"Mr Your Majesty," Harrison said, easing back, "but Rex for short."

He was pleased by Jordan's solution. His tail wagged.

"Yuu. Oughta be easy enough to remember."

Harrison patted the side of his leg, and Killer perked up, getting to his hooves.

"...Okay. Let's get this Pet Show on the road. Rex needs something to fight with before we head on over to the Battledome. So we'll stop by the Scarefari first."

"Scarefari it is." Jordan had no intention of letting go; he couldn't do this at home, but he could and would here unless Rep objected. He adjusted his grip on Mango slightly to make sure the foxfire wasn't being squeezed too tightly. "What area are we headed to?"

Rep could still hardly believe that he was in another world, in a place where there was such things as scarefari and where he had a very feline version of Jordan draped over him. Being a hunter just kept being more and more than what he originally expected.

He didn't complain in the least either to practically wearing the cat demon like a scarf, it was nice to be able to relax a bit, and swatted him on the rear with his tail. "Are you wanting carried so we can keep up with wolfzilla?" he nodded at Harrison.

"Also Ace, just so you know, now I know how you felt when I was talking about computer s**t."

"You'll figure it out pretty quick. Computer s**t- I don't want to start on computer s**t." In spite of the declaration, his tail was wagging again. He had been ready to be oudoors.

The trees were twisted into horrified faces, and the sky was a hazy orange, but there wasn't any fog and more importantly, nobody to bother them.

He concentrated on staying slightly ahead and leading them along the winding path, compersively enjoying the easy contact between the pair.

Amityville lurked in the background, but he went on past the imposing spires and a strange, scattered collection of tents (those were new), brushing off the urge to follow the occasional husky or rotted smell in favor of the footpath.

The Trappers HQ was a squat building, with a series of lanterns leading to its door. He ducked inside, looking over the various trap-building materials and minipet guidebooks. The Scarefari Map was pinned to a corkboard on the far side of the wall, and Harrison went to go look at the different areas while Killer testingly nibbled a box of leather harnesses.

"Where you want to head?" he asked Rep. "These," he pointed to the Misty Fields and Dark Forest, "Are the beginner areas. It's where I caught Killer. But you're with me and Yuu, so we can take you to some of the other spots."

There were Beaches, Cliffs, and Graveyards, and most had glowing eyes painted threateningly over them, like a warning.

"Anything strike your fancy?"

"You still owe me a game rematch," Jordan pointed out, amused. Being outside without having to worry about what might jump out of the fog and try to kill him was relaxing, even if the weird spooky trees and occasional carnivorous plants were there as a reminder that yes, this really was another world. Little rustlings and noises in the brush on either sides of the path made his ears swivel back and forth attentively. His hearing was much sharper in this shape, though his vision was a little weird; he thought he might be partially colorblind.

Arriving at the Trapper's HQ confirmed that idea. He made a mental note in case it became relevant and let go of Rep somewhat reluctantly to go retrieve his trap kit from the lockers. It wasn't like he had many enchantments or bottles, but rebuying them would be a waste of seeds.

"The Peaks?" he asked as he rejoined the other two. "I don't mind. You good at climbing?" He put Mango down; the foxfire wriggled with excitement and started sniffing around the floor.

He nodded to Jordan. "Well I mean, I've not like, climbed many mountains and s**t in my time. But I've climbed a lot of other stuff, you kind of have to if you are going to be running away from the police a lot. I figure it can't be that different."



Enchantments sounded curious though, and he wandered over to have a look at the different kinds. He wasn't sure what the symbols and colours meant so simply gravitated towards simply what appealed. He pointed at a brightly coloured parchment with a sun on it. "Sun I'm guessing? And fire maybe too?" Couldn't go wrong with those two he figured, sun was by default awesome and he couldn't imagine a weak pet that was fire.

"If, that's not like..too much or anything." he had no idea of relative pricing here and despite his usual rampant greed about everything, he wasn't out to clean anyone out of their halloween funds.

"Yep, first one I got," Jordan said, opening the small bag that held his kit and extracting a red parchment, which he handed to Rep. Like the Sun enchantment, it had a faint innate warmth to it. "All yours. That combination ought to catch you something nice."

He slung the strap of the bag over his shoulder and leaned on the counter, addressing the attendant. "Hey, how much to watch my foxfire till we get back?" he asked. "He doesn't climb real well and we're headed for the Peaks."

"Five seeds," the ghost said without looking up from the magazine. "Seven if he's not housetrained."

Jordan dug five seeds out of his pocket and passed them over, then padded over to pick the foxfire up and scruff its ears. "Behave," he told it. "We'll be back soon."

Harrison put one large hand around Rep's waist, and gave his jaw a bristly kiss. Because he could. "Yep," he said. "The herpicorn's staying with us. He can handle a little rain."

He wolf-whistled, and Killer stopped worrying the leather, trotting to attention.

"Time for walkies, you two."
