Jerry just had to wonder for a moment, where exactly he went wrong in life.
On his long list of possible ways to die, being eaten by a seal was not very high on the list.
In fact, it wasn't on the list at all, until now.
Dear Killzone: Add on another phobia to the file.
He took another sudden jerking change of direction, this time swimming straight up before twisting last minute out of the way of the overhead ice flow...
unfortunately for the seal, it was not quite fast enough, braining itself thoroughly on hard, hard ice.
Dazed, it shook itself off, blood in the water, and swam off warily. Those Penguins were too much trouble for snackfood.
Jerry floated upside down to a stop, flippers twitching and a far-away look in his beady penguin eyes.

And suddenly, like a bat in the knight, or a really really dark penguin in the ocean, Wash bulleted toward their fish-breathed foe.
...But by then the seal was already gone, and Wash simply barrelled uncontrollably into the deep.
"GULBGULBGULBGULBGULBGULBGULBGULBGULBGULBGULB!" He cried in dismay.

At least the seal didn't seem to be having any success at catching any of them, any more than they were having catching it. A quick move from Jerry had the seal colliding with the ice; that seemed to be enough to make it rethink its hunting grounds, and it looped away into the darkness.
Annoyed, Jordan launched himself after it and got in a good hard bite to its rear flipper. It sped up. These penguins were definitely too much hassle.
Jordan turned around and arrowed back towards the other Hunter-penguins. Jerry got the evil eye, which was even more beady-eyed than usual, due to penguin facial features.

And then Wash decided to tempt fate.
He zoomed straight past a school of fish, and tried to snag one but failed.

And then finally the seal got the hint it wasn't dealing with normal penguins. No, it was dealing with hunter penguins. Who were a lot more ******** foolhardy and a lot more ******** clueless. He despaired a bit. These shenanigans were eating into precious fish hunting time. And fish were delicious.
It was all Jerry's fault.
The penguin might have escaped the attack of the seal, but Rep was determined he'd find out his displeasure, swimming right up to him and pecking him insistently.
"Scare off fish! Fish brain .." there wasn't a word for Jerry in there. "ice-eyes!" Okay, that was like glasses right? Speccy ******** idiot.

"Fish heads, fish heads~" Jerry sang distantly, which was the only part of the song that translated into penguin easily. He shook his head, blinking as he came out of the darkness in his head. It had been a while since he had shut off like that... and down here that could be dangerous. Right. Fish. "Gratitude!" He quacked in embarrassment before flitting through the water afresh, circling back towards the hole in the ice for a fresh breath of air... To the side, something moved in his peripheral vision, but even as a penguin, Jerry could not see very well. He hovered in the water, until the shape grew closer... and bigger... and bigger... and... Jerry screamed, swimming as fast as he could. WHALE ATTACK 100: A string of bubbles is your only warning as a dark shape rises swiftly from the deep. A KILLER WHALE HAS SPOTTED YOU and it hungers for penguin and sea lion flesh alike. SWIM AWAAAY! Roll 1d20. 17 or higher results in successful escape! Take 3 damage every round you are in it's presence!

Wash pursued the seal, when suddenly something horrifying floated up from the depths.
Oh god is that a whale.
His penguin brain started murmuring about fish.

A seal was bad.
A whale was so much worse.
He had no idea if Jerry was just particularly appetising or whatever it was that caused him to draw predators like a little ******** penguin magnet, but he almost jumped out of his feathers as a massive shape slunk out of the gloom and right towards them.
He'd maybe attack a seal to save Jerry.
He wouldn't ******** attack a whale.
He swam towards the surface like a penguin shaped bullet and launched himself out of the hole in the ice enough to fly clear of the water and land in a heap on the snow.
He got the hell out of there

There! The hole in the ice! He could see it up ahead! The Whale was taking chase, not sure which tasty morsel to concentrate on, which gave Jerry plenty of headway to swim as fast as his little flippers could flap until he was soaring up out of the water and into the air...
And he still hadn't gotten any fish.

He was all alone, and there was a WHALE.
Everyone had left him and there was a whale oh god-
He winced, as much as one could with a beak for a face, as the whale bit the seal from before in half as it tried to scuttle away.

There was seal blood everywhere. Wash couldn't see- and narrowly missed swimming straight into the leviathan's jaws.

The water cleared finally enough for Wash to arrow upward and slide onto the ice.
Fish were super overrated, ok?

Okay, the seal was gone, everyone was safe now. Jason swam after the group of penguins, only to pause when a few of them swam past him. Wait why were they swimming so-
He heard, more then saw, the familiar call of a marine mammal. Now, normally this would not terrify him, but considering he was now a part of said marine mammals food diet, this scared him, a lot.
Quickly he about faced and flapped his flippers in a frenzy to get away, following the other two penguins and jumping out of the hole and onto dry, safe land. He then waddled away as fast as his little feet could carry him.
