The fog had seeped in everywhere, thicker than ever, and it reminded Jordan of a horror movie, or maybe a game. Fog was pretty much a staple of the genre, and he wondered idly if that was a reflection of the truth about monsters, seeping into pop culture from unknown sources. Or, considering that the monsters and their world were created by human psyches, maybe the cliche of fog accompanying horror had been there all along. ... He was going to give himself a headache pursuing that particular train of circular logic.

I still don't see what my parent has to do with such a discussion.
The idle exchange was interrupted by a grim reminder of exactly what could happen to those out in the fog too long or alone. "Yeah, I think it is," he agreed. Whatever had killed the still figure on the ground might still be lingering nearby.
... Or it might be a decoy, an illusion meant to draw in potential victims. He jumped back as the thing took a swipe at Rep and got a swipe from Tracey in return. Off to one side, watch to be sure he wasn't getting any of his allies in the thick obscurity of the fog. Ferros rumbled satisfaction as the hammer struck, finding a kind of clinging resistance in the fog even though the creature looked insubstantial.
The thing's claws certainly weren't insubstantial. ... Harrison was going to grumble at him, Jordan reflected guiltily.
"Jerry, let Roar help you aim," he called.

Wash glanced at Jordan before letting his gaze slide away again, almost guilty.
"Too much time, not enough sleep, man." Ugh, this beard tickled, but he couldn't seem to be bothered to get rid of this five o'clock shadow. He wondered if they had razors somewhere?
And then they came across a body. Wash stared at it for longer than necessary, slow to react. Would this be their fate? If Denise was dead...was that such a bad thing? So tired, he was so tired. He stepped in front of the somewhat disabled Jerry, raising his shield.

"I've lost my glasses before, alright?" Jerry spat, his face flushing at Jordan's helpful call. Alright, so he couldn't see what they were up against, but indeed, Roar could.

Harrison bristled as foggy claws stretched out for Jordan.
He proceeded to transform into a shining beacon of defensive prowess, blocking anything that looked at anybody funny. He was a fury of blades, the only evidence of his presence the sparkling trail of sweat and the grim whisper of metal.

In the presence of so many people, it would have been nice, Rep figured, to actually be able to attack the foggy creature. Maybe to land some serious hits on it, make it regret ******** with him. But once again he was reminded of just how depressingly much he still had to learn as with every swipe, Tracey met nothing but more fog.
It was frustrating and just a /bit/ embarrassing. But at least Harrison was there to deflect the hits from the spectral little b*****d.
He was really good at this defending s**t.

He had to wonder with all seriousness, if the initial hit he'd landed was a complete ******** fluke as time and time again he met nothing but air, eventually getting Tracey lodged a few centimetres in the ground. Dignified.

Jordan blinked with confusion as Jerry snapped back at him. Had he said something wrong? He'd meant to be helpful, but Jerry sounded angry. This wasn't a good time to get distracted by it, though. The thing was ridiculously evasive, fading in and out, never quite where you expected it to be; somehow, Harrison anticipated it every time, was there to block its claws. Damn, he was good.
The creature manifested itself right in front of Jordan. He swung at it reflexively, and gritted his teeth as it drifted back with a taunting gesture, barely grazed by his strike.

With a snarl, Jerry charged forward towards the blurry monstrosity. If he was closer, he COULDN'T miss, right? He wasn't useless. He could do this. He'd show them all. The cannon barked, ripping through mist as he limped his way around it.

"It's fast," Jordan commented. He moved back into the fog and circled around, coming at the creature from the back; he got in a more substantial hit this time, though not by much.
Ferros chuckled in his mind, the sense of the weapon growing to a blast of heat. Let me flame.
