"He does look very much like myself. We both tend to take after our mother in our coloring. We have two other brothers, and they both tend to take after our father. I have no idea where my younger brother is at the moment. He tends to go off exploring on his own from time to time, which is probably where he is now." Raz was glad he didn't have to lie about any of what he had just shared. It was true he didn't really know where Nasu was, though it was likely he was back home with their father and the rest of the herd. What he really wanted to do was see his mother again. He missed her terribly, but he wasn't entirely sure he would be welcomed in her neck of the island, what with her serving the King and him being aligned with the Six, albeit against his better judgement.

"That is interesting. My sibling and I both resemble our parent in some way, I got father's patterning and mother's coloring where my sister got the exact opposite. Thereby she inherited the full Dark family name and because of my coloring I was called Darksun. We have...interesting naming methods in our herd." Kai said. Some didn't carry the dark name at all for whatever reason. Usually because they had no hint of the dark coloring like his cousin Adonis.

"Interesting," said Raz, "as far as I know, there is no special naming protocol in our herd. Parents are free to name their children as they see fit. None of our names, that being my brothers and me, are in any way named after our parents. I suppose if I were to ever have offspring, I might like to see one named after me in some way." His thoughts again were drawn back to the capra, Freezia, and their meeting. It had been some time since their mating, and if she had born children, they would be grown by now. Did he have offspring roaming the island that he was unaware of? If he did, were they aware of who their father was?

"I would like my children to be named after me too. Although I havent found the right female yet. You know any likely candidates?" He asked. "Perhaps some that arn't your particular flavour? I know a few mares but most are lifemated or some such other restriction."

Raz had to give his question some thought before he answered. He had not really been interested in any of the available females in the herd he'd grown up in, and even if there were those who were unattached, Kai was not likely to ever meet them. "I honestly don't," he said. "I haven't come across any females lately, to be able to get to know them. Seems all I ever run into are males, including my brothers. If I remember correctly, my parents had two filly's in their last mating, but I wasn't there when they were born, but I believe they named them Jolana and Sharizad.

"True, very true", he replied. "One day I hope to find a female that I can truly give my heart to. So far I have struck out on that goal, but I have not given up all hope." He was getting antsy, standing here talking to Kai. He felt the need to stretch his legs, so he invited Kai to go for a run with him. "What say you we go for a run? I could use the exercise, and it's a nice enough day, here under the canopy." Hopefully the stallion would agree, otherwise Raz was inclined to take his leave of him and go his own way.

"Sure I could go for a quick jaunt. Where should we head? North? South? Into the forest?" Kai was quite happy about the prospect of a run. They were so refreshing and they felt good too.

"There is a trail that leads north toward the mountains. Let's take that for a bit. We don't have to go all the way, but far enough that we work up a sweat." Raz turned and crossed the stream where it was shallow, climbing out on the opposite bank. He turned to the west and headed for the trail he had found a few days earlier. It was wide enough that both of them could run side-by-side. As he reached the trailhead, he waited for Kai to catch up. "Just say the word if you've had enough, and we can stop." With that, he took off down the trail.

Kai trotted after him. "I warn you, I went through daily training with two very powerful and stubbron parents. Not to mention my sister. Little hellion that she is." Kai could say this because he was just as hellishly inclined. Countless were the times that his parents had rolled there eyes at the squirmishes and mae pullings and nips that occasionaly had patches missing out of their offsprings manes. Kai happily gained his stride beside the purple stallion and they looked like a rather uncolorcoordinated pair.

It felt good to be running through the woods. He hadn't realized just how long it had been since he had given himself a good workout. It had been weeks since he had left the company of his brothers and his parents. It hadn't been easy telling Nasu that he was not returning south to the herd. His little brother was still loyal to their father, and their father was still loyal to the Six. Raz hadn't completely come to terms with his new-found freedom, and he was hesitant to tell any stranger about his past affiliations. Better to leave them thinking he was aligned with the King, or neutral like his mother and his other two brothers. His mind was wandering, and he came to the sudden realization that he had no idea where they were.

Kai had been looking around at the trees and the meadows and thoroughly enjoying himself. He noticed a hesitation in the purple's step. "Hey, hey," he said coming closer. "Just out of curiousity...you have any idea where this path leads? I hope it a lake. I could so use a swim."

Raz stiffled a curse, as Kai asked his question. He had absolutely no idea if the trail they were on led to a lake or not, but how to let his running partner know without admitting that he was lost? "A swim? I suppose a swim would be nice right about now. I've worked up quite a sweat." He was trying to delay the inevitable, and failing miserably. Oh well, he thought. Better to get it over with, than drag it out. "As a matter of fact Kai, I believe there used to be a small lake through the trees up ahead. We will have to leave the trail and make our way through the woods to reach it. Follow me." He had no idea if there would be a lake along the way or not, but if not, he would just feign forgetfulness.

Kai bounced along after him happily. He was really looking forward to the swim that was apparently just at the end of this lovely trail. Perhaps there would be a bunch of Sairys floating around the water or an antelope there to drink. "Do you think there will be any wildlife there?" He asked curiously of his running partner.

"Wildlife? Well, we are in a forest, so it would seem reasonable to assume that there might be creatures about. Why? Do you have some sort of fascination with them? Personally, I find them bothersome. I would tease my little brother about chasing rabbits. Not that he really did, but it was fun to see his reaction when I told others that he did." They'd been moving through the underbrush, having left the trail a ways back, and Raz had yet to see any sign of water, let alone a lake large enough for them to swim in. He decided to go a little further before informing Kai that the lake must have dried up.
