Souppi was glad Tamie was laughing now. She seemed much less tense than before.
"I didn't think of that." He stopped and thought of ways to make the game better. Only being able to play for one round would be as fun as red rover with only two gladiers. Not very. "Maybe you could think of your own secret spot? Or I could come over your place, so you could have the homefield advantage instead?" He thought either of those would even out the playing field.
"That's a good idea. I'll keep it a secret then." In that case, he thought he would show her that big rock next and after that, The Libra's burrow. Those were all of the places he thought were most interesting in the glade.
"Don't worry. They're safe. I personally know three gladiers who ate here and two of them know a lot about food." He nodded affirmatively. "The third one was me, so that doesn't really count." He tried to remember the exact ones he ate. After he recalled that he and Lo had picked them bare, he knew he must have had them all. He had just been so hyper at the time that wasn't paying attention. He pointed to one berry and said, "I think the blue ones taste best. The round one is called a blueberry." Then, he pointed to different one. "While the bumpy one with a hole in a middle is a raspberry, but I'm kind of confused, because I thought the red bumpy one was a raspberry. I don't know the difference."
He remember everyone liked different things. He liked spicy and bitter foods, but all of his siblings liked sweet. He knew Ball liked to eat grass and leaves, even if no one else he knew were all that fond of them. He also remembered Skull Rabbit liked terrible smelling food that he, himself, wouldn't give a chance. He thought for sure Tamie might be similar. "Even if they are safe to eat, it's a good idea to start off with just one in case you don't like it, because everyone has different tastes."

Tamie thought about exploring the glade. It wouldn’t be too bad would it? The idea still gave her chills about the possible horror of finding something scary, but what would be even worse would be having Souppi come to her home. Tamie lived with her friend Rubido in the human world and there where many scary things there; that were dangerous if you didn’t know what to expect. She couldn’t put a little one in danger like that. “I uh. I could explore here. Who knows maybe I’ll some really good hiding spots here.” She looked around with a smile on her face even though she wished she could just melt into the ground. Maybe she should just hide in the berry bushes. They seemed safe enough.
She nodded listening to Souppi. What he said made sense, and it made her feel a lot better knowing that other gladiers had also eaten here, and were presumably fine. “Alright then.” Reaching up with a paw she snagged a blue one. They didn’t seem big so trying just one probably wouldn’t make her fill her mouth with too much of a taste that couldn’t be washed out quickly enough. She looked at the berry and sniffed it. It did seem similar to ones that the human used, but Tamie had never seen the bush they came off before so she didn’t know if they were the same kind or not. Opening her mouth she closed her eyes and popped the berry in her mouth chomping down. Immediately sweet juice filled her mouth. Opening her eyes she looked at Souppie and smiled. “These are really good. I’ve had them before, but I didn’t know what they were called or what they looked like on the plant.” She patted Souppi on the head before reaching for another and eating it. Saddly this one was tart. She had a puckered face when she looked at Souppi again. “not all of them are good though.”
(she doesn't know how to tell which ones are ripe.. >.< She's lucky she lives with Rubido.. if she lived alone she'd be dead in a week.)

Her feelings went right over his head. He couldn't figure out why she had been shivering, because it was warm today and while it was cloudy, it wasn't going to rain. The only other reason he could think of was that she was afraid. He was reassured later when she smiled and talked about finding her own finding places. "I hope so. I'll look forward to it."
What she said next made him wonder where she was from. He had trouble imagining a place where he could find fruit, but not the plant it grew of off. Maybe she has servants or something?
"I know what you mean. The ones that are too hard or too soft don't taste very good." He grabbed one of each. The first slipped out of his grasp and bounced along the ground. The second splat against his fur and he licked himself clean of its strong tasting juice. "The best ones are in between."
He thought it would be a good idea to tell her they were at the halfway point. "There are only two more places left to see now."

Tamie smiled happily. He was such a cute little gladier. She vowed to herself to find at least one or two really good hiding spots. She listened to his explanation of the berries. Yes well that did sound about right. After all when she had them before she had them all about the same softness. She nodded and then looked at him. “Two more places? Well lead on my gallant guide I’m looking forward to seeing the next spot. Besides when we are all done we can come back and eat. I even have some cookies that are pretty good.” She snagged a berry and popped it into her mouth this time she had picked a good one. The sweet flavor of the berry exploded on her tongue and she made a satisfied humming sound. She would definitely remember how to tell the good ones from the bad now. Who knows maybe she might try to add some berries to her cookies the next time she felt like something different.
