Gene was pretty happy with how their conversation was going - she hadn't said anything stupid, Lizzy was quite receptive and seemed to catch things quickly. All in all, this was promising to be a pretty good day. When Lizzy showed Gene the picture, she honestly expected to see another Demon, or maybe a Monster. She pictured a tall, paleish boil with soft eyes and a gentle smile.
Instead, she saw the Hellchild that had pushed her into a lake and called her a baby piggle. The same boil she'd kicked in the balls. Gene's vision went red, bloody red and blurred, irises turning the same red to reflect her anger. Spikes threatened to erupt out of her arms, peaks showing through at some points. She took a deep breath, concentrating on getting her emotions under control. Focus, Genevieve; don't be mad at Lizzy for being Mac's ghoulfriend.
What the hell did she see in him, though?
"Oh...I know him. He, ah...must have been having a bad day, or something, when we met though." She looked off to the side, willing her eyes back to a silver color. They ended up a very dull pink.
Close enough.

Lizzy stared as Gene's appearance changed, taken aback by how sudden it was. Was that something that all ghosts could do? She had actually never seen anyone do that before though... All she could do was sit there and fan the ghoul with her hands, as if it could help her calm down.
"A-ah..." The ghost's anger actually started to make a bit of sense the moment she revealed that she knew Mac. Almost immediately, Lizzy sighed, her smile sheepish as she took Gene's hand, patting the back of it, "He's not the easiest person to get along with, is he? When we met for the first time, I was so upset and angry at him... He's a good friend though, once you get to know him! Sometimes, he has good intentions, but his methods are..."
She drifted off and sighed again, shaking her head, "But Mac will be Mac..."

Gene greatly appreciated Lizzy's attempts at calming her down and consoling her, and it slightly worked. Her eyes went back to a more silvery color, only retaining flecks of red. She really needed to work on not letting her emotions mess with her shifts. Another calming breath, and Gene put on her best smile.
"Oh, well, if you ended up his ghoulfriend, I'm sure he's fine. Maybe shoving people in a lake is just his way of saying 'hello!' Bullcrap. She knew it was bullcrap. The kid was evil, but she wouldn't say that in front of his ghoulfriend - the one she was trying very hard to make good friends with.
"So, how long have you two been together?"

"He really is- He shoved you in a lake?!" Lizzy's eyes widened, her exclamation ending up in a sort of surprised squeak, "W-why did he do that?!" Words. She was going to need words with Mac soon.
Gene's next question made her pause, even if it was a really short pause; Mac broke up with her once, but they soon got back together after that... So she shouldn't count from there right? They had always counted it from the very beginning, so...
"Over a year now, give or take," She answered, smiling despite still feeling rather surprised - and mildly horrified, really - at the fact that Mac had pushed a ghoul into a body of water as greeting.

"I really have no clue; I was just sitting there with my feet in the water, and he just shoved me in. My clothes were okay - I just phased the water off." Gene shrugged slightly, not wanting to make too huge a deal about the whole affair. Yes, she still hated the Reaper for what he did and the names he called her - but she had taken her vengeance, and it seemed like more was coming his way via ghoulfriend. Meeting Lizzy was obviously a good thing.
"Wow, a year?! That's great! You two must really love each other." The Doppelganger used to dream about having that sort of relationship, but it seemed a bit far out of reach these days. Life was just to hectic to actually start a relationship in her mind. She gave Lizzy a sad smile, before looking at her nails. "I think the base coat is dry."

For some reason, Lizzy could definitely see Mac doing something like shoving an unsuspecting soul into the water... Mostly because she had been subjected to being unceremoniously dumped into the water before, when he was trying to teach her to swim.
Yup. She was definitely going to have words with him.
Taking Gene's comment about her relationship to be a compliment, she only giggled, blushing as she felt shy all of a sudden, "Thank you." Peering curiously at the ghoul, she couldn't help but wonder if Gene was looking sadder, compared to before, or if it was just her imagination.
"Ah! So it is!" She smiled, taking her hand again, this time applying the actual nail polish on top of the base coat. Casually, she asked, "Soooooo... What do you think about the boils in the school?"

Ah, good, more nail polish to make the Doppelganger feel like a pampered princess. She loved feeling this way; it took the weight of her stresses off her shoulders and just allowed her to relax. Working a job and studying was stressful, and so were boils. Especially when all the ones she had a small interest in weren't interested at all.
Sigh.
Oh well.
"You're welcome. And, ah, the school's boils, hm?" Suddenly Gene's cheeks were the color of ripe blueberries. Good game Lizzy, good game. "Erm...yeah, there's some cute ones. The ghosts on campus are... well, the only one I really know is Frost and... um, yeah he's kinda cute but we're really just friends. Mot is kinda cute too..."
Her feelings were totally being spilled on a stranger. A very warm, inviting stranger. Did this make them friends now? In Gene's book, it did.
"B-but you can't tell them I said that okay?"

"Frost? Ohh, I've never heard that name before," Lizzy's voice was lowered to a whisper, as if she was afraid that someone else might overhear them... Even if there wasn't anyone else around, since they were in her room. She giggled, "I'll have to agree that Mot is rather cute though!"
But Mac. Mac all the way across the sky, even if hers was a biased opinion; she just didn't think that it would be a good idea to mention his name right now.
"Oh, of course! What is shared today stays between us, and in this room!" She smiled, carefully setting one of Gene's hands into the nail dryer, and turning it on. She then started to apply the same comet nail polish on Gene's other hand, "I've noticed that most of the reaper boils are quite good looking, really..."
It is a mystery.

"Frost's a White Wolfos, Year Two! Really modest and totally respectful and stuff. His natural form is a wolf the size of a small horse, and he's so fluffy and warm and-" Gene stopped herself, realizing she was about to go on a rampant long speech full of feels and gushing.
Gushing was really not that great, especially when one was supposed to be 'not on the boil hunt.'
"I think it's just their inherent FEAR makeup or something, those Reapers. Maybe it's because they look like humans; so they're kinda exotic? Like...I dunno, I heard that Humans that are 'white'" she made air quotes "are really attracted to those who have a 'bronze' skin tone. Maybe it's kinda like that?"
Or, you know, Reaper boils were just inherently cute.

Lizzy just giggled, giving Gene a sort of knowing look; did she have a crush, perhaps? It sounded like a crush to her, but she didn't want to assume... After all, she could just be gushing because this 'Frost' person happened to be a good friend of hers; she would often talk fondly about her friends too, ghoul, boil or others.
"Ohhh, that's an interesting theory," She replied, finishing up with putting nail polish on Gene's fingernails. The hand that had been put into the nail dryer was removed, and replaced by the freshly painted nails, which were still wet, "I'm not sure how they would respond to being called exotic though... Exotic reapers! Exotic Mot!"
... Yeah, that just sounded kind of funny.

Gene giggled back, returning the look with the slightest of nods. "I'm really not out on the hunt though, if you catch my drift. Besides, I'd rather befriend someone before I try to do anything else."
She sighed, memories of her last relationship coming to the forefront of her mind. "I've already learned the lesson of jumping blindly into a crush. You get hurt, and you end up hurting them. It's just not too good of a deal."
She outright laughed at the statement 'exotic mot.' "Mot and exotic. Hoo, there's two words you never see in the same sentence." Chuckling still, she admired how great it felt to talk like this while doing ghouly things. It needed to happen more often.
