Was it her, or was her smile starting to become permanent? She clapped her hands together when she heard Zhi’s declaration. Jay even began to bounce up and down. “Really? Oh wow no one has ever told me before becauseyouknowtheydon’tlikeitwhenIkisslikethatsosuddenly but now you said it’s okay and you’re gonna do it too and I’m really happy and excited!” Jay was so ecstatic she even jumped up to grab Zhi’s face and peck him on the lips a second time. No regrets.

“Yay! I’m glad you like them because I like them a lot too.” She squeezed the other horseman as tightly as she could. For a war horseman, it was pretty darn tight, but it was merely an expression of her affection. A painful one. Jay hoped back as Zhi raised his arms into an unusual pose. “Oh?” Eyes filled with wonderment, she imitated the soldier’s pose and froze for a moment while she pondered.

Jay decided she liked this pose and smiled.

Arms still raised in creeper pose, one hand gave Zhi a thumbs up. “Good idea!” Finally she lowered her arms to deposit her current findings onto the cloth. As she stepped back, the bluejay cocked her head at the current pile of supplies. “I hope it’s not too heavy for you.” She didn’t seem too concerned by the idea, however, since she casually tossed another slab of stone onto of the stone she had collected earlier. “Okay! Let’s collect all the things!”

Seeing Jay bouncing up and down inspired Zhi to do the same...which was honestly very strange to see, considering his stature, but it was pretty obvious by this point that he wasn't the most mature of conquest horseman anyways. "No, no! I think kissing people is the a wonderful greeting! It's just that people don't appreciate it enough, but I'm sure if you do it enough, they'll come to realize what a wonderful greeting it is and decide to pick it up too!" Which, obviously, would never happen, but apparently Zhi didn't know any better to think otherwise. His mouth split into grin at the peck, and he--awkwardly--tried to give the war horsewomen another hug while carrying all the objects in his arms. "Ahaha, thank you for teaching me about this!"

Despite the very, very tight squeeze, Zhi didn't seem too phased (though there was a moment where he twitched slightly, but he didn't emit any vocal complaints). "Yes! Perhaps I should keep my sleeves in a bow from now on?" He seemed to consider this seriously for a moment before laughing when Jay mimicked his pose, somehow managing to clap his hands together despite all the things that he held.

"Doesn't that pose make you feel cool!? It feels almost like...like you can fly, or something!" There was a pause as he glanced at her wings, and then he frowned thoughtfully, "Though I suppose you guys can fly anyways!"

Though he let out a little "oof" when the stone was thrown on top of the pile that he carried, the horseman let out a cheerful, "Nope, I can handle the weight!" before scouring the forest floor for more things to take. Hmm, well, there was some more clay, and a couple of branches, and--

--Ah, shoot! He hadn't set enough leaves beneath the clay, and now it was getting on his sleeves! Looking rather put out, the horseman stooped down and gathered another handful of leaves, stuffing it beneath the lump of clay. There, that should do it!

“Hmmmmm.” She rubbed her chin while she mulled it over. When Jay had been a tiny filly, most horsemen didn’t appear very bothered by her kisses, but as she grew older…”You think so?” She had been doing for it a while before she finally decided to stop, which relieved many of her War horsemen. “Don’t know if you’re right, so I’ll just not do it. But I’ll do it a lot with you! Okay? Since you’re okay with it!” Her wings stretched out, feathers happily puffed out as she jumped to hug him around the waist—pretty much the best she could do without jumping and consequently knocking the things out of Zhi’s arms. “No problem! I’m happy that you like it too.”

Her arms were still up in the air. “Oh! The bows are very pretty, so I think keeping them is a good idea. Especially because you won’t trip over them as much if you keep them that way.” She nodded knowingly.

An immediate grin at Zhi when he mentioned flying. “I guess, but not that interesting when I can fly anyways!” She considered something for a moment. “I would carry you so you could see what it feels like to fly too, but I don’t know how well that would work out.” Jay pouted, finally dropping her arms to the sides with a tiny plop. She turned her back to the Conquest horseman so she could gather a bundle of pine needles into her arms. Once she turned back around she noticed the clay on her sleeves and nearly dropped her things. “Oh no! Your sleeves are dirty now. We should find a stream to wash it in.”

Zhiqiang clearly had no problem with this kissing business, so he simply grinned down at Jay's at her proclamation. "Yes, I'm okay with it! And...hmmm, do you think that means I shouldn't kiss anyone else either?" Not that Zhi really seemed to pay much mind to whether his actions bothered others, but that wasn't the point here. Frankly, the idea of kissing everyone he met--especially Tseng, his fellow-Conquest horseman rival--was kind of...disturbing, even for him. But Jay was okay!

He would have hugged her back had it not been for all the objects in his hands, but he somehow managed to shift everything into one arm so that he could at least pat her on the back. "Yes, the bows are wonderful! Thank you very much for the good idea!" Others would doubtlessly say that he looked ridiculous but...well, at least he and Jay liked it?

...Not that...they were the best people to go to for opinions.

Zhi somehow managed to stoop down and grab a large slab of stone, shoving it beneath all the items that he held and using it as some kind of tray. Turning back to look at the horsewoman, his eyes lit up a little at her words. "Oh ho, maybe! Though I am taller, and probably a lot heavier..." He trailed off with a hint of disappointment in his voice before his gaze snapped back down to his dirtied sleeves. "...Oh, a stream is a good idea! Any idea where we can find one?"

“Hmmm. If they don’t want a kiss then you shouldn’t kiss them.” Frowning, she put her hands on both of her cheeks and squished them together. Why was she doing it? Jay didn’t know. “I have a lot of people I want to kiss, but they won’t let me so I don’t.” Her lower lip jutted out at the thought. Somewhere in an alternate universe there existed a Jay who didn’t care about other people’s emotions and was a kissing fiend, but not in this universe.

She beamed and patted Zhi on the back too. This time the war horsewoman didn’t put as much force into it as the previous one. “Your welcome! Bows are very good ideas. Bows are cool.” She nodded her head knowingly.

Without a doubt, this couple was going to drive some horsemen crazy in the future someday.

Jay frowned. “That’s true.” Her face lit up and she gently put down her things. “Oh! Let me go look!” Once the supplies were out of her arms, she jumped and flapped her wings. The warrior reached for a tree branch and half-climbed-half-flew her way through the treetops until she managed to get a decent viewpoint of the area. Humming softly, she spun around a few times before she noticed a stream. “Over there!” She began to make her way back down. “If you go in that direction!”

Somewhere along the way she had somehow landed on a hollow tree.

…how did that happen? She looked down at it. “Hey! Let’s use this as a boat and sail down the stream!” Best idea ever.

...Jay had a point, Zhi had to admit. Maybe it would be best if he kept this kissing business to whoever wanted to be kissed? ...But did that mean that he would have to ask before first? Even for the strange horseman, asking someone whether they wanted to be kissed seemed a little awkward. After a moment of thought, the man simply shrugged, lips spreading into another grin. "Well...to each their own, I guess! They don't know what they're missing out on!"

He nodded sagely at Jay's words--yes, bows were indeed cool! Those who disagreed were either simply in denial, or had no idea about what was cool and what wasn't. In other words, their sense of fashion simply wasn't as fabulous as his and Jay's.

Poor, poor fashion unconscious people.

He watched after her in awe as she scaled a tree in search of a stream, his expression eager when she called down at him. "So there is a stream here? That's lucky!"" And it didn't sound it like it was too far either! He turned to look in the direction that she had pointed in, only to turn back to see Jay perched on a hollow tree. Her next idea was a brilliant one.

"Ooooh, yes, let's!" Zhi began to jump up and down in excitement, flailing his arms. That is, until he noticed that the hollow tree seemed...well, there seemed to be a small hole in it. It wasn't huge, but it was definitely enough to flood the thing with water if they tried to use it as a boat. For a moment, Zhi worried that their plan was suddenly ruined, when he suddenly got an idea. Spotting a bit of sticky sap on one of the nearby trees, he gathered up as much as he could before proceeding to stuff it into the hole.

"There!"

It was certainly a conundrum, a kissing conundrum. Jay didn’t like conundrums. They made her head hurt after a while, which was why she usually tended to avoid those kinds of problems altogether. It was much easier to not kiss even though she wanted to kiss. It gave her less headaches.

“I know!” she chirped. “Super lucky!”

She gladly jumped and flailed along with the Conquest horseman, but stopped when she noticed him giving the tree an odd look. “Something wrong?” She watched him grab some sap and stuff it into the hole. Things began to click in her brain and her face lit up. “Oh! Wow, thanks ZhiZhi! I really didn’t notice that until now.”

Jay gathered up her collected supplies and smiled at Zhi. She took a step toward the stream, but then noticed the things in his arms. “Hmmmm.” Her attention switched between Zhi, the tree, and her arms. This was a problem. After some thinking, she decided to give her things to Zhi—sorry, you are like the human man who carries all of the shopping bags, she might have even thrown in some extra pine needles—before walking over to the tree. It was taller than the bluejay, but it wasn’t too difficult to push it along. “Okay!” She hopped onto the tree and pointed in a direction. “The stream’s that way!” Once the announcement was finished, she hopped off and began to move the dead tree.

Although Zhi emitted a little "oof" upon having more items dumped into his arms, he didn't seem particularly bothered or willing to object (just like the docile male shopper with his female counterpart). Instead, he toddled after her obediently, struggling to peer over the pile of stuff as he watched her hop onto the tree and point in the direction of their destination.

"Okay! Let me just...uh..." He glanced between his full arms and the dead tree with a little frown. He knew that he should help, but with no free hands--

--Oh. Maybe he could just use his...legs?

Awkwardly shuffling up to the tree, Zhi planted a foot against it as he tried to help Jay along with moving it to the stream. He paused just for a moment to stoop down and pick up a branch that had fallen to the forest floor--maybe it could be used as a paddle or something later on?--before continuing his task. "Do you think that this could hold both of our weights?" Jay, maybe, but Zhi...well, the only way to know was to try once they got there!

“Oh, it’s okay ZhiZhi! You don’t have to help! I got this,” she chirped when she noticed the horseman’s legs pushing the tree along. It was mostly because the bird was worried the items in his hands—which had quickly grown into quite a sizeable pile—would topple over while he tried to multitask, but it didn’t happen. In fact, Zhi bent down to pick up a fallen branch before he continued assisting Jay.

“Ummm.” Jay attempted to consider the question while she kept pushing the tree toward the stream. “Maybe? I hope so.” She took a tiny break to wipe a few flakes of tree bark off of her palms, which now held tiny grooves. She perked up when she heard the sound of running water. “Hey, I think we’re close.” Urged on by their progress, she took a few steps back and ran toward the hollow tree to give it one final set of pushes that dragged it to the edge of a river. “We made it!” she shrieked gleefully as she hopped onto the tree and turned around. “ZhiZhi, get in! I’ll push it into the water.”

Woohoo, they finally made it! Had it not been for all the things in his arms, Zhi probably would have thrown his arms up in glee. In fact, it had been very hard for the horseman to resist the urge to throw his arms up anyways, items be damned. In the end, he settled for hopping up and down like an over-excited child.

"Yeeees, we made it!" Oh boy oh boy oh boy this was going to be fun! Nodding obediently, the horseman shuffled over and climbed into the hollow tree (but not before stooping down to pick up a random bone that was sitting beside the stream--maybe it would come in handy). Once he was done with that, he carefully set down the objects in his arms, ensuring that they wouldn't tip into the water before grabbing the big branch that he had collected earlier.

"Okay, I'll push off from here too! And then you jump on!"

Jay noticed Zhi picking up some bones. Her eyes lit up and she also bent down to pick some up. While the warrior honestly had no idea what they could use the tiny bones for, she was sure she could always at least incorporate them into some jewelry. In fact..”ZhiZhi! Let me make you something when we get back!” She waved her arms, letting the bones flop into the hole of the hollow tree. Hey! Maybe they could put all of their things in the hole so they wouldn’t have to carry it in their arms anymore. She nodded her head at Zhi while she walked toward the back of the tree to put both hands on the trunk. “I’m good at making jewelry stuff. I like to make them out of things.” She waved one hand once more to let the bracelet around her wrist jingle. “I made this from coins that I found.”

Then she shook her head. “On the count of three! One. Two. Three!”

Zhi's eyes visibly lit up at the offer, and he momentarily paused from what he was doing to turn and look at Jay. "Ooh, ooh, really?!" She would make something for him? He seemed excited at the prospect, but before he could begin bouncing up and down like and overeager child, an idea sudden hit him. "Hey--I'm pretty good with a needle, y'know? I can sew you something in return!" Maybe a little trinket? Or a whole outfit?

Well...they could probably discuss this after they got back with all this stuff. Preparing himself as Jay counted down, the horsemen took a deep breath and jammed the stick against the ground, pushing off against it. Once their makeshift raft had pushed away from land, he promptly dropped the branch at his feet, reaching out instead to grab the horsewoman and help her onto the hollow tree. And then...

...Well, hurrah! They were off! With the flow of the river carrying them back down the way they came, there was little for them to do aside from sit back, relax, and wait. Glancing at all the objects they had found, Zhi felt his lips spread into a grin. Not only had he managed to gather a fair number of items by fulfilling his gathering job, but he had gotten a new friend out of it to boot. Today had been a good day.

...Now how long would it take him to notice that his sleeves had come undone and were currently being dragged along in the water? Probably not until they were back.
