It has come to my attention that we might just need an F.A.Q. post. So here it is.
Q: How are the students sorted into houses?
A: There is a totem pole in the Great Hall that the student will climb a short ladder next to, and rest their hands on it's top. The corresponding House totem will glow.
Q: Do the Houses have special ways of entering that protect against students from other Houses just being able to get in?
A: Yes. More information will be available about that soon.
Q: Is there a Room of Requirement?
A: No. Sorry. This is not Hogwarts. But there is a Floating Loft. If you see this message, pm me and I will tell you about it. Its something of a secret.
Q: Is there a town nearby, like Hogsmeade?
A: Ok, yes, there is. Habersnatch is only a couple miles south of Torbaen. It is a wizarding town.
Q: Ok, do they serve Butterbeer there?
A: No, that's a European thing. However, you should really try the Apple Scider. Yes, that's Scider. Silly muggles spelled it wrong.
Q: Why can't we start as older students?
A: Because there wouldn't be room to grow. wink
Q: There's no Forbidden Forest. Are there no scary dangerous areas with monsters around?
A: The Hills are off limits, as is the large Hot Spring, and both with good reason.
Q: Someone already took the Professor position I wanted.... wait, it's the rp creator. Can I play it anyways?
A: If I've got a professor in a position you wanted, pm me. Except for positions other people have taken, I only filled ones I felt were mandatory to have filled, and I can have mine switch (easily) to electives. The exception, of course, being the position of Headmaster and Deputy Headmistress. Those are taken. But even the Heads of Houses I have can be transferred.
Q: Why aren't there more questions?

Name: Katherine "Kitty" Myreil
Age and Class Year: 13, 3rd year.
Gender: Female
House: Niyol
Physical Description: Tall, thin and whispy. Looks frail, but is strong enough to be very fast. Very thin hair, either braided or loose. Not tomboyish, but definitely not girly in the makeup wearing, boy obsessed girly like every other girly girl her age. Bruises very easily, but heals quickly.
Traits: Very kind, but not very social. Cares more to spend time either on electronic devices or with animals, and since computers don't work with magic, spends much time with creatures. Very honest, but will simply ignore questions that she doesn't want to be honest about. Loves drawing pictures from everyday things.
Wand: Willow, 12 in. Unicorn hair.
Family/Bio: Muggle father, wizard mother. Her father had always loved fantasy and magic, so is very curious and doesn't care if he embarrasses Kitty to ask questions about the wizarding world. Her mother is strict, and expects the best from her.
Anything else notable: Has a small kitten, Squiggles (named for his almost drunken way of walking) that follows her absolutely everywhere, and will cry loudly if he is left behind even for five minutes, though it will only take five minutes for him to give up and curl up on her bed until she comes back. He also likes to play fetch with her balled up papers, and frequently crashes into doors. Squiggles is not very smart.

Character Sheet: Professors Name: Hector "Quick Fire" Smith Age: 30 Gender: Male Professor of: History House of Affiliation (if any): Was in the Paytah House when he went here. Currently Head of Paytah House. Physical Description: Dark skinned (Native American; Apache) and with short, non-traditional hair and bright orange-brown eyes, Professor Smith is impressive despite his 5'6" height. Traits: Often funny, but mostly strict, with an ability to go from kidding to serious in .2 seconds. His heritage makes him feel torn between tradition and typical American culture. Wand: Oak, Manticore hair, 11". Family/Bio: His mother says his father died when he was very small, but there were rumors around the rez that he was still alive, just not around. Was the first in his family line to inherit the magical trait, and attended Torbaen for all 7 years. After that, he did more work with history about his people, and eventually returned to Torbaen to teach American Magical History. Anything else of note: Dislikes hats, and students who fall asleep in class. Has the ability to smoke-tell; a Native American way of story-telling around a fire that allows the images to come alive in the smoke. However, he reserves this ability for special lectures or in certain instances.

Character Sheet: Professors Name: Peter Humphreys Age: Roughly middle aged (44) Gender: Male Professor of: Charms House of Affiliation (if any): Was a Tuwa when he went here. Physical Description: Brown hair (only a slight receding hairline; barely noticeable) and bright green eyes, pretty handsome. Thin and almost 6' tall. Tends to dress in green, yellow, or brown. Traits: Outgoing and personable, open and exciting. Serious when it comes to practicing magical charms and especially hexes. Wand: Yew, 14", Dragon Heartstring. Family/Bio: His father was a muggle, mother a wizard, and his sister a witch, the oldest brother a muggle. Grew up in the state of Washington, where his parents and muggle brother still live. Anything else of note: Has a terrible sweet-tooth; a grade can be swayed from a C+ to a B- with the right amount of sweets (anything but chocolate; he's allergic). Favorite colors are green and yellow.

Character Sheet: Professors Name: Sally Miller Age: 30 Gender: Female Professor of: Transfiguration House of Affiliation (if any): Odahingum. Serving her first year as Odahingum's Head of House. Physical Description:Blond hair, light blue eyes, and small in stature (5'2" and thin), Professor Miller looks much younger than her age and has actually been mistaken for a student more than once. She hopes that this year, her status as Head of House will change this. Traits: Believes in the fluidity of the world, and while she doesn't know everything, is prepared for practically anything. Tends to keep small various items tucked into pockets of her robe and cloak at any time (even her hat) so that when she walks, she tinkles and clinks. Wand: Willow, Unicorn Hair, 10". Family/Bio: Born into a magical family, and raised in Canada, Sally is quite astonished by the desert. But, being one of 7 children, she needed a place of her own, and sought a teaching position at Torbaen ever since her graduation (but has only been working there for 7 years; there were no open positions until then). Anything else of note: Again, tends to keep many random things in her pockets at all times. Has, on many occassions, assisted in the medical ward.

 Character Sheet: ProfessorsName: Austin Shephard Age: 63 Gender: Male Professor of: Care of Magical Creatures House of Affiliation (if any): When Austin attended Torbaen, he was in Tuwa and has been it's Head of House for the past 40 years. Physical Description: Physically fit and quite brawny. Has several large and small scars over his body. Traits: Has little time for fools when it comes to teaching students about some of the more dangerous creatures (it's how he came to be so scarred) but otherwise is like a lovable uncle to most everyone he teaches. Wand: Texas Mesquite, Pegasus wing feather, 12 inches. Family/Bio: Austin is the oldest of 13 children and the only one with magical powers to be born of muggle parents. Leaving home to go to Torbaen was hard for him since he had wanted to help take care of his siblings but after much urging from his parents, he finally relented and attended Torbaen where he excelled in Quidditch and Care of Magical Creatures. When he graduated from Torbaen, he remained home to help his parents work their farm, when he wasn't teaching at Torbaen, as the youngest ones finished with school and moved away. He had married his school sweetheart but they had been unable to have children so they became caretakers of normal and magical creatures both until his wife was killed when a manticore went on a rampage. Though it was the cause of his wife's death, and his many scars, Austin never gave up on caring for magical creatures. Anything else of note: Austin does have a room in the building, he also part time lives in a little shack out on the grounds where he can better watch over the creatures he gathers for his classes. Extra credit is given to those who happen to come across any animal that may be injured and brought to Austin while harsh detentions are given to anyone found guilty of harming any animal

  Character Sheet: ProfessorsName: Kyra Roshan Age: 22 Gender: Female Professor of: Potions House of Affiliation (if any): Had attended Niyol when she was a student. Declined the position of Head of House. Physical Description: Her eyes are actually rainbow colored (see the bio section for why). Traits: Can come off as quite batty but is quite the intellectual when it comes to potion making since she doesn't want to repeat the same mistake again. Wand: Lacewood, Unicorn hair, hidden within her staff Family/Bio: Kyra is the middle of three children from an old magical family and up until the year before she attended Torbaen, was thought to be a squib (a powerful hay fever sneeze put her on the the roof of the family mansion). During her first year at Torbaen, she attempted to alter a potion--this caused it to backfire into hers and n**'s eyes--forever changing them into unusual colors. Since then, Kyra had vowed to find a way to reverse the process and actually provided several potion making breakthroughs to the magical world. Her most successful potion is an easily made antidote that has the same curing properties as a bezoar but can be made from easily obtained items. Anything else of note: Has a small tic that pulls at the corner of her mouth occasionally and can be found muttering to herself in the halls.

  Character Sheet: StudentsName: Wulfric Zeppelin Age and Class Year: 11, 1st year Gender: Male House: Niyol Physical Description: Whip thin and very pale Traits: Quite shy and slow to make friends. Usually gets picked on a lot. Quite excelled at flying. Wand: Birch, Basilisk fang, 12 inches Family/Bio: Wulfric comes from an ancient magical family that can trace its lineage all the way back to Merlin. His parents and his siblings are all strong willed, overbearing people that consider Wulfric weak willed and barely acknowledge his existence except when he's in their way. It was really quite no wonder that when Wulfric was accepted into Torbaen that his family was astonished. Anything else notable: Has a Nimus 2002 that was his older brother's hand me down broom.

Pay attention to me because I'm better than you" kind of aura and attitude. Wand: Blackwood, Basilisk fang, 13 Family/Bio: Ryu comes from an old wizarding family that can trace as far back as the 1800's. True to a certain British branch of the family, Ryu considers all Muggle born and "half breeds" to be mere trash not worth his time. Anything else notable: Usually has a sneer on his face.

Character Sheet: Students Name: Ellpha "Ell" Peipers Age and Class Year: 11, 1st year Gender: Female House: Odahingum Physical Description: Ell has naturally white hair, so she got her mom to use a spell to turn it a different color. She didn't actually get to choose the color per the spell, and so her hair is green, and the spell hasn't worn off yet. She was 8 when this happened. She is short (4'7") and slightly chubby (her mom says its still baby fat and that it should wear off at Torbaen with all the stairs). Her bright green eyes shift shades depending on the weather for the day. She often keeps her green hair up, since it seems to be a point of interest to others. Dresses in pink whenever possible. Traits: Shy but happy, quiet and interested in all sorts of things ranging from charms to creatures to potions to herbology (anything but history), she is excited to start at Torbaen. Wand: Cherry, Chupacabra Tail, 9". Family/Bio: Both her parents are wizards, and both were the first in their family line to be wizards. Her older brother is non-magical, and she has no other siblings. She is excited about Torbaen, but grew up in New Hampshire, and her parents went to the Boston Academy. Anything else notable: Brought a pet owl with her; her family owned two and so she got to bring the small grey owl to school to keep in contact with her family. Her name is Flumby. She bites strangers- will go out of her way to bite strangers.

Character Sheet: Students Name: Manuel Rodruigez III Age and Class Year: 13, 3rd year Gender: Male House: Tuwa Physical Description: Manuel has black hair shaved into a sleek wide strip down the middle (everyone in his hometown thinks his hair is gorgeous), and has deep brown eyes. His has a somewhat darker skin tone, as he is Mexican. He is medium height for his age; 5'5", and is of average build. Traits: Stubborn and a bit proud, Manuel likes to be the center of attention, and has a good amount of charisma anyways that helps him get the attention he wants. He is outgoing (obviously) and is more interested in sports (quidditch) than studying. Wand: Palm, Unicorn Hair, 13". Family/Bio: From a long line of Mexican wizards, he is still the first of his family to go to Torbaen (the rest went to local wizarding schools (with like 20 students) or were taught by their parents). His family expects him to return to Mexico and help teach at some of the local wizarding schools and improve the quality of life. He's... not sure he wants to do that. Anything else notable: Has his own broom; he brought the newest he was allowed; a 2009 Grande Vuelo (a premiere Mexican-brand broom).

Character Sheet: Students Name: Rosie Guteirrez Age and Class Year: 13; 3rd year Gender: Female House: Paytah Physical Description: 5'4", with bouncy shoulder-length black hair, and light mocha eyes, Rosie is pretty as a spanish rose. Her Mexican heritage lends her skin it's darker tone, which darkens more in the summer, out in the sun. Traits: Quick witted and a little selfish, Rosie is considered a snob. Coming from a long line of true-blood wizards dating back to before the colonization of Europeans to America, she expects to be treated special. Often keeps a clique of other students around to boost her popularity. The rumor is that her family is so influential that she will have a NARM job waiting for her when she graduates. Wand: Chupacabra tail, Oak, 14". Family/Bio: Comes from a long line of spanish and even native southern north American wizards. Has 3 brothers, one sister, and over 13 cousins. While most of her cousins attend Torbaen, only her younger brother does from her family. Her older sister graduated two years ago, and her other two older brothers are studying abroad. Anything else notable: Has her cat, Dulce Pies (spanish for sweet feet, because his two back feet are white) with her. This cat is a natural born hunter, and almost got thrown out last year for supposedly eating a number of other students' pets... but nothing could be proven especially.

Character Sheet: Students Name: Martin Guteirrez Age and Class Year: 11, 1st year Gender: Male House: Niyol Physical Description: Tall for his age at 5'3", he is almost as tall as his sister Rosie. Has the same dark hair, but has darker skin and lighter eyes. There is a softness and casualness to his attitude and it shows on his facial features; he hardly ever looks worried. Also, prefers to keep his red scarf with him at all times; is of sentimental value. Traits: shy and uncertain, Martin is not willing to accept what his family claims as the right of their people... to lead and rule. In fact, he is much more easy going, and would like to just enjoy life. Therefore, his family calls him lazy. Wand: Fairy wing, birch, 16". Family/Bio: Comes from a long line of spanish and even native southern north American wizards. Has 2 brothers, two sisters, and over 13 cousins. While most of his cousins attend Torbaen, only his nearest in age sibling, Rosie, attends Torbaen. His older brothers are studying in Africa and Europe, and his oldest sister graduated already. He is the youngest, and as all his older siblings take everything they want, Martin has made himself happy with what he could get; definately not the regular attitude of the family. Anything else notable: No pets. No broom. He just brought himself, and his supplies. Also, he is quite creative, and comes up with things by himself. Already shows potential for original spell creation. Keeps his red scarf with him at all times; given to him by his favorite cousin who currently lives in Brazil.

  Character Sheet: StudentsName: Steven Lamberty Age and Class Year: 12, 2nd year Gender: Male House: Niyol Physical Description: Barely 4 feet tall, has dark circles under his eyes Traits: Shy, quick witted and creative Wand: Hair from a Veela, rosewood, 12" Family/Bio: When Steven was born, the doctors were unsure if he would live as he was very small and frail. Surviving infancy, Steven's maladies continued to affect him throughout his life--sometimes at the most inopportune moment. He is only surviving child of 3 attempts, his siblings all died at a very young age due to various illnesses. He believes that his mother, a Veela, may have put a charm of some kind on him to help him survive. Anything else notable: Is allergic to most animals.
