Niji leaped to the side, once again dodging the poison. Bounding forward, he snapped at the Sableye's flank.

Lyle was surprised his pokemon had disobeyed him. "Spinel, that one's not working. Use Rock Smash again."
Spinel nearly sighed, but he had to admit that Toxic had missed again. Then he got another bite and squawked at the pain. Almost reflexively, he swung his paw down to smack at the Eevee.

"Keep going, Spinel! You're doing great!" cheered Lyle. Battling was so exciting!
Spinel wasn't so sure of that. The bites really hurt, no matter how small the nips seemed. He swung his paw again, but there wasn't the same enthusiasm as at the beginning of the fight.

Niji rolled with the swat, using the momentum to get a little distance. Then he spat a shadowy ball of energy at the gem-encrusted pokemon.

The Shadow Ball knocked Spinel off his feet, and although he got up, it took him a moment.
Lyle noticed that his pokemon was slowing down. "Spinel, you ok?" he asked. The Sableye nodded, though it looked even more weary than his last attack. "Well, if you say so...Another Rock Smash."
Spinel rushed forward as fast as his tried legs could run to deliver one more attack.

Niji curled his body around the paw that swatted out at him. It stung, but it gave him the chance to reach the more tender areas of the Sableye. His sharp teeth flashed towards the underside of the purple pokemon's leg where it met the body.

Spinel screeched at the very painful bite and collapsed on the ground, trying to curl into a ball to protect the hurt spot even as he fainted.
"Oh no! Spinel!" When his pokemon didn't move, Lyle rushed over, heedless of the pale Eevee, and carefully picked his Sableye up. "Don't worry, I'll get you to the Pokemon Center. They can fix anything! You're just fainted right? You be fine..." He turned away and rushed into the city, thankful he'd already made sure of where the Pokemon Center was.

Niji watched the human walk away. Hmph. He groomed a spot on his shoulder, and turned to walk off in the other direction.
