The roleplay has officially begun! If you want to know the date and time for your first post, it's explained in the "Setting" post on the first page. Location is totally up to you, but make sure you find a way to drop your character into a quaint forest in Indiana by your next few posts.

And now, without any further ado, let's begin!

It was a perfect day. Clear, pure white clouds drifted in a beautiful blue sky. The sun's ray peeked out from behind and shone down on a quaint forest in Indiana. There, in that forest, it was peaceful. Birds of different species sang their song. The leaves of the forest's trees rustled with the soft wind. Aside from that, there was a quiet silence. Content, ageless.

The silence was broken. There was a flash of the purest white, seen between two trees standing proudly near eachother. It was gone the next instant. That presence, that blur of white, was different. It didn't belong in the forest. It radiated power, grace, and danger.

The rabbit didn't sense anything. It was unaware of the dangerous presence stalking it, and continued to hop around the small clearing that the two trees bordered. It stopped hopping, staring at an unusually green piece of grass within that clearing. Slowly, it inched over and bent down to take a nice, delicious bite.

Suddenly, it struck. The white blur showed itself once more. An Arctic wolf, charging with blinding speed at the insignificant rabbit. Its pure white fur rustled in the wind. Its mouth opened, displaying sharp teeth. The wolf swept the rabbit up with its powerful teeth and closed. The rabbit struggled, confused. The wolf wasn't one of its normal predators. Where did it come from? And then, it couldn't think any more.

The wolf feasted, tearing strips of the rabbit's tender meat with its teeth. Unlike most wolves however, it kept itself clean. Just a few drops of blood splattered on the wolf's coat. The wolf restrained itself from going all out, instead carefully tearing strip by strip, one after another.

When it was done, the wolf cleaned itself, wiping the blood from its coat with a paw. Then, the wolf started to glow. A white light, even purer than its coat, outlined the wolf. It slowly enveloped it and expanded, turning into a sort of sphere-shaped blob of white light. The light twisted and elongated, into a taller, slimmer, vertically shaped sphere. Then, it disappeared, taking the wolf with it. In its place stood a young girl, around sixteen years of age, with long, sleek black hair and intelligent olive green eyes. The girl wore what looked like a school uniform, though it was dirty and wrinkled and torn.

Aghaveagh McMurphy, preferably known as Vee, looked down at the mangled remains of the rabbit she'd just eaten. Her face was solemn, nondescript. Slowly, she raised a dirtied white sleeve and wiped the blood off her mouth. Then, she murmured, ""Sorry, my friend. But a girl, and the wolf within her, gets rather hungry."

It is not natural for a leopard to be found living anywhere other than the Asian continent, so the giant jungle cat prowling through the forests of New Mexico's mountains was a rare sight to any who might catch a glimpse of it. By all logical thought, the leopard should have been in a zoo. But this was no ordinary leopard. And it wasn't there to simply reside. This leopard was moving, and moving quickly, toward the northeastern border as if trying to escape pursuers. It--she, for the leopard was a female--stopped only for a short time to catch a fawn and leap into the branches of a tree to devour her catch. After finishing her meal, the leopard stretched out in the crook where the branches came together, and her form slowly shifted, seeming to blur and melt until a young woman, robed from head to sandaled foot, lay curled where the leopard was a moment before.

A small creature could be seen running through the underbrush. With a flash of red, it was gone. The creature had been running for quite some time, it was panting and foaming a bit at the mouth. Only after the creature crossed into the forests of Ohio did it stop. The pull was getting less, he was almost there. After getting control of his breathing, the creature; a fox, started to look for a suitable meal.

After a snack of nuts and insects, the fox spied a small squirrel, but didn't line up his gaze to actually hunt it. Meat always made the fox feel too heavy to travel, and this stay could not last long. Even filling his belly too much made it too difficult to run for very long, and there was still a great ways he had to go; he could feel it. The forest he was resting in was quite peaceful, considering the urbanized civilization was but a few miles from this spot. The fox did not enjoy being too close, but being too far away made him uneasy as well.

Maybe staying fifteen minutes, the fox could not tell time in this form, he set off once again.

Kiacy Khalid

A small ocelot padded through the dense forest of Indiana. The spotted cat lazily glanced up at the blue sky, contemplating whether or not to continue her journey through the forest. She was still trying to find a somewhat permenant home. Or one that's at least hidden enough so she won't be chased off by some goverment freaks. Kiacy looked up and spotted a tall tree with a low hanging branch, low enough for her to get on. She quickly leaped onto the branch with one graceful jump. Kiacy soon climbed from branch to branch so that she was sitting near the top of the tree, looking down at the ground. She looked around before her form began to glow a slight orange and soon, a lithe girl about 17 was sitting in the branches. Kiacy smiled, "That's more like it," Kiacy muttered as she watched a few birds flying overhead.
Kiacy sat up alerted when she heard someone walking through the undergrowth. Kiacy speedily shifted back into an ocelot and laid down on the branch, attmepting to act like a normal forest cat, not a wanted shapeshifter. She glanced back down at the person, noticing that the woman had blood on her mouth. Kiacy frowned, she could tell that the woman was not from the goverment. Regardless, she didn't acknowledge the woman, she remained where she was, beginning to relax and calm down. Her eyes returned to the sky once more, she loved the appearance of the light blue sky, it seemed so, peaceful.

After a short time, the robed woman's eyes flew open. She'd heard footsteps. All her senses on high alert, her form melted back into that of a leopard. She leapt from the tree in which she rested to another tree, staying above a layer of leafy branches so it would be hard to distinguish her from the shadows of the trees. Following her internal compass north and east, she traveled until she was too tired to go any further. By the time she stopped and found a comfortable tree to shift forms again and sleep, she figured that she'd crossed the border into Colorado. From here on out, she was going to have to stay in her human form until she got where her instincts were telling her to go. This was going to be tough.

Having finished her daily meal, Vee took to wandering around the forest. She was pretty sure she was in Indiana, but she couldn't really be sure. When she entered the state, a couple of agents had been on her tail. Thanks to the speed and stamina of the wolf that she shared her D.N.A with, she was just barely able to escape them.

Not a sound could be heard from her as she walked over the cluttered forest ground. She'd learned to move silently, as if her life depended on it -- which, it did. Her breathing was light, her movements subtle and precise. She tried to ignore the sounds of the forest, and tried to single out the one artificial sound that signaled danger was near; if it was there at all.

Suddenly, she heard a soft rustle in the branches ahead of her and froze. Her eyes darted around, searching for a sign. She saw an orange-ish glow, mostly covered by a large, stout tree. It looked familiar. It reminded her of this man she once knew, a fellow Shapeshifter, who turned into a Bengal tire. She saw him gunned down by men from the government a couple of years ago.

Vee was surprised. Could it really be? A Shapeshifter, in this very forest, this very spot, at this very time? What a surprise. Hoping not to alarm the Shapeshifter, she crept forward, scanning the area for an unusual animal. She tried to push down the thought that maybe the Shapeshifter's animal was commonly seen in the forest, and she wouldn't be able to meet them.

There. She saw it. An ocelet, curled up on a branch, acting as if it belonged in the forest. Its orange fur stood out against the dull brown of the tree.

Vee smirked. She knew it probably wasn't the time to be sardonic, but she couldn't really mask the dry tone in her voice. "I don't remember reading in any book that ocelots were common in Indiana." She crossed her arms and leaned casually against the tree. If only she knew she would come across a Shapeshifter, she would've made herself look a little more presentable. Her hair was ruffled and tangled, her face a grimy mess, and her clothes were wrinkled and torn, and spotted with blood from her past meals. She didn't exactly look friendly and sociable at the moment.

xxxxxxxxxxxRichard Leonard Bayard
History is written on the backs of horses

A huge black stallion stood poised, all his muscles tensed as the finely pointed ears swiveled to catch the sounds of the forest. He was listening for anything that sounded out of place, for something that didn't belong. It had been a few days, and so far everything had sounded like a normal forest in Indiana. Satisfied, the big stallion relaxed, dropped his head and began to browse.

Cash had been thin lately, so Richard Leonard Bayard had decided to stay in his horse form rather than try to scrounge up enough food for his human self. It was easier to find stuff a horse could eat than a human, and the health of the horse translated into the health of the human. Richard could literally claim that he was "healthy as a horse". He'd done a lot of reading about the local flora at the last library he'd been at, so he knew what was bad for a horse and carefully avoided it.

Suddenly, his ear flicked back to catch a snatch of speech, and the stallion flung his head up, eyes rolling. His ears were tilted back, straining to hear more of the words, and anything else that indicated humans in the forest. Richard had grown up being warned against the government agents that were sent to hunt down shifters like him, and in this supposedly wild forest, he thought he would be safe from them. Unfortunately, that looked like it would no longer be the case.

He stood undecided for a minute. The voices sounded female, and hadn't moved at all. If they were agents searching for shifters, the voices would have modulated with distance. Richard's first inclination was to investigate to see what he was up against. The second was to flee, though crashing headlong through the underbrush would let anyone with any bit of tracking skills know that a horse had been running where no horse should be.

Finally, his human curiosity overcame the horse's desire to run, and he began slowly pacing toward the sounds of conversation. He wasn't as quiet as a deer would be, since he was big and had a long mane and tail that liked to get tangled in branches, but he didn't sound like a tank crashing through the forest, either. Other people might have commented on how he sounded like a bear with hooves pushing through the undergrowth.

Finally, he came up behind a large clump of bushes that mostly hid him and was surprised to see a dirty, bloody girl talking to a wild cat.

The fox really was panting hard when he finally settled to a slight jog through the forest. His keen hearing started to pick up on different forest sounds, but an explosion a few years back left him a bit deaf. It wasn't really a problem in this form, but in his human form he could barely hear what people said if they were standing a few feet in front of him. He had learned to read lips, but that didn't stop him from not knowing what someone said sometimes, if they talked too fast. It was one of the reasons the fox loved being in this particular form, he could actually hear.

After a little while of jogging, the pull disappeared entirely. He briefly wondered why his body would choose to make him come to a deserted little forest. Although, once the fox stopped jogging altogether, he could instantly tell there were different animals than usual in this forest. He could not tell what they were doing, but if he shifted here, he would never be able to hear them, so he remained a fox. He was wary of traveling animals, they weren't always a good thing. The fox could also see that not only were they strange animals, there were a few. His keen hearing was not the same with his eyesight, which was as bad in his human form as it was in his fox form.

Kiacy Khalid

Kiacy looked down at the girl who had just spoken to her. That confirmed it, the girl was a Shapeshifter, if she was normal, she wouldn't of come this far into the forest in the first place. If she would've been from the goverment, Kiacy would already be dead. Kiacy shifted slightly, she didn't exactly feel like meeting someone new. After a moments thought, Kaicy sighed, she would have to be at least civil to this person, there weren't many Shapeshifters left, so she might as well try to be nice to her. Kiacy didn't want possibly the last of her kind to hate her. Kiacy gracefully leaped out of the tree, landing on the forest ground with a soft thud. She shifted back into a human and looked at the girl. She had definatly been in the wild for a while, "And I assume that teenage girls covered in blood are more common?" Kiacy said, attempting to smile. She was positive that she didn't look much better than her. Kiacy had managed to avoid eating animals, but she was pretty sure that it wouldn't last much longer. Aside from that, Kiacy was pretty sure that her clothes were coated in leaves and dirt from sleeping in trees for most of her time in the forest. " Anyway, I'm Kiacy Khalid. And who would you be?" Kiacy asked, brushing some stray hairs out of her face and back into her ponytail.
Kiacy quickly stiffened, hearing something crash through the undergrowth. " What was that?" Kiacy muttered, turning her head towards where she had heard the noise. After a moment, Kiacy realized it couldn't be anyone from the goverment, they couldn't make that much noise. It sounded like something much larger. Kiacy frowned, "What the hell?" She murmered as she turned back towards the girl, "Looks like we aren't alone," Kiacy said.

Vee was grateful that the Shapeshifter at least didn't try to act dumb and play the part of the animal whose form they took. That would've only irked Vee. The ocelot nimbly leaped down from the tree and was bathed in an orange glow, which expanded and grew unto a teenage girl, like her. The girl was slim, petite, with light brown hair and eyes. To be blunt, she looked horrible as well. Vee didn't quite feel so bad about her own appearance anymore. She rubbed her mouth once more with her sleeve, to expel all traces of blood from her face.

"Aghaveagh McMurphy. Vee will suffice, though." Vee grinned, putting a hand on her hips. "Sure is nice to meet someone that's not trying to kill me. It's been a while since I have." She froze when Kiacy did. Whoever was creeping in the undergrowth was exactly crashing through the forest like an elephant, but in Vee's ears, her hearing heightened by her wolf counterpart, there wasn't any difference.

"Looks like we aren't alone," Kiacy commented.

Vee looked in the general direction of the sounds. Even though it was probably trying its hardest to stay hidden, it wasn't that hard to spot the large stallion hiding behind a clump of bushes. Also an abnormal sight in the forest, but not unwelcome. Vee grinned. "Apparently not. Now to figure out whether that's a good thing or not."

Out of the corner of her eye, Vee could spot a fox, ears perked and eyes wide. She spread her arms open towards the horse and fox. "No need to hide in the presence of allies. We're all on the same team here, I'm sure."

Kiacy nodded, "Nice to meet you too, Vee," Kiacy said, watching the bush where the horse was locatated. "Nice hiding spot horsey," Kiacy said sarcastically, "Don't be scared, I don't bite," Kiacy said, turning to face the horse with a slight smile on her face. She couldn't help but grin when she saw the large horse attempting to hide behind a clump of bushes. Kiacy tilted her head slightly as a scent hit her nose. Thanks to the ocelot's good sense of smell, she could identify it wasn't human. She turned towards the scent, she spotted orange ears, she quickly identified it as a fox. It may be common in forest's, but Kiacy had a feeling that the fox was another Shapeshifter. Kiacy crossed her arms, the smile had left her face, she was okay with one other person, but she wasn't too fond of two others. Kiacy sighed, "Guess there were more Shapeshifters than I thought. I assume I shouldn't be rude, they are like me. In a sense," Kiacy thought. She let her arms drop to her sides and she scanned the area, looking for anyone else that might be hiding in the undergrowth. Once she was almost positive that it was just them, she looked over at Vee as she spoke. "Well, I sure hope it's good," Kiacy said.
Kiacy watched the animals while she took out her hair and pinned it back up, annoyed by the pieces of hair that fell into her face. It was only a few moment's later before her bangs fell out and got into her eyes. Kiacy quickly shoved them back, annoyed. "I'm gonna assume we are," She said, staying alert in case anyone had heard their conversation.

The fox was alarmed, but not overly surprised that the animals, now he classified as humans, then as shapeshifters like himself, had spotted him. He slowly crept out towards the voice, the two girls, and he could see that they had been in the wilderness for quite a while. If he would have been in his human form he would have been able to chuckle.

But there was an intereting feat, having four shapeshifters all in the exact same location. The fox quietly wondered if there would be any others. A light green glow slowly started to emerge onto the fox, and he slowly shifted into a thin man, his hearing of the forest slowly fading until he could barely hear it. In his human form, his health was not quite well, since he barely ate anything when he was running, but soon he'd start to hunt, or at least scavange. "I am called Dex." his voice was also hard of hearing, but he guessed that if they were shapeshifters, they would be able to hear him perfectly fine.

The black stallion gave a derisive sneeze at the ocelot-turned-girl as he stepped out from behind the bush, deliberately spraying snot on her clothes. That's what you get for calling me 'horsey'. As a nearby fox turned into a thin-looking young man and introduced himself as Dex, the big horse heaved a sigh and reared up. A muted purple light enveloped him, and Richard stood slouched in his human form, hands thrust in his pockets. He only wore a jacket, since some yahoo had stolen his shirt while he'd been letting it dry a few days back.

"Guess we're all being up front with each other, being shifters and all. I'm Richard." He gave Kiacy a frown and said, "I'm not very good at hide-and-seek, p***y, but I'm pretty good at stomping on those who try and bite me. Big hooves tend to be pretty useful in that regard."

He nodded at Aghaveagh, and said, "I'm all for being on the same side, but you do realize gathering in groups like this is practically begging for the fuzz to find us?"

Vee stood back and watched, a faint smile on her face, as the horse and fox stepped forward, and Shifted in their respective glows. In their place, two men stood, both thin but not exactly frail from lack of proper food. Not that Kiacy or Vee herself probably looked any better. As a Shapeshifter, everything was hard to come by. The younger man, formerly the fox, could be considered frail. He held himself protectively, as if he expected to be struck any minute. His hair was an interesting color, green, with a blueish tinge. The other man gave Vee the impression that he was one of those rough-and-tumble brawlers you see on the street, but she could tell he wasn't like that. More sophisticated, well-educated.

She smirked in amusement at the little exchange between Richard and Kiacy. Apparently living on the run had given every Shapeshifter a sort of dry sense of humor.

"Let's not bite or stomp anybody, if you will. There's few of us as it is," she said in a deadpan tone. "If you weren't here a few minutes ago, I'm Vee. She's Kiacy." She shrugged at Richard's comment. Yeah, she knew from experience: if there was more than one Shapeshifter in the same place, then it usually meant bad news - and not for the surrounding people.

"I don't think any of us planned to meet three other shapeshifters. If you look at it from a spiritual point of view, maybe we were all destined to meet." Highly unlikely, but after days of running and hiding, Vee was desperate for some optimistic thoughts. "I don't suppose any of you had some agents hot on your tail upon entering this forest?" She glanced at the other three. "And I don't know about you three, but I've been dying for a bit of friendly social interaction for a while. I don't suppose any of you could stay for dinner. I've got a nice, dead rabbit waiting over on the side."

As soon as she'd said it, she wished she could take it back. Really? Dead rabbit? That probably made the others so eager to stay and chat a bit with her. Yes, come talk to the friendly girl who keeps dead rabbits and squirrels in her backpack.
