Si-Shen kcbeach28 Si-Shen So long as they never let TESO effect the single player games at all, I am fine. I don't play MMO's they bore me, you play an every day person, compared to the hero. I have to admit, part of me hopes this dies. It says in Game Informer that it is a world where many heros were unleashed at once to take down Molag Bal... Oh yes, many hero's that accomplish nothing. I get Farmer Joe his Apple of Application and am rewarded, of course he has every person doing the same. No matter what you do, nothing actually has a real effect unlike in the single player game where once my character completes a quest its done, over, no more cheese. From what I gather of the articles I've read, it's going to be a lot like the single-player games in that you are the hero of your game. Once a major quest is completed, it affects your world and game. Your world isn't going to look exactly like everyone else's. Like if you conquer some major quest, that's still open to everyone else, but whenever you revisit that area, they'll treat you specifically like the hero, just like in the single-player version.
I was skeptical about the game at first too, but as soon as I heard you get to travel to every region in Tamriel, I was sold. I don't play MMORPGs and I am anti month subscriptions because I like to play a game guilt-free, knowing I'm not wasting money when I'm not playing and time when I am. But hey, this is Elder Scrolls. No such thing as wasting time or money!

I do understand that it is hard to make a game that EVERYONE won't do the same thing, but that is one of the things that bother my about MMOs. As for this, a monthly fee would be ALL that is required to stop me from getting it.

Yeah, unfortunately there's no way around the monthly subscription. But I think it'll be worth it. ^^ I decided against the pay-to-play Final Fantasies, but I am way too hooked on the Elder Scrolls to let this pass me by.
One other thing that has me a little URGH is the faction system. I always play high elves but my wife likes to play a khajiit. And since those two races are not in the same faction, can they not join a party together? To me, that's the biggest disappointment, if it turns out to be true. But as playing the "main quest" is optional and you're totally free to just roam, maybe you can do whatever you want, with whomever, and wherever you like. XD

I would love to play this game, but my computer is nowhere near capable of running it. I need a powerful gaming computer. From what I've heard, they will keep the traditional skills from the Elder Scrolls games, such as sneak, but I wonder how they will work in an MMO. Maybe for sneak, your character will be made transparent to other players based on your skill vs theirs. Nias the Wanderer sadly I hear you can't be a wherewolf or vampire in this mmo sad Well, keep in mind that Besthesda completely denied having werewolves in Skyrim, but eventually it was leaked out that one could become one by joining the Companions. So even if they claim that there are no werewolves or vampires, don't believe it until after the game comes out. Even if they aren't in the base game, surely they'll release an expansion that adds them in.

I really don't do well in multi player games. For me this all depends on if I can be an accomplished solo adventurer or if it's absolutely mandatory to join a party to finish the bigger quests.
I want to see Morrowind again, but I'll rage if I see another cliff racer. I know they are supposed to be extinct by the time Oblivion starts up, driven out by saint something or other, but I have no idea what era the MMO is supposed to be in.
It'll probably be impossible to implement any mods into an MMO environment. I'll miss my Mystic Elf character. emotion_0A0

Even after all this time, you're not curious to see what they'll do with the Cliff Racer? It won't be the same dice-roll based combat as before, you know. And they may not be quite so dense in population.

J R Quincy After thinking about it, I am probably going to play this game even though I have an extreme hatred for MMORPGs.
Why?
Because I love the world that Bethesda has created and the ability to wander through Morrowind with some cronies is just too sweet to pass up.
I agree with that one-hundred percent.

I've been playing and honestly it has a pretty close feel to an ES game.,,, only MMO I have any real desire to play. The Beta changed my mind.

It would appeal to some people, surely, but I can't stand it. I was so excited to try the beta, and it was garbage. Garbage with good lore and story mind you, but a game needs to have compelling, you know, game play, which I can't find in it. It's just like every other MMO-- You pick a race and/or class, and you have set abilities you can learn. Which is boring.
I was hoping for something more along the lines of Oblivion or Morrowind where we could make custom classes based on the skills we like best, but still not be forbidden from using other non-class skills. The absence of that true freedom, that is why I don't like it.
I'll gladly wait for TES VI.

I'll gladly wait for TES VI. I think the lack of that comes down to the sheer difficulty it would be in an MMO to properly control that. You wouldn't have bugs that just affect 1 class but several, and possibly have them cause issues for people not even using the skill. Many of the skills are there, they just get grouped up with others, personally I was not expecting TES made online, I knew some changes would have to be made.

Of course some changes would have to be made to make it exactly like every other MMO on the market, 'tis only unfortunate that it was done rather poorly compared to what it could have been. It appears that this isn't the time for a revolution amongst the MMO genre (which is necessary at this point, to be honest), which is what this game should have and could have been-- revolutionary. Instead, it just copies off of older MMOs, for the most part.
Because what I described IS out of control, which directly contradicts what you said about this game being controlled-- the point being that creators of MMOs are trying to control the players and force them into being certain molds and types of characters, which defines nearly every MMO where you choose a predefined class with predefined skills.
The glory of old-school TES was that you could make poor decisions, even with choosing skill sets, but it was still the player's freedom to do so, even if it made the game harder. Some players would have it easy in some ways, but that would make it harder in other ways. It also allows for unlimited replay-ability, since each new character can have nearly endless, unique permutations of chosen skills.
People say balance this, balance that, but true freedom is balance enough.
I am aware that the skills in TES:O were "grouped up," my point was however that only classes with those certain skills can use those certain skills, rather than the freedom this genre used to represent, as I explained in my first post.
However, you are correct in that problems with skills could affect nearly every player, if not every player directly or indirectly... but the same could be said of any skill in any MMO.
And you have to realize, in the hypothetical Morrowind/Oblivion-Online game scenario, every player has their own "class." There is no true "class." All a "class" is to the player is their unique combination of chosen skills, nothing more. So really, if there was a problem with a skill that needed to be changed, they could just change the skill and every player that utilizes that skill would essentially have their problems solved. So there is no need for developers to have anything to do with "class" other than make some example pre-defined and NPC classes, exactly like Morrowind and Oblivion. They left the creation of each "class" up to the players.
Sorry about the rant, I'm just inconceivably disappointed with the new addition to the series and I like to make sure people understand why.
