"ROCHHHHH," Ren all but wailed, twisting around in the water to shoot his friend a wide-eyed look - and in the process making a great deal of mess and noise and stumbling face first into the water. He shot back up almost instantly, gasping for breath, sputtering and feeling both drenched and stupidly shakey.
"I hate waterrrrrrr," he moaned, and attempted to keep his fingers from trembling as he dragged the net around a bit more, hoping to catch at least something. "Professor Malcom asked for a floresce, but I've had no luck so far."
Something brushed against his ankle again, and Ren jumped, splashing around noisily, his normally dark skin quite paler than usual.
"Did I mention I hate water?" he asked, and gave a slightly shaking laugh, clearly attempting to sound casual about the whole situation - and failing miserably.Quote: 21-35 : Something is tickling your ankle... In the water... What... It's probably just some seaweed right?

"It's a good thing I'm datin' the mermaid, not you," Roch said as he fought back a laugh. "Hey, we COULD go over to Amrita's--she's got a jackload of those fish--and we could pass it off as what you're lookin' for--I mean you're wet enough you could get away with it--" He jerked as he heard another splash behind him, then scowled and started forward in that direction, wondering if it was the fish--or something else. Like that giant octopus that had grabbed Danny way back in their snot year.

He let out a yelp as something touched his ankle, splashing, and then pushed his sopping hair away from his face and finished weakly, "I have this thing with water. Roch asked, jerking slightly as something brushed his ankle. He glanced down, tempted to go under and look, but he didn't. "Cuz I got this problem, and you seem like the right guy to ask about it."

"Yeah, man, she's a Johnny Danger fan," Roch said--his tone showing that it was a seriously BAD thing. "I HATE Johnny Danger--Johnny Danger hates me! It's like--she's joined the enemy camp!" He heard another splash behind him and he turned, now certain that his ghoulfriend was hearing his every word--but nothing was there. "And I don't know how to tell her WHY her taste in music sucks a**--but music is a really serious thing, y'know! You just don't listen to a four chord wonder who's a jacktard!"

"Well," said Ren, trying to focus on something other than the water - like Roch's current dilemma with Amphi. "What you could do is just explain that you don't like this Johnny Danger dude - I don't even know who that is, actually -and then explain why you don't like him."
He shivered unpleasantly in the water, his finger shaking slightly as he tried to keep his mind on one thing - just one thing. Roch and Amphi, not the water, not the terrifying, icy cold water he was currently standing waist deep in...
"Does she just like his music or s-something?" he asked, his teeth beginning to chatter with the effort of standing still. "I mean, it d-doesn't sound like a stupid p-problem to me. "It ain't just that," Roch said. "Me and Johnny--we have history. Not GOOD history. In fact we pretty much hate each others guts. Every time we run into one another we start makin' fun of each other--and if he were to find out that my super hot, super ditzy ghoulfriend had a fanghoul crush on him--" He shuddered, and it wasn't from the cold water, although he was starting to get a little cold too. "Man, if the opposite happened to me, I'd milk it for all it was worth--and I got no doubts he'd do the same." He saw a glint of silver, but when he looked closer he didn't see anything at all. ((I figure the silver seed's already claimed<3))

Focusing on Roch was much better than focusing on the water, though Ren dearly hoped he would catch the stupid fish sooner, rather than later.
"Well, just look at it this way," he said reasonably. "You're the one with the 'super hot, super ditzy ghoulfriend,' aren't you? She chose you, not him. And yeah, she might have crap music taste - from the sound of it, he doesn't seem like my type of music - but he's not the one squiring a beautiful lady around town, now is he?"

"Yeah, but think of it this way--I KNOW I ain't the greatest singer," Roch said, ignoring whatever was tickling his ankle. "But that's what I figured was one of the biggest reasons she chose me. Cuz I CAN sing. But--don't get me wrong, I hate the jacker passionately--but in comparison to his singing... I'm about the same level as his guitar playing is to me. And she's really big on singing--" He grunted and shook his head, frowning. "And then there's the idea of Johnny finding out that MY ghoulfriend likes HIS music. He'd never let me live it down."

Ren blinked owlishly over at Roch, momentarily distracted from his inner angsting.
"Well, I think you're great," he said honestly. "You're one of my favorite muscians, that's for sure. I like your singing; you're better at guitar, certainly, but I don't think your singing is as worse than you think it is."
He smiled a little, and shook his head. "Amphi likes you. She picked you, didn't she? I'm sure she likes you for more than just your music. And besides, who cares what that Jacktard thinks? He can mock all he wants, but in the end, you're the one with the ghoul, not him."

Roch stared blankly as the fish got away. "Um... guess we keep lookin," he said, wading further in. Well... that sucked. He usually LIKED fish, too, he thought irritably as something tickled his ankle. This time he ignored it completely.
