It was probably a good thing that modesty wasn't really Fritz's forte either; nor did he embarrass all that easily, which was perhaps why he got along so well with people like H ebe.
He stuck out his tongue back at her. "Who knows where I hide my snacks? They could be anywhere."
Fritz's plans to escort the guardian cat around his Wonder had worked...sort of. Except instead of hanging off of his arm, H ebe had thrown himself onto his back. Fritz caught her easily - she barely weighed a thing, the silly cat - and hooked his arms beneath her legs to hold her steady.
"Whatever the lady doth request," said Fritz, in an imperious sort of voice, and grinned, taking a few steps around the room.
"Well, my Wonder, for one thing, I think used to be a study of some sort for my previous ancestor. I'm not a reincarnation of him; it was my great...great...I'm not sure how many greats - grandfather, Aurelius, who was the former Knight of Chronos. This was his Wonder; it's kind of a mess because I think he liked having it that way."

Once she seemed settled into place, ********* leaned her face against the boy's face a bit and listened to his explanation with keen interest. When she wanted to nod, she pulled her face away from his so she could bob her head up and down.
"I have heard of people who can't be organized unless their materials are seemingly disorganized. Could take a pile of messes in their space and find you exactly what they need from the stack. Perhaps that is how Aurelius was?" There was a chance the Mauvian was giving the deceased man more credit than he deserved, but it was better to give a man such respect that she didn't know than to spite his soul.
Once her nodding seemed over, she leaned her cheek against his again. "So... with this many books around, have you tried actually looking at any of them? Or do you think they are too old to be touched and shall forever remain a memorial to Aurelius?"

"I'm thinking that was more the case," said Fritz, as he carted H ebe around the room, his eyes scanning over the cluttered stacks of paper, the heavy, leatherbound volumes on the bookshelves, the quill pens and ink stands on the tables and desks. "What is it called? Organized chaos?"
Grinning a little crookedly, he added, "I haven't tried looking, but I wouldn't mind. I already moved stuff around when I was looking for my signet ring the first time I came here. Why, see something interesting?"

"I've never really thought of giving it a name, but I think that is a pretty good name if any!"
She giggled before stretching her legs out straight in front of Fritz, wriggling her toes cutely before taking to kicking her legs back and forth slightly. With a hand, she started to tap the hat she had placed on the boy's head, almost as if playing a drum to keep to the rhythm of his walking about.
"You had to find your ring here? That sounds like a fun game to play!"
Of course, he had asked about her interest in the books, and the girl rubbed her cheek against his in a very feline-like gesture. "Freeeeedbob! These books are all a sort of treasure if you ask me. Why wouldn't I be interested? I can only imagine what sorts of things are hidden in them!"

"Organized chaos is a relatively good name for my life at the current moment," said Fritz, a little dryly as his gaze swept across the room. He patted H ebe's leg affectionately. "Since becoming a knight, there is little that has happened that has not been chaotic."
It felt rather pleasant to at least talk to someone about it, however. He was so used to concealing everything from Tolliver that it felt almost wrong; keeping something from a twin was really very unpleasant. But at the very least, H ebe provided him with a sense of certainty as to what he was doing and its rightness.
"I did have to find my ring in here - and let me just say, it wasn't that easy, and Aurelius - that's my ancestor - was wildly unhelpful." Fritz gave a mild laugh, shrugging as shifted H ebe's position a bit, wandering over to one of the bookshelves.
"This room is probably going to be full of treasures, as you put it, and I should hope that I will not stop finding them for quite some time."

Her ears twitched a bit. "Aurelius? Ancestor?" She glanced about, as if to try to look for whoever this Aurelius was. When she couldn't find the culprit, she used her toes to point to the bookshelf.
"...so... are these treasures that can be touched? Will... um... Aurelius get mad if I touch?" She momentarily strained a leg so her toe was nearly touching the edge of the closest book.
In a quieter tone, she had to ask "...is Aurelius here right now?" The idea that there was another present seemed to bother her slightly.

"Yeah, ancestor," said Fritz with a smile. "He's uh...well, he's an interesting sort, that's for sure."
He glanced around the room and gave a small laugh. "Nah, I don't think he's around right now, and since this is technically my Wonder and not his, you can touch whatever you like."
Carefully he lowered H ebe back to the ground and turned around, grinning at her.
"Except butts," he said playfully and pecked her affectionately on the forehead before turning to the bookshelf himself.

Gingerly, her fingers seemed to narrow the gap between hand and book once she had received permission to do so. Out of the book shelf and into her hands, and from her hands onto the floor. She sat herself down in front of the book, using the back of her hand to dust off the cover a bit.
"...I have to be honest... I don't get what you mean by 'ancestor'... but that's okay I guess." She glanced back up to Fritz with a wide grin. "However, I will spare you some booty grabbing, just in case your ancestor shows up at some point!" Sparing him a quick wink, she then went back to looking over the book.
Though ********* never came across as the intellectual sort, she still was a Mauvian, through and through. Old books would still hold some sort of interest to her. She might not have been able to understand what the languages etched into the covers, but it didn't make things any less interesting. Since the cover was a bit thicker, once she was finished inspecting it, she lifted a foot and delicately used her toes to flick the book open with much care. She hummed a bit, seeming fully invested in looking over the very first page.

"Oh," said Celsus. "Well, I think a lot of the knights have past selves, like the senshi do? But I don't - instead, I'm like...a descendant of a past knight who held the same title as I do. So basically, the former Knight of Celsus." He gave a little shrug, casually throwing an arm around H ebe's shoulder as she flipped through the book, clearly interested in the odd writing. "It's a little strange, that's for certain, but it's actually been quite nice talking to him."
He cracked a smile. "Plus it's, you know, pretty cool to be able to get the point of view of someone who's been where I am right now."

Green eyes lifted off the pages they had been so intently absorbed in before she offered a rather coy smile.
"...so that means your ancestor must have had offspring back on Earth in order for you to exist the... if I am understanding this correctly."
Her ears twitched slightly before she returned to the book, thumbing the current page as gingerly as possible so she could take a look at the next one. "You knights sure are curious little things... to have power passed on directly through bloodline rather than through reincarnation... perhaps it only seems odd to me because it is not what I am adjusted to."
She purred slightly, as if she found something interesting in the book. However, she then chimed up "I wish I knew how to read all of this... looks like it could be fun!"
She paused from her investigations eventually as she caught what he had said. With a small giggle, she then stood up and began to try to push Celsus out of the spot he was standing on. She wanted to poke some fun on him, but he needed to budge. Why did he have to be so much larger than her?

Celsus pondered this momentarily.
"Something like that, yeah," he said dryly, scratching his head with his free hand. "I think my brain would melt if I tried to backdate all of my heritage, but some way or another they wound up mixed up in all of this mess, and, well, here I am."
He grinned, fluffing H ebe's hair. "Maybe I'm just an oddball. I'm a paradox."
Celsus's eyes flickered towards the book and he gave a little shrug, "Maybe some day I'll figure out how to read them - or I'll ask my ancestor what everything means."
Small hands pushed against his torso, and Celsus gave a squawk of mock outrage, folding his arms across his chest and refusing to budge. "Why, H ebe," he said, feigning hurt. "You're trying to get me to move, how rude."
Then he promptly reached out, scooped her up into his arms, princess-style.
"All right, you, field trip's over. Time to get back to our boring, everyday lives."

She giggled as she was scooped up, squeaking out something about wanting to have the point of view of where he was right now.
She squirmed a bit, but soon enough her form shrunk down until there was no more circus outfit, no more hat, and simply just a small round cat semi-clinging to the boy's clothing.
"I think you underestimate our lives if you truly think they are boring, Fredboberick of the Fritz!" She knew he was poking fun at her, but she couldn't help but poke some back at him now.
