Sasha's expression tightened slightly when Candace .. talked. Sasha felt the sudden urge to just. Leave. Especially when Candace went in for a hug. She couldn't resist giving the other woman a pat on the head before backing away from the embrace. It made Sasha feel a little better at least. In a childish, petulant sort of way.
"I'm not sure, I was.. kind of distracted with. Other things." Rin, for one, and her confession of like-like had had Sasha a little preoccupied. That, and spending time with Jerry. Candace had always been in the back of Sasha's mind, just. Well. Maybe not always.
"Thanks, Candace. Anyway, I've um. I've got to get going, you know. Duties. And I'm sure you're busy. So ah.. thanks for the talk."
Sasha gave Candace a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
"Maybe we could um. Catch lunch sometime. Or uh. Something."

The headpat got her to open her eyes, blinking a few times and watching Sasha as she moved away. Candace pouted. Damnit.
"Mm.." She was sure she knew at least two of those things. Candace's expression stayed calm. She was letting go. She was moving on. Candace had other things to occupy her, just as Sasha did. "Huh? Aw, really? You sure? I'm really not that busy, I was just..." Candace watched her, catching the smile.
She was still unhappy. What the ******** was Candace doing wrong?! Why did she feel like she suddenly had to tip toe on ******** eggshells?
The stammering was like they had never had their talk. Candace resisted the urge to ruffle her hair in frustration. Remember the last time you did that, Candace. It took forever to fix it. "Alright~. Yes, we should do lunch! You also promised me a trip, remember?" Candace reached out a moment to give her a goodbye hug but thought better of it, bringing her arms back as if she had been burned and instead slipping her hands into her pockets. "I'll see you later, then."
Maybe a trip together off the island would help.
Something.
Anything.
