My reactions in the order that they happened:
Seeing the title of the thread: "Hhhmm... Did someone ******** up badly or something?"
Reading the first sentence: "I vaguely remember that... It's a series?"
Clicking the link: *laughing so hard I couldn't breathe*

I blame Super Smash Brothers for that though xd

As for the SS game conversation though...
I hated it.
It was a Zelda game yes, but the reliance on the Wii Motion Plus thing made some of the dame things almost impossibly annoying. The "Simon Says" door locks, the Ghingam fights where he grabs your sword, the moblins that block your sword. ALL of those things don't work when you want them to as whenever you move faster then a slow crawl you'll always attack from the exact angle. I could probably ACTUALLY do those things faster IRL then you could them in the game. *sigh* I honestly think that TP will be the last Zelda game I truly enjoy with makes me sad T.T

Sure, sure, but it might be a while until Nolan makes it back to Route 1.

And you just watched a most excellent commercial that I have loved over many years.

No problem. By the way you're the Deres Gym Leader! 4/5 people agree with this decision! I'm going to have to show it off to people.

Well ... if I had a GameShark or whatever it is crazy kids cheat with these days, then I would CONTROL EVERYTHING! Or maybe if I was a programmer.

God forbid you call it by the wrong name. The pricks in Gamestop will have a heart attack if you don't say the right thing.

I think I've had an experience like that before. Some kind of package deal someone didn't get for one reason or another. But I can't quite recall ...

I have yet to forgive my mother or the a*****e sales associate that didn't tell her to buy the right thing.

Vincent, you should see my sister play Skyward Sword.

She's a big Legend of Zelda fan like I am, and it's actually her copy of the game that I play. She's been playing through Hero Mode now.

But she's an absolute spazz and she makes Link swing like crazy. It's hilarious to watch her. I started playing that way until it my arm cramped up, and I had to take a couple days off from playing.

And I agree, the first fight with Ghirahim is absolutely frustrating and horribly planned. I had to do it for my sister since she was going insane. However, once you get the 'gist' of how the game wants you to swing, I came up with a few tricks and can wipe the floor with the Demon Lord now. (The only boss fight I haven't mastered yet is the final one, but hey, by then I'd been playing the game for over 60 hours. I needed it to be over.)

All I can really say is that learning to time your shield bash-block makes your plank of metal your best friend. And one carefully aimed slash is better than a full out attack. (Especially when you get to the Moblins with electricity.) And a sort of Mortal Draw like there was in Twilight Princess can be 'faked' in Skyward Sword. That became my favorite tactic.

The learning curve is HUGE to control Link's sword, but once I got it, I was depressed to go back to just button mashing when I replayed some of Twilight Princess.

You know, Ken. That only makes me wonder why I didn't make that fifth person happy.

Can you tell what was the problem so I can fix it?

But hooray! Deres be MINE. Does my profile for the gym leader need to be approved before use, just like my character did?

I get so tempted to just get a GameShark though, especially when I'm up to the billionth pokemon that has the wrong nature. My legion of Abra, Munna, and Elgyem help with that now though. And don't get me started on trying to capture a Ditto with excellent IVs. (Or even perfect IVs, as if that exists outside of cheating.)

That's not the problem Xavior.
The problem is that I've played enough Soul Calibur to know that if you want fast motions with a sword it's all in your wrist, not your arm and if you actually use those tricks it translates as rapid slashed in a downward to the left motion instead of an X slash.

Aaaaaaaand the 5th person isn't on yet so as of right now it's unanimous.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 12, 2012 3:24 pm

Even a sweeter victory! Then it really would be 4/4 right now, until that fifth returns.

Soul Calibur on which system? I only own the one for Gamecube so I don't know about the rest.

But yeah, you do have a good grasp of how some swordplay can work in Skyward Sword too. It's just that the long, exaggerated slashes don't seem to be very smart. I thought it was counter-intuitive too to slow down like that.

But then once the shield is brought into the equation, the recoil time from quick slashes cuts into your defenses in the game. The quick, fast spazz slashes are best when you get through your enemy's guard. I learned to play with a good mix of offense AND defense, but I certainly planned and watched before a strike.

Oh it's not that you didn't make them happy but they aren't online like the rest of us and so didn't cast their vote. When they were online they were concerned with other matters and ignored GLs and such entirely.

Yes it will have to be approved.

I'm about to embark on a perfect IV/EV quest for Cacturne. I just have to get a job first for the AR to check on the s**t.

2 on the GC
3 on the PS2
5 on the PS3

Didn't realize that 4 was out until I heard that 5 was coming out the day before it did sweatdrop

And the thing about Zelda games is that I'm a sniper. I used to be able to hit Keesekeese from across Hydrule Field. Can't do that now cause even if I put it down on the table it'll wiggle like a crack addict in need of a fix and that makes it hard to aim <.<

The EV training isn't so bad with the right tools. It's egg moves, abilities, and natures that drive me nuts.

But what do you mean by an AR? ... Oh, Action Replay?

I think that's what I wanted, not the Game Shark, but I honestly don't know the difference since I haven't looked into 'cheating' beyond learning my secret ID and trying to trick the RNG system. Lets just say that I never could get that Moltres to come up shiny in Soul Silver, but hey, I tried. I'll try again later when I have more patience.

AR is that one that lets you see the hidden IVs of wild pokemon before you catch them, right?
PostPosted: Thu Apr 12, 2012 3:57 pm

Oh I see, I only have SC 2 since I'm not really huge on fighting games.

I'm laughably bad at just Super Smash.

But that might be because I actually play as Ganondorf and Bowser. And Mewtwo in the older version. If I pick it up again, I'll just be cheap like everyone else and master Meta Knight.

Pew pew pew ... I got rather good at the horseback archery, and I'd just run around Hyrule field, shooting things at random ...

Ah yes, the jiggly cursor on the Wii. Damn that stupid remote. It's not even a step up in graphics at all from the Gamecube if you ask me.

I'm not that good at fighting games either but I still like them.

*stares at my PS3 games...*
Mass Effect 2 & 3
Marvel vs Capcom 3 & Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
Dark & Demons Souls
Soul Calibur 5
Deus Ex
Street Fighter 4
Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3
Street Fighter X Tekken...
Ico / Shadow of the Colossus
Uuuhhh...
I'm sure that I have at least a few more games then that but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

Street Fighter X Tekken grants an interesting situation though...

Oh dear lord what on earth is this? It literally broke my mind once I got home from college today. This was just...NO! Pokemon and Legend of Zelda don't really mix except in Super Smash Bros. Other than that I do not see it mixing! My Zelda senses tell me no!

I can name the fighting games I've played pretty quickly.

Super Smash Melee and Brawl, Soul Calibur 2, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury, and ... Primal Rage!

That's honestly it. I have tried a couple of others, but not for very long at all. They tended to make me and my brother get extremely angry at each other, to the point that we'd really start fighting. But we were only kids back then.

Now no one plays Soul Calibur with me though, because I would always pick Nightmare ...

@Belzayne: I'm actually afraid at this point someone in the guild might come forward and LIKE this sort of thing. Either trolling or just weird. But my bet stays on troll.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 12, 2012 4:25 pm

Please, just call me Bel or Nom. I'd rather one of those names over my long name. It makes it easier on others :3

And you aren't the only one to be afraid of that. I have been around Zelda for so long my brain just cannot accept this. Though I do agree on troll

Kenocka

I'm going to replace my Axew profile for the one for my gym leader. I decided I would rather just wait and catch my own Axew farther down the line for Nolan.

I had already started on a second character so it's nearly finished ...

Eh heh, whether I got the spot or not, just because I could. Besides, I thought the chance was good that I would get a TC spot at least. Except I still want to change up some of the pokemon he has. I haven't finalized my decision yet.
