Ink well, please be well...
Okay, this place was a little better then the lotus Pavilion. At least it TOLD her what to do in regards to footwear, which in this case, was to not have any. Taking of her shoes and placing them on the rack, Poke walked inside and found herself immediately drawn to the pictures on the wall. They were simple, only ink pantings, and yet they were beautiful in their own right. The room itself had a similar theme; simple, yet elegant and beautiful.
Her attention soon turned to the arrival of whom she assumed was their teacher. As the horsemen bowed, she bowed in turn (it appeared to be a common theme among the conquest clan), and listened as they talked about what they would be learning today (which was not war and battle, as she had assumed...damn).
Soon, another horsemen arrived, this one assisting the Professor, and after they told the students what to do if they wanted to ask a question (at least they could ask questions here...) they then began to instruct them on...making ink?
Well, considering the walls were covered in ink paintings...it made sense.
Sitting down at one of the tables provided, poke adjusted herself, tail curling one side so it was out of the way, then set about the task of making the ink. Picking up the cup of water, she slowly, ever so slowly, tipped the cup over onto the ink. Only a drop came out, and she placed it back down before she ended up adding to much.
Aha! That wasn't too bad, now for the next part. She placed the ink inside the mortal, pausing as she considered what to do next. She needed to grind this stuff into paste, right? With that thought in mind, she all but smashed at her ink cake, trying to ground it into the mortal with all her strength. After a few minutes of this, she sat back and...Hold on. That didn't look right... The dragon ghoul glanced at the others near her. They looked different then hers...
Ear-fins pressed to the side of her head, Poke tried to slouch as low as she could, hoping the professor wouldn't noticed she had pretty much botched up her ink. Although now that she had finished..was she supposed to paint something? She had a brush, so she assumed that was what she supposed to do, but no one else was painting anything...

Ink well, please be well...
Tyshina walked into her new class. The surroundings were different here, she thought as she walked towards the back of the class. She watched as her new mentors entered the room. Her first mentor was a female; she wasn't very tall but she walked with such grace that she couldn't help but gawk at her. Her robe she wore was amazing and the more she watched, the more she felt slightly under dressed. She quickly learned her name, "Professor Zhang," she whispered under her breathe. It wasn't long before she watched a taller man come to her side. He was much more humble than her, and because of that she seemed to overshadow his being. He was young for sure but his voice caught her attention quick, "Assistant Professor Shanzhu," she whispered under her breathe once more to commit it to her memory.
She stood there silently as she awaited her first assignment. all she heard was time to paint and she was already happy. She could feel her soul life and thought silently, "This is going to be so fun!"
First she got to adding her water, and to her surprise she did it perfectly. Thankfully her hands were steady enough only one drip was added. as much as her soul lightened after this, she knew she still had one last step to do today.
She picked up her cake ink and carefully began to grind it. Sadly her hands got a little ahead of her and begun to pound to hard. "Oh noes," she said sadly as she looked at the pounded cake ink. It looked as though someone had tried to beat it to death. As she took a deep breathe she said, "Well hey who knows, maybe it'll work better this way for me!"
With that she left her station for the day, and awaited class tomorrow.

Ink well, please be well...
Just before Mei almost ran into the barrier the sign caught her dark brown eyes. "Oops!" Wiggling off to the side of the door she removed her boots, folding them in half then placing them on the shoe rack. As her feet touched the smooth, marble floor she wiggled her toes.
As she looked up she quickly took in the look of the room. It had minimal furniture but the paintings on the walls made it all the more grander. She was in awe at how beautifully illustrated the paintings were to the point that she almost didn't notice when the Professor entered the room from behind the red curtain.
When she spoke Mei's attention quickly turned to her, though she noted a few of the other students who were in the class already. She listened quietly at the introductions and then as they were instructed to sit she moved to a table nearby, folded her legs under her and took a seat. Looking at the ink she pushed up her sleeves before placing some water on the stone slab just as they were shown. It didn't quite look like Professor Zhang's but it didn't look bad either.
Picking up the mortar she began to grind the ink until it seemed to turn into the right consistency that was needed. At least she hoped it was! Couldn't paint pretty paintings without proper ink. A lot of this reminded her of home. Spending time painting with the rest of the Jiang Shi as part of a relaxation and calming exorcise that mother and father required all of them to do.
The ghoul smiled brightly at her accomplishment. Eagerly awaiting what was to come next.

Ink well, please be well...
Malodore entered the classroom easily - it never wore footwear, after all! - and stood still for a moment, drinking in the surroundings. Certainly, the Clan of Conquest did not fail to impress, and while it remained faintly on edge it could still appreciate the aesthetic achievement and precision this Clan valued. When the teachers arrived, it could also appreciate the delicate bond of mentor and student between them. That was something it could approve of without reservation.
As for the subject matter itself... well, ink painting wasn't something Malodore had thought to try, as it found its own simple fountain pen enough for it. Still, it would be good to try something different, it supposed. When the low tables were brought in, Malodore seated itself, its tail curling around it, and peered at the drawing materials with interest. The paper was lovely, beautifully crafted, enough that it almost feared to mar it with ink.
... Yes. Ink... it approached the ink with some trepidation. It was used to ink that came in bottles, not in cakes. But the use of mortar and pestle was very familiar to it. Perhaps it if pretended the ink was medicine, it would come out all right. Carefully, the plague doctor began pouring in water-
-ah, no, merde, the water was threatening to overflow. A thin trickle of grey-tinged liquid snuck up over the side of the stone slab and started soaking into the paper. Quickly, the plague doctor produced a bit of tissue from its sleeve to absorb the extra water, though it was never going to get that grey stain out of the paper. But at least the immediate emergency had been averted.
At least it knew how to grind things with a mortar. It carefully picked up the mortar and began to work the ink cake into a fine paste that mixed with the remaining water - thankfully, this part was uneventful. It couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief when the ink was mixed at last. Would it really stay fresh for a week? Could the Horsemen defy evaporation? If only it could ask about the science behind that little trick, but it was a little too intimidated by their instructors to dare such a thing quite yet.

Ink well, please be well...
Riley was vaguely interested in comparing her experience with the classes at the Isle of War, to this one. So when she entered the room, or at least tried to, it was with a strong, quick stride. It didn't help her. She slammed into the invisible barrier, stumbling back a few steps, before reading the sign concerning footwear while in the classroom. She stared at the sign for a few stunned moments, before slowly taking her boots off - while carefully leaving her socks fully pulled up as far as they could go. However, she feared that the barrier would not let her in with socks, and she would not be removing them, for any reason. So when she dipped a toe into the class, a sigh of relief left her as it let her in. She strode forward, took a seat, and began listening intently to the professors and their lesson.
Ink making did not sound like a skill she would use past this class, but it was still an interesting activity to try. She added a fair mixture of water, which made a bit of a sloppy mess on the slab, but at least it remained where it was meant to be. Then she began to mix the ink cake, completely unaware of how to best handle the task, but attempting it to the best of her ability nonetheless.
The ink seemed to mix well enough, so she considered it a success, even if it did not look very clean and tidy. She was sure it would still do it's job.

> 2 - 3 : That's pretty good! The water's staying on the stone slab! > 4 - 5 : You see the water slowly turning black as the cake of ink is pounded down.
[Entering]
Ceil came into the room and couldn't help looking at everything. The carvings on the rafters caught her attention as she slid off the outdoors sandals covering her sock feet. Then the rounded walls drew her eyes to the paintings. She smiled, moving toward them at first, stopping herself when she remembered not to touch them. She was looking at a respectful distance when the teachers arrived.
Ceil bowed when the teachers came into the room, her motions imperfectly mimicking the graceful bow she had been practicing with the adara. She straightened herself once more as the professors began to speak. As she listened, something in her eyes hinted at a half-forgotten memory. Ciel herself wasn't sure what it was as it sat on the border of her memory like mist on a lake bank, obscuring all beyond the glassy plain.
The double-clap snapped her back to this reality. She nodded in thanks to the servants as the brought out the tables and took her seat. She drew in a breath; these professors were a lot stricter than the others. She held it for a moment, remembering her practice in the fields, then let it out as she looked over the supplies before her.
Carefully she took the water jar and attempted to pour some water onto the ink stone. It was lighter than Ceil thought it would be, sending far more than she wanted onto the stone. She drew in a sharp breath, doubtlessly thinking swear words. Thankfully, she stopped it from overflowing!
Now Ciel took the mortar to the ink stone. The motions felt natural, like she had done this somewhere before. It was not long before the water blackened into ink. Ceil tested the consistency with a few motions of the mortar, holding it up above the stone, looking at the quality of the ink. She shook her head... a fine ink in too thin a consistency for her liking. None the less, it would have to do.

Ink well, please be well...
On the first day of class Mitsu gathered with the rest of the students taking note of the sign on the door. As requested she removed her shoes and placed them on the shoe rack just inside the door before moving in to have a look around. The room was simple and yet elegant. It wasn't crowded with furniture but was still decorated with pictures and paintings.
Finally the lycan took a seat on the floor since that seemed to be the thing to do, tucking her feet underneath herself as she directed her attention to the teacher. It seemed she would be going from learning about jewelry to ink painting. This...wasn't at all what she expected but she couldn't complain. It seemed nice and relaxing.
Paying careful mind to what the teacher was doing Mitsu finally moved to where she would have an ink cake of her own and began the process of adding water to the stone slab. She seemed to have a steady hand at adding the water, she put just the right amount but when applying force to the ink cake to work the water into ink it seemed to be a much slower process than what the teacher had managed. It looked like it was still turning out it would just take a bit longer.

Well, at least Rafe didn't have to worry about taking off his shoes -- he never wore them, anyway. He was, however, very careful to keep his tail from dragging the floor or accidentally knocking anything over. The last thing he needed was to be yelled at for breaking something.
He liked that Conquest wasn't as hostile as Famine, but so far he actually felt more uncomfortable. Rats were not accustomed to fancy, frilly places, and the whole thing put him on edge. Also, they were....what were they doing, again? Why?
Then again, considering his last run-in with alchemy, maybe it was a good thing they were doing something innocuous like playing with ink. This was less likely to kill him later, anyway.
He listened to the instructions, then set to the task of mixing his ink. It seemed to go okay -- he added enough water, anyway, and it mixed to the right consistency.
Also, as a bonus, there were no entrails involved.

Just like the rest of the Conquest realm, Ev was in awe of it's clearly differing style from Death's. They were complete opposites it seemed! Stepping into the classroom, she didn't need to heed the disowning of shoes. She never wore any, after all! masked eyes flickered to passing students, giving a light smile to those that she might make eye contact with, before settling neatly onto one of the placed cushions, as their instructor had. The few moths that remained with her peeked out from their hiding places on the ghoul, mostly from her hair and the folds of her skirt. But they dare not come out just yet...
As usual, Ev was intently attentive to her instructor's words, soaking up all the knowledge that was being given. Ink? she'd dabbled in the art of it a little back home, but mostly for simple writing of letters to family members. Regardless, she was intrigued. With the tables presented, the roots that made up her 'ghoul like' legs began to relax and assume their normal form of long tendrils, all collecting underneath her, and to the side in a lax position. Looking to the supplies given, she slowly began to follow suite of what the professor had demonstrated. It seemed like she was doing a pretty decent job, making the smile on her face grow even more. In an idle thought, the ghoul wondered how her buddy Kettil was doing in his new class. Sure was different not having him around...

Ink well, please be well...It was like week one, except, maybe worse. He was close to vibrating in his seat again and with little to no idea that yes, vibrating in one's seat was a bad thing. He'd removed his boots and giggled as he was suddenly in his stockings. He really should have worn the cuter ones but the lace edged ones would be fine for today. Before the teacher arrived, he was very good not to play with the things. He wanted to. He REALLY wanted to but he didn't. As they arrived, (DOUBLE TEACHER? Israfel wasn't sure he could handle it, his eyes wide in excitement), the siren listen grinning like a fool as they said they would not be dealing with war or fighting. He was really happy about that. What he wasn't happy about was the hand raising and waiting. That part? He'd be terrible at, he just knew. He had the questions after all. As tables where brought out, the earwings gave a flicker. Painting? His vibrating resumed. Add water and ink and then they could paint things? This was the best class ever. As he poured the water and pounded in the ink he noticed Riley and tried to send her the mind messages. RILEYWEGETTOPAINTOHJACKISNTTHISTHEBESTCLASSEVER?He'd forgotten that mental yelling was still yelling.

Ink well, please be well...
Moure's first reaction to seeing the sign that indicated their shoes be deposited as directed was one of slight dismay. None the less, the patchwork put away his shoes in the rack before entering and actually getting a good look at the room.
As simple as it might've been with other standards, it was still way too classy for Moure to even think of bothering. Well, at least there were actually things in this classroom, unlike the one he'd been in the week before (although the 'empty' classroom of Death Isle had actually been a very nice place, all in all).
People had already started seating themselves when he'd entered, so he'd taken a seat not too far from Roch and Danny, giving them a nod and grin before directing his attention fully to their instructors. The patchwork was determined to be on his best behavior for this class.
When the ink making supplies were brought forward, Moure's eyebrow raised, and his expression slipped into one of curiosity. He was always up for learning new crafts. He watched their instructor dilligently, and then looked to his own supplies. Then, he started.
Imitating their instructor, Moure gave the slightest tip of his water vessel, watching a drop of the liquid course out and plip onto his stone slab. That wasn't too bad, actually. Next came the grounding part. He began, finding the activity a little more challenging than he'd thought at first. Finally though, he applied the right amount of force and the water and ink merged together nicely.

Ink well, please be well...
Adiyan wasn’t in the least surprised to see that they had to take off there shoes to enter a room as it was like how it was back home and it was just an automatic thing for him. It has always been strange when he went to other places were he wasn’t expected to take them off. Slipping of the thin shoes he was wearing and put them into there appropriate place and then he quietly walked into the room.
Taking his seat as he watched and listened to his first Professor Zhang as he had never had done any thing artistic as the time he spent most of his time staying away from his peers and learning the duties that he would have once he was an adult so that was nothing that he had ever thought of or doing, but then the jewelry making class had been something creative. Now seeing the second of there teachers walk in and introduce themselves as assistant professor Shanzhu. Adiyan didn’t want to in any way be rude so he would remember his manors the best that he could hoping that his temper wouldn’t get the best of him.
Hearing that they would be painting as he had always liked looking a painting and looking around this room at them was no different as they were all so beautiful! Keeping his ears perked in excitement but trying really hard not to wag his tail since that might be distracting or it could lead it him knocking something down, so it was best not to. Listening carefully at the instruction on how to make there ink as this would be interesting in the very least. Adding little by little he did alright as he put some water onto the stone slab and it stayed there too. While working grounding the cake into the water on the slab start to slowly turn black and he was glad that that he wasn’t failing too much.

Tyalessa removed her footwear as instructed, she wouldnt dream of messing up anything with her dirty footwear, especially since it has sand on them. Essa understood that cleanileness added to the calm nature of these lands, just like the tea room this place too was simple, but it didnt need any more than that did it? She darent touch the paintings on the wall, it covers everything she thought. After listening to the teachers Essa became very excited were going to be painting like on of the wall ones, she looked down at the weird bowl shaped that they called a moretar, it looked simple enough, but when she tried to lift it she realised it was heavier then usual bowls. Essa managed to add only one drip of water, just like Lady Zhang did, she was overjoyed by this, she was sure she was going to spill the water everywhere. When it came to the actual ink, Essa thought others were alot better however she was a strong person so she could do much, it still mixed well though to say the least

Ink well, please be well...Quote: 2 - 3 : That's pretty good! The water's staying on the stone slab! Quote: 4 - 5 : You see the water slowly turning black as the cake of ink is pounded down. Morrigan was already nervous when she entered this classroom but it only intensified once the professor and assistant-professor began to speak. It wasn't long before she learned that this was a very serious classroom. Any impish inclination went out the proverbial window and she kept her mouth shut. Once again, she was thankful to have left Mimic back in the room. He would have got her thrown out of this class in record time.
Painting seemed fun but making the ink seemed more so. She loved the hands on experience jewelcrafting had provided. While she didn't do as well with that class as she had expected, maybe this one would surprise her? Morrigan tried to carefully pour a drip of water on the stone slab. It might have been a little too much but it wasn't pouring over the side or anything. She let out a small sigh of relief before moving on to the mortar and grinding down the ink. When the water began to turn black, she had to bite her lip from uttering a sound of excitement. It wasn't perfect, but it was pretty darn good in the end, she was sure of it. The ink was so lovely too. She loved that it wouldn't dry up like the ink back at home. Oh, how she would love to learn this skill and paint such vibrant and beautiful things on her dorm wall.
When she was confidant that her ink was ready, she stood quietly and awaited further instruction.
