The mysterious woman's answers had only given birth to more questions. Ouranos listened silently, feeling more and more unsure of the truth as she spoke; however, it was not a bad feeling. In dreams, reality was often hard to grasp, slipping away through one's fingers. Dreams were merely puzzles, waiting to be solved in slumber. This was much the same. They were on an ancient island, having traveled across the planes of time and space; they were speaking to a woman who was "one of them," yet possibly nonexistent. Everything was a contradiction, if you looked at it one way. Either that... or everything was true.

It is very possible that none of this may matter...

It was up to each individual to draw their own conclusions, Ouranos realized. What was his own?

He thought back to himself, sprawled in the dirt, gasping and bleeding; he remembered the steel grip of fingers around his neck. He felt his life fading, and heard the sweet song that had brought it back. In his mind's eye, Oura watched human heads separate from human bodies, rolling to a gentle stop at his feet. There were smiles on all of their faces.

From somewhere far away, a chime echoed, vibrating within the very depths of his being. And when the woman phrased her final question, Ouranos felt he was ready to answer. It may be incorrect, it may be absurd, but it was his own answer-- and one that he believed in.

"We were sent to experience Death... in every way, every form. From watching it, to experiencing it..." Ouranos took a slight breath, laying one pale hand upon his chest. His heart thudded within, victorious, alive. "...to defeating it."

Lucien seemed pretty relaxed here, his body swaying contently back and forth as he listened to the answers that followed each question that had been asked. The first answer seemed simple, a definite location given to them as well as confirmation that she was the same as them. The second answer fell a bit short because it seemed quite peculiar that she claimed to be one of them and yet sh didn't seem to be familiar with Halloween. It was strange but on the same hand Lucien didn't give too much thought on the matter because after all he wasn't familiar with this place called Aeaea and yet he was still here. As simple as it went for Lucien, it met they were in similiar circumstances.

The thought that either her or any of them were not real shot a pained expression straight to Lucien's face. He didn't want to think that her, or any of them were not actually real. They were all here, and they all had so many memories! How could just one of them not be real? He couldn't speak for sure for the hostess but he didn't want to think that she was just some figment. He liked her, and she had a gentle smile that comforted the air spirit even among all the confusing things she spoke of. Things that normally would have caused to drift off into a deep sleep compelled him to stay there and listen. He would listen to everything she said and then if anyone ever claimed she was not real then he would know better: in his heart and his memories she would forever exist.

The thought of this being a reality or a dream seemed trivial though, especially after the Death Trial. It wasn't the same idea of any of them not being real but he would have liked this place to be real, even if only in another time. It was beautiful and it certainly deserved to exist. His thoughts lingered on it, his eyes shining brightly as he took in a sight he might never see again. The beautiful endless blue skies, and even the fountain and marble pavilion. Among it all, he even observed the hostess as she explained the battle and their purpose here. It wasn't until she shifted on the marbled bench that Lucien stopped, his eyes falling on her.

She was looking at him now. No, it wasn't just that. She was closer to him. It may not have been much, but the small action brought a small smile to the air spirits face. He hadn't been forgotten, and his question was being addressed quite thoroughly. Singing was definitely one of Lucien's favourite past times considering it was one of the only past times he had growing up in the skies, but even if it hadn't been the air spirit probably would still love it just as much. Even talking about it was nice, and hearing about the immortal's love for the art pleased Lucien. In the end, it may not have been the most exciting question for other students but it pleased Lucien.

Following that explanation Lucien definitely grew a small red tint in his cheeks, his eyes carefully looking at the hostess. He felt a strange nudging feeling against him, something gentle and light but not completely nonexistent. It that caused a small tickle over his skin, a light goofy smile falling across his face. It almost felt like someone was looking at him, really looking at him. It wasn't a nervous feeling through, not anything like the feeling a young woman would have while walking down a dark alley. It was kind of like a cloud and it was followed by an interesting statement from the hostess that caught Lucien's attention more than anything else. If he had potential then he could learn? He hoped that he had potential, and he hoped that if he didn't now that someday he would. He hoped, and he hoped that would be enough.

"Then I hope the talent can grow inside me like it did you," he said with one genuine smile.

He might have said more had there not been a loud chime, something rather similiar to the jingle Lucien often jangled with his tambourine. Or... not. It might have been the same idea but perhaps it would be more accurate in volume if Lucien got hold of a gong because of the echo. Jack forbid Lucien ever got a gong, but it seemed to have a greater purpose here. Greater purpose? It was certainly one that prevented Lucien from inquiring further and not one that symbolized their necessary departure, right? Lucien certainly thought so!

After that, a soft voice was easy for Lucien to detect and her question seemed fair. She had answered so many, it was certainly the least they could do. Well, not necessarily. Lucien knew the least he could do was quite literally nothing but Lucien was polite. Lucien smiled, and then furrowed his brows as he thought deeply on her question. Why were there here? Lucien didn't think they were brought back here just to understand death. If they were supposed to learn death then surely it would be just easier to kill them without everything else.

"Perhaps to explore and discover a path to call our own," he pondered out loud, partly reflecting the words his fellow students had reflected on. "I would hate to think that we came all this way just to keep dying and keep killing. I would think that is horrible guidance."

There was a definite pause as Lucien seemed to get lost under the sky that was so vast above them.

"Whatever reason we're here, whether just the fate of the wind, I am glad we were to meet you and discover this place." There was a definite order on those two subjects.

Willow had winced at the chime, it was harsh against the serenity of the place they were in. Her tail flickered as she heard one speak of experiencing death, .

A sad look came over her face as she looked out across the fruit trees. "We are Halloween... we cannot die..." She stated softly not looking to those that would know where the phrase came from. Willow was playing with her tail looking sullen. Was Red at peace? There was a mental addition to that, But maybe we can....

Why do they think they were here.

When Olivia had come to in the room of white, it was like waking up from a deep slumber. Something she hadn't done in so long. But she remembered a similar sensation when she came into this new life, being whole again and feeling her mind swell with a million questions.

Except this time, it was more peaceful and subdued. Oddly she wasn't frazzled by coming back to life for a second time. Perhaps it was the soft music that fluttered through the air or the beautiful scenery that the stark white drifted into with the beautiful blue skies and the welcoming marble pavilion. For certain, she knew, Olivia wasn't going to be one of those that were going to rest.

So, she joined with so many others crowded around a mysterious woman. Gazing at them, talking in questions and answering so little. Olivia remained her quiet self, her bright blue eyes looking from person to person as they raised their inquiries and offered their own answers. She sat, unsure of what to say herself, her fingers fidgeting with a hem as she mulled over the clanswoman's question.

Why were they here.

Perhaps the lack of a real answer was for them to come to the conclusion themselves, but the ghoul was unsure if she would be able to reach them on her own. The others seemed to be so sure of themselves and were able to find them as they reasoned it out. The only basic reason she knew, "I just know we are here to learn." She whispered in her usual quiet voice. Others had said as much already, Olivia wasn't contributing much.

Arynek remembered she dissipated in the battle field, but she could feel she solidify again! When she opened her eyes, she was confused. She didn't know this place, but it's just the opposite of the battle field they were, it was........so wonderful and peaceful! Blue sky, sacred white statues, marble figures and green leaves......Paradise, this term came into her mind.

She could hear someone singing softly, like a lullaby soothing her heart.
She asked the solidified students to close the eyes and take a rest, and they will be "home" soon....? Home?

However, Arynek, like some of the students, decided to stay awake in order to find out the truth.

The owner of the soft voice began to say something and asked them a question; "where are you from?"

Before she could ask this, let call her woman first, many students did that. However, the answers from the woman only gave rise to other questions.
It was too complicated to understand, but from that woman, she knew she and her classmates were in her domain, the island of Aeaea. She didn't give her name, but said she was one of them.

Then, by answering another question, she gave out the reason why they were there, either they were distant travelers or they reach here by some means. She also mentioned that one of them, either the woman or they students was not real.

She continued to answer other students' questions, two of them asked about the battle before they dissipated. She explained that there was a battle, always, between them, the immortals and the mortals. Arynek believed that the mortals she referred to were the humans. She mentioned that "Without their beliefs however, we dwindle in numbers, there is speculation that we will become obsolete soon, and the time for immortals will draw to an end". From what Arynek can understand, it seemed that they somehow rely on the existence of humans, or better say, human's belief of their existence. The shadow ghoul seemed to get something important, but the concept is too vague to form an answer.

"Was it possible that we were in the past?" She inferred.

She recalled what the woman asked at the very beginning - "where are you from?".Now, she was asking "why do you think you are here?". The two questions seemed to link to something........

If it's literal meaning, they all come from the Death Isle, they are born from Fear of humans. For the second question, they were here because they were dissipated or simply they were sent to learn something, something about themselves.

She approached the woman closely and said "I think we are here to learn.....about ourselves....or maybe say the origin of us. Is that the answer you want?"

After she answered her question, Arynek raised her question. "We were in the Isle of Death, but then we were brought to a battle field and dissipated. When we woke up, we are here. So I believe what we experienced is actually happened in the past? We are just participated as a passer-by?" She raised the question with a doubted face.

The mysterious lady was correct: Shenny knew the answer already. Unfortunately.

It was good she's in her mind now. The ghoul tried to resume her thoughts. The existential aspect of Death philosophy was the first part of their motto "All the ways lead to the same end". The Lady insisted on the same end, and there was nothing to argue about: the ending will be the same for all of them, and Jack, she was just going to meet this ending not so long ago. However, the first part, "all the ways" was essential. Every creature is able to choose its own path to fight and struggle, correct? How could Death clansmen make such a mistake and allow them to choose their path?.. Of course, the didn't! Now Shenny realized "the Guidance" part. They would never allow the true freedom of Will. "Guiding" creatures they throw them into a struggle and battle, they guide you to death speaking about choices, but leaving none for you.

Shenny finally realized: Death was manipulating them. And looks like, it succeeded.

The ghoul took a look around, and listened to other students who refused to rest, their questions and answers. Most of them were lost, confused, they asked about the place, the lady, the battle they have seen. Shenny shivered.

Don't they get it really? It was all fake, an illusion, no matter did it take place once or not. The information, the facts they got were carefully selected for them. What had they seen again? They saw a battle where horsemen and Halloweeners were fighting with humans, presumably in the humans world. They heard just enough to make a conclusion that fear creatures once ruled the world, and humans rebellion kicked them out of that world; they were ones to decide and take what they want once, but now they scavenge on a tiny fear they can get. Looks good enough to make them hate humans, right?.. No? Okay, then you should be killed by humans to hate them even more.

Bloody Mary. Bloody, bloody Mary. What do the horsemen really want for them?.. The sorceress wasn't sure, it looked too shocking, but... it really looked like the horsemen were manipulating them, using them, simply preparing them to be thrown between clans and humans. They were preparing them as cannon fodder, that's what all the "struggle and battle" line was about. It wasn't her battle, and it wasn't their battle, so why do they need to struggle, in the first place? The time for immortals will draw to its end, she says, but well, they managed to live pretty nice back in Halloween. Unless, there is something ahead. Something.. like a war.

Never. Never trust Death.

Shenny hesitated for a moment, whether or not she should say that now. No, that will be a bad idea; she shouldn't show too much understanding, especially sine they are guests, it wouldn't be polite, right? Perhaps, she can talk to some of the students later... As for now, it would be better not to stand out.

"I am here - no, we are here, - to be guided, since we need guidance, we're unguided and undecided yet. We are here to learn our ways, and the ways of our world. We are here to know the pattern of past, and prepare the pattern of the future. We are here to choose our," - she raised her voice, - "path in the struggling. We are here to find a good way to the end".

Oh, good. Calder had asked the question that niggled at Taryn's mind so she wouldn't have to. From an equine boil, it was one thing. From her, it would be quite another. The ghoul listened to the questioned posed and the answers offered, and she was slightly confused. Immortals had been served by mortals, by humans... so this was not Halloween, and it was certainly long ago. Could this possibly be the human world? Had her kind once ruled the human world?!

She looked between each speaking student and her chest swelled. Why were they here? She thought she knew why... but to put it into words? That would be more difficult.

"To... learn," she offered, "To experience, to some small extent, the events that transpired long ago, perhaps not with our ancestors but with being seemingly related to us. To understand the past, to understand why we fight still... I--" She sighed, relieved to have been cut off by another student. The chime was perhaps a signal that they were to leave, but she wasn't tired, not just yet. She wasn't ready to move on.

The chiming grew louder still, dark blacks now interrupting the landscape, the brilliant emeralds, whites and blues flickering erratically.

"You should perhaps, understand what death is, as its meaning to mortals is entirely different - a passageway - for them a transition -" It was becoming increasingly hard to hear her voice now -"more so a belief. There is no death for immortals because we-" another loud chime -"without belief only a void."

As the students were pulled away entirely, the world finally lurching back to white, back to the three doors, they might have realized she never did have the chance to tell them her name.
