It made all to much sense to the male why she wouldn't be able to leave right now. They needed their blood to stay together and to stay strong. To stay alive. Chosimba didn't feel overly bad for her though. This place was no hell hole and it seemed the lions were treated well. Aside with having to deal with a matted pelt it didn't seem bad at all. "I didn't really come looking for the beach," He confessed, "Really I just started wandering where ever my paws could take me when I was old enough. But it seems they took me here." He paused. "You know.. I think the most interesting place I've been is here. Its wet and yet its like a desert. Very much a blend of two very different things. I really think its one of the prettiest places I've seen."

She positiviely glowed at the compliment - if there was one way to gain a Bahari lions favour it was to compliment their home. It was almost as good as paying homage to it and the deities that had provided it, but they weren't so bold as to push their luck. Instead, they were simply inclined to agree (very willingly) to the assessment made by an outsider. It was a beautiful place despite the wreckage that had been left behind by the tsunami and as it continued to recover, it would only get better!
"Mmm, short of some of the stories I've heard I would say that this is the prettiest place anyone can go to," she pointed out proudly before shaking her head. There was something in his confession that gave her pause for thought and after a few moments of consideration she finally spoke, her tone cautious but still curious.
"Does that mean you've never swam before?" she enquired softly.

She was happy and that made Chosimba feel good. Her lite up face and her enthusiastic cheer about her lands. Sure, he'd met lions that were proud of their pride or their lands before but not like this. It seemed to Chosimba this girl was the most proud of all the lions he'd met. And rightfully so. The lands were beautiful. The topic took a turn to something else though. ".. No not really," His head tilted a bit, "We have water in the desert but not large amounts we could go swimming in." An amused smile uncurled on his maw, "Though.. I suppose we have enough sand to swim in. But .. that'd probably kill some one.."

She gasped dramatically - he'd never swam before? This was positively unforgivable in the eyes of the coastal lion and with a dramatic squeal she tugged at his mane and barrelled back towards the coast. This was an injustice that needed to be corrected! He needed to paddle along the coast, he needed to see the miracle of life beneath the water and he needed to do it right now, before it was too late and he moved on again.
There was a sense of urgency as she called for him to follow and she only seemed to settle when she was nearby the water again, her gaze fixed on Chosimba. Today he would be reborn, he may not understand the importance of it, but this was something he had to experience.
"You can't come to the beach and never swim, that's just wrong," she announced.

Suddenly they were on the move back to the coast. Chosimba merely followed a little afraid of what he'd just said to have this female have such a reaction. Briefly he thought maybe she was going to kill him for possibly saying something the pride didn't agree with maybe. But instead they were by the waters and she was demanding that he go swim. "..." He looked to her and then to the water. "......Seriously?" He looked from her to the water once more to make sure she was serious. It seemed to him that she was. "... How do you swim?"

"Seriously?" she echoed his question in astonishment. He had no idea how to swim, how could he not know? It was so simple, so easy...and something she had be brought up to do. She stared at him for a few moments longer before paddling without hesitation into the water, she then turned around and held up a paw, her claws splayed out to increase their size.
"See this?" she waved her splayed paw and then put it back under the water. "You do that with all your paws and then you move your legs like you're running, just...in the water," she explained and with that, dived under the water. She then reappeared a little further out and began to swim in easy circles - with the tide far out and waves calm, he wouldn't find himself dragged under unexpectantly, it was a perfect day to learn to swim.
"And then you take a deep breath and -" she paused and dove under the water, then resurfaced again, "Dive under the see what treasures are there today!" she announced merrily. "Come on, you should try it... it'll be fun, I promise!"

The male took his paw to the water and mirrored what the female was instructing. Apparently it was like running? That didn't seem to hard. And then the water claimed her suddenly and Chosimba couldn't have been more confused. Did she just commit suicide? Was this some sort of cult of a pride? He'd already backed away from the ocean with out even thinking. He was about to make a run for it entirely but instead the female reemerged. He took a seat and stared wordlessly. He thought she'd just killed her self but nope. "..Heh... S-swimming," His heart was racing a million miles an hour now. She expected him to do that? Well, it didn't look so hard now that he was watching and paying attention. The male slowly made his way to the waters edge. There was no fancy dive. Just a slow and cautious approach to the water. He was neck deep in it now and the foamy salty sea water was lapping up in to his nostrils. He sneezed awkwardly. Finally his feet could no longer touch the bottom of the oceans floor. Instead he was flailing to keep his head up. He was swimming. Poorly, but he was swimming.

"You can do it, go Choooo!" she cheered and swam around him, occasionally sweeping forward to push his tummy up. He was floundering like a cub but she knew that eventually he would adapt and find his stride. Granted he looked adorable at the moment but she couldn't help but respect him for taking the plunge and giving it a shot - he could have run for the hills at her suggestion, but instead he had just gone for it. If she'd been his mother she'd have been so very proud in those moments.
"See, duck to water, you can swim just fine!" she continued and then began to swim beside him, examining his strokes before shaking her head. "But you do need to relax a little, you'll float better if you let the water do the work for you," she pointed out gently and as if to demonstrate, she stopped paddling and was pushed gently forward by the waves...although she did start to paddle again a little later to avoid sinking completely.
"The water won't hurt you, so just let it help out."

He was frantically digging at the water with his big awkward sized paws. It was almost pitiful to watch how helpless a full grown male lion could really be when stripped away of what he knew. But Chosimba kept at it with the help of the very cheerful water female. Every stroke seemed to keep him that much more afloat. It was true though. Chosimba just needed to relax which no matter how hard he tried to he just couldn't. "This is - " The water swelled up mid sentence and choked down what ever it was the lion was about to say. He spit and sputtered and choked a little on the salty foam. This was not the time to be talking for him right now. This was the time to kick. Finally a wave swelled up and pushed the lion fully to shore. Chosimba looked like a drowned rat with the wet fur hanging off of him helping the effect. He shivered. The lions mane hung completely over his face except his muzzle.

Well it wasn't perfect, but the ocean hadn't rejected him and as he had floundered, he had been cast back onto the shore by a loving hand. No, the ocean had accepted him when push came to shove and appreciated that even though he'd been scared, he had tried. Thus, when he washed up onto the shore the lioness followed after him, paddling easily until her paws touched the sands and she was able to walk back onto the shore.
Suffice to say that thanks to her salt-conditioned coat, she didn't look like a drowned rat - a little damp perhaps, but she maintained her dignity while Chosimba resembled something quite different. She couldn't quite put her paw on it but there was something incredibly funny about how he looked. His expression was that of a startled rabbit, suitably overwhelmed by his first time in the ocean...although she had faith that given time he would probably adapt without too many issues.
"You did so well," she announced with enthusiasm and motioned towards the ocean. "And I think the ocean likes you, otherwise it wouldn't have helped you out, you should be proud!"

((.. I swear I thought I tagged this x' D IM SO SORRY FOR THE WAIT)) The lion took the moment to shake him self dry which just made his mane look all that more silly. Fur went this way and that way. Chosimba was a mess, but he was semi dry at least. The salty taste in his mouth made him suck his tongue a little in a funny way. "The ocean is capable of thought? " He finally asked half joking and half serious. He sucked on his tongue once more before giving the female a smile. "Guess I did do alright," He determined. "But I suppose its cause you were there to make sure I didn't drown." He gave her a small smile.

She'd heard from her 'uncle' that there were outside lions who didn't appreciate the ocean or simply had a different belief system. Whether this stemmed from naivity or the genuine influence of other deities remained to be seen, but Zephyr wasn't one to judge or cast an individual out based on that. If she did that, she'd be no better than some of the individual lions who had deemed her unworthy because of her own heritage.
"The ocean isn't always just the ocean," she explained patiently and motioned towards it. "Sometimes the gods descend to tend to their creations whether they be the fish, the water or something else entirely. Whatever the case might be, the ocean and everything in it is capable of thought," she continued and tilted her head to the side.
"Which means that if the ocean had decided you were unworthy I doubt I would have been able to stop it," she confessed gently. "Take pride, it likes you."

"The ocean likes me ... hmmm," Chosimba looked thoughtfully at the giant seascape for a moment before shaking off some more water. His own home pride had a strong belief system in the gods. The fact that this pride was no different but in other ways was not too terribly surprising to Chosimba. How could he prove that the ocean wasn't capable of thought? The lion continued to look thoughtfully off in to the seascape. "I guess I am lucky that it liked me than. I have to say the ocean is one of the most interesting things I've stumbled upon on my journeys. Were I'm from the water doesn't taste so salty and there is considerably less of it. Just sand as far as the eye can sea." He cocked a brow at the female. "The ocean is far more interesting I have to say."

Zephyr didn't expect everyone in the world to have the same level of spirituality. Some in her pride were strong in their beliefs because they had met a number of gods, but there were others who were filled with doubt. If Chosimba was a sceptic then she wouldn't correct him, it would be up to fate to determine if he would have any encounters with the divine and then he could make up his own mind!
However, she could agree with one thing and that was that the ocean was exceedingly interesting. He may have been looking at it from an immediate sense, what he could see and taste, but there was so much more he hadn't had the opportunity to experience yet. Perhaps in time he would explore a little further and then he would see what she did...
"You should see what's underneath," she murmured and nodded further out to sea. At certain points rocks jutted out here and there, they looked unimportant, but she knew better. "There's so much colour and so much more life. Enough colour to rival the brightest of jungles," she continued and then promptly shook her head. "Perhaps if you ever develop stronger sea legs you'll be able to explore and see for yourself, no?"

Chosimba gave a nervous laugh. Stronger sea legs and sea lungs would be more accurate. Maybe even a more stable pallet so that the salt wouldn't make him feel as if his tongue was about to swell up. He still was tossing the taste of the salt around his mouth. It wasn't completely unpleasant after a while but also not something he'd actively seek. "Brighter than the jungle? I'll have to see for my self one of these days. I don't think today is that day," His fur was still sopping wet. Bits of it hung over his eyes. "How about I promise to return one day. You can show me the ocean more in depth. I am sure on my travels my legs are bound to become sea worthy." At least he hoped so. He'd like to be able to see what ever it was this lioness spoke of.
