Scampering out of the way of the attack Rainier lounged at Zyk again. Fangs flashing, eager to sink into the offending zubat.

"Zyk!" Zinnia cried out in alarm when yet another critical hit landed on her beloved zubat. He was barley conscious now; this opponent was far too strong! Their only hope left was to disable it. "Supersonic!" she commanded desperately.
Zyk emitted the high-pitched squeaks, aiming as best as he could in his weakened state at Rainier.

The zubat was weakening and Rainier was still standing strong. The two pokemon had been evenly matched hadn't they? Just luck of the draw then, that was the only way to explain how Rainier had managed to mangle the zubat so effectively. "Fury Swipes!
The attacks were getting easier to dodge now that the bat was weak and Rainier darted at it again claws outstretched.

The meowth was quite vicious in its attacks! "Supersonic, hurry!" she exclaimed.
Zyk could barely stand up, let alone fly. But at least his voice was undamaged; he did his best to take aim while he was feeling so faint and let out another blast of confusing squeaks.

(( I dunno. XD Might be all the backlog of virgin sacrifices that I chucked at the dice gods as of late. ))
With the zubat wavering it was time for them to end this. "Rainier, bite!" she commanded hoping to put the weakened pokemon down instead of drawing out the battle any further.
Barely scampering away from the offending blast of squeaky noise, Rainier hissed at Zyk for several moments before bounding off to fulfill his trainer's wishes with pleasure.

Zyk managed to stumble out of the way in time, but he was really lagging by now. He wanted to go to sleep... But Zinnia was counting on him. He released another blast of squeaks without waiting for a command, too tired and disoriented to do much else.
"Zyk..." Zinnia whispered, biting her lip and tightening her grip on the rail in her trainer's box. Things were looking pretty grim.

Overconfidence had cost him. Stumbling and shaking his head he hissed staring at Zyk or at least where he'd thought he'd seen the bat last. Ears ringing, the meowth continued to hiss and shake his head trying to clear his head.
"Shake it off, Rainier!" There wasn't much to be done for the meowth right now. Not until he shook himself out and bounced back. "Try a scratch attack!"

Zyk finally fainted as the cat's final attack landed.
"Zyk, return!" Zinnia said quickly, returning her fainted zubat back to his pokeball before he was damaged any further. "You did good," she said to the pokeball quietly. Raising her voice, she called across the stadium, "Thanks for the battle! Your meowth is really strong!"
She then took her leave to head to the pokemon center.
