and be happy for the gift.
Selene nodded and slid out the tunic and pants she had been wearing and into the dress. This was the night that Selene did take care of her appearance. She brushed through her hair; though it was still a bit wild it had less of a boyish quality. Still she was feeling awkward. “Do I look all right?”
Tessth’s eyes swirled in pleasure, You look lovely, do not worry. I believe we are ready, Mine.

Selene made her way down to the feast and smiled widely when she received her rider's knots, she felt a surge of happiness and pride. Then the gold rider made her speech. She listened intently and nodded. She did not want to harm Tessth by forcing anything. She moved around the r After a moment she smiled as she saw Dizzian. They both moved to where the green rider was. “Hey, Dizzian, enjoying the feast?” She paused as she saw Hekate and smiled. “Hello, Hekate.”
Tessth moved to Courath’s side, Hello, sister, I see our brother has wasted no time in flaunting himself.

EDITED

Courath's eyes picked up speed as she thought of her bonded. Her quiet voice spoke of hidden strength and an immeasurable fount of warmth and love for hers. ~All that and so much more. ~ She turned her sapphire gaze up to Dizzian, her look almost that of an adoring mother. Dizzian was her anchor, her port in the storm and also her charge. She would care for an guide the young woman as long as they both had breath.

Though eventually the silver would outgrow her, at the moment they matched same as their riders. Courath held no awe or adoration for her clutchmate and his posturing and words would not earn it from her. She would follow him eventually... if he proved himself brave and a worthwhile personage to follow. ~ And yours? You seem to compliment each other. It is well that you found her among the crowd. ~

Oh she was still bubbly but the frivolous foam had instead turned to a low simmer. "I should say it was! But I am happy for you. I couldn't not be with the joy of having found Courath at last still fresh in my heart." She started physically as she felt Devith's voice within her mind. Still unused to that of her own partner, the intrusion shook her. She recoiled for a moment till the third presence removed itself. "He's quite bold." Her grin returned as the meaning of his words struck though. The remembrance of his Touching and then his late entrance were entertaining. She had no intention to mock him for it though. Hekate took care of that herself and it wouldn't do to straight up anger the woman or her fiery mate.

"I've moved into the Weyrling barracks but it has been a change. I used to live in my parents cabin. My mother's a Weaver and my father a Beastcrafter. " Her change of topics was a little jaring but she accepted it. Even with the subtle undertones of the two women sizing each other up she didn't feel the conversation was souring. She considered Hekate's question. "I'm a weaver not a healer. My knowledge of oils and herbs is scanty at best. I know of some stuff we use to waterproof bandages and cloth for carry sacks but I doubt it would be good for dragonhide. I DO know that some riders have their own privet stashes that they use. I don't know what it is or from where they get it though. Only that it's something they pay for out of pocket. I don't even know if it's any better than the weyr provided oil. I trust the weyr not to supply an inferior product though. The dragons are our livelyhoods. It's our first job to do everything in our power to ensure their health and strength." Spoken like a true weyrbrat. Trine born and raised Dizzian held great pride and loyalty to her home.

"If I might suggest though, you may be using too much. It may not seem like it but their hide DOES soak in a lot of the oil, it won't appear to coat their hides but it's there." Dizzian hoped she wouldn't take it as critism. She'd realized Hekate wouldn't have taken ANY candidate lessons at all and Dizzian had had six full turns to memorize them all. Infact she had only just passed her 18th Naming day when Brakiath's clutch hatched. With Courath's subtle encouragement, Dizzian thought she might instead be able to take the young woman and her bold silver under her wing so to say and help them adjust to this new life they were ill-prepared for. Yes, that might be a better tact, make allies out of them rather than rivals.

Though Hekate had a beauty all her own that Dizzian could grudgingly admire, she felt sure that should she want a boys attention, she could get it. It was not a boy who next approached her but instead another girl, this one she'd met just the day before. "Selene! Hello again!"

Courath chuckled, her welcome of the little crimson warm. ~ Oh indeed though we all have reason to look and feel our best this evening ~
PostPosted: Mon Jun 04, 2012 11:14 pm

For a moment Devith quieted watching as Courath eyed Dizzian with rapt attention, the same calculating look as his rider lay in his eyes though it was softened with care. While he could never fully grasp the relationship Courath and her rider had, for his and Hekates was a darker breed more full of fire and pride, he could still appreciate it. Devith had always had a good eye for beautiful things.

It pleases me that my siblings have chosenwell. And indeed it did please the silver. For any sibling to himself would be strong and for them to choose fitting riders meant the pairs strength would double. Trine needed strong riders and he would lead them into a glory filled future. This Devith was sure of.

When Courath asked of Hekate Devith paused considering her words with care. Looking up at his rider for a split second Courath would get the barest glimpse behind the silver's more vain and egotistical nature. There was no soft or motherly love in his gaze. There was love yes, but a deeper darker kind. A kind of fire and passion that threatened to break from Devith's gaze at any moment and set all of Pern ablaze.

I'd have torn the entirety of Trine asunder if I had to to find Mine. Devith replied his voice a low intense whisper as his eyes whirled fast and hard with the emotions the mere thought of not having his invoked.

Sensing her lifebond's distress Hekate bent down hugging Devith to her side as the silver leaned his head into her his eyes flickering shut for a moment as if savoring these brief seconds in time. There was no feast, no Dizzian or Courath, in that moment it was only Hekate and Him and that was all he needed in the world.

I'll never leave you Devith. Hekate silently assured him stroking the dusky markings on his head with her fingertips smiling at the thrumm of love and warmth that filled her chest from her dragon. Then it was as if time began moving once more and looking back up at Dizzian she smiled.

"Bold as a bronze and I wouldn't change him for a hundred Lord Holders in all their finery." Hekate joked, but some part of the wily woman's voice rang true. Both dragon and rider were vain creatures, but no amount of marks would lure her from Devith's side.

Standing quietly Hekate listened to Dizzian rattle on about her family and the Weyr, her loyalty playing out loud and clear in the girl's voice. It was obvious Dizzian was Trine born and raised around the Weyr and very very proud of it. She also didn't seem to hold any of the niggling doubts or questions Hekate warily kept watch over.

When Dizzian spoke of her possibly over oiling Devith it was surprisingly not Hekate who was insulted, but Devith himself who flared his wings slightly narrowing his eyes as he leaned protectively into his riders side.

Mine oils me perfectly. Devith replied, leaving no room for doubt in His rider's skills in his voice. Myhide itches, the oil does little to help the itch. It does not soak in well. The silver rumbled his tail flicking in displeasure at what he had to contend with.

"I know Devith. I know. We're going to fix it." Hekate soothed though her gold amber eyes held a stormy look of her own at her dragons displeasure. "I've been using the oil that was left for us in the temporary Weyrling quarters. Perhaps we simply got a bad batch? Then again I heard rumors that silver's hides are notoriously fickle. I wouldn't dare to go so far as to say the Weyr would provide oil of lesser quality." She replied doing her best not to snap back at Dizzian. The girl's blind trust irritated her, but Hekate was determined not to let it show.

In the back of her mind though she had a niggling idea as to the source of her oil problems.

Glancing over at Tessth Devith greeted his sister with a polite nod though unlike with Courath he made no move to pose. He instead remained protectively pressed to Hekate's side his eyes whirling in displeasure though her words had soothed him somewhat. Still even half curled and pressed to Hekate's side Devith still held an eerie predatory elegance to him. Let her think he flaunted himself. He had every right too. For he was the best and soon all would see, but first to attend to the problem at hand.

Courath nodded in acceptance of his bold statement regarding Trine. She couldn't disagree with him on that point. Even the tamest among them, if they sensed Their's wouldn't hesitate to rain disaster down on those who stood in their way. It was only those unfortunate souls who's intended wasn't there at all that went between. Such as their poor green sister. Devith wouldn't have seen her but Courath well remembered the dark spot on her otherwise glorious first day. The death of the candidate, though sad wasn't as important to her as the loss of the Eye of the Storm green.

Dizzian was skeptical but grudgingly accepted the possibility. "It could be though why it would be different from the rest of ours is beyond me. If you want to bring it by the weyrling barracks later I can check it out for you." She looked down at Devith with sympathy. " She hadn't heard his words but he was obviously agitated. "It's that bad huh?" Poor guy, if it was the oil, it was no fault of his rider's that he was uncomfortable, though he bore it well. She stroked Courath's neck. Though it appeared dry, she had her own luster. Owning flits had prepared Dizzian in a way she hadn't realized, giving her practice in taking care of growing and itching hides.

Courath took a couple steps away from her rider, eyes taking on a hint of concern. ~ You're sure it's the oil then? ~ She sat back down in front of him, within touching distance but leaving their personal space intact.

Tessth walked over to her brother, If the oil is no sufficient enough, tell your rider to ask for a newer batch, I would hate for you to become ill as a result, brother.
Selene paused and looked at Devith and Hekate, "That is unfortunate to hear Hekate. I'm sure you've been doing your best to care for him and from what I've seen. He seems after you've oiled him. However, Dizzian is right, you should have someone check on that.
