Sweated not cried Luk 22:44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Lord Kilo Von Mortenson Golden Black Tea Eltanin Sadachbia Golden Black Tea "Spare the rod, spoil the child." This is the origination of that phrase... Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. One say to not discipline, and the original say's the complete opposite. Haha smile I'm not sure about that. Spoiling a child isn't usually considered a good thing and the way it's written "Spare the rod, spoil the child" could mean IF you spare the rod (don't discipline your child) then the child will grow up spoiled. Could act like a brat, not have good manners, become arrogant, etc. Obviously this is from back when people believed there was no other way. Now, being a little more open minded, I think we have the possibility of raising children better with less beatings. The important thing is to pay attention. What works with some kids won't work with others. What I meant was that both sayings tend to lead the reader to the same conclusion. 3nodding Thanks for the input though!

Qyp glitterboypilot Qyp Biggest misquote... "God HATES........." The only place I can find, God hates anything is Deuteronomy 16:22 22 and do not erect a sacred stone, for these the Lord your God hates. He detests somethings, but doesn't hate... Oh he hates THINGS... like idols... But that seems to be about it. And Leviticus is the only place I could think of with lots of detesting... This is taking it out of context, but these is one thing that a person at my church brought up Amos5 21 “I hate, I despise your religious festivals; your assemblies are a stench to me. 22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them. 23 Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. 24 But let justice roll on like a river,

rmcdra What non-existent Bible verse have you ever heard quoted? One of the non-existent quotes I hear quite frequently is "God helps them who helps themselves." This is found NO WHERE in the Bible. In fact, it's antithetical to the Old Testament, New Testament, and Gnostic scriptures. So share your non-existent Bible quotes. That one does make me laugh because doesn't the Bible say we can only conquer our sin (i.e. help ourselves) with God's help. razz I often heard growing up: "God takes care of babies and fools." I guess if you mean "fool" in the sense that Paul (or some disciple) called himself "foolish" for following God's word. But in the wordly sense of the word, no, you're pretty much screwed. Even Jesus knew not to jump off a mountain side just because angels often tended to him.

Qyp Amos5? What the crap is Amos5? Amos is a book of the bible, in the old testament, between Joel and Obadiah[sp?]. The person I was talking to, used that verse to say, God hates religion and religious holidays. Personally, I think it was taken out of context

The person I was talking to, used that verse to say, God hates religion and religious holidays. Personally, I think it was taken out of context I would say it's more routine, and repetitive behavior... and not putting your heart and soul into say, taking Communion. Like, Religion isn't something we should embrace, but it isn't something we should hate either. I liked how my pastor, does plan a lot of his sermons, but I also liked how every so often, he would just do it unplanned, and go with what God told him... Religion is bad if there is not spirituality, no real prayer, no real confessions, no real love for God. If you get me. Religion that is routine, with no heart in it, like a assembly line, is the Religion we should hate. And I now realize I really do not pay attention to the Old Testament... lol... But I do know that Psalms is a song... a very long song... So I think those people who definitely took it out of context need to look back at what is actually going on in the whole book of Amos... Which seems to be about sins of Damascus?

Bad people burn, get eaten, or turn into salt and good people blessed. New Testament... GOD IS LOVE! But hmmm... I suppose because there was no Hebrew words for spiritual stuff... like Angels were just called Messengers... so...
