That offended him. It offended him greatly. A growl came to his throat and let his brows knit together, his teeth started to show. When he realized he was fixing to throw a tantrum the red lion attempted to smooth his 'ruffled feathers' by just turning his back on her and laying down. He was hoping it kicked up dust and ruined her meal, or at least made her sneeze.
"Sorry," was all he said as he laid there, closing his eyes a little more. Stretching out his legs, he let out a big yawn, tongue curling before just snorting. "I get cranky when I'm hungry. I don't know why I even bothered to ask you. It just sort of slipped out." His tail thumped back and forth before sighing heavily, rubbing his face against the grass.

What now, he was apologizing? Trying to make an excuse for his behavior? More like he was trying to lull her into a false sense of security, make her pity him so that she would willingly share her kill with him! She'd seen all sorts of ploys like this since becoming a mother and, frankly, she'd thought it would end once she had left the cubs in the Mwezi'Johari.
Apparently not. Somewhere there was a god laughing at her.
She thought about responding. Pointing out how calm he was now, and how apologetic...as opposed to how insistent he had been before that he had some sort of right to her meal!
The grey lioness opted to simply take advantage of the peace and quiet to devour another several mouthfuls of meat.

When she said nothing, Sha simply laid there with his eyes closed, listening to her eat. He honestly had given up now, and wasn't trying to get her meal. He'd get hos own eventually and drag it back to his own den. "So. Do you need a place to sleep tonight? There's dens all over the place, most of them are empty. One or two might hold a cheetah I've seen on the lands but for the most part this place is pretty quiet."
He figured he'd at least make amends by trying to be hospitable. Although, Sha really wasn't sure what hospitable was. He would have attacked a male if this had happened. He wouldn't have even asked him to leave. He would have just attacked him at the exact moment he saw him.

So he was going even further with this new tactic of his. Trying to be hospitable...what was he trying to pull now? He sounded earnest enough, but after the argument they'd already had, Ieiunium couldn't help being suspicious.
"Dens? Plural? And yet there are so few living here now," she commented, pausing her devouring for a moment. This whole place struck her as odd, emptier by far than it should be. A chill ran up her spine at the thought.

"Yeah, well, this place is pretty isolated and I tend to not be very welcoming, as you noticed," he said, trying not to be snarky. Sighing again he shifted his position and turned to watch her, arching a brow. "Occassionally there'll be a traveling family, but they're often on their way to the Mwezi'Johari. There might be a pink lioness walking about. She was the other day, on her way to that pride, but I don't know if they let her in or whatever. I assumed that's where she was going." Sha didn't exactly talk to her. He just saw the direction he was headed and it added up in his head.
"Sometimes the guards wander this far to question me, but they leave me alone for the most part. I have no intention of joining a pride nor do I wanna join that one. It seems to... I don't know, odd."

"I know the Mwezi'Johari," Iei replied shortly. But if this lion was so familiar with them...would she have heard about it while she was there? Maybe...but apparently not. Then again, she'd been fairly distracted the first time. And the second time was much more brief.
The only solid fact was that she cared nothing for some pink lioness headed in that direction. Many rogues traveled. That was what they did, what she did. Just because a direction was traveled in, didn't mean the rogue would actually visit any pride on their way.
His words about not joining a pride struck a resounding chord in Ieiunium, however, and she almost commiserated with him about how the crush of other lives made her feel so claustrophobic...but stopped herself at the last moment. She was not here to make friends with an obnoxious stranger! She was here to eat, and then to get out of this place once she'd finished her meal!

It didn't surprise Sha she knew about the pride. It was talked about because of of their belief int he moon or something weird like that. The moon didn't provide much but light when it was dark and gave him some clue of the direction he was heading. Did it really offer protection? Not that he thought. If anything it got him into even more trouble on full moons when he was hunting. His colors really stood out.
"Feel free to use whatever den. I'm going to mine, so leave whenever you want." With that, he wandered towards the direction of home, not even bothering to glance back to see if she'd left any of her meal.

Well. That was...interesting. Privately, the grey lioness had expected him to stick around in the hopes that the zebra would prove to be too much for a single lioness to finish. Perhaps he was capable of actual intelligent though after all. He was certainly more mature than she'd supposed, leaving so peacefully and silently admitting that he'd lost completely.
Well, she might as well take him up on the offer. Not to mention if there were deserted dens around here, she might as well drag the remains of her food with her, as it would be more secure through the night and allow for a wonderful breakfast tomorrow morning.
All in all, this had been a very interesting day.
